I came to Bluebell Springs for a fresh start. New job, new house, new me. As a social worker, I'm ready to make a difference in kids' lives. But when strange things start happening in my home, I can't shake the feeling I'm being watched. And then there's Ethan Bennett — the town's golden boy who's too perfect to be real. Why can't I get him out of my head?
Ethan
The moment I saw her, I knew she was mine. My little bunny doesn't know it yet, but she belongs to me. I'll do anything to keep her safe, to make her mine. Even if it means letting my inner monster out to play. Kayla thinks she can resist me, but she'll learn. There's no escape from my love.
Will Kayla discover the truth about her mysterious admirer before it's too late? Can Ethan's obsession turn into real love?
"Claiming His Bunny" is a thrilling stalker romance that walks the line between sweet and sinister. With a dash of humor and a whole lot of heat, this story proves that sometimes the most dangerous love is the kind you can't resist. HEA guaranteed!
Anna Svoboda is a stay at home mom and a part-time programmer. When she isn’t writing, working, or taking care of her family, she usually hides from the outside world with a book in her hand.

KU Read 320ish Pages Stalker Romance Small Town Serial Killer Triggers CNC Insta Love He falls first and HARD Read the triggers before reading, it's not an overly 'dark' book but there are some topics that can be triggering for some. Ethan is an obvious red flag with him being the Stalker but Kayla is waving her own by not only being so accepting but as she says ,'Ostriching' her way through this story. It's not a bad Read and is far more fluffy than I expected. Please remember THIS IS FICTION and not real so the FMCs acceptance of it all can be overlooked.
Claiming His Bunny: A Fluffy Stalker Romance by Anna Svoboda started off as a fun and intriguing read. We meet Kayla, who has just moved to a small town, seemingly for a fresh start after her boyfriend cheated on her (I can't remember). Much of the story-at the beginning-centers around her work as a CPS officer, the cases she's involved in and her new life at Bluebell.
Of course, this wouldn't be a romance without a male lead. Enter Ethan Bennet, the town's heartthrob. But Ethan has a dark secret, he'sa serial killer. And now, he's fixated on Kayla.
From the word "fluffy," I expected a lighthearted story that would require some suspension of disbelief, which is common with stalker romances. At first, the story struck the right balance. Kayla reacts like most women would-terrified by the idea of being stalked. But she also has a bit of a kinky imagination, which works for the genre. It's easy to let that slide, especially when Ethan is described as "hot," even though the book doesn't give much detail about him beyond the other women in town swooning over him.
However, the story took a turn that completely derailed the "fluffy" vibe when Ethan SAs Kayla. That shift plunged the story into dark romance territory, but it didn't check off the necessary tropes or themes that make dark romances work. Instead of addressing this moment with depth or consequence, Kayla inexplicably accepts it. Out of nowhere, we're told she's into CNC (consensual non-consent), which is used to justify the assault. The logic? She has a crush on Ethan so it's okay. That's where the story lost me.
Still, I pushed on, hoping it would redeem itself. Unfortunately, the focus shifted entirely to smut after the stalker reveal. While the steamy scenes were well-written, they dominated the story to the point where the plot became almost non-existent. I found myself skipping over the steamy parts because, by then, I was more invested in the potential of the storyline than the sex.
At the beginning, the book showed so much promise. It was engaging and attention-grabbing. But as the story progressed, it became clear that the smut was the main focus, not the plot. If the blurb had framed this as an erotica with fluffy, CNC themes, I would have adjusted my expectations accordingly and likely rated it higher.
That said, I did enjoy parts of the story, particularly the earlier chapters. And I'll always support books that feature interracial romance with a dark-skinned female lead, as those stories are still too rare.
The story had a lot of potential, particularly in its exploration of taboo fantasies, but it could have benefited from more balance between plot and smut to keep readers engaged.
I absolutely loved this book. I adore stalker romances and nothing tickles me more than a golden retriever stalker.
Kayla was an amazing FMC. I loved how strong she was in her workplace and how she could let go with Ethan. I loved that she had a brain and she used it!
Ethan *sigh* was just so freaking amazing. I adored how he stalked her. Cleaned her house. Took care of her. I loved his devious side. The cherry on the top for me was that he was a serial killer 😁 A golden retriever, stalker, serial killer....not forgetting kidnapper. What more can a girl ask for 🤩
As someone who reads alot of smut, the scenes were amazingly written The "BDSM" was done well and I loved that they talked and were on the same page.
This was my first book by Anna Svoboda. And I'm looking forward to reading more by her.
I don't remeber where i found this book - might have been BookTok? Anyway, i thought it sounded like a cute read so i i read it. And now that I'm done, I'm just so damn confused? Like what the f*** did i just read? It was so weird, and cringy. I went in to this book thinking it was like a 'joke' on dark stalker romance, and it was just a mess... I really wanted to like it - and it was not horrible i can just not get over what a clusterfuck it was.
Not sure if this is considered a spoiler - but i hidden it eitherway.
This book was the perfect mix of sweet and stalker! Kayla is a CPS worker who moved to a small town to try and move on from a breakup. Ethan is a private investigator by day and a vigilante serial killer by night who falls into insta obsession and insta stalker with Kayla. He stalkers her, and she wonders who the hell is cleaning her house! With great banter and a well written plot, this book was fantastic. Highly recommend!
Don't let the cover fool you into thinking this is only a sweet romance—not in the traditional sense anyway (it is still in the dark romance genre).
Ethan is obsessed and possessive of Kayla and has stalked her for a long time!! He is an unaliver to people who are unkind and cruel to others. She is a caring, sweet person looking for a fresh start in life. They both work in child services and take their job very seriously.
I enjoyed reading about them and watching their relationship grow, especially the steamy scenes! I loved how crazy Ethan was for Kayla, I was all in for that.

I had an early copy and am writing this review voluntarily
I finished this book🖤 With that being said, let me say… It was GOOD!!! (this is my opinion) It really brings the saying “You Can’t Judge a Book by its Cover” to life. If you like Dark Romance with Witty Banter, a Stalker, a Serial Killer and good Storyline with a Plot… I highly recommend you read this. I was totally surprised and LOVED IT. I liked it so much, I preordered the 2nd Book in this 2 book series “Stealing his Cupcake” which comes out in September. 🤦♀️🖤
💥Now this is NOT Unhinged or Pitch Black by any means. It does have its moments where you think it might, but it doesn’t go that far. Also, while reading this it did bring to mind a couple Dark Romance I’ve read, not saying it’s the same, it is not. But some parts did remind me of those.
This book was a perfect (and weird mix) of a sweet and dark stalker romance.
He’s crazy, obsessed, unhinged but also the sweetest man ever. He fell first and he fell hard. He definitely should schedule weekly therapy sessions too because … well, he’s a (sweet) psycho lol.
The spice was 5/5 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🥵
Main kinks : somno, spanking, bondage, primal play.
I hope she doesn’t think she looks fat in it, because as I watch her twirl in front of her bedroom mirror, she looks fucking perfect. Perfect to fuck. I push the thought away. I’m not about to attack my precious little bunny. We will be together eventually. She just needs time to get to know me, to understand there’s no escape. My monster claimed her, and there’s nothing anyone can do about it now. Least of all, her.
I mean, we keep complaining about men being unsure and playing with the FMC’s feelings or hurting her… which def doesn’t happen here.
A hysterical chortle escapes me as I imagine calling the police. “Yes, Sheriff, someone has been coming to my house every day for the past week. No, they didn’t steal anything. They just tidied my kitchen and did my dishes because I’m sort of a slob. Crazy? No, I’m not crazy.” ALSO. What kind of stalker cleans the house of the person they’re stalking ? The person who isn’t supposed to know they’re being stalked ?? Idk man, it’s supposed to be a dark romance but the author managed to make me laugh out loud 😭
For a first try in the dark romance genre (I think?), this was quite good. However, I am not sure this is truly a dark romance… or maybe my vision on dark romance is altered by the fucked up shit I read I don’t know 🤣 I think the author need to grow into their writing a bit more or maybe writing funny and half fluffy dark romance is simply their thing… I love it either way. I’m excited to read more from this author for sure !
Both MCs here are just good people. MMC is literally such a sweetheart, I was falling for him from the get! And his unhinged side is equally as impressive as his golden retriever side. It was kinda fast, especially the FMCs acceptance of him after he essentially sta|ks, r@pes and abducts her... But at the same time, the MMC is worth just accepting your fate with LOL. It’s an adorable read with minor, well deserved, v¡olence. If you want a starter, or fluffier, "Dark" Romance, this is it! It's better than Lights Out, but I probably liked it equally as much as (or a little less than) Rook and Rebel! I wouldn't really classify this as a "Dark Romance" personally, but, I really do like unhinged/depraved/ruthless men who are even a little ev¡l to the FMC - Ethan is literally NOT that at all.
Claiming His Bunny (Anna Svoboda - Stockholm Syndrome for the Win Series Book 1): Dark ser¡a| ki||er st@lker rom com. INSTANT øbsession (MMC), FMC is a CPS worker who transferred to a small town after a heartbreak, MMC is a PI who is also a Dexter style ser¡a| ki||er with OCD (let's just say the FMC is a slob, and he really has a hard time with that lol! It's "cute"/endearing OCD behavior), st@lking, drûgg¡ng, breaking and entering, violation of privacy (cameras), MMC ~cumtaminates~ her conditioner and lotion, sømnøphilia, mûrdêr/tørtûre (not detailed), su¡c¡dal thoughts (MMC), abduct¡on, restra¡nt/pr¡mal play, thr0at/hair grabs, sp@nking, se×/se×ual acts in public spaces, spice, non/dub-con (she's asleep/drûgged), Banter/flirting, øbsessive/protective/pøssessive/doting/cinnamon roll MMC, pøssessive/jealous FMC, CNC/pr¡mal play k¡nk, lured into danger (FMC), HEA.
Did you say a cinnamon roll serial killer / vigilante turned obsessed stalker? Sign me up.
This was a fun dark romcom. If I ever get a stalker in real life, I want them to be like Ethan. I’m tidier than Kayla but I loath cleaning the bathroom. Chocolate… I love chocolate.
Definitely instalove, but this was just so adorable in a darker way. That’s kinda my jam. Spice was full send at the 50% mark, specifically after the Ladynapping happens. And hawtttt damn does the slice burn!!
For the authors first dark romance, she nailed it. I’m no stranger to dark romance and I like all levels from beginner romance to pitch black trauma dumps, to the erotic horror darkness. There’s just something about dark romcoms that make my soul happy. It’s sweet but depraved. I cannot wait for Amy’s story!
What to expect? • POC FMC (I’m assuming MMC is white, but I don’t specifically recall it explicitly stating it) • CPS worker & PI investigator • Small Town • Insta Lust & Insta Love • Serial killer, vigilante, stalker • Somnophilia / Non-consent • CNC • Primal • drugging and Ladynapping • Strong FMC / Golden Shepherd MMC** • OCD MMC / Messy FMC • Mentions of child abuse & rape but not in explicit detail. (Don’t worry, those perps get what’s deserved) • HEA (interconnected standalone)
**Golden Shepherd is what I deem MMC’s who are utterly sweet and devoted to their FMC but will fuck anyone else up who messes with her or generally deserves it. **
the heroine finds out she's been kidnapped and is initially scared (for like 5 seconds), but then the hero hugs her and she's thinking "wow, i feel so content now". are you joking??? im sorry, but im gonna need her to be 80% more afraid, because this is just ridiculous. she BEGS him for sex like 3 minutes after she finds out she's been kidnapped by him.
also, this was supposed to be a fluffy cute stalker romance, and yet suddenly the hero rapes her in her sleep every night for like almost a week? it was SUCH a weird sudden turn of events, and came out of nowhere. and when the heroine finds out, she's just like "oh okay, im angry but also i will now beg him to fuck me". ???. make it make sense. if you as an author choose to have the hero suddenly do something super dark to the heroine, it SHOULD cause an emotional reaction in the heroine. choosing to forego that reaction because it wouldn't mesh with the "light and cute" vibe you initially went for? makes no sense.
so yeah, the whole book vacillated wildly between two different subgenres - dark romance and cutesy, fluffy romance. and it didn't work. it seemed like the author wanted to write two different types of stories, and couldn't choose just one.

Claiming His Bunny by Anna Svoboda is a somewhat light-hearted take on the stalker romance trope but with some serious and possibly triggering elements. Kayla has moved to Bluebell Springs after a nasty breakup. Surely this small, slow-moving town will be a balm to her spirit. On her first day working her new job in Child Protective Services Kayla literally runs into Ethan Bennett. Ethan works as a private investigator and does pro bono work for Kayla’s new job. Their first meeting is awkward, Ethan barely acknowledges her existence! However, for Ethan this meeting is transformative, after years of perfecting his good guy persona while dispensing justice to predators, he bumps into the love of his life. How can he keep her safe and, in his sight, while also practicing his brand of justice? Well, if you are a tech genius with a fine attention to detail, then you surveil every aspect of your loved one’s life without letting them know how you feel. As the story progresses, Kayla is more and more able to feel Ethan’s presence in her orbit but is she ready for the reality of his unrelenting attention? I really enjoyed this story, dark, but with two appealing main characters and funny dialog. Granted it had borderline ridiculous scenarios but for me that made the story that much more enjoyable. https://theretiredreader.com/f/claimi...
4⭐ 2.5🌶️ Tropes: Insta-love, stalking, possessive MC, dark romance, vigilante, small town Triggers: CNC/dubcon/noncon, Somno, grape, CA, DV, murder
When Kayla takes a job working at CPS and moves to the small town of Bluebells Spring, the last thing she expects is to also have a stalker. Ethan Bennett, PI, is Bluebell Spring’s golden child hottie, but he has a dark secret. He’s a serial killer who feeds his psychopathic tendencies by hunting down and killing child predators and the moment he sets eyes on Kayla, he’s decided that she is his.
Overall I enjoyed this story- I really enjoy serial killer/romance stories and since this was billed as being “fluffy” it was right up my alley. I don’t think it was as fluffy as I expected but it was very cute, sorta like a sexy Dexter rom-com. The story was predictable but fun, and I found the leap from like to love (with Kayla) a little unconvincing but this was still a satisfying read. My only other complaint is the author kept using the word precious and it honestly got a little icky for me. I just… the term “precious pu$$y” is just weird lol.
✨✨✨Arc review✨✨✨ Love this book this was my first read by this author and i absolutely loved it this dark romance was really sweet in a way . I love me a stalker romance 😩Ethan is such a sweet heart very likable and charming lol . Kayla is a strong women that’s fierce stands up for her self which I liked a lot . I loved the banter between the two it was alot of funny moments , I loved the slow burn it was a great pace had me staying up late at night waiting for the deed to finally happen lol . I loved how caring Kayla was especially as her being a cps worker was touching how she cared so much about children . Now for the plot it was Great it had me in my toes lol I don’t want to spoil much but I definitely will say this was a great read and I enjoyed it loved loved loved it 💖💖 ✨✨✨Arc Review ✨✨✨
It was a dark rom-com. It was dark, spicy, and hilarious 🤣 I absolutely loved how unhinged and unapologetic Ethan was.
Kayla is this awesome CPS worker; but she is also kinda a badass, especially when it comes to protecting children. We love a good, strong female lead 👏🏻
🥵 Ethan is a PI but also a deadly serial killer. Who ends up stalking his lil bunny until she falls in love with him. He's the most loved guy in town, and he's a protector of children.
I loved their banter. And that chase scene was fantastic 🤌🏻. I enjoyed all the side characters as well; they definitely added to the story and made Kayla feel welcome atber new job and town. The story was great. It kept me engaged and wanting to come back for more. The ending lines were perfect.
Thank you to the author for a chance to ARC read this. I loved it and can't wait to read more of her work.
I don't even know how to do this book justice! First, I love the cinnamon roll only for her and am not a fan of bully romances. While I love a good stalker romance, I've never met a serial unaliver who was not a bully. This one was chef's kiss perfection. There was continual progression of the story. It did not stall or fall to just being smex scene after smex scene. There was plot. There was personal development. But there was also plenty of fun, primal play, humor, and somno. This book hit all the boxes and I'm thinking this author just got herself a new stal-- fan. Fan. That's what I meant to say. Even though I'm totally going to buy out her Amazon catalog.
Oh my goodness I have never read such a hilarious stalker book in my life. The quips and bantering had my husband glance my way a few times while watching TV . Kayla works for CPS she transfers offices to a small town to get a fresh start. Ethan is a private detective that has a dark secret. Living in a small town helps keep himself away from nosy individuals. Falls for Kayla from the moment their worlds collide. Kayla becomes his new obsession. But when a case Kayla worked on puts her life in danger, his helpful stalking turns into her avenging knight … will they be able to live happily ever after, or will love be skittish after Kayla discovers Ethan’s past.
For nearly the first half of this book, I loved it. The plot was great, the main characters went after child molesters/abusers, and the tension between Ethan and Kayla was fun. However, when Ethan rapes Kayla in her sleep, the book lost me. Not only does he drug her, be he repeatedly has sex with her while she is asleep, ALL BEFORE SHE KNOWS WHO HE IS OR IS EVEN WITH HIM.
I have read books where the MMC has done sexual things to the sleeping FMC, but this wasn't good. Ethan kidnaps Kayla and her first words to him are, "You raped me." And he admits to it! I can't keep reading this, because I have lost all love and respect for Kayla, and this book. When the MMC rapes the FMC, then justifies it by saying she was too irresistible, I'm done.
Tw: Stalking, kidnapping, drugging someone without their knowledge or consent
Tropes: POC FMC, Somnophilia
Dark. Romantic. Comedy. Let it sink in. What a ride this was. And I absolutely loved it. In a pleasant turn of events, Kayla is a POC FMC and finds herself the apple of the eye of Ethan, a small-town hero and celebrity. A private investigator who does CPS work pro-Bono, Ethan hides his dark alter ego well. There are some things that require a suspension of belief, but who could REALLY turn down a stalker who cleans your house? This story had me snorting, in disbelief and laughs, but it's definitely a good time.
Fluffy indeed but also ridiculous. I didn’t like Kayla she was annoying and my biggest ICK in a book is when the FMC or MMC is masturbating after meeting their lead character ONCE and screaming out their name in the shower. Are you okay, nobody should be that horny!
Get a grip!! And maybe on something other than your dick or clit.
I also HATE the trope of characters being like omg I’m starting to love this person after they have sex. PLEASE!!! HAVE MORE SUBSTANCE AS A PERSON I BEG.
All in all my bitchy judgmental side did appear increasingly more and more as I read but I did like Ethan and I am down with the murder of pedos and child abusers so those are this books only saving grace.
If you’re into twisted yet surprisingly tender romances, this one is for you!
Claiming His Bunny nails that fluffy dark romance vibe with an obsessed, psychotic MMC who somehow makes you giggle in the middle of his… well, less-than-legal acts.
Ethan’s mix of protective obsession and surprising charm reminded me of Zade from Haunting Adeline—he’s the kind of dream guy who breaks in just to clean your house. Yes, he’s unhinged, but isn’t that why we love him?😍
Also… Shampoo. Enough said. Just… Shampoo #iykyk
If you love dark stalker romances with a deranged yet oddly sweet MMC, this book is a must-read.
The small town stalker romance, I didn’t know I needed. Throw in a little CNC and Stockholm syndrome, yes please! It’s not a dark read like I normally go for so the change was refreshing and dare I say romantic. The story is so good. I love a possessive man and the way Ethan falls first and claims Kayla, Yum!! Even after Kayla discovers Ethan’s darkness it’s already too late. She’s literally been talking to him for weeks unknowingly and definitely developed a soft spot for him. The spicy scenes are hot and the lead up even better!! The back and forth banter is so funny between them. I really enjoyed the story. I’m excited to see book two and what happens with Amy.
I really enjoyed this book. It was all the obsessive/possessive vibes without him actually hurting her which isn't always the vibe I am after. This book was perfect for the mood I was in. I really enjoyed Ethan, although my brain kept reading Emmet because he is Ethan Bennet and my brain was struggling so the first chapter heading that said Ethan I thought who is Ethan, but that is a me problem. I really enjoyed Kayla and her passion for helping people and her dedication to doing her job well. Overall really fun read that was a little dark without being overwhelming.
It is glaringly obvious this author does not write dark romance. The only time I enjoyed this book was when there was nothing going on and Kayla and Ethan were just talking, and even then that got a bit rough. The writing at the beginning is mediocre. The dialogue throughout is trying too hard and yet stiff at the same time.
The best the book got was towards the end. I warmed up to the book at chapter 21. Chapters before that were rough. I almost DNFed it 3 times but stuck with it. The conflicts were good. Their relationship is cute. When the book was nice it was nice but it’s heavily overshadowed by things that should have not been written.

What a fascinating story! LOL While it was a bit gruesome and ick in a couple of spots (to be expected, I mean, look at the cover), the story was exciting, the setting was fantastic, and the characters were wonderfully amusing.
My favorite quote is from Kayla: Truth be told, this not-relationship we have is the best one I've ever had. I have the freedom to be single paired with the safety of someone watching over me. I get to talk to someone who simply listens instead of offering me unwanted advice. Plus, free house cleaning.
Oh my! This book was perfection! This whole cinnamon roll serial offer trope has me in a chokehold. We have a strong female who isn’t whiny (so refreshing) and a super hot serial who stalks her and cleans her house!? I mean I’ve never really wanted to be stalked before now. Yes please! I loved both characters. The writing just sucks you in and the storyline has just enough happening to keep you interested. Not to mention the 🌶️ is 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🥵🥵. If you enjoyed books like butcher & black bird or lights out read this next!
I want to start off with a warning about sensitive topics- please read trigget warnings before diving in.
WHO doesn’t want a stalker that cleans your house, brings you flowers and chocolates, helps you with your research for work, and protects you AND KIDS?! Whew!
The author describes this as a fluffy dark romance, and I cannot agree more. I love how she brought this story to life and wish there was more! Maybe a bonus chapter down the road?!
Ethan gave me Dexter Morgan vibes and I love it. Kayla is a fierce protector of her loved one and kids. Together they make a kickass team.
