Felix
Dancing is everything to me. It’s the mother I lost, the father who never sees me. It’s the fiery love of my life, and I’ll defend it to my last breath—that’s what it means to be the lead principal at one of the best ballet companies in the world. Just when I thought I was on top, my greatest rival—my eternal nemesis—waltzes back into my Nicoló Savini. The ache in my bones and the bane of my existence.

If he thinks I’ll sit back and let him steal my spotlight, he’s sorely mistaken. No one’s taking this from me—not my father, not my ridiculously hot rival, and certainly not the confusing feelings that twist inside me every time I see Nico dance up close. He’ll regret coming here, to my city, my company. I’ll make damn sure of it.

Nico
Felix Taylor-Brooke has been my fiercest competition for years. I should loathe everything about his entitlement, his arrogance, that painfully captivating beauty. Felix was born for ballet; I was forged by it. People call us rivals, but that’s just the surface matter. Anyone who bothers to look any closer would see there’s something else simmering beneath, something we’ve both been fighting against for years.

When I walked away from ballet two years ago, I thought I was free. But then I was offered the one thing I’d always wanted, and I knew I’d regret not seeing this through. I know he’ll hate it, and I know he’ll likely make my life a waking nightmare, but honestly, I don’t sleep that well anyway. We might kill each other, but if we don’t, then we might be about to take on the greatest roles of our lives.

I made the mistake of reading this book based on the synopsis, expecting a book about fierce rivals becoming lovers. What did I get instead? Surprise! The author actually builds the entire book around Christian and Felix’s borderline creepy dynamic that has been going on since they were 38 and 19 respectively, with the supposedly real love between Nico and Felix as a sideshow. Then goes to great lengths to convince me that this Christian guy is actually a really good person. So much so that he should be the next Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. Lol. He got what he deserved.

First of all, the thing I dislike most in a book is having to read about one of the main characters having sex with someone else before starting a relationship with the other main character. That scene was a bit too graphic for my taste. Christian, take the chocolates you brought from Geneva and stuff them somewhere. I never want to hear you talk dirty with your creepy ass, darling 🤢. Also, do me a favor and choke on the wine you’ll probably buy when you go to the US so I don’t have to read another book about you 😒.

He was a 42 year old man who never took responsibility for his actions throughout the book. If you get yourself into this situation with someone you've known since they were a kid, maybe you deserve to have your life ruined. I won't feel sorry for you. Maybe you could use the time you have now to be a real father to your own child and do your job properly.

Then, it was also quite annoying that he appeared to be the savior in Nico and Felix's relationship. Why are you still here? Why are you still in the middle of this goddamned love story that isn't about you? You did something good for once in your miserable life and ended it all with Felix. Go away, get lost.

There was no reason for Christian to show up again, but alas, he did. I guess he had to be a father figure to Felix one last time, even if he couldn't be his daddy anymore. Sigh. Because there's no one else in Felix’s life but this 42-year-old guy/friend he screwed just to piss off his father. How sad. Tragic, even. When I finally found out that he was going to fuck off, I couldn't even be happy because Nico was so passive in that scene, as he always is when it came to Felix and this useless man's relationship, it drove me crazy. Stand up for yourself for once. Don't be a doormat. He is with you and you are in his house with his permission, so why are you sitting on the couch like an object without expressing a single opinion about anything? Oh, and Christian's final advice to Nico... Yes, he was a very good man. He was so impressed with what Nico did to save Felix's career that he approved him as his daddy. Go, Nico! You're doing a great job, honey!

I can't see anything to like about Felix. Can’t imagine dropping everything you've built to chase him all the way to London and fighting with everything you have to be with him, only to hear him ramble on and on about how he hates you until the last fucking page cause he literally can’t say anything else. I haven't read a character who doesn't use his brain in a long time. After everything Nico said and did for him, he blamed him at the first opportunity (thanks to Christian, the greatest guy who ever lived). I honestly don't understand how Nico could forgive him. He also lied and then tried to blame Nico's very reasonable jealousy at that stage in their relationship to justify his secret rendezvous with that guy. He's a jerk. He's right in the sense that he's nothing like his father, because Adrian really is the biggest jerk, but he can't deny the fact that everything he said about Christian was right. I wish Nico had said something similar so I wouldn't have to agree with someone as disgusting as him on this matter.

Another thing I can't get over is that Felix knocks on the door of his hated father to protect his precious friend Christian, but never in the story does he fight for Nico's love or affection. It's pretty clear he doesn't deserve Nico. He doesn’t even try. Except making protein shakes for him and practicing with him on time. How romantic. He should see a therapist before even considering a relationship. Oh, and he shouldn't give his phone full of evidence to strangers. Stupid. What a disappointment.

”It’s always been a dream of mine to dance with you, and I’m happy I get to do just that, but if you want me—I mean, if you want more from me, then you got it. Just… tell me what you want, Felix, and it’s yours.”

This was enjoyable but somehow I think I was expecting slightly more from it.
It was good but it also had a lot of things that I didn’t love and left me feeling like there was a few disconnects.

Firstly, it was really refreshing to read something different! I have no real knowledge of ballet or have ever read anything where this is the focus, so I really enjoyed that!

The rivals to lovers concept was fun, but it’s also where things started to unravel.
Nico and Felix have been rivals since they were young and are the absolute best of the best in their dance - however, very early on we learn that the rivalry is very one sided, which ultimately made the ‘hate’ feeling a bit much at times. There is definitely tension between these two, but they fall into bed early on (around 30%), so although I was enjoying their relationship development - for me, there wasn’t enough time for them to develop any sexual tension. I did feel as though - given how the plot played out, there was time for this to build after the fact, but unfortunately it didn’t. Therefore the spice didn’t have me giggling/screaming or gagged - and they did enjoy to do the naked twister, sooo guess that fell a little bit flat for me.

Nico is an absolute angel. This man really just always wanted the very best for Felix. He loved him from afar and was just a love sick little puppy 🥹 he was obsessed in such a quiet and cute way.
As much as I liked Felix and felt he was a complex character, and I did find him very loveable - sometimes in a frustrating way. I just felt like Nico was so much more emotionally mature and gave a lot more than Felix did, which lowkey made me sad at times.
In regard to the final conflict - I honestly just wanted Felix to grovel a bit. I understand it was something that hurt him a lot and he lashed out - but Nico didn’t really get much of an apology in my opinion and ugh, did I mention he’s an angel? He deserved more.
Nico does the sweetest things and his inner monologue when it came to Felix was so adorable. I really felt like Nico put a lot more into this than Felix did. However, I think I could have felt differently had there had been a slower build up, and a few other things that I won’t say, due to mild spoilers.

Maybe I just spent too long explaining what didn’t work but overall it was an enjoyable time and they were really cute when they were together, but I think it was missing a bit of emotional depth, and maybe less Christian airtime.

I will say I’ll definitely check out more of this authors books!

Nico + Felix
Rivals to lovers | Ballet dancers

Really disappointed. Can't recommend it. The whole book felt like a 3rd act breakup.

Felix is insufferable and only redeems himself slightly by the end of the book, if at all. There's spoiled brats and toxicity and then there's Felix. Sweet baby Nico deserved so much more than he got but unfortunately for him, he fell in love with an idiot. We also had side characters interfering with this relationship the entire time to the point where you could mistake the second MC as someone else entirely for a good portion of the book.

Felix and Nico had their first time together and then Felix literally goes and gets plowed raw by the other guy the next day. When Nico requested they don't see anyone else he was told no. Again, he deserved so much more. He gave so much and received crumbs in return.

The only thing this book had going for it was Nico and the mirror sex scene.

This was also my first Scarlett book and will probably be my last.

spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️.5/5
format: ebook

i don’t know if there are words for how much i loved this story and these characters.

so we have felix and nico who are arguably (or not) the best ballet dancers in the world, battling it out to make lead for their company’s upcoming production.

firstly, our mc’s. felix was such a fucking vibe. i have a sweet spot for feisty characters named felix and this was no exception. i loved him so much, and i highlighted pretty much everything he said because he was so blunt and hilarious and just authentically himself. and then we have nico. sweet, sad baby nico. i just want to put him in my pocket and keep him safe. and the way he just loved felix was everything.

ugh, i don’t know what else to say except that they were everything. the spice was actually insane. their chemistry was undeniable. and i also really loved their snark and banter. but the sweet moments were the best. watching these rivals become each other’s safe space was amazing.

this was my first scarlett drake book and i’m immediately a huge fan, and have moved onto her other stories. i know this one will be a reread in the future for sure.

What a beautiful love story.

I loved how it started with Felix having no clue about Nico’s motives to be there in London, in his ballet company. Seemingly to challenge him after two years of being away from the stage.

“Look at me, Savini.” I look at him.
“I know what you’re thinking,” he says.
“I don’t think you do.” […] I look away.
He’s silent for a long time before he says, “You know, you’re going to need to do far better at hiding it.” […]
“And what is it you think you see, Felix?”
“I disgust you.”
I blink in shock. “What?” […]
Then I look him straight in the eye. “Then you’re not looking hard enough.”

Ugh, that was such an explosive scene! *giddily rubbing my hands

But what was sadly missing for me in the end was the great ‘It’s always been you’-admission that I have been waiting for since that moment. Nico has practically been in love with Felix since they were teenagers, even if he only knew him from afar and many things he did were because of him. And so while it was addressed in the end, for me, it felt way too subtle. I don’t think Felix has gotten the entire message. How deep this went for Nico. And that is my big disappointment with this love story.

I also would’ve loved for them to reminisce the times they met when they were younger and how they felt about each other then but there was nothing of the sort. At least not TO each other.

Anyhow. I want to end my review with a shoutout to Sir Christian Darling. I loved his character so so much and in another story (one without Nico) I totally could’ve seen him with Felix. They would’ve been beautiful together too.

I hope there will be more books in this series in the future. ♡ I’ll def read them!

Limerence is a fantastic ballet rivals to lovers romance between Nico and Felix. I enjoyed their slow-burn romance. I also love their drastically different opinions and impressions of one another. Their assumptions could not be more wrong and knowing they both are so far from the truth makes it highly entertaining to watch their relationship deepen as the truth slowly reveals itself.

Together Nico and Felix are quite competitive, which makes for fantastic moments of hidden feelings and snarky banter. I love the obvious chemistry between these two, while they navigate their complicated rivalry while their feelings for one another build throughout the story.

Overall, Limerence is a fantastic romance that I could not put down. I needed to know how Nico and Felix would overcome all of their hurdles while remaining true to themselves and one another. I enjoyed this romance and the many surprises along the way. I cannot wait to see these characters again, and I loved the nods to other entries as well.

I read this beautiful, romantic book with hearts in my eyes. It took me a second to get into it, but I’m so glad I kept going because it was wonderful. I wish I’d realized sooner that it was by the same author as Hamartia because I would’ve read it much, much sooner.

"There’s hope in the way he holds me, in the promises he makes to me. Today, for a moment, I lost everything. But he stayed."

4.75 ⭐

This was an interesting book. I didn’t really know what to think going into it. At first, I wasn’t sure I was going to like Felix—he came off bratty, immature, and honestly kind of annoying. But as the story went on, I started to enjoy him a lot more. He’s just a man with serious daddy issues… in the worst possible way. And Nico? Kind of crazy for what he did, if you really stop and think about it—but still, he was a great character, and I felt bad for him too.

These were two very troubled men, dancing for very different reasons, and caught in a rivals-to-lovers arc that honestly worked really well. And let me tell you—they made sure we didn’t forget they were rivals. The word “rivals” was thrown around a lot. Like I was ever going to forget, especially with Felix acting like such a damn brat.

Normally, I’m not big on the whole enemies-to-lovers thing, but “rivals” (aka the softer, more emotionally charged cousin of enemies) really hit the spot here. I enjoyed the tension—sexual and emotional—especially coming from Felix. He was a mess in the best way.

The romance worked for me. So did the emotional journey. It dragged me through a full-on rollercoaster of feelings, and I was into it. It’s a pretty great, emotionally intense love story between two ballet dancers, and that setting added a lot to the weight of their relationship.

However—and this is where I get petty—the epilogue? Kind of underwhelming. I live for epilogues. I want those happy endings. I want the emotional payoff. And this one just didn’t hit like I wanted it to. It wasn’t bad, just… meh. And because of that, I couldn’t give it a full 5 stars. Petty? Maybe. But fuck it.

A MASTERPIECE! A TRUE WORK OF ART! FROM START TO FINISH!

For fans (and obsessive lovers of Hamartia) meeting Nico and Felix will leave you captivated, breathless and on the floor begging Scarlett for more.

For fans (and trauma victims, I'm kidding!!) of Oleander, Limerence will be the breath of fresh air to heal your soul and have you smiling and swooning instead of crying. So invest in a good air con system guys, you're gonna need it 🥵

This is by far Scarlett Drake's most pivotal piece of work, with an awe-inspiring balance of comedic genius, sentimental rivalry and the filthiest spicy moments you can imagine (I mean you can't even begin to imagine what goes on in this book, darling 🫠).

I was blessed to read it early so am totally not biased when I say this has been my whole entire personality for the last month, and foreseeable future. Join me and make it your entire life this Feb 25th!! 🩰

Where do I start?

This is the first book by Scarlett that I’ve read, and I can only say: What a wonderful book! A true masterpiece!

I absolutely loved reading Limerence. Everything about this book was incredible. But what I enjoyed the most was how the story between these two characters, Nico and Felix, developed.

I’m a huge fan of the enemies to lovers trope, so I was excited to discover that in this book, the author stayed consistent with that dynamic until it was really necessary for the characters to resolve their conflicts and fall in love. Many authors use this trope, but within just three or four chapters, their characters are already declaring their eternal love—a move that, at least for me, drains the spark and interest from the reading experience. Fortunately, Limerence avoids that mistake, making it even more enjoyable.

This book has so many scenes that made me scream like a true fangirl. Even without counting the spicy moments, I can honestly say that I completely fell in love with it.

This book has everything a reader could wish for: a well-crafted plot, characters with personalities that draw you in, a passionate rivalry, and a self-centered protagonist who, within his inner circle, becomes genuinely lovable, spicy scenes—and, of course, ballet.

Nico is too much of a beg, I'm sorry. WHAT?!

How are you this down bad for a man who's spent majority of your romance prioritizing another man?

Especially that last time, man. I get it at the beginning. Felix had a very weird dynamic with Christian - who, btw is very icky for putting all that emotional labor on a 22 year old, but that big one towards the end?

No.

Why was Felix so ready to burn everything down for Christian? Literally, why? By that point it wasn't even sexual. You're doing all this for a FRIEND who used to fuck you and offer nothing in return AND doesn't even do that anymore?

Over bloody Nico who literally didn't set one foot wrong the entire time?!

I REALLY wanted to be understanding of Felix, and the whole brat thing was adorable at first, especially with how tolerant Nico was of it but it REALLY DOES GET TO A POINT.

Sitting next to your man while he loses his shit about another man having to leave is very cuckold behavior and I could be into that IF I expected it going in but this is supposed to be a two people romance 😩

And I know it's not like that between Christian and Felix (EVENTUALLY) but that 'eventually' is a very big roadblock for me, mentally.

I'd understand (and approve) if it was a cheating scenario (I know, I know 🙈) but it wasn't even really that.

It was a secret third thing which left a bitter taste in my mouth.

WHAT EVEN WAS THAT?!

Because why is this man such a big presence 😭if you're not in love with him AND it's not phenomenal sex?

Why?!

I love this author's books(having only read 3, admittedly), BUT my biggest issue is the balance.

There's always an MC that you almost give up on due to his immense lack of a spine and always one who does suspect things again and again and again.

I enjoy the reading experience, but I don't necessarily leave rooting for the couples. I don't know if that makes sense.

Does Felix even really apologize for the wild accusation? No. He just flies off the handle at work and Nico ends up having to comfort him and reassure him that he's still got him.

But, like —why?

Why has he still got you?

I’m afraid I hate this…

Felix has several on page graphic scenes with other men. He has some weird daddy/boy relationship with Christian who has known him since he was a child and even 58% into the book, Felix is begging Christian to be with him?? And all this AFTER he’s already been sleeping with Nicolo.

You can’t convince me that Felix was in love with Nico when he clearly would’ve picked Christian if Christian was open to a real relationship.

love a book with long term pining but this felt unnecessarily long. the plot was pretty good and the one sided rivalry is always fun to read about but some parts just dragged on too much.

“We’re not fucking soulmates!”
I put my hand over my chest. “Ouch.”
“You’re really fucking irritating, do you know that?” He looks around the cafeteria again.
“You look nice today.”

Felix is insufferable for the majority of the book he is a diva Ballerino & Nico is in love with him & in his eyes Felix can do no wrong

I really loved this book just as much as i knew i would. Obviously the main ship is beautiful and hot I definitely will remember them.

The side characters are written in such a way that you will want to know more about them. I wonder if daddy Christian will get his own book. 👀

𝐿𝒾𝓂𝑒𝓇𝑒𝓃𝒸𝑒 𝒷𝓎 𝒮𝒸𝒶𝓇𝓁𝑒𝓉𝓉 𝒟𝓇𝒶𝓀𝑒 – 🩰🩰🩰🩰🩰

Limerence took a setup I love—rivals to lovers, years of secret pining, and all the tension—and made it feel fresh and so much deeper than I expected. Felix and Nico are both so layered (so many layers!), and their journey was everything. She made me fall in love with almost unlovable characters!

✨ What I Loved:

💥 The rivalry: Years of competition, jealousy, and unspoken longing? YES. Felix and Nico have been circling each other forever, and every glance, every sharp word, every moment of forced proximity was electric.

🔥 The tension: This book is FILTHY, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. The push and pull, the way they get under each other’s skin, the sheer intensity? Perfection. I hate to love sex, I love the unbalance of their dynamic, i love the princess, I LOVED! I’m almost laughing at the whole “it’s only sex” thing—sure, babes. 😅
💔 The drama: The Charlie situation? Juicy soap opera levels of messy, and I was living for every second of it—even through those moments of cruel accusations. And Felix’s dad? That man can go fuck himself on a cactus.

❤️ The characters:
Felix is a snobby, bratty mess, using sex like armor, but he’s also vulnerable in ways that made me ache for him. His arc, finally realizing he was worth loving? Chef’s kiss.
Nico is a grumpy sweetheart, weighed down by trauma but desperate for love and connection. Watching him work through his emotions and finally come out of his shell (literally!) was SO GOOD. He was made for Felix.
The way both of them grow throughout the book? So rich, so satisfying. By the end, they are absolutely #couplegoals.

✨ The angst level: Just right—enough to feel it, but not enough to break me. And the payoff? So damn satisfying.

And I have to say it—Christian. I never expected to care this much about a side character(he is the lover of one of the MC), but here we are. That man needs his own age-gap romance with a hard-fought HEA. Who am I??

This book was hot, emotional, and addictive in the best way. Felix and Nico’s love story was earned, and I adored every second of it. I admit this didn’t hit me like Hamartia, or destroy me like Oleander, but if you love messy, complicated characters, insane chemistry, and just the right amount of heartache, Limerence is a must-read.

🩰I'm honored for this ARC, thank you so much Scarlett! 🩰

It is no secret that I am a HUGE FAN OF SCARLETT DRAKE. Hamartia and Oleander are two of my favorite books of all time, and I have been eagerly awaiting "Limerence" since the moment Scarlett started writing it... and it was everything I had hoped for... and so much more!

Infinity star read, for sure. Straight to the favorites shelf!

Because this was an ARC read, I will stay away from direct quotes and review more on vibes-- although let me say, I am REALLY EAGER for this one to release into the wild, because there are so many specific scenes I want to mention that had me running to Scarlett's DMs- absolute swoontown here, guys. There were references to past books and characters, hints to next books and scenes that pulled in real-life culture... as well as some very "meta" style writing that incorporated Felix's real--life muse into his actual character and lemme just say.... I ATE IT UP AND THEN SOME. *Soooo much screaming. SO MUCH.*

This book has it ALL. Felix and Nico were perfection. Scarlett's writing always hits home for me-- and this was no exception. Felix was an ABSOLUTE TRIP- a sassy, confident lead ballet dancer in London-- he can come across as self-absorbed, but in reality he just wants to be loved and love in return. And Nico-- well, let me say I was shocked as the layers of Nico's infatuation continued to be pulled back- that man has it BAD for Felix- and in a much bigger way than was hinted at in Scarlett's initial teaser chapters. The way he literally rearranged his life for the chance to just... exist at Felix's side... oh my GOD. It was endearing as hell and seriously next-level romantic.

The ballet setting here was *chef's kiss--* I know next to nothing about ballet, but I was absolutely entranced with the dances, the background, the training- all of it. It was also incredibly hot- the way Scarlett writes the scenes, the bodies, the tension- she knows what she is doing, and this particular setting for this story really shone under her talent. The spice here- HOT DAMN. I would think it is safe to say that this was her spiciest book yet- and it was INCREDIBLE. These two burned up the pages-- I will absolutely admit to reading many of these scenes over and over again.

The ending pulled at my damn heart, in so many ways... this story hit it out of the park with the caretaking, the love- the way everything came full circle at the end to finally show Felix how deserving he was of love- I am just infatuated with it.

You know a book is good when you finish it and are tempted to just crack it right back open and start at the beginning... I will absolutely be purchasing both cover options for this book as well as anything else Scarlett offers-- these two babies will be coming home to the Scarlett shelf of fame in my library!

BRAVO..... Another absolute home run. If any of you have yet to read a book by this author, you are missing out- each one is a masterpiece. I can't wait to discuss in more detail after the release date!

Thank you for the arc opportunity!

OH MY FREAKING GOODNESS THIS BOOK IS INCREDIBLE. I'm a huge Scarlett Drake fan, and Limerance was one of my most anticipated reads of the year. I can say right now, this book is her best yet, and it had EVERYTHING I could have wanted and more. Incredibly endearing characters who feel REAL. SO much ballet, and the BEST rivals to lovers vibes. Banter, tension, SPICE. Some fun references that had me RUNNING to Scarlett's DMs to SCREAM about them. There is EVEN A SOUP SCENE. DO NOT miss out on this book, it's incredible and I cannot wait for it to be out in the world!

I'm a sucker for swoon, and y'all, this book is freaking SWOONY. Not only does it have the amazing storytelling that Scarlett is known for, but every interaction between Felix and Nico is meaningful and moves the story along. I'm still not totally sure with character I love more. Felix is a total trip. He's arrogant and to all appearances incredibly self-absorbed, but he's a marshmallow on the inside and truly cares about those in his inner circle. And Nico! Oh my goodness, total book husband material. YEARS of pining over a man who seems to hate him, playing the long game for a chance to share a moment on stage, GAH. His level of devotion and care had me MELTING - TONS of caretaking. On top of all that, I LOVE how Scarlett writes spice, and how meaningful it all is.

The writing in this book - it's next level. I could picture each scene so vividly, and when I say these characters felt real, seriously, it's like I KNOW them. And if you like ballet, dance figures so prominently in this book, there's a LOT of it. Scarlett had me over here looking up specific moves and dances - I know very little about ballet, but now I'm pretty feral for it. I need more!

I'm SO grateful for the opportunity to read this one early, but I'm SO excited for release because there are just so many fun things in this book to discuss, including one scene that had me CRYING it was so cute. There are teasers about the next book as well, which I already know I will go nuts over. Truly a masterpiece y'all, and definitely a new favorite of mine.

I was so hyped to read this book, I loved Oleander so much and Hamartia, even though not at the same level, but unfortunately this one didn’t work for me…

Seeing all this 5⭐️ makes me think I didn’t read the same book as everyone else…

I didn’t connect or liked the characters. Felix was a spoiled brat, rude and (sorry) a slut, not judging, to each their own, but not my favorite kind of character. The whole book the author wanted me to believe that Felix was this sweet and kind guy who volunteered to help the ones in need but he wasn’t like that, he was just awful, at least to me. Beautiful but with an ugly personality.

Nico seemed like a cardboard character, no depth at all. The guy had no personality. With all the shit Felix threw at him, he just smiled and took it, which got on my nerves pretty quickly…

‼️⚠️ SPOILERS AHEAD ⚠️‼️

Then the aspect of this book that totally ruined it for me, Christian and Felix relationship, it was intense to the point that they had more chemistry than the main characters, sex and feelings on page between other than the main characters is not fun to read. But I was ready to look the other way because that first scene was unexpectedly hot. When everything started to go downhill for me was when Felix was kissing Nico after just giving a BJ to Christian (he drank a shot of vodka to clean up a bit). Our leads have a scorching night of passion, loved it, just for the next day Felix shove a plug and go meet Christian for another sexual encounter. W.T.F….no…not for me…I was so pissed….
Like this wasn’t enough I was appalled when the main conflict of the book was about the relationship between Christian and Felix, like what?! Felix is so quick to blame Nico it’s not even funny, running to his father to beg and cry for Christian (the thing he swore he would never do! Yeah he did and it was about another men, his fuckbuddie). And then the apology was so weak and not even necessary because Nico had already forgave him and was all worried and not hurt at all…😓ffs

Also the whole “like you but also hate you” at some point just has to stop…come on…you are clearly enjoying your time with the guy, figured out that there’s no need to hold grudges because it was all a misunderstanding, but keep constantly pointing out that you hate him (almost until the end) just seems childish and honestly ridiculous.

What I liked: the ballet, the whole aesthetic. The gorgeous cover.

I’m so sad, because I thought this one was going to be a winner, but the main relationship was ruined, I didn’t believe their love and honestly Christian and Felix would’ve worked better imo.

Such a beautiful story. I have been highly anticipating this book, and it blew all of my expectations out of the water. I’m so completely obsessed with Nico and Felix. I can already tell this is a book I’m going to read over and over again. I definitely recommend this one!

Limerence is book two in the Famous Young Things series. This MM rivals to lovers ballet romance story is about Nico and Felix.

So I wanted to update my review to reflect that I really struggled with Felix and his relationship with Christian. Personally, I don’t like when an MC has sex with a side character on page. What made it worse for me is that it also happened after Felix and Nico had their first time together. Ugh. And I wasn’t a fan of how Felix reacted to what happened with Christian in the end. I didn’t like his wild accusation and how he handled things with Nico. I felt Nico deserved better.

As a former ballet dancer (not professional), I was so incredibly excited to read this book. I did love the dancing aspect as well as the rivals to lovers. Felix and Nico had incredible chemistry. I definitely fell for Nico and wanted him to be happy. Overall, I enjoyed reading about two dancers finding love.

This was my jam. Exactly right for me. I devoured this. Did y’all know I danced ballet for 13 years in my youth? Never made it pro, but this took me right back. I LOVE reading about the art, the sacrifice, the power of a highly trained body doing exactly what you need it to do. I adored all the ballet in this, and it took me forever to read because every time a variation was mentioned, I’d run to YouTube to watch it, which made the experience even better. Now I’m itching to go see a ballet (a queer one! With Achilles and Patroclus, someone please make this happen).

Onto the characters. I have a particular weakness for mean blondes (though I think Felix was more a light brunette). He’s one of the most talented ballet dancers in the world (arguably THE best), spoiled, rich, with serious daddy issues, and a bit of a brat.

His long-standing rival is Nicolo, equally brilliant (maybe even better, though he retired at his peak), and that rivalry fuels much of the book. Nico is Italian, reserved, tall-dark-and-handsome, deeply closeted, and has been in love with Felix forever. After a two-year hiatus for reasons we later find out (and woww it’s heavy), Nico returns to the dance world by enrolling at Felix’s academy, where Felix is king. Cue the battle for the lead role in the company’s big upcoming production: tension, rivalry, fights, scorching chemistry, push and pull, will they won’t they, banter - all the good stuff!

This could’ve been suuuuper angsty, but honestly after Oleander this felt almost breezy. (Oleander PTSD is real)

A quick note: once Felix and Nico start sleeping together (and the sex scenes reallyyyy worked for me, 10/10), there’s no “we’re exclusive” talk. In fact, Felix makes it clear he won’t stop seeing other people. I wouldn’t call it cheating since it’s discussed, but readers should know Felix is in a sexual relationship with another (much older) man for about half the book. And, surprisingly, I liked Christian a lot, although I’m usually not into age gaps, but there was something endearing about him.

Also, if you’ve read Hamartia, there are a couple funny Easter eggs. Nicolo is a fan of the Dead Poets, and there’s a scene where the dancers are gossiping about Rapha and Jay’s “scandal” which had me cackling, they don’t know the half of it, but we do. Chef’s kiss.

All in all, Limerence had a lot of things I love: the beauty and discipline of ballet, complicated, messy and deeply flawed characters, sex that slaps, and a vibe that made me want to see it on stage (the mind cinema this gave me was so pretty). These two are obviously soulmates, and it took them a long time to end up together, but the journey was so worth it.

After a two year long hiatus Nico reenters the dance scene with the London Ballet Company, much to the chagrin of his rival and star of the LBC, Felix. Felix is determined to keep his status as the top ballerino and to not let Nico get too comfortable at the company. As they are forced to spend time together training for the potential roles of their lives, they forge a connection that only mutual respect, dedication, and sizzling chemistry can create.

Nico and Felix are so well written that I immediately fell in love with both of them. Nico is an absolute sweetheart. He's a strong, silent type who has spent his dance career being manufactured for perfection. Once freed from his past, he steps back to reevaluate and figure out what he wants for the future. The one absolute in his life has always been his feelings for Felix. For years he has marveled at his bright personality and natural talent. His admiration for Felix brings him out of his retirement for just the chance to dance and be close to him. Nico is perfect for Felix in that he loves him for who he is and never wants to change him or try to put him in a box. He's protective of Felix's sunshine and wants to lift him to new heights and support him to be the best while being the steady rock Felix can always depend on.

I adored Felix. He's strong willed with an unapologetic attitude but extremely loyal and caring to those in his circle. He has his own baggage losing his mom and suffering his uncaring father, but has done his best to create his own happiness. After a lifelong grudge against Nico and living in the shadow of his career, he doesn't know what to make of him when Nico turns out to be nothing like he expected. He's defenseless against his changing feelings for the stoic, patient man and the searing chemistry between them. Felix is a romantic at heart and once he realizes his feelings, he makes Nico feel more loved and belonged than he ever has.

One of the reasons I loved Felix was even though he's sassy and dramatic, he's also mature and a good hearted person. This is best shown in his friendships and his relationship with Christian. Now I'll be honest and say Christian wasn't my favorite - but only because he was with Felix in a way that I wanted Nico to be. Their whole situation was so adult and refreshing to read (even if I was ready for him to get out of the picture ASAP). There was no jealousy, no pettiness, just men who wanted the same thing for a time and are ready to move on when they need to.

It's always a joy to read a fun and unique setting. I don't think I've ever read a dance/ballet romance and for someone like me, who doesn't have an extensive ballet knowledge, it was the perfect amount. I was able to follow along and appreciate their dedication to their careers. And now I'm absolutely trying to manifest an Achilles/Patroclus ballet.

This story was such a happy and comforting read. It's full of swoony romance, quick witted banter, sass, and sweetness. There's some angst and drama but it balances out with how charming Felix and Nico are. As always with Scarlett Drake I'm left wanting to read more, not because the book needs it but because I enjoy the story and characters so much. I'm already looking forward to a reread when the audiobook comes out!

Read if you like:
• rivals to lovers
• ballet romance
• opposites attract

This was a tough read in some ways. It's 5 stars, but allow me to prepare you: one of the MCs sleep with other people after becoming obsessed with each other. And both of them sleep with other people during the course of this book.

Just wrap your head around that first. Honestly, this is a reality in many real life romances. You meet someone coming away from another relationship, or they're rebounding from someone and no one has agreed that they're exclusive until push comes to shove.

I've only read the two books from Scarlett Drake, but the pattern I found is that none of the MCs are perfect. Sometimes, even good people are dishonest. She does a great job of humanizing characters that are easy--in and out of fiction--to demonize and denounce.

If you can accept that the MCs are together sexually before they are fully exclusive, you will love this book. there is dishonesty, and 'limerence' as the title suggests, but all's well that ends well. Ultimately both MCs are worthy of love and they get an amazing HEA.

2.5 - 3. Sad..😔 this started out so well and with so much potential.

The writing.. I actually enjoy this authors overall writing and flow and details.. I however do not agree with some of the content of this one. But I’m just me soo take with a grain of salt.
Felix.. what an overall arrogant self centered ass who had no real excuse to be one. Ballerinos are supposed to be? Yeah no buddy.. just you. Daddy issues? Again no, you had some but not be as rude and difficult as you were. I can handle jerks but not in the face of the blatant kindness that was shown to him time and again. Even at some 70-80% he’s rolling eyes and being rude. Outside of a good dancer I honestly couldn’t find one redeeming quality about him. I feel like the author knows this even by throwing in him volunteering one time a year at a homeless shelter as if this is supposed to magically make him a kind hearted person? Bah! Nope.
Nico.. ah Nico. Sweet hearted with stars in his eyes and clueless to his almost doormat status. 🙁 He means well and lets Felix be cruel to him over and over again in the sake of his ‘love’. How does he even love him? They have 0 real interactions over time and when the story takes place Felix is nothing but cruel. The love doesn’t quite make sense.
Christian.. he possibly belongs in jail. I’m not opposed to large age gaps but Felix growing up with him since a child and then starting a sexual relationship at 19? Yeah idk. It all felt icky from the start and never got better. Made even odder actually when after 3 years of having his fuxkboy, Christian suddenly all friends only just like that? Nah don’t believe it. Convenient story line that’s bunk.
Nico being ok with Christian all in Felix’s life and interactions? Again.. wtf. 😬 no no no. Grow a pair Nico.
Ok.. I never write this much but this book made me sad. I was SO excited after the last book and ballerino was a new storyline that started so well. :(

"There’s a terrifying look on his face, adoring and extremely fond, that I won’t even lean in the general direction of, let alone think about. Before I can second guess it, I reach out and clutch a fistful of his shirt and pull him back into me. He’s on me as desperately as he was before, and this time I match that ferocity."

Scarlett Drake is a one-click author for me and let me tell you, Limerence was no exception! This book is absolutely DIVINE.

This is Felix and Nico's story and I adored them both. I loved Felix's hard outer shell and how he absolutely owned his behaviour and identity, and I totally fell in love with Nico's resilience and tenacity and his endless feelings for Felix. These two have been running in a loop in my head since I finished the book!

What To Expect:

🩰MM ballerino romance
🩰Rivals to lovers
🩰Snarky banter
🩰All the feels
🩰All the spice
🩰It was always you
🩰Low angst (but there is some)
🩰HEA

Of COURSE it's a 5 star read!

Felix begging Christian to be with him was insane work that man literally told him go be with Nico PLEASE 😭 Felix was definitely selfish 90 percent of the book . Sleeping with everyone else since the beginning of the book and Nico was like 🧍🏼‍♂️ . The whole book was more Felix and Christian than with Nico . Other than the hot mess MC the story was good 😂

Fantastic. Unexpected to me because I did not go very far in Hamartia, but I picked up a sample and ooops, stayed up too late reading (and two nights in a row!). Immersive intense, the feelings, the voices, all that pining and courting and Felix's unreliable perspective of himself (and of how truly loveable and good he is).

Two ballet dancers, theoretically rivals and enemies (it is very real from one side, from the other, well you will see) in the same company, one out and proud and unabashedly, the other after a mystery hiatus, and both processing still childhood trauma.

I had to check what the word limerence meant, but yes, that word on the title, yearning and pining and courting. I think what worked for me here and did not in Hamartia is that I get the reason for the love, it does not feel just insta love or insta lust (this does not work quite as well in written form as in visual formats), it's less obvious, more felt, and the object of that love seems lovely and loveable and fun whenever he is on page.

A warning, characters have sex scenes with other characters and one of the relationships is emotionally important. It's not an issue for me though and I thought that was interesting - unbelievable in some details () but it makes for interesting plot, not as obvious as one would think. But all over this does not feel like a cookie cutter romance plot, and it is wildly romantic to me, which is something I value.

Loved it, straight to favorites shelves, and this means I really have to try to finish Hamartia (references to it during this book, no need but not too bad) and maybe even try Oleander.

Once again Scarlett Drake has put me through it. 5 billion stars.

🩰 ballet rivals
🩰 one-sided enemies to lovers
🩰 pining

I love how Scarlett’s characters are always messy and flawed, they feel so real to me! This book is lighter in soul crushing heartache than previous books but no less powerful. It also has one of my absolute favourite tropes: one-sided enemies to lovers. It’s so fun seeing how each character interprets the other’s actions with their own biases and knowledge. Context is everything and it’s very easy for Nico to appear as if he’s competing with Felix at every turn.

I loved Centre Stage growing up (as many fans of this book did 🥰) and this gave me similar vibes - the drama, the artistry, the toll it all takes mentally and physically, abuse of power, etc. So, so, so good! Another 10/10 from Scarlett Drake 😘
