I liked this duology, it was fun, the FMC was gritty, spunky, and unique. I never really fell in love with the MMC but did warm to him towards the end. His motivations were self-serving even when they were typed to saving a family member, he was duplicitous. This story was a little chaotic at times and the architectural ambiance was less in book 2 than in book 1, which was had some interesting Cleopatra historical artifacts as part of the story, book 2 was more about stealing back the artifacts and dodging bad guys and relationship repairing, since MMC kind of really lost a lot of trust and respect from MMC. Still, good solid fiction with romance and some good character conflict and development.
