Charming, well written, and heartwarming, One Snowy Day takes place over a 24-hour day. Shari Low can draw me into her books full of characters experiencing some kind of change in their lives whether it be a career change, death, loss, relationship issues, or family issues. In One Snowy Day, readers get to be silent observers as several characters have their lives change in a 24-hour period!

As with her other books, this book had me rooting for several characters as they grapple with changes in their lives. I enjoyed how she had them mulling over their choices in realistic and relatable ways. I enjoyed getting the POV's from several characters as they rely on themselves, their friends, and family members. Secrets, twists, and revelations will be made.

While this was not my favorite book by Shari Low, I did enjoy it and found myself rooting for the characters and the obstacles and choices they must overcome and make. As with her other books, One Snowy Day is wonderfully written and well thought out.

Thank you to Boldwood Books and NetGalley who provided me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All the thoughts and opinions are my own.

Jessie McLean and her husband Stan were preparing to head to Tenerife for their retirement after Jessie's party that night for both her birthday, and farewell. The small town of Weirbridge had been home for Jessie her whole life, bringing up Georgie and Grant as they grew into responsible young adults. Georgie was going to run Jessie's salon she'd owned and worked in for the past forty years, and leaving it to her was a dream come true. Grant lived and worked in London, but was home for the celebrations. But during the party in Alyssa's cafe across from the salon, where it seemed the whole town was there, small things began to go wrong.

Georgie had been offered her dream job; Alyssa had received a devastating letter from a solicitor; Lachlan had returned to Scotland after his life was shattered, much against his will; Jessie's mind was in turmoil - what would be the outcome for these lovely, caring friends in Weirbridge?

One Snowy Day is another spectacular read by Shari Low, a standalone which is linked by a few characters in return visits from Ms Low's books. I'm so glad I found this author as I've enjoyed all I've read so far. One Snowy Day is set during one day, when snow was falling heavily, and steadily, when people's lives were changing, when friends and family were supporting one another and when difficult decisions were being made. Highly recommended.

With thanks to NetGalley & Boldwood Books for my digital ARC to read and review.

I received a free copy of, One Snowy Day, by Shari Low, from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This story has a few different characters with their own drama. To move or not to move, change is coming whether they like it or not. There is nothing better than family a the holidays.

A wintery tale with just a touch of Christmas to it, I have to confess, this isn’t one of my more favourite reads from Low. For some reason, I just could not bed myself into the narrative and struggled to warm to the full cast of characters and their dilemmas.

Each of the main characters that we follow over one day all has a major decision to make. Retirement plans, a life-changing job offer, an eviction notice and a will reading sees four people come together on a day that is supposed to be one of celebration. Knowing that she will be hosting Jessie’s retirement party that evening, Alyssa struggles to concentrate with the knowledge this could be the last one her café will ever host. Even when she tries to confront the lawyers behind her end of lease, Alyssa hits a brick wall and feels like time is just not on her side.

I enjoyed many elements of this book but thought there was not as much action as some of Low’s previous 24-hour stories. Second to that, I did struggle to keep tabs on the different characters, even though some familiar faces from previous novels made an appearance. These two elements combined meant I did not feel as emotionally invested as I have in the past, but it was still a good story to read and I was keen to see how the different dilemmas would be resolved.

This is a lovely and cosy story thanks to the setting. It is the 1st December in Scotland and there is snow falling throughout – it is certainly a snowy day. With just a little hint of the festive season, I think this is perfect for the winter months – before Christmas and after – because it just encourages those snuggling feelings and the desire to hibernate under a blanket. Great qualities of a good read.

Whilst not my more favourite reads from this author, there is no denying the characterisation as we are taken on an intimate journey of four lives that come together. The happy ending was well deserved and I enjoyed how the characters came together under a snowy sky.

With thanks to Boldwood books and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

The "One" series are books I'm guaranteed to request because I know I'm going to enjoy it. They are usually mostly new characters but there are almost always some Easter egg characters from previous stories that pop up as well. And Shari is always good about putting in a cast of characters in the beginning of the book so you know who you're dealing with going in or if you need a refresher during the story as there are loads of them!
This ONE is set in the beginning of December in the small Scottish town of Weirbridge where Jessie is about to celebrate her birthday/retirement/going away with a party but the weather has other plans.….
If you're in the mood for a feel good story with endearing characters in a small Scottish village you're going to enjoy this one.
Thanks to Boldwood Books and NetGalley for this eArc in exchange for my review.

Its always a treat when a Shari Low book is published. This one is a double bonus as its set on my birthday.
In it we meet some new characters and some old favourites.
Jessie McLean and her husband Stan are selling up and moving to Tenerife, leaving her daughter Georgie to run her hair salon. But Jessie's keeping a secret from Stan, she doesn't really want to move away from friends and family after all.
Georgie has a dilemma, just as she can be in charge of the salon a super job offer comes in. And Alyssa is facing eviction from her beloved cafe and home.
Over the course of one day the stories unfold for all women with some surprises along the way.
I loved it, just as I've loved all Shari's other books. It's a story of friendship forgiveness and love

A new book by this author is a definite read for me,I dont even read the blurb as I know will love it

Once again we are treated to the ‘’everything happens in a day’ story ( stories ) that Shari Low does so so well and we meet Alyssa,Jessie,Georgie and Lachlan, all 4’s lives will be turned around by events within the 16 hour setting….as always these books can be read as a stand alone but also as always we re meet previous characters who appear in various roles throughout……..tis always good to see Val ( and the others )

‘One Snowy Day’ finds us early December in the snowy Scottish village of Weirbridge where a retirement/ moving party is about to happen that evening……some of those attending dont realise what is going to happen to them in the lead up to it and some who will be there haven’t a clue in the Morning they will be attending…

Families, relationships, secrets and emotion all roll together to once again make this authors book nothing less than a pleasure to read and as always I want to be there and part of it

Love the idea at the beginning of the book to list the characters and explain who they are under the title of ‘on this snowy day we meet’…..

Superb involving reading, that for me are just perfect

On a cold winter’s day, a storm is brewing in the village of Weirbridge…

Set during one 24 hour period, 4 characters have to make decisions that will affect the rest of their lives. Jessie McLean is retiring and ready to move to Tenerife with her husband, leaving her business to her daughter Georgie Dern. Georgie has been offered her dream job in Los Angeles, but can she let her mother down just when she is ready to move on with her life? Alyssa Canavan has spent years building the business she adores. Her cafe means everything to her, but when her landlord dies and leaves her building to his children, they plan to sell it and she is being evicted. What can she do? Lachlan Morden has no desire to return to Scotland, but he must for the reading of his father's will. When he takes a sidetrip to Weirbridge, old memories come back and meeting Alyssa and Georgie, changes his outlook on people. What will these 24 hours do in their lives.

I really enjoyed this story. It is told from 4 POVs and each character called to me. I was able to relate to their struggles, even though I had not been in their position. I liked them all and wanted them to have a positive outcome. There are some secrets that come out at Jessie's birthday party that are bombshells, and have an effect on several lives. Themes of addiction, infidelity, greed, forgiveness, following your dream and being honest with yourself and others all play a part in this story. I really enjoyed it and absolutely loved how everything turned out, even if it wasn't how I wanted to happen when I started reading this book.

This was my first book by Shari Low, and I enjoyed it. Set in a snowy village in December, the story explores relationships, unexpected opportunities, family secrets, and the importance of friendship. I found myself quickly drawn into the plot and held my interest throughout.

The characters were relatable and likeable, and I felt invested in their journeys. I especially liked that the entire story unfolds over the course of just 24 hours, which added a sense of momentum and intimacy.

It was a page-turner, and I finished the book feeling warm, uplifted, and just a little fuzzy inside. The perfect winter read. I received an ARC from NetGalley and this is my honest review.

The winter season is approaching in the Scottish village of Weirbridge where a retirement party will soon be underway. Four central characters in Shari Low’s latest novel have lives that intersect. This is a story of second chances that brings to its readers Georgie, Alyssa, Jessie and Lachlan. In one short day, all of their lives undergo momentous changes.

A party for Jessie’s will soon be underway, combining her retirement, birthday and going away. While this should be an happy day for Jessie, she is experiencing more than a bit of reticence with her plan to leave her beauty salon in the hands of her daughter, Georgie. The salon has done well over the years, and will no doubt continue to do so. However, the sheer thought of leaving her shop, as well as the village, brings her no joy.

Georgie always planned to take over her mother’s salon. However, she has a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that would take her away from the small village where she has lived her entire life. She is experiencing empty nest syndrome, and with the looming opportunity before her, the timing could not be better. But what to do about the salon?

Then there is Alyssa. She has done a fabulous job creating a warm and cozy café called Once Upon a Time. When she opens a letter informing her that she has 60 days to vacate due to the death of the owner, she is devastated. Meanwhile, Lachlan, the owner’s son, has breezed into town with the intent of getting the property off of his hands quickly and getting back to his life. Lachlan wants his business cut short post-haste and hasn’t got time to consider what might happen to Alyssa and her café. While her focus had been on hosting Jessie’s party, she is understandably distracted.

All of the character’s in this story are easy to relate to, and this includes Lachlan and his rush to get his father’s property off of his hands. This smooth read was a delightful experience, thus whetting my appetite for future books by Shari Low.

Many thanks to Boldwood Books and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

As it’s almost Christmas, it felt natural to return to Weirbridge and catch up with some of the beloved characters that we have met, along with some new ones. In the style that is synonymous with Shari’s writing, each chapter covers a couple of hours within the storyline, and the characters wait patiently for the next chapter, which will then allow them to continue with their story.
Four characters lead the charge in this book, taking turns for their stories to be told—Jessie McLean, Jessie’s Daughter, Georgie, Alyssa Canavan and Lachlan Morden. It’s almost impossible to rest between chapters as the story builds in such a way that you can’t help but keep turning the pages. In a nutshell, Jessie and her husband are about to retire to Tenerife, leaving Jessie’s salon in the capable hands of their daughter, Georgie. Georgie is grappling with the shame of having taken up with her ex out of convenience. Alyssa has received a letter giving her two months’ notice on her café lease. Lachlan has returned to the area for a single day and cannot wait to get back to London and away from the memories that haunt him of his life before his mother died.
The stage is set for one of the loveliest stories that I have recently read. The relationships between the characters were beautifully designed, and the architectural construction was a treat to observe as each character and their story were woven into the fabric of the book.
We have previously met Jessie, Georgie and Alyssa, but the introduction of Lachlan revealed another layer of this story that I couldn’t have imagined. The dynamic was perfect, and how Shari introduced the additional characters boasted all the skills of a plate spinner at the circus. The storytelling seemed effortless, but I can imagine that it was incredibly involved, with characters demanding to be mentioned.
I loved everything about this book, from the tight rein the author held on her characters to the unfolding stories that emerged. The whole book felt atmospheric, and I adored every page.

Take four characters give them a chapter at a time covering two hours before circling back round over the course of 24 hours and see how things pan out.

Georgie, Jessie, Alyssia and Lachlan take turns to narrate this rather eventful day where lives change dramatically and the snow puts pay to plans. These four narrators of mine chattered away intertwining their stories with each other

From start to finish, the village of Weirbridge was subject (mainly behind closed doors) to revelations which kept me clicking my kindle. This bewitching village is just that – I wish all villages were like that! There is such a feeling of community and a sociable one at that. Everyone knows everyone and in the main look out for each other!

One Snowy Day is a gorgeous read. I loved the characters I met on this wintery day. Yes I said wintery – it’s not overly Christmassy. Most of the story could have panned out in any season forces of nature had to intervene slightly for that small part 🤐🤐 I loved the nods Low made to her previous novels but these ere nods, One Snowy Day is a totally stand alone kind of read. A wonderful hug in a book.

Oh this book was so lovely! I loved how Shari Low let all the stories and characters lives intertwine with one another in just one day. It was done so cleverly and it makes you realise that every person experiences a day completely different to how someone else does.
The characters were all so likeable (well except for two) and it was absolutely wonderful to spend a day with them.
Shari Low was able to bring over this lovely cosy and warm feeling perfectly, which makes One Snowy Day the perfect winter/Christmas read.

Shari Low has done it again! One Snowy Day is an absolutely captivating story filled with real-life drama, heartfelt moments, and beautifully tangled emotions. The way it’s told is so compelling that I almost read it in one sitting, I just couldn’t put it down.

From the very first page, you can feel the tension building, knowing big moments are coming, and it makes you desperate to see how everything will unfold. I absolutely loved it and can’t recommend it enough!

i love shari lows books. they’re a lighter read with depth. this one had several characters from past books. all 3 characters from “one christmas eve” which included a fun update.

shari writes her books within a 24 hour timeframe and it’s a neat concept to write. this one included 4 perspectives in the same storyline and it was a lot of fun. each character is redeemable and i found myself wanting good things for each of them.

they’re memorable without being too heavy or too light.

I have loved every single book written by this super talented author and this one is no exception. Her trademark timeline is just one of the many features that makes this story so special. Great to see many recurrent characters from the fictional Glasgow that we have grown to know and love. It took me just a little more than one day to read it ( see what I did there ) and it left me wanting more, as per usual. One of my favourite writers around. Most recommended.

Thanks Netgalley for the ARC.

I have been following Shari Low books and am very happy as usual when a new book with familiar characters is published. They are like old friends (if you know what it means you know what it means) and it was good to catch up with their lives again.

This time, some new characters, popping up for an inheritance, and as usual some shocking dramatic twists in the plot (minor plot that made me go all wide-eyed and understand why the character was the way he was) but the way Shari Low manages to pop up some old detail from one of her previous books for her loyal readers was like finding easter eggs. The "oh yeah! that guy did that a few books ago!" moment was great.

Ending was slightly abrupt, I had hoped to find out more about what happened to the cafe building but maybe that is a story for the coming books!
