Forgotten Kingdoms

De Griffes et de Chaos

Rate this book

What a great ending to a fantastic series! I loved that there was a bit more info about what happened to all the FMCs in this one than the others that I've read. Compared to those (#4 & 5), this one is way spicier! It fit so well with the characters though. Axel being super protective after being Evera's bodyguard in her previous live just makes sense, even if he goes a little overboard sometimes. And I love it when couples communicate!

I liked this WAY more than the first book but it still was not the best. I felt the MMC in here was kind of very weird at times? Like creepy weird? Like times where he was suppose to be “hot” to the main character I was grossed out. I still enjoyed it enough to finish it, but yeah not the best.

This started out good, but ended up falling pretty flat for me in the end. The side characters were meh. There was a lot of build up for character building with them, and then just nothing happened. The action was mediocre. The conflict wasn't written well, and wasn't solved well. I also kept forgetting they were wolf shifters because there wasn't a lot of writing/action surrounding it. I don't even really know what happened in this book, it just seemed like things were thrown in there haphazardly.

I absolutely loved this book

I was so excited for this book. Axel and Evera story will suck you right in. This is the final book in the shared world, and it does not disappoint. You do not need to read them all, but I highly recommend them all.
Evera is an amazing character that you can't help but fall in love with. And Axel? Oh, man. Another book boyfriend added to the collection for sure, he will definitely destroy the world for Evera and not think twice about it.
You seriously need to read this book

This is my first M. Sinclair book that has wolf shifters and I freaking loved it. These wolves had a different feel to them, a dark (but not evil) undercurrent, they were more primal, maybe because it's a fantasy read, I don't know but I liked it.

MMC, Axel is intense AF. He's dark and broody, possessive and protective, has that "I will burn down the entire world for you" vibe and it's something that I just can't say no to. Axel is most definitely the strong and silent type (the man really needs to use his words) he's very passionate about Evera. The man is obsessed and I loved it.

As for Evera, she's sweet and caring, seemingly all soft but she has a bit of darkness in her too, and a high tolerance for violence. The woman has a backbone, is not afraid to speak her mind, doesn't back down from talking about the tough stuff and she's not one to stand around and let others fight. She's a little spitfire.

Gotta love a second chance romance. Seeing Axel's and Evera's past through memories, and learning who they were to each other was a little heartbreaking, but I adored seeing them find their way back together. The story felt lighter than I expected. It was low on the angst, this pair was open to the idea from the start and they were really good together. Sinclair did a good job with the world-building, I enjoyed the backstory of not just Axel and Evera but of the Kingdoms as well and the plot was interesting, it went by pretty quickly.

I immensely enjoyed Of Claws and Chaos, it was fabulous. This firey shifter read gave me an epic romance, unbelievable family drama, and the sweetest happily ever after. It was perfect.

Of Claws and Chaos is the return to the Forgotten Kingdoms series, and yes, this book is a standalone novel. This book just takes readers back to another section of this fantastic collective of kingdoms and gives us a new story. Familiar in nature, but still uniquely different.
A princess gave her life for her kingdom in an attempt to save it. What ended up happening? she was reborn in the human world, where when the time came...she would be "summoned" back to help heal her land and reclaim what is rightfully hers. The hitch? Well, her parents are greedy suckers who refuse to give up their hold on the land. Make things worse? Her half-brother...well, he has his own agenda and yeah...it's not one that our girl, Evera wants any part of.
Cue drama from the beginning. Evera is living her life, and it's a tough one, but she's getting by...barely. But then...everything changes. One guy comes to "take her back home" and then another appears with the claim of saving her. Who can she trust? There's a connection with #2, but is it real? Or does he have his own agenda, too?
This romantic fantasy novel is a real page-turner as Evera works to reclaim what is rightfully hers from her magic to her missing inner wolf. Her heart is begging for the love that Axel promises her, but can she really trust him? Cue twists, turns, surprises, more attitude that I really cared for at times, but at the end of the day...you get a nice HEA.

Review:
Of Claws and Chaos is M Sinclair’s first MF romance book and I really enjoyed it! It is part of the Forbidden Kingdoms series of 8 standalone books by different authors.

Let me just say, M Sinclair really said buckle up! I love quick fantasy reads and I ate this book up in a couple sittings. Within the first few chapters so much happens to Evera where she finds she is actually a wolf shifter from another realm. I was so invested in Evera and the world of Vargr. M Sinclair is also the Queen of possessive alpha males and Axel was no exception! I will never tire of protective, jealous males. The spicy scenes were spicing! The primal chase scene…*chefs kiss*. Axel’s nickname çiçeğim/my flower was perfect and so sweet. I loved their HEA and the epilogue was also a perfect ending to the novel!

Memorable quotes:
“I love you, Evera. I am absolutely never letting you go, çiçeğim.”

“I would own every inch of her and make her mine.”

“I know you can’t feel the bond yet…but you are everything, Evera. Fucking everything.”

I love how possessive Axel is with Evera! It was fun to see his resolve crumble after holding himself back for so long. The way the story tied in her human life as time away from her previous life was interesting, and as her memories returned, we went along for the ride of emotions and discovery. A small part of the story to most, but I loved how Axel and Xackery turned out. If you're looking for a growly MMC who would do anything to protect his lady and a resilient fmc who takes her fate into her own hands, this is the one for you!

Of Claws and Chaos

What a fantastic ending to this collection! I loved the story and characters. It was fast-paced and spicy!

There were multiple romances in this one and I really loved how the ending was done to include what happened to all of the characters.

There were so many great tropes in here like werewolves, bodyguard/princess, fated mates, magic, possessive protective MMC, sassy strong FMC, and so much more!!

This whole book feels so rushed! We meet her while she’s at work, she goes home to shower, goes to a party, gets thrown through a portal, travels to a random town where she speaks to some random lady and tells her her secrets, is found by guards that explain that she’s a princess without memories, is sent on a journey to the mountains, falls into the river where she’s battered and stays in it for hours, wanders around until she finds a military base, passes out, has her wounds treated, is taken to a castle, grabbed by her old guard/mate person, brought inside where he slams her against the wall to kiss her and surge magic into her, passes out again, then is treated AGAIN for her wounds… all of this happens in LESS THAN 24 HOURS! She reaches the castle close to dawn!!! Lmfao what?

There’s annoying things like using the same word a 3-6 times in a paragraph, but what’s more annoying is that it’s like the author forgets what they’ve written and just goes with what sounds sexy to them.

The entire book is contradictory!
Evera is exhausted from working 16 hour days, not sleeping much and she’s also starving… she’s so happy to go home early to sleep, but decides to go to a party instead.
She is so broke she can’t afford to eat, but she splurges on a taxi and plans to splurge on alcohol.
She wanders all over this casino looking for her friend, but instead decides to go outside.
She’s drunk, then she’s suddenly not.
She goes through a portal and apparently knows it’s a portal. She gets to another realm and is just like “umm this is weird. There’s two moons… whatever, let’s just go talk to someone and not be very shocked when they say I’m not on earth anymore.”
Literally the only thing that she didn’t take in as fact was her being a princess. But she took that on as soon as someone was like “yup. You’re the princess.”
She trusts everyone! Or has this crazy ability to just know exactly who to trust.
This woman had messed up ribs, bruises all over her body and overall is injured. The man has always protected her and calls her his flower, but as soon as he gets alone with her, he slams her body into the wall and surges magic into her. Essentially hurting her just to see if he can fix her magic/wolf issue. Huh? This makes no sense! Why isn’t she crying out in pain when he slams her against the wall? And why would he do that right away?
He didn’t kill her family for her, but then tells her he’s going to kill her family for her.

Seriously! Why is everything in this book like this?! Good gravy.

I got to 37% and I’m giving up because it’s just so stupid! It could be good if half the book wasn’t contradicting the other half. There’s something to the book that’s interesting and could totally be made into something good or great even. But this is seriously lacking.

Meh. Axel, despite being 100s of years old, can’t communicate. All he does is kiss and carry Evera around like a sack of potatoes.
Evera is as bland as cardboard and is the side character in her own book. She’s the irritating damsel who needs saving all the time. Except that one time she magically grows a spine and actually fights. Only to pass out 🙄. God save me from heroines who faint after lifting a finger.

The eighth and final tale of courageous young princesses that gave up their magic and life to return what was taken from their dying land.

Evera had never expected that a night out, with her friend Stella, at The Portal would have ended in a struggle with two totally strange men and then dropped through a portal to a land she had never seen. Okay this was strange. The two men were no where in sight, and what a strange sight. I saw a river below the cliff edge I was standing on. It looked like a town below with people celebrating, but like no modern town she had ever seen.

This might be my only hope for answers and a way home. I didn’t have any idea of what I would find when I reached there. But something here was triggering long ago memories. I was on the run again this time from the terror within me. The King and Queen of Vargr were demanding I be brought to them and somehow, I knew it wouldn’t end well for me. No one had to tell me twice to run. But the Kingdom of Nightfall didn’t sound much better, and I would have to travel through the mountains to reach it, alone and at night.

The Kingdom of Nightfall was beautiful to look at and Axel the man I had thought of as a King was the ruler of Nightfall. He knows me. He loved me long ago. He had waited fifty years for my return. I had been one of eight princesses who had given their lives to restore magic to the land. Axel had been my personal guard but had left my parents’ Kingdom entering the land of Nightfall. It had taken him more than thirty years to bring life and prosperity to the land that had once been a desolate barren place. How?
He tells me I am his true mate, but I don’t remember. He says I have great magic within me, but I can’t pull it forward. He says I am a wolf shifter and used to run by his side in my wolf form but can’t hear her call. I know this my parents and half-brother, Reyon, the rulers of Eventide, are cruel, vicious and want me for the magic I can’t find within me. If they capture me, I will be killed when they have no further use of me.

The final story of the eight princesses, answers why the land of Nightfall has been barren, as well as offering the romance behind Evera and Axel’s love. As a love paranormal love story, I sincerely enjoyed reading it. Evera struggles the most with trying to understand her past, present and accepting the future Axel presents to her. Although there is talk of war and the viciousness of Evera’s parents, it isn’t until the later part of the book that most of the interaction happens. Then, the tale runs with blood, spills out their hatred, shows their greed, exacts their cruelty, while the people of Nightfall seek their vengeance. For my part, I had wished that this part of the story had been spread out a bit more throughout the story. This tale did wrap up the series for me, and I really appreciated the different writing styles of each book. It spread out the saga from a lot of different angles. Evera and Axel’s love tale at the heart of the story touched me when I thought of all the years Axel fought to hold that love and make a better place for Evera when she returned. Evera’s years on Earth were heartbreaking but strengthened her character while adding to her character after her two lives were finally able to come to light for her.
I highly recommend the book. Though it is a standalone read, I believe readers may find more enjoyment by reading the complete series starting from the beginning. The romance is spicey hot, the background building is lush, I just wish there was a little more history given. The action and the danger towards the end was a surprise and had me on the edge of my seat with the twists that came up. I really loved that M. Sinclair gave us an updated epilogue at the end.

This book was so good I even cried at one part. I am the type of reader that wants to experience all the emotions in one book which is hard. I know of only a few books that have achieved that & I read non-stop! This is truly a beautiful shifter romance. Yes they have relations but what shifter book doesn't? I just wanted parents to know. Evera had lived a hard life as a human. Being shuffled from one foster home to another. When she turned eighteen she went to Los Vegas to live & work. She was somehow holding down two jobs & barely had money for food. She worked for a seedy casino owner. On top of that a guy in the kitchen reported her for taking food home because she wouldn't go out with him. Evera & a friend go to a Halloween party and two guys who act like they know her start fighting. One thing leads to another & Evera gets pushed through a portal. She has no idea where she is. However, she thought she was still on Earth until she asks. Now she needs to figure out what is happening & why soldiers are after her. As some friendly people help her escape she starts to have memories of another life in this realm. She finally barely makes it to a military base where she is tended to & driven to Axel. Only the yummiest shifter who can shift into two different forms. When she knew him he was her bodyguard because she was a princess. Her parents were horrible! The king & queen loved any excuse to execute someone. And she had a creepy step brother. He used to sneak into her room at night when she was in the bathtub. It got so bad she had to rig something to the door to warn her he was coming. That is until Axel came. From then on she never had to worry about her step brother if Axel was around. She had a huge crush on Axel & would ask him why they couldn't be together. He rejected her time & again. He never explained it to her because he was terrible at communicating. Now that she was back though things had changed. Axel was king of Nightfall. And he had been waiting & preparing for her for fifty years. He definitely wanted her now. She couldn't understand why. And she wants nothing to do with ruling. To him it was about protecting her & providing for her. He knew when she came back her parents would want her powers because she is the rightful heir to the throne of Eventide. However, Axel has changed & so has Evera can they learn how to to work their relationship out? She needs to trust him. He needs to talk to her & let her know what is going on. Also her wolf magic doesn't come back. How can they mate if she can't shift so they can have a true mate bond? What will happen when her parents threaten war if Evera isn't returned to them?

This book has some different tropes bundled together, but it doesn’t disappoint! I’ll try to give a good review without spoilers. First trope - reincarnation. Evera has a life she lived previously that she doesn’t remember. She’s a princess and wolf shifter. I have to say though, having her get some of her memories…I had a few moments trying not to bite my nails where I felt so bad for her and wondered what would happen. Second - fated mated. Hoo boy - Axel and Evera. Axel is not without his faults but the chemistry of these two…he’s obsessed!
What I love love loved about this book. While Evera doesn’t remember her first life and there is some struggling acclimating to the world, I truly think she was a better and more well rounded person in her reincarnation and merging of old and new. She was less of a pushover and more independent and strong, but she also remained sweet, kind, and fair. It was a great balance. Personally, if I went through a portal and landed in Vargr I wouldn’t have kept my cool as well as Evera.
Axel is complicated. In Evera’s first life he was her guard, but now he’s king. We find out the why’s and how’s later in the book, and also an unexpected twist I didn’t expect in why he had the magic/power to rule. Axel could have benefited from a book on how to communicate at a basic level with his mate. The hot/cold thing made me feel so bad for Evera. But he really is complicated, from how he felt unworthy of her, what he did to make it so he was worthy of who she is now - he really is willing to crawl through fire for our girl.
Next trope - found family. This progresses through the book, but the circle of people who become family, not by blood (or not just by blood) but by shared experiences and choice. Axel and Evera have such a great support system and you can see the relationships build. I loved the secondary characters, and the “redemption” arc for Xakery.
And the reason we are all here - the romance and spice. Get a fan out when you read this. M gives us some really good scenes that you will want to…study in depth.
All in all - I really enjoyed this book, and think you will too. This is a 4.5 star read for me.

Lovely final book to a series I’ve enjoyed. I loved seeing the same idea given to 8 different authors, and see what they develop with it.

First thing, I loved there was no drama within the romance. Axel’s attitude was 🫠 I loved the development in Evera, from her past memories to her recent self.

I rated it 4⭐️ due to some stuff I would have liked expanding on; such as more wolf-iness being shown. At times, it just felt like super powered humans with long life spans. For being marketed as a wolf shifter romance, I felt that was quite lacking.

Also, some things seemed meaningless. I thought with the set up of her world before, we’d say some of that come into play into her new life, but it was almost like she forgot majority of her life. I know it’s mentioned several times that her memories are colliding together, but it was a great intro to Evera’s life but then nothing more. Even the picture she saved doesn’t get another mentioned until much later. One mention of her lacking the curves she used to have, but you’d think Axel would notice and be all over that. Like she was quite weightless due to not having enough money to survive, struggling for her next full meal… but as soon as she got to Terra… all was okay. It felt like her struggles as a human were minimised to allow her old life to shine.

The plotline was as expected. Which I enjoyed. Although I reckon some parts of the plot could have been explained a little better. Just seems like some points were thrown in there to make it all make sense.

Despite the negatives I’ve wrote, I did really enjoy the book. I found it easy to read and looked forward to my reading time with it.

*4.5 stars

This may be the first MF book by this author, but besides the bigger amount of men involved with the fmc, it has everything I know and love from her. We get a fascinating storyline, an fmc who's lovable from the start, a captivating world, a protective and possessive mmc and a satisfying HEA. I really loved Evera from the start, and it was intriguing to watch her slowly gain back memories from her past life, and put fire into her relationship with Axel. The connection between these two was filled with fire from the start, and this is the kind of medium to fast burn I can get behind; one where the characters have a past and get back to what was always destined to be. And let's be honest: the spice tends to be quite hot when characters have waited for over fifty years to complete their connection!

Even though this book is part of a shared world, it's still possible to read it as a standalone. I am wondering though if some parts would have felt less rushed if I had read the previous books in the series first. The only reason I took away half a star is because parts of the storyline felt a little too rushed for me, but that might have been my own fault for not reading the other books first. That being said though, I still enjoyed it a lot and believe this book is definitely worth the read.

Even though this book only has one fmc and one mmc, there are plenty of side characters to fall in love with. After reading the epilogue, I'm actually hoping we'll get something more from Evera's daughters in the future, but we'll wait and see.

An amazing ending to an amazing world.
Let me start off by saying if you haven't already this series, Forgotten Kingdoms is so beautifully done by these amazing authors. You must read them all! Second M Sinclair is a wonderful and so well developed author. She has this beauty of creating these intricate stories and characters. This was her first M/F and I loved it.
Eveera has not had an easy life so her night of freedom on Halloween is something she's looking forward to. A chance to reconnect with her friend Stella and let go. Little does she know letting go winds up changing everything. Now Eveera is in a strange new world that feels somewhat familiar. She meets some kind people along her way who guide her to Axel. She realizes that shes some reincarnated princess who should not return to her family. Thankfully she takes the advice and path that lead her to Axel. Axel is the book boyfriend that everyone would want. He's a shining example of how men should treat their women. Axel has been fighting to create the perfect place for Eveera to come home to. There's just one problem. To truly give Eveera and the kingdom the peace it deserves her family must die.
Eveera is a breath of fresh air as an FMC. She's kind, strong and surrounds herself with some amazing besties. I loved seeing her story unfold and the magic between Eveera and Axel. This was the perfect amount of spice! The revenge was well done too! I couldn't get enough of this story and hated that it ended. Beautifully done M Sinclair!

The final book of this series has arrived! And it was a great one to close the series on. It was definitely one of my favorites of this series. Evera’s life hasn’t been all that great. She’s exhausted from trying to stay afloat and wants one night out with her best friend. But things are never that simple. Not when two men catch her off guard and seem to be enemies. Though she is quick to realize that one is definitely her enemy while the other is…someone who feels pretty safe to her. And if that wasn’t enough, she falls through a magic portal where she learns some pretty interesting stuff about herself. Like how she was princess who sacrificed herself fifty years before to save everyone. Now back where she belongs, her memories are slowly coming back and one thing she remembers the best? Axel. Her bodyguard who is now a king. A king of a land he rebuilt to oppose her parents’ and the darkness they bring to their kingdom. A lot has changed since she died, including Axel himself. As Evera tries to regain the rest of her memories and the magic inside her, part of which is her ability to shapeshift into a wolf, she needs to find a way to help bring peace to a kingdom that needs it so much. I really loved Evera and Axel’s dynamic. Before she died, Axel never believed he was worthy of Evera, especially when he was just a guard. But he loved her all the same. This time, they get a chance to have the future they both have desperately wanted and definitely deserve. A great end to this series for sure!

Of Claws And Chaos by M Sinclair is a fantasy romance.  Evera has struggled through a lonely life until she is pushed through a portal to another world. This is where she learns she sacrificed herself to save her people and it was professed that she would return in 50 years.  As her memories of her previous life returns she is on the run from her parents and searching for her first love AxeAxel.is.is now King of another land and desires nothing but making her his queen.  However with no magic or wolf this is impossible.  Will Evera regain her magic and win the fight for her kingdom against her family or will she fall again and be lost to Axel forever?

This story has a bit of darkness in it.  Evera's family are evil and care nothing about their kingdom other than the magic it brings them.  There is a lot of anticipation in this story as Evera regions her memories and readers worry if her magic and wolf will return?  Will she finally get the man she loved or is he using her like her family.  So many unanswered questions. She also struggles.to remember what really happened to her.  The story is filled with flashbacks as her memories return.some good some not.

I rated this story 4 out of 5 stars. There were a few parts that felt like the story was going one direction then it cut off.  Also as a story about Shifter I felt like the mention and inclusion was very limited.   If you enjoy stories about fated mates, other worlds, and action then you will enjoy Of Claws And Chaos.

This was such a good book. Even though it’s a stand alone book it goes along with other books that are link together in the same world. We have Evera she is living in Las Vegas trying to survive and make ends meet on a dead end job. On a whim she goes to a Halloween party last minute and ends up meeting two mysterious strangers that act like they know her. She ends up being pulled into another world and slowly starts to regain past memories of her old life and that of the two strangers one is her ex body guard who she loved named Axel.
We essentially see Evera get her HEA although it wasn’t easy. For a standalone book I think the author did well building the characters and story and not make it feel rushed like it seems can happen sometimes in these books. It felt like Evera had plenty of time to work through things and was not rushed into being with Axel. I also liked the twists and turns in the book where I was thinking something was going to happen but it turned out to be something different. It kept me guessing and I like that in a story. I look forward to reading the other stories in the series by the other authors. I also hope we get a continuation from the epilogue at some point as I was really invested in the new characters and think there could be a whole series there.

I liked this story, as always, with M. Sinclair as the author. However, I'm not entirely sure this author has figured out how to write standalone novels. She usually writes impressive series, but with this being a standalone, she wasn't able to connect me to the characters or get me invested in the story.

Character development was only surface-level.
Relationship development was only surface-level.
The plot was straightforward and unsurprising; It wasn't deep or particularly interesting.

But I still enjoyed this story for the most part, though I probably won't ever read it again.

Poor Evera couldn’t catch a break. Living day to day struggling to make ends meet and not being able to get ahead. After a night out with her bestie for Halloween her life changes in the blink of an eye.

After falling through a portal Evera realizes that she is no longer on earth. As she searches for safety memories begin to resurface revealing that she is indeed of royal blood and has magic running through her veins that gives her the ability to transform into a powerful wolf. The most shocking revelation is of the man who was trying to save her from being kidnapped by an enemy. Not only was he gorgeous but she also remembers that she once had a life with him. Memories reveal that Evera’s parents had dark plans and nefarious intentions for the use of her powers and that Axel is the only person she can trust.

This was a short and spicy read. Evera was such a loveable character who never meant anyone harm, but she just had a terrible life. Axel is what book boyfriends are made of. This man not only went to Earth to save her but was willing to burn down realms to protect her and keep her safe.

What to Expect:
Fated Mates
Reincarnation
Shifters
Princess/Bodyguard Forbidden Romance
Found Family (who could have stayed lost)
Mating Bites/Marks
Touch Her/Him and Die (literally)

50 years ago 8 women agreed to sacrifice themselves to save their kingdoms. This is Evera's story.

This story starts with Evera who doesn't have much of a life.Brought up in the foster care system she is now working two jobs just to try to pay her rent, barely any money for food and trying to fend off advances from her creepy boss. Just once she feels she deserves a break, so when a flyer gets pushed through her door for a Halloween Party at a place aptly named The Portal she throws caution to the wind and decides to go. Whilst there she gets pushed through a portal to another world and embarks on a journey through an unknown world dealing with danger, a villainous King and Queen and a mate bond so strong it may transcend even death.

I loved Evera and Axel. They are both very strong characters and perfect for each other. I do love a growly, possessive MMC and with Axel we get this in spades! I loved the way it was written, getting flashbacks to the past as Evera regained her lost memories giving insight into Evera and Axels past together. This fantasy, fated mates romance is part of a multi author series. I haven't read any of the other books as yet but they are definitely on my list now as I am sure I will enjoy them as much as I did this one

Good

Evera and Axel

Fifty years ago, Evera sacrificed herself to save the land that she loved.
Reborn on Earth, her life took a different path. After one fateful Halloween night meeting with her friend Stella, she finds herself transported back to the land she instinctively feels a connection to, but doesn’t have any memories of it, or the man Axel, who she finds herself drawn towards.
And now she has to figure out who and what she is, what happened to her magic, and just how to fight against the parents whose dastardly plots landed her in this mess in the first place.

This is a standalone book in a shared, multi-author world, and has some small ties to “Of Serpents and Ruins”, since Stella from that book, and Evera from this are friends. We also see Rhodelia from “Of Blood and Nightmares” but neither book needs to be read prior to this one because their appearances have no bearing on the story.
It’s a fun romantasy, with fated mates, and a definite “touch her and die” theme. Like the other books in this shared world, our heroine has some difficulties before she can live her happy life.
If you’ve enjoyed the other stories in this series, then you’ll have fun with this one too.
Recommended for romantasy lovers, PNR fans and M. Sinclair followers alike.

Who needs enemies when you have family..
This is M.Sinclair’s first full length MF novel and it was certainly a good one! The story follows Evera as she finds herself in some mystical world that is certainly not Earth, she feels a tug towards this mysterious man who showed up in her life and little does she realise he may be the key to unraveling the mysteries and memories surrounding her past… although a simple plot it is excited well with some points of intrigue and all answers provided in this one book :D for me it is the characters that sold this standalone. Sinclair is the queen of possessive protective alphas and this was evident in Axel our wild wolf shifter who seems to possess magic no-one else has. And he is smitten, head over heels obsessed with our leading lady and has done and will do anything to ensure they are together. Evera is a good mix of kindness, purity and a sense of justice - which she has shown she will do anything for! They’re a great couple and have enjoyed their story.

Evera is tired and exhausted for her day to day life and decided to have a night out with her girlfriend and as it is Halloween it seemed a perfect night to go out, little did she know that her life was to change dramatically! Evera and her girlfriend Stella head to the club Portal for their Halloween party, there as Evera is wandering around the club she comes to a garden pavilion, she gets the feeling she is being stalked. Evera turns and finds a man looking at her, he says it is good to see you Evera, and she is sure she has never seen this man before! As the man was dragging her to the shadows and she was fighting him he said he had waited 50 years for her. Then the portal that the man came through is growing larger and before she can comprehend what is going on another man emerged and the man holding her cursed in anger and Evera when she saw the other man she knew that he was safer then the man holding her. They begin to fight and in the fight Evera was pushed through the portal and like Alice in Wonderland, an amazing story unfolds that you must read, to see what had happen and why Evera is so important.
