The black sands of Eochaid's cursed isle hold riches far beyond measure. Vorgun the Wolf, a warrior with a blood-soaked past and a wolf's instincts, has joined with a crew of Skathuni raiders who seek this fortune.
But some riches demand more than courage to claim.
As mist swallows the ancient island and whispers drift through the twisted trees, Vorgun must decide what price he's willing to pay for a treasure that bleeds darkness.
Because sometimes even a Wolf must face horrors that blade alone cannot defeat.
Vorgun returns in a thrilling sword and sorcery piece. Vorgun signs on with a crew of seamen as a mercenary swordsman. They seek a fabled treasure of a long dead Sorcerer King. What they find is more than anyone could bargain for. He finds a kindred spirit in a warrior woman trying to restore her fallen clan. Vorgun, shield maiden, and battle tested crew are in for a rude awakening. The Sorcerer King centuries dead is not quite deceased. He regains his immense power, and only one man, the massive lone Wolf, Vorgun, survives. Good stuff!
Vorgun the Ravager, my fiftieth read from author Isaac Hooke. Hooke’s writing is Conanesque in nature but everything that made you love his sci-fic writing before is present in this new sword & sorcery fantasy work. “I received a complementary Kindle copy of this 162 page work and am voluntarily leaving a review." The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. I look forward to reading more from this author. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).
What a great sword and sorcery novel with an amazing battle between a savage warrior and a eldritch horror. I recommend this tale to anyone who enjoys gritty action packed fantasy. I am already looking forward to book 3.
While this book was short and had no spice, it was perfect! Such a beautifully written story! It reminded me so much of the Vikings show! I really enjoyed this!
