He bargained to prove her innocence. She offered him anything. And anything is a very dangerous thing to promise a faerie.

The Errant Reapers aren’t like the fae in bedtime stories. The bounty hunters are powerful, fast, and dangerous enough to be banned from every fae court. Milo is one of the best, so tracking down one measly human girl? Easy. Or so he thinks…

Until he meets her.

Jules is a struggling art student with a broken heart and no idea the fae even exist. When Milo kidnaps her off campus, she makes a desperate deal with her help her prove her innocence, and she’ll owe him the riskiest favor a mortal can promise a faerie—anything.

But Milo isn’t the only one who wants her. Hunted from all sides, Milo and Jules form an uneasy alliance. As Milo learns more about the crime Jules is accused of, the lines between enemies and something more perilous begin to blur. But which will be more difficult to protect—the walls guarding his heart or the girl who is breaking through them?

If you enjoy enemies-to-lovers, urban fantasy romance, tortured heroes, and plot twists that might make you throw the book, check out this first book in The Errant Reapers series. Perfect for fans of Shannon Mayer, Laura Thalassa, and Laurell K. Hamilton.

ARC review of A Name in the Embers by Haven Price
Release date: 30 May 2025

5/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
3/5 🌶️🌶️🌶️

“You beautiful stupid human.” 😭😭😭

My first 5⭐️ ARC read for the month of May!

WOW… JUST WOW. I went into the book blind and once again wow. I was hooked from the start. A fae bounty hunter and a human accused of something may/may not have done. There were no dragging pages, the world building was easy to follow, simple but gave enough details to form the world.

Milo (MMC) was more than loveable. He was strong, fast, grumpy and soft all the same. Jules (FMC) was young, naive, resourceful, and a great artist. The connection these two built was unmatched. The desire, tension and teasing… UNMATCHED 🙂‍↔️ I reaaalllyyy cannot say anymore without spoiling anything but I enjoyed how this book made me feel. I was lost in their world and I devoured all of it.

Easy recommend, no second thoughts. Please get your hands on this one when it’s out at the end of this week! 🤲🏼

Thank you to the author, Haven Price, for gifting me this eARC. All opinions in this review are my own.

A name in embers is a contemporary fantasy. Having Faes mixed with all sorts of creatures and humans, this story follows Jules and Milo as they turn from enemies to lovers.

What I liked: the story was a bit different compared to your usual fantasy.
The Main characters were both likable and their chemistry was there.

What I didn’t like: the story was fairly slow until the last 50 pages of so where too much happened. It made the pacing of the story feel off.
There was not a lot of world building so the story felt more like a contemporary romance than fantasy.

I just wished the focus was on the important parts of the story rather than the secondary plot lines.

I received an Advanced Reader Copy of A Name in the Embers by Haven Price in exchange for an honest review, and I’m so glad I picked this one up. From the very first page, I was hooked. The writing has a cinematic quality to it—it’s fast-paced without being rushed, and descriptive without bogging the story down. I tore through this book in just two days, but honestly, it could’ve been one sitting if I didn’t have real-world responsibilities.

The setup is instantly compelling: Milo, a fae bounty hunter (or Errant Reaper, as they’re ominously called), is sent to track down a seemingly average human girl, Jules. Except Jules is anything but ordinary—and that’s where the magic of this story lies. Their dynamic immediately crackles with tension, mystery, and that undercurrent of danger that only fae bargains can bring.

What stood out to me most was Jules herself. She’s emotional, open, and human in the best way. So often, female leads are written to be cold or closed off to seem “strong,” but Jules wears her feelings plainly—and that vulnerability makes her strength feel all the more real. She’s relatable and refreshing, and I found myself rooting for her at every turn.

Milo, on the other hand, is exactly the kind of morally gray fae I love reading about: powerful, cynical, and not nearly as untouchable as he thinks. Watching the relationship evolve between these two was such a treat, especially as the story peeled back layers of both of them.

The world-building is intriguing without being overwhelming. We’re introduced to fae politics, rogue Reapers, and hints of a deeper mythology that I hope gets explored even more in future books. And for readers who love Easter eggs, there are clever references to other books sprinkled throughout—I had fun spotting them!

If I had one small critique, it’s that I occasionally wanted just a little more backstory or context for the Reapers’ role in the larger fae world. That said, this is the first in a series, so I’m hopeful those threads will unravel further in future installments.

Overall, A Name in the Embers is a gripping, emotionally satisfying start to what promises to be an exciting series. With lovable characters, dangerous magic, and high-stakes fae drama, it’s a must-read for fans of romantic fantasy with a darker edge.

Jules is a normal human woman, going about her normal human life, at her normal human university, when she is effectively kidnapped by a super hot (also literally) fae dude.

Milo is the fae bounty hunter who takes her, because she is wanted by his father for reasons unknown, and Milo is desperate to rub how well he’s doing in daddio’s stupid face. And how better to do that than by being the one to turn in the girl who’s got a price on her head?

Obvs things don’t go to plan though, because banshee-Jules says the magic words, and Milo is helpless to deny her.

Now, I may be biased because I’ve read every version of this book - from when it was just individual chapters, to the first draft, to the beta read, and now the ARC…but I have loved every one. And this final, polished edition is my favourite.

Milo could have been ssuuuuccchhh an asshole if he’d been more like his family. But as tortured and unloved as he was, and though he joined the Reapers, he was an unbelievably good soul. I just wanted to take care of him!

Jules was so brave and so feisty - especially once she realised he wasn’t actually going to hurt her at all - and she was just the perfect person to help heal Milo’s emotional scars.

Also shout out to Sasha for being the most believable bestie. I loved her with all my heart.

But my absolute favourite part of the book was the final few chapters where Jules starts to think she’s losing her mind (sorry for vague but way too spoilery). The way her subconscious kept trying to tell her things was perfect.

So why are you still here? Go, preorder the book! Out May 30th!

A Name in the Embers grabbed my attention from the very first page, and I honestly couldn't put it down. For the most part, I enjoyed the pacing and was thankful it kept up the momentum, and I'm intrigued to see what else is in store for these characters in future books.

With our FMC, Jules, I like that she's just an ordinary girl. She isn't this rugged type who hides her emotions, oh no. She puts her feelings on display, and that's honestly so refreshing to see. We come in all shapes and sizes, and as someone who is highly emotional? It was nice to be able to connect with that aspect. Now our MMC, Milo, ooooooh boy! He is a shadow daddy without shadows, and I freaking loved him. He was everything I wanted in a MMC, and I really hope we get to see him continue to grow.

There were several side characters that I also fell in love with, so I'm really hoping we get to explore more of their backstories and personalities in future books. I'm hoping they won't remain just as minor side characters, but start to play a bigger role as the story progresses.

As for the tropes, YES PLEASE. I love forced proximity. Add that to enemies-to-lovers, and we have a winner. Their relationship reminded me SO much of Beauty and the Beast, especially THE scene in the woods. So much yes.

SPOILER AHEAD.
My only complaint is that I felt like the end was a little on the rushed side. I would have liked to have taken a bit more time, maybe a few more chapters, to go through Jules regaining memories. I was enjoying the tension of all of that building up, and some of it felt like we were ushered through it a bit too quickly. HOWEVER, I am very pleased they got a happy ending instead of ending on a cliffhanger that makes me want to yell into my pillow.

All in all, I really enjoyed this story. It had me kicking my feet in excitement SO many times, and I truly couldn't put it down. I'm excited for future installments! Thank you so much to the author for selecting me as part of the ARC read!

Milo is one of the best bounty hunters in The Errant Reapers. So capturing a measly human girl should be no problem for this fast and powerful fae. He certainly captures her with ease, however, Jules is not what he expected. She’s a struggling art student who recently had her heart broken so why is there a bounty on her head? Jules makes a desperate bargain with Milo to help prove her innocence as more bounty hunters track her down. We follow as Jules breaks through Milo’s defences in every sense of the word.

I absolutely devoured this book in less than a day! I was really sucked into the story from the very beginning. It keeps you guessing and the tension between Jules & Milo is amazing.

I really like how Jules came out of her shell throughout this story, she was very introverted but Milo brings out the wildness in her and it was great to see it develop. Loved when she was drunk on faerie wine and spilling her feelings!

Milo is your typical broody fae but behind his frowns are some heartbreaking trauma. I like that we got a glimpse into his past and that it didn’t completely harden him, he was so kind to Jules from the get go, even if it was begrudgingly at first. I thoroughly enjoyed his journey to realise that he is worthy of love too.

I loved all the tropes in this book, they are some of my favourites - Forced proximity, only one bed and enemies to lovers!

I would’ve liked more detail about ‘The Errant Reapers’ and about Milo’s family as I feel we didn’t get all the juicy details that we potentially could’ve had if it was explored more. I also felt a little disappointed with the ending as I felt it was rushed. There definitely could’ve been a second book for Jules & Milo as their storyline and the lead up to the end of the book was perfect for it! Nevertheless, I really enjoyed this book and am really looking forward to reading the ARC for book 2 next!!

Thank you Haven Price for the ARC of A Name in Embers. Here are my thoughts.

This book is clearly written by a reader for readers. Hidden within the story are multiple references to other books, which I enjoyed finding as I read it. This book was so easy to read and was very enjoyable. I finished it in two days, but could’ve finished it in one sitting. The story was easy to get into and the characters were relatable and lovable. Jules best friend is excellent and the ending was nicely concluded.

Jules, a human, has a bounty placed on her head. The fae bounty hunter, Milo, captures her rather quickly. The story unfolds as Jules and Milo make a bargain that ties them together as they work to uncover the reason for the bounty. This is a HEA book with spice.

Milo, is a sweet fae hiding under the rough bounty hunter persona he has adopted to escape his home life. Jules is an innocent, gentle human with an artist soul that learns to stand up for herself as she moves past her own betrayal.

If you enjoy tension and banter, urban fantasy, and characters on the run from those hunting them down then this is a book for you.

Tropes:
Forced proximity
Captive to lover
Family Betrayals
Magical bargain

Quote:

I’d give her anything to make her say my name like that. Again and again. I’m the one with magic, but she has all the power now. I’ve never craved someone like I do her—not just her taste, but her voice and her presence and the soft way she touches me when we lie in my bed. She’s taking over all my thoughts, and our bargain feels like a flimsy excuse for staying together.

I'm so grateful that Haven Price gave me the opportunity to read this as an ARC. I wholeheartedly loved it so much. I don't think, I've listened to a book on my kindle in a long time and just listened to it all the time and some parts I repeated.

( I also read along but my eyes have been a bit blurry that why I was listening 🎧)

Jules bless her heart. Is a art student just shy and timid, in her shell and having had her heart completely broken by a guy, whom just left without a word. Made her feel even more worthless and overthinking. Her journey throughout the book was amazing seeing her come out of her shell and be sassy, confidence in herself and healing what was lost and got pieced back together in this crazy wild ride that she was thrown in with Milo.

Milo, grumpy hot 🔥 🔥 🥵 Fae bounty hunter and his stupid human girl. He takes her captive, as his father wants her for reasons that aren't known. See how that goes his father's and brothers are No.1 Jack asses.

I loved that they both opened up to each other and had those conversations that are raw emotional and builds connections
And he supported her with her art even though he didn't know who she really was at one point, it touched me. Her whole life she wants just that one person to say it's okay to follow your passion it's alright 💗 your on the right of path

I do cry my eyes out at a moment where Milo friend was talking and it broke my heart for the guy. So kind and caring but deeply hurt.

Don't miss out on this book because I tell you I loved it so much

ARC review

Jules is an art student, she doesn’t go to parties and she’s just been dumped by her boyfriend. Determined to at least succeed as an artist, she spends a lot of time alone drawing. That is until she is kidnapped, dragged away by a strange (and weirdly handsome) man to be brought to justice for her crimes. Only she has no idea what those crimes might be, she is a nobody. He also claims to be fae, so he must be crazy, everyone knows they don't exist.Desperate to prove her innocence she strikes a deal with him..

You are quickly swept into the story and it’s mostly fast paced. It’s a bit predictable but still exciting, and no, I couldn’t guess everything that was about to happen. It has its twists and turns. It does have a bit of a YA feeling to it, which doesn’t have to be bad, it comes down to what you enjoy reading. One thing that I had a bit trouble understanding is where the fae live. I get that it’s mixed with the human world but they can still transport with mushroomcircles and it just feels odd that there aren't more ways to (for example) travel considering the magic. I liked this book, it has a good mix of magic, adventure and love, with a touch of spice. It’s a 3,5 for me but since you can’t choose that I will round up to a 4, it deserves that more than a 3.

A ‘Name in the Embers’ by Haven Pierce is an urban fantasy novel set in modern day. The story is dual POV following Milo, a Fae bounty hunter, and Jules, an art student with no knowledge that Fae even exist who was just dumped by her boyfriend via a hastily written note. Their paths cross when a bounty is put on Jules’s head and Milo decides to hunt her. However, she makes a reckless bargain-promising anything in return for him helping her survive. While not a true enemies to lovers theme, there is definitely distrust at the start.

This was a fast and easy read. The plot moved quickly, but I would have preferred more nuance and complexity in the story. I believe that this book is for a younger audience (bearing in mind that the book is on the spicy side with multiple ‘open door’ scenes). The approach was a little simplistic for my liking, but as I said it was an easy read and since I’m down for the count with a bad cold it was a pleasant read and just what I needed. I hope there will be a next book. I think the story is still developing and there is a lot of potential for further character development and societal building. I would also love to see more side character development and back stories.

ARC REVIEW 📚

As someone who typically isn't drawn to fae romance, I was surprised by how compelling this book was. The story grabbed my attention early on with well-executed fantasy elements, especially its worldbuilding - the intricate court politics, magic powers, and layered conflicts were interesting to explore. Although I felt that the ending was slightly rushed, the romantic tension between Milo and Jules throughout paid off in the end.

Character-wise, Milo was both interesting and infuriating. His political upbringing shaped him into a resilient, ambitious, and strong-minded person. However, I was frustrated by how he persistently denied his feelings for Jules. Still, I could understand where he was coming from given his background. Meanwhile, Jules initially came across as shy and artistic, but she later showed her assertiveness and resourcefulness in certain moments. Lastly, the spicy scenes were quite passionate.

I WOULD RECOMMEND IF 📒

If you're looking for a spicy, fae romance story with featured themes such as "enemies to lovers," "kidnapping/abduction," "forced proximity," "one bed," "touch her and d!e," "fae bounty hunter," "magical bargain," "primal play," and "HEA," then this is the book for you.

A Name in the Embers by Haven Price is an urban fantasy, duel POV novel following Milo, a fae bounty hunter and Jules, an art student. I am so glad I found this book after receiving an ARC copy of In the Absence of light, the second book in The Errant Reapers series.

This was a fast and easy read, the plot moved quickly but was still easy to follow. The world building was not overwhelming but definitely intriguing. We’re introduced to the fae, their politics, bounty hunters and a peak into deeper mythology in the world.

Jules is human in all the best ways. She is emotional, she wears her heart on her sleeve and her vulnerability makes her strong, she is ordinary enough that makes her relatable. I loved seeing her come out of her shell and becoming confident with herself.
Milo is morally grey, he is powerful and broody with some heartbreaking trauma. He is just grumpy and hot.
I loved the tension between the two of them, although Milo is grumpy, he was nice to Jules from the start. They both open up to eachother and had Rae and emotional conversations that deepened their connection.

I honestly devoured this book, it was quick and fun. If you enjoy banter mixed in with tension then this book is for you.

You have Jules, our heartbroken art student FMC and magical bounty hunting Milo (looks like he could kill you, is a cinnamon roll, could still kill you). I was initially unsure of this book, probably because of the mention of ACOTAR thrown into the mix right at the beginning and a feeling of insta-love happening. But once I got into it, I couldn’t put it down 😂

The world-building is quick and easy to follow, which made it really accessible right from the start. I really liked the dual POV—Jules and Milo both have strong, distinct voices, and getting inside their heads added a lot to the emotional side of the story. I really enjoyed the last part where Jules wasn’t sure what the hell was going on 👀

There are some great side characters I’m hoping we see more of in future books, and I feel like the author is setting up some really fun fae court drama (especially involving Milo’s family) that I’m excited to see play out.

Overall, an engaging read with a mix of romance, magic, and political tension. Definitely curious to see where the series goes next!

UNBELIEVABLE! Can’t even begin to express how much I loved this. The way this started out and how Milo was treating Jules had me convinced nothing was ever going to happen between them. After making a bargain to help her prove her innocence they end up spending a lot of time together and things progress pretty quickly. Jules learning about the fae world was so funny and I loved the way Milo and Jules grew together and the way the love blossomed between them. Milo’s male family members are the ABSOLUTE WORST BEINGS IMAGINABLE. Omg Milo’s scars had me SOBBING because that poor man, well child because he was a child when it happened, but still. Near the end of this I was sobbing again when Milo called in his part of the bargain and then the tattoo😭😭😭😭😭 Mercifully, it has a happy ending but man I really thought it was gonna be different. The spice in this was super hot and I enjoyed all of it. This book was fantastic and I can’t wait to see what’s next.

I got this as an ARC but all opinions are my own!

** ARC Review **

This book was a lot of fun to read. It was an easy read with a good flow and never got boring. There were some surprising twists and turns in it and overall was a very exciting read.

The worldbuilding.
The worldbuilding was so well done with how the powers and politics worked in this story. There is a lot of depth to that, without making it difficult to follow.

The characters.
Milo is amazing as an MMC. He has that broody, dark-ish look to him, but under the surface he is a sweetheart. His whole character had a lot of complexity, which made me love him and yet sometimes be absolutely done with him.
Jules was just an ordinary girl, no special things to her at all, and she had an amazing character growth throughout the story.

The only thing that made me give 4 stars instead of 5 is that the ending felt a bit rushed and there could've been a bit more about the side characters.

I really enjoyed reading this and I hope there will be more soon. Thank you to Haven Price for the ARC.

“And she’s beautiful. Beautiful the way storms are when they’re brewing in the sky, right before they unleash their fury. Even her eyes are stormy—blue gray and churning with thoughts and questions and her unspoken, but very loud opinions about everything.”

Milo, Milo, Milo 😍

What can I say except I am so ready for the next book! My broody guy really started to tug at the heart strings when I wanted to dislike him. His ability to open up towards the end of the book was so honest and pure 😭 Where can I find a Milo?!

“He’s clearly unhinged, and he’s drinking coffee with me like nothing is amiss. Just another day kidnapping college students and pretending to be Tinkerbell.”

Jules really grew to stand up for herself throughout this book and I loved to see it! I love to see how supportive her bff Sasha is also.

Lets not talk about Liam though… my dude can kick rocks 😡

Please note that there may be some triggers to look out for (kidnapping, alcohol use, attempted rape).

Thank you to the author for providing me an ARC to review.

I was hooked in Chapter 1! Milo is fae and a reaper. He became a reaper to be free of his family. Jules, is an art student, somewhat sheltered, lost her virginity to her boyfriend, who has now disappeared.

Milo ends up kidnapping Jules due to a bounty on her head. She has no clue why. Milo has something to prove so he is determined to collect the bounty. She is trying to convince she is innocent. Oh and she finds out he is fae. She didn’t even know fae existed. After some conversation and Jules learns a few things about Milo, a bargain is struck and the adventure begins.

There are chases, threats, murder, bantering, family drama, mention of abuse, sex (oh the sex), realization they love each other, and so much more. I mean it has it all! However, something happens that could keep them apart forever. Does it work or doesn’t it? The ending!!! Ugh!!!

This book is a must read!

Jules’ boring life takes turn when she’s kidnapped by a Fae bounty hunter. The problem? She doesn’t even know Fae exist, better yet what she could’ve possibly done to warrant being hunted by them!

Enter Milo- fae bounty hunter who has set his sights on bringing Jules in for an epic reward. Except, when she says she’s innocent, he believes her.

This book really takes you on a journey and keeps you wondering what’s going to happen next! I loved getting to see Jules grow more confident in herself as a person and watching her overcome insecurities in both her personal and professional life was something I think most people will be able to relate to! Watching Milo tackle his own similar issues made it clear they were the perfect pair!

If you like:
💚 urban fantasy
💚 magical bargains
💚 forced proximity (bounty hunter & fugitive)
💚 enemies to lovers
💚 dual POV

I just finished A Name in the Embers, Book One of the Errant Reapers series by Haven Price—and wow, I didn’t plan on reading the whole thing in one sitting, but I absolutely couldn’t put it down.

The story follows Milo and Jules, two strangers brought together by fate and slowly drawn into a connection that fills the voids in their lives. It’s a beautifully crafted enemies-to-lovers romance, laced with a touch-her-and-die edge, that explores how two wounded people can heal and grow stronger through each other.

Set in a hidden world where the fae exist alongside humans, the book seamlessly blends emotional depth, danger, romance, and spice. The writing flows effortlessly, pulling you into a richly imagined universe full of mystery and tension. Every chapter left me eager to see what would happen next.

If you love fantasy romance with strong character arcs and irresistible chemistry, this book is a must-read. I can’t wait to dive into the rest of the series!

I read this whole book in basically one setting, it's a fun, easy and mostly light-hearted read. So this is a great palate cleanser if you need something on the lighter side. A Name in the Ember is part of a standalone series within a connected world, so you have resolution and HEA for our main characters by the end of the book.

This is marketed as an urban fantasy, but I would say it's more a contemporary romance in a light fantasy wrapper. There isn't a huge amount of world building, and what we do get is very straightforward to follow along with, even if you're not a fantasy aficionado. The romance between Milo and Jules is at the primary focus, and while neither are particularly deep characters their banter is fun and the romance is sweet. I do like the fact we get a different kind of happy ending than we normally see with Fae/Human romances.

Tropes:
🔹Sunshine and grumpy romance
🔹Enemies to lovers
🔹Forced proximity
🔹One bed
🔹Human and Fae
🔹Captor and Captive

She made a deal with danger. He didn't expect it to feel like fate.

Milo is a ruthless fae bounty hunter, one of the infamous Errant Reapers—exiled from the courts and feared across realms. When he’s sent to capture a human girl accused of a deadly crime, it should be just another job.

But Jules, a heartbroken art student who knows nothing of the fae world, throws everything off course.

Desperate to survive, Jules offers Milo a dangerous deal: help her clear her name, and in return, she’ll grant him the most reckless promise a mortal can make—anything.

As they’re forced into a fragile truce and hunted from every direction, their reluctant partnership begins to twist into something deeper. But with time running out, they’ll have to decide what’s more dangerous: the enemies closing in… or the feelings they never meant to catch.

A Name in the Embers is a fast-paced and thrilling start to a promising series. It follows Milo, a fae bounty hunter, and Jules, a human girl who finds herself suddenly thrust into a hidden world of magic, danger, and deception. As the two work together to prove Jules’ innocence, they face escalating threats and uncover secrets that kept me turning the pages.

What I loved most was how easy it was to fall into the story—minimal world-building meant the contemporary-fae blend was instantly accessible, and the action never lagged. Jules may begin the story caught in chaos, but her journey is meaningful. As an artist, she shows quiet bravery and gradually begins to find her voice.

This is book one, and it absolutely left me wanting more. I can’t wait to see where Haven Price takes this story next.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Milo, a fae bounty hunter, captures Jules, a human with a rather large bounty on her head. They bed down in Milo's cabin in the woods to avoid the snowstorm raging outside and make the journey to the fae courts easier. But Jules proclaims her innocence, and Milo can't resist the offer of a magical bargain for him to help prove her innocence in exchange for literally anything from Jules. What follows is a journey of discovery and danger for the pair.

This was a great light romantasy read, set in the modern day, so not too much world-building to focus on. I really enjoyed the banter between the MC's and how their connection gradually builds. And the twist at the end was so emotional!

A fae/human enemies to lovers set in the modern world?? Yes please!

This book was marvelous fun. I thoroughly enjoyed how it referenced ACOTAR without making too big a deal about it. There are so many great throwaway lines - like “do you have a car or do you travel exclusively by mushrooms?” At the same time, there’s some top grade angst and past trauma to give the book an emotional edge.

There’s guyliner, ex drama, fairy booze, symbolic tattoos, The Handshake with her dad, a MMC who is “ghost chili pepper hot” and fae bargains. It’s a slow burn, open door book with a slightly primal element. There are some great side character who I suspect will be the main characters in future books. I can’t wait to read more in this world and I have no doubt other readers will feel the same. Add this to your TBR and see what all the fuss is about!

Adorable!

As a general rule, I only grab books with hundreds of ratings when I grab a new Kindle Unlimited book. That usually means they're decent and I'll be able to enjoy them vs them being chucked in the metaphorical "DNF" pile.

However, this one crossed my path and sounded interesting. I'm so glad I gave it a chance! It wasn't terribly long, had a few editing/spelling mistakes I noticed because my dad was always a stickler for those things, but the overall plot and characters thoroughly charmed me.

Could it have had a little more depth, a little more world building? Sure. But it felt far more like a modern fairy tale this way, especially with how it ended.

I will be watching Haven Price, because if this is her first book? I can only anticipate how much better she'll get. :)

Ahh I don't know what to rate this book. On one hand I enjoyed it but the entire time I was thinking how is this book going to turn into a series. There is no way, they are happy and sure they have a few kinks to work out. So I feel like that being my fault in not knowing I will give this book 4.25 stars.
Things I liked: Enemies to lovers. They both fell hard at the same time. Milo was so sexy with his eyeliner eyes. Loved the story telling and how we were introduced to the world. Jules is very lovable.
Things I didn't like: Jules is whiny and annoying. Everyone kept saying how pretty she was. Them hiding from their feelings.
I did love this story but something dragged on a bit and I wish that there was more action than what we were given. It was more of a story and not a book at times.

This was a fun book. Milo, a fae bounty hunter called a Reaper, tracks down our human FMC Jules to take her in order collect the large bounty that's on her head due to an unknown crime she supposedly committed. Once he kidnaps her, she enters into a bargain with him forcing him to help try to prove her innocence in order to free her. Other Reapers and other members of the Fae are also out looking for her. The story mostly focuses on the two of them as they hide out, slow burn into feelings and try to investigate who wants her found and why. There are occasional interactions with non-main characters that are involved in their lives as well. I really liked Jules' best friend. There isn't a lot of world building as it seems like the Fae in this world live slightly adjacent to the humans. There are also a few darker moments (side eyes his family.) However, the story itself sucks you in and is a good time.

✨ Multiple POV
✨ Enemies to Lovers
✨ Morally Gray MMC

A heartbroken art student and a court-less fae bounty hunter are thrown together to navigate a complex situation. “Thrown together” might be putting it lightly as Milo, our fae bounty hunter, ✨kidnaps✨ Jules to try to prove himself to his father.

Jules is a wanted fugitive in the land of the fae. Which is wild because she didn’t even know the fae were real! This story follows Jules and Milo as they unravel the reason behind Jules’ fugitive status and how she got entangled in matters of the fae in the first place.

I absolutely loved watching Jules find her voice and become more confident in herself as the stroy progressed. While the ending is a bit abrupt, this was a very satisfying and entertaining read.
