As a reader who has had the opportunity to connect with a few authors since joining a quaint "little" Facebook group (Military Thrillers Book Group) a tad shy of two and a half years ago, I can honestly say what a pleasure it was to interact with one such author, Mick Williams.

About two months ago, I received an innocuous message in Facebook asking if I might be interested in a new novel that he had coming out towards the end of March in return for maybe giving it a "second set of eyes" and possibly providing a review once the book was released.

This novel turned out to be a gripping thriller that revolves around a skilled assassin, Katy King, and her dangerous missions. The story begins with Katy in a precarious situation—she’s being driven by a man who seems intent on killing her. However, she turns the tables, revealing her lethal skills as she eliminates him and completes her mission. As the narrative unfolds, we learn of her backstory and her current task of tracking down a missing woman named Vanessa Cooper. The plot thickens when Katy finds herself being hunted by an Albanian assassin, Ambra Bardhi, who seeks revenge for the deaths of her team members in a previous encounter. The intertwining of personal vendettas and professional duties creates an intense atmosphere, leading to a series of confrontations that test Katy’s abilities and resolve.

On my self-determined five-star scale, I would give this short yarn (307 pages) a solid four stars, as I really enjoyed the book because I found that the narrative presented a realistic portrayal of an assassin’s life, showcasing not only the physical confrontations but also the psychological toll that comes with taking lives. Katy’s internal conflict emphasizes the weight of her choices, making her a complex character rather than a mere cold-blooded killer. To top that off, I believe that the ending of the book to be a definite start to a thrilling new series.

As with all my literary ramblings, this is my five cents worth.

Mick Williams has done it again! How he keeps coming up with such great story ideas I’ll never know. He’s one of the most versatile writers I know. Everything I have read of his has been brilliant so I knew this would be too.
This book begins with Jason, hiring Katy (along with her sister, and colleague, Marsha) to find his sister. I’m not sure I’d be as quick to hand over a chunk of money to a company I’d never heard of before, but he’s obviously desperate. When they start looking into this sister though it’s soon obvious that this isn’t a straightforward missing person’s case. Far from it! And Jason isn’t who he first appears to be.
There’s not much else I can say without spoiling it for you lovely people who haven’t had the pleasure of reading it yet, but I can tell you that this story has some kick@ss female characters!! Katy and Marsha are instantly likable. Ambra grew on me. Others not so much.
There are a few other interesting characters, maybe not so likeable, but interesting all the same and integral to the plot. A plot which is full of action, intrigue, fantastically choreographed fight scenes, and an explosive conclusion!

** Many thanks to Mick Williams for my advance review copy **

There I was, counting on getting some work done, when I stumbled on (okay, looked for and found), another book by this excellent British author, Mick Williams.
This time his central character is PI Katy King, who agrees to help client Jason Cooper find his sister. The fact that he knows almost nothing about his own sibling should have rung bells and made her go on holiday instead, but work is work.
Cue the start of Katy finding herself dragged into a web of misinformation and intrigue, where professional assassins all seem to converge on her, and she has to resort to extreme measures to survive.
If you like tension, full-blooded action and intrigue leavened with Mick Williams' trademark dry humour (or even if you haven't tried his work yet), then buckle up and jump in.
I loved it and I'm sure you will, too.

Katy King with her sister Marsha runs a "Dissapearing inc.", agency you contact when you want somebody "lost or found".
Katy is a field operative, while Marsha is computer wizard running things from their office, chewing her bubblegum.
When they decide to help Jason Cooper find his missing sister who disappeardx without a trace, little they know in what crazy action packed adventures will they find themselves in.

Collateral damage is a action thriller (more action then thriller) full of action with a sprinkle of humor in right places. All characters are awesome (especially Marsha), their interactions interesting, funny and very early on you start to care about them. Book was very interesting to read, it wants you to read it fast with its twists, and I felt like I was reading an action movie.

COLLATERAL DAMAGE - An interesting, possibly a new series, and humourous story filled with assassins, twists and plenty of action. A hired search for a missing sister leads to surprises, secrets and unexpected alliances in this fast paced, enjoyable story. Source: The author. 5*

Old Farts Club Series:
EXODUS: The Old Farts Club, #1 - I had the pleasure of reading this in paperback. The characters range in personalities, skills and opinions, but they are one unit, one team, brothers; even the British dude. Realistic, no Rambos here, just men doing the right thing. The story lines are interesting and immersing making the book hard to put down. The support characters are good and even their own bits added more depth. Of course, a bit of British cuisine made its appearance, which I found funny since the names of these dishes, and some ingredients, can repel the American palate. There are a couple of unexpected happenings that surprised me, usually I know what to expect; read as much as I do, and have, and there are rare surprises. 5*

DARK TARGET, #2 - I laughed myself silly at the two different ops that were in progress simultaneously, each without knowledge of the other. Of course, there was plenty of action along with the humor, and some slapstick dialog between members of the least experienced team. There was some interesting technology used. While he does not write about the law, I place Mr. Williams on par with John Grisham. 5*

MAN DOWN, #3 - What an intense, mesmerizing, interesting and humorous story. This book cost me some sleep since I refused to stop reading, couldn't actually. The characters, the story lines, the action and the fact that hope was always part of this story made for a whirlwind ride. Mr. Williams never let's me down and I love his writing style. The generosity and live balanced the dark. Source: The author. 15*
