North Coast Omegaverse #1

Taken by the Pack

Rate this book
Three Alphas. One Omega. And a heat I never saw coming.

All I want is to get my flower shop off the ground—on my own terms.
But when trouble strikes… the town’s most off-limits Alphas come to my rescue.

Jake, the steady protector who’s always been by my side.
Ash, the brooding heir who walked away from his empire.
Rowan, the wildcard who swore he’d never fall for anyone.

I don’t want to need them.
I can’t need them.

Until my heat hits out of nowhere…
And suddenly, they’re all I can think about.

But someone wants me gone for good.
And claiming me might cost them everything.

Taken by the Pack is a standalone MFMM Omegaverse romance with knotting, heat, and fated mates. No shifting, but all the spicy pack feels you crave.

This certainly was a book! 😂

Story: ⭐️⭐️.2
Spice: 🌶🌶🌶🌶

Read on KU.

This was my first "omegaverse" book. I didn't really know anything about it lol. Also my first RH.

⚠️⚠️ SPOILERS AHEAD⚠️⚠️

⚠️⚠️ SERIOUSLY LOL ⚠️⚠️

Did they for real put ALL THREE d*cks in her vegeen at once?? 😂😂 She was like "omg Ash is so big and he knotted" then added Rowan's AND Jake's??? and she was a VIRGIN LIKE A DAY AGO. Things be different in Omegavilla.

Part of me wanted to like the story but ALL the boys had female deaths in their close circle? And besides for one scene at the end, the fact that Grace grew up in foster care was never relevant? Grace had no personality beyond "I'M IN HEAT HELP ME BOYS 🍆💦💦💦"

I also really like slow burn so her showing up at Roman's and being like FINGER ME DADDY was pretty jarring. Also they barely know each other but are in love? And what was this bonding ritual.... I don't get it.

There were several parts where the writing was weird... "Grace: I pushed my forehead into his chest. His body shuttered as I skimmed my teeth across his jaw." Girl how is your mouth on his chest and his jaw at the same time. And sometimes I had to backtrack because their positioning didn't make sense.

Idk, I read this on vacation and was entertained I guess. I skimmed through the last couple chapters because the plot was an after thought. This was just good fanfic really.

The story line could have been good but there was no depth or character building. The book synopses was better than the actual book.

I wouldn’t call this a high heat book or even an emotional book. It feels very surface level.
It 100% feels like she is a second choice for two of the males
Later on, I get that she is not, but you can’t help feeling like she kind of is
Plus, there’s the fact that this is categorized originally as dark and it 100% is not dark at all I wouldn’t even call it gray

That could also be because I read things that are genuinely dark and twisty so when I get to a book like this, and it has some darker themes, but the whole of the book really isn’t that dark then I just don’t feel like it should be categorized as that

My main problem though was just the fact that it feels like she becomes the center of their pack not from necessity or from the fact that she is their center but more like they just figure it’s time or think that she’s good enough

Also, a lot of things were left unsaid because it’s such a surface level book and a lot of random questions I had throughout the book are never answer
And lastly, what the heck was with the heat spikes?

Normally, it’s at least mentioned in a book why they would be having that sometimes it’s trauma sometimes it’s because they’re older and a doctor will be like oh it’s your body because you found your true mate or whatever it is, but this just felt like away for the author to make them do something physically, and it felt forced and weird

What happened to the ending?

I’m new to Nora Quinn as an author so I don’t know if this is her style, or if this was one of her first books. There were inconsistencies throughout the book which didn’t disrupt the story too badly, but the end was super rushed and incomplete. I liked how much the characters genuinely cared about one another and supported each other, but their stories were just touched upon without any resolution. It the end was just strange, like the author just got tired of writing the story and called it good.

Omegaverse, why choose, which started out promising but left me kind of flat. I didn't love the FMC, she was surface level and her personality traits were more annoying than endearing. Another issue was the plot jumped around a lot. One minute the characters acted one way and then the next scene that whole intention was totally forgotten. It was also odd that a major plot line was introduced at like 85% and then another big thing at 95%. The ending was rushed and the last plot line should have been introduced much earlier.

Cute and steamy

Simple omegaverse read. I loved how close the mmc's became but I was a little thrown off by how fast they welcomed Ash to the pack. Not necessarily a huge deal just struck me as odd. Jake was surprising... a pierced alpha... becomes mayor? Okay lol. I also wish I had more of their back stories especially Rowan. Also how did she manage to take three in one hole at a time when she was a virgin 3 days ago... like anatomy is still a thing in omegaverse books right?

"Taken by the Pack" is a delightful story in standalone MFMM Omegaverse. It’s a romance that skillfully intertwines themes of vulnerability, the yearning for independence, and the intoxicating pull of unexpected love.

Grace is a fiercely determined woman striving to launch her flower shop. However, her carefully constructed life takes a significant turn when three distinct and captivating Alphas (Jake, Ash, and Rowan) enter her world, each bringing a unique flair to the story.

I soon became immersed in the charming smalltown atmosphere of Driftwood Cove. The author paints vivid scenes that shows us the evolving relationships and emotional struggles the characters face.

Grace is portrayed as relatable and strong willed, making her journey of self-discovery all the more engaging. I loved her little routine of greeting her flower shop “Haven”, that just made me smile. The dynamics between her and the three Alphas add a rich emotional layer to the plot, effectively challenging her preconceived notions about love, support, and vulnerability.

Jake, the rugged protector and mayor, embodies steadfast determination and charm, effortlessly tugging at Grace’s heartstrings. His presence brings a sense of safety, yet his own challenges and responsibilities add depth to his character.

Ash, the calculating and powerful Alpha, contrasts with Jake, as he grapples with his past and present motivations, ultimately illustrating that love can emerge from unexpected sacrifices.

Meanwhile, Rowan’s brooding nature and hidden vulnerabilities create an intriguing tension that stirs curiosity and desire in both Grace and myself. 😜

The romantic tension in "Taken by the Pack" is palpable and beautifully depicted, especially as Grace finds herself grappling with her primal instincts when her heat strikes. This internal struggle between her yearning for independence and the overwhelming allure of the Alphas she initially resists is explored with finesse.
The author captures the essence of desire and emotional turmoil really well.

The threat lurking in Driftwood Cove enriches the storyline by introducing an element of suspense that kept me guessing, and reading well past my bedtime!
As trouble arises, Grace must confront her fears and insecurities while navigating the complexities of her budding relationships with Ash/Jake and Rowan. This adds a layer of tension that propels the story forward, ensuring the story is not just a romance but also a little mystery.

Overall, "Taken by the Pack" is a charming blend of steamy romance, suspense, and emotional discovery.

Nora Quinn delivers a book filled with rich characters, intense feelings, and captivating connections, creating a must-read for fans of the Omegaverse genre. With its beautifully crafted world, intricate character dynamics, and a swoon-worthy happily ever after, this book is going to linger for a while in my mind. 💜

I had seen someone recommend this series/talk about it a FB group and I am a sucker for omegaverse so I thought why not! I have been reading RH for a long time, before it really boomed in the book industry and this one felt off to me. I don't throw around AI lightly but this just felt like someone put in a prompt and got some scenes came out and didnt actually go back through and clean it up, check for plot holes. Again I don't say this lightly but someone who has beta read and alpha read, this just felt unpolished and unfinished.

I liked the characters, and the major storyline was good and it things were cleaned up I would have probably given it a 4 but because things that contradicted earlier scenes, some explanations that wasn't necessary because the 2 characters were in the scene earlier when it was said, a lot of jumping between timelines and just not having a nice flow made it seem like a newbie author or again someone not putting in the time and effort to make their book as good as it could be. I liked the different guy personalities and Grace was adorable and feisty. I liked our nerdy Ash, the grumpy Rowan, and the friendly/funny/chatty Jake. I am interested how they overcome Ash's family and how things ended (his family was god-awful, I hope they get karmic justice!).

I get not paying for editors/proofreaders if you are strapped for cash, no digs at anyone, I know how hard it can be right now. But beta and alpha readers are free in our community so these issues could have been noted and fixed, it would have just taken a little more time to finish it up. I don't think I will read more from this author, I will be trying new authors to me and I fear with more AI involvement and people trying to get on bandwagons we will probably see more of this. And again if they didnt use AI then hopefully with the money they've made from this book since its still doing pretty well on the charts respectively, they can get more in the community involved to help bring this to an elevated level. There is potential, but not executed well unfortunately. Again there are readers who will help and be part of that author journey so there shouldn't be reasons why they couldn't improve and give us what I think they could with their stories and lovely characters.

Grace has been on her own since she was young & worked hard to finally be able to open her flower shop. She is an Omega who has been taking pills to keep from having a heat spike, however one day they stop working. On her way home in a terrible rain storm she goes into heat & her car dies near Rowans lighthouse. He helps her through the heat this one time, but wants her gone the next morning.
Rowan lost his mate to the sea a long time ago & has no desire to "people" anymore. He goes out to fish & sells them at the market in town. He has chosen the quiet life so as to not give away his heart again.
Ash has always been a loner, never really fit in with his uber rich real estate family & likes to hang out by the sea using his marine biology major He accepts a job in Driftwood Cove to research the tide pools. Ash lost his mate to illness & has no desire to find love ever again.
Jake works at the market & has been in love with Grace for yrs. He stops in at her shop to check on her every day. He has been trying to get her attention forever, but she is very closed off. He lost his sister in a terrible accident & has had an awful time moving on.
As Grace continues to heat spike, Rowan & Jake with the okay from Grace decide to enter a fake relationship to keep other Alphas in town from trying to mate her. Ash has peaked her interests as well & she lets them know that she wants him as well. I feel like Grace was just what Rowan, Ash & Jake needed to help them move on from the heartbreak of their losses & they are there to help her open up & allow others to help her. She is no longer alone, they want to protect her & keep her safe.
Trouble lurks in the shadows & someone doesn't want Grace to continue running her shop. A developer has come in & started purchasing up properties, trying to run the locals out of town. Can the guys keep her safe & help her maintain her flower shop as well?
This story was a solid two & a half to three pepper spice, these guys made sure that Grace was very well taken care of, if you know what i mean! Enjoy!

I really enjoyed this – as this was a sweet small town romance with the RH omegaverse romance thrown in there but it was only a 2 level spice for me. I would have loved to have seen the MMCs connect a little more but this was a solid 4 star book/read for me.

All four of the characters had some kind of trauma and found solace in each other by the end of the book. Sweet sunshine Grace who never really had roots growing up was determined get established in town while also running her own flower shop but determined to make it on her own. However one day her suppressants fail and send her right to Rowan’s doorstep with a heat spike during a horrible storm. Rowan had a mate and lost her, so he retreated into himself and became the local grumpy fisherman that the town pretty much avoided. But Rowan helped Grace out of her heat spike as a 1 time thing only to end up making a pact with another local Jake that has had a secret crush on Grace for awhile. Jake lost someone important to him too but is head over heels for Grace and friendly with Rowan as he is who Rowan sells his fish to. When Grace runs into continued issues with her heats drawing unwanted attention in town, both Rowan and Jake decide with Grace’s approval to have a fake relationship with Grace to protect her. Everyone is on board with this plan when Ash rolls into town and is immediately drawn to Grace as well. Ash also lost someone important in his life and withdrew into his work as a marine biologist. His family doesn’t understand and are wealthy/entitled. Ash was sent to this area to study the tidal pools since he is so dedicated to his work and research. All 3 of the MMC orbit around Grace and she heals something in each of them as well as grounds herself. But there is always trouble lurking and Grace might find her HEA slipping away but these guys vow to protect her.

This book was... cute. I wish I could say more, but it felt like it had so much potential that ultimately went underdeveloped. Too much was left unexplained or hanging. A few examples:

👉🏻 Why was Grace suddenly going into these unexpected heats at random times? (Other than, you know, so the characters could hook up.)
👉🏻 Rowan seemed to be the only one who got closure for his loss. Jake sort of confronting the cliffs could be considered closure, but that’s a very thin argument.
👉🏻 Ash lost his MATE, but aside from a few mentions and some connection with Rowan, it didn’t really impact the plot.
👉🏻 Who was Fiona, and why did she and her pack just show up for a second and leave with zero explanation? There’s a cryptic moment where Jake thinks, “I don’t miss how Fiona shifts slightly, like there’s something else she wants to say but won’t.” Um… WHAT does she want to say? For a moment, I thought she might be a character from a previous or future book, but nope—just random, unresolved characters.

I could keep going, but I don’t want to completely trash someone else’s work. That said, if you’re looking for a palate cleanser between emotionally heavy books (like I was), this could be a solid pick. It’s quick, sweet, and low-investment. If you can overlook the plot holes, it’s actually pretty well-written and charming.

Not worth your time

DNF at 74%

The book is so slow to get started, with a confusing open set of chapters introducing the MMCs and FMC. This is literally close to the first quarter or third of the book, just isolated individual character introduction and no plot.

(Potential spoilers below) The whole pack structure and the concept of heats in this OV is entirely different from any OV I’ve read before, where the FMC goes through a series of one-on-one encounters with each MMC as she has short heats that last anywhere from a few hours to overnight. The pack is formed by convenience, the alphas who just happen to be the ones to have come across her while in heat up and decide to be a pack. In this section, maybe a third of the book, the story is often confusing because the OV world-building has not fully been laid out, and trying to do it as the plot unfolds just doesn’t really work in this case. The writing is awkward and stilted. The spicy scenes are boring and not well-written. They feel quite amateurish.

When a new antagonist is suddenly introduced at the 74% mark, I noped out of the book. Prior to this, the main plot of the story revolved around two primary things: with the FMC’s heats and medications for it, and with pack formation and dynamics. That’s plenty for a relatively short book like this to deal with, especially when it’s already struggling with introducing its OV world-building (not enough and not well), and over-introducing the characters and not connecting them to each other well enough.

I rarely leave 1-star for books, and even more rarely DMF, but I just had no motivation to finish the book. I didn’t care about the characters or the plot. If this is on your TBR, I highly recommend that you skip it.

The tags said dark. The cover did not….
So I thought maybe slightly grey (I’ve been burned too many times thinking I was about to get high-angst…), and settled in for a lightly spiced A/O novel that would have a little darkness interspersed here and there.
So, here I go… blissfully strolling in expecting to read a novel with *some angst, and I was spot on!!!!

However… this was so emotional, particularly in the beginning!
I felt for Grace. After reading the character intro’s, I felt that she was going to feel like the second choice, an afterthought, and my heart broke knowing what was coming.
Then… Jake’s intro devastated me - I would have been happy in that exact moment to have this as an MF novel and Grace and Jake get their own little HEA!

Moving along though, the story starts to become sweet, and I fell a little in love with the characters. How they start to care for her, and build their pack. Even how well they incorporate someone new in.

I did enjoy the fact that about 80% of the story was building their relationship. There was a large issue late in the book, but it was resolved fairly quickly. I was super happy that it didn't overtake the relationship aspect, and in fact played a role in strengthening their ties. Well done author!

This was literally a found family novel hidden as an Omegaverse novel, and I absolutely loved it. Looking forward to reading the next one.

Taken by the Pack is book 2 of the North Coast Omegaverse. I would LOVE to see the next story for this, following this pack specifically. Rowan was my favorite, the broody, grumpy but secretly so sweet Alpha. Jake and Ash were tied for second faves, Jake was the pining Alpha, getting the girl of his LITERAL dreams, and Ash was the hot, nerdy outsider, finally finding a place he belonged. Grace was the best Omega to tie them together. I definitely would have loved to see even the men love each other and were with each other BUT I can tell they love Grace and support each other in their own way which was amazing. Grace runs her little flower shop, Rowan is the fisherman, Jake is a fish seller and Ash is a marine biologist. I love that they each had their own strengths to add to their relationship. I do feel like the ending was rushed, and there is a cliff hanger, which is what makes me hope there is more for their story, if only to tie up some loose ends, like Ash's family and I would like to see how the pack functions as a family with little ones running around.

Super spicy parts, for sure, in all the good ways. Made me wish A/B/O dynamics were real for sure! All in all, great book, super fun, very emotional, just wish it had wrapped up a bit better, if it doesn't have a follow up.

I give this book a 4 star rating because it was a cute and sweet Rom-Com that took place in a little Pacific North West coastal town named Driftwood Cove. As far as spice, it had some spicy scenes but in over-all I would give the spice level a 3 chili pepper rating.

This is a small town romance that is a standalone in part of the North Coast Omegaverse inlcuding a FMC (Grace) an Omega local Flower shop owner and 3 MMC (Jake, Rowan and Ash) Alphas.

The storyline is a little scattered and the plot seems a little rushed and unfinished and all over the place. It ends with, in my opinion, some cliffhangers. I want a pup from the relationship, to know more about Ash's family plans and also more MMC "Connections" to amp up the spice level.

Grace goes to the old lighthouse after running out of gas during a storm and meets Rowan and they have a "heated" moment after she needs help when her suppressants for heat fail to work. Her suppressants fail her several times.

Jake, Rowan and Ash look out for her and agree to start a fake pack only to become a real pack and fall in love. They're "knot" your typical romantic couple, they end up a real pack...all 4 of them.

* Fun fast read
*HEA (happily ever after)
*Reverse Harem
*story on love and loss

3.5 - 4

I have to admit, this kind of story is not my usual read. I am wholly ignorant of the Omegaverse genre, but as this book was strongly recommended to me to read, I did.

I appreciated the way the author based these characters in a small, coastal town, as it is easily relatable for me. I was able to connect with each of the Alphas (Rowan, Jake, and Ash), and understand their motives and desires. Grace was also easy to love, as she is a nice woman, running a florist shop. Their chemistry was really engaging, and I was easily swept into their longing for a place to belong, and this community already supports Alphas and their Omegas.

What was a bit much for me personally was the whole "claiming", "knotting" and the "scent marking". I get that this is part of the PNR thing, but since I don't usually read that genre, it wasn't something I particularly wanted in my read... Cause it's mentioned a lot.

I know, then why read it - you ask?! Because the author did a great job of keeping me engaged in the storyline - needing to know what was coming next! Honestly, I couldn't find a spot to stop. :)

I am happy to have read this book, and I do recommend it for anyone who enjoys this genre. While it does leave with a happy ever after for this foursome, it left me feeling like there is much more excitement to come for this town.

Is it an Omegaverse really? Sure there is a heat and the designations but it feels a little just polyamory and less true OV. It felt like the author maybe hasn't really spent a lot of time reading OV books. The heat spikes that come and go with the wind, the explanation about suppressants that didn't work, not really much about a nest or comforting the Omega all make it hard to really feel like a true OV.

Unfortunately for me the story didn't feel cohesive with very little character development. It seemed like there were just situations that the author wanted to include and just through them in there without really being a part of the timeline. Each conflict seemed like its own independent story instead of being intermingled and building from one to the next.

I absolutely hate leaving any negative reviews but I just wasn't a fan. The positives are that it is cute and it is spicy and a quick read at 268 pages or what kindle suggests is 5 hours and it is available on KU at the time of this review.

Spicy Peppers - 3.5 The spicy stuff is there on page and there are many scenes throughout the story. Some are closed door or fade to black but most is on page.

Stars - 2.5 It wasn't a true Omegaverse to me and missing some key points that as a reader I look for when stepping into an OV read. While parts of the story of cute and I liked it didn't really feel like a smooth flow from beginning to end.

A Promising Premise that Falls A Part

This book had the potential to be a great story, but the execution felt rushed and disjointed. The plot is virtually nonexistent—there’s a beginning and an end, but not much in between that connects them in a meaningful way. Events unfold randomly, and the timeline is confusing. While everything supposedly happens over the course of a few weeks, it reads like months have passed, creating a jarring disconnect.

Even considering it’s an insta-love story, the level of familiarity between the characters is laughably unrealistic. The central conflict appears out of nowhere and feels wildly over-the-top, like a plot twist dropped in just for shock value. And the resolution? We’re told it happens, but we’re never shown how. There’s no buildup, no process—just a vague “we got through it” moment.

It honestly feels like a first draft from a new writer testing out ideas. With more structure—perhaps a class or some study on the three-act format—this could’ve been much stronger. There’s a spark of something here, but the storytelling just doesn’t support it. At times, I even wondered if this had been written by AI.

I finished it mostly out of curiosity, just to see how wild it would get. Unfortunately, it never quite landed.

Taken by the Pack hits all the marks for a cozy-meets-spicy small-town omegaverse. I really enjoyed the blend of personal ambition and pack dynamics—the heroine’s determination to build her flower shop gave her story a strong foundation, while the romance added both heat and heart.

The alphas each brought something distinct:

Jake felt like the classic protector, steady and reliable.

Ash carried the weight of his brooding heir backstory, adding depth and vulnerability.

Rowan was the unpredictable one, balancing out the others with charm and wild energy.

Together, they created a pack dynamic that felt supportive and magnetic without being overwhelming. The “off-limits” angle gave the romance a delicious tension, and when her heat hit, the payoff was steamy and satisfying.

The suspense subplot (with someone actively trying to drive her out of town) added just enough drama to raise the stakes, keeping the story from being purely about romance while still centering the relationships.

Overall: Taken by the Pack is a steamy, heartfelt omegaverse with all the cozy small-town feels, fated mate intensity, and pack heat I love in this genre. A satisfying standalone that leaves me curious to see what Nora Quinn brings next in the North Coast Omegaverse.

“Taken by the Pack” by Nora Quinn
Series: North Coast Omegaverse

Genre: Omegaverse Reverse Harem Romance
Rating: 4⭐️
Spice: 5🌶️
Darkness: 1🩶
POV: Multiple

Highlights:
💙Why Choose
💙Non Shifter Omegaverse
💙Virgin Omega
💙Found Family
💙Scenting, Knotting, Heats
💙Small Town
💙Fake to Real Relationships

Thoughts:
All three Alphas were dealing with the loss of a loved one and over time, they find solace in their connection with Grace. Grace is a sweet virgin Omega who owns a flower shop and is just trying to survive when her suppressants fail and she goes into heat. It was great how the relationship with Jake and Rowan grew slowly when they started with a fake bond scheme to keep her safe during her heat. I loved how this story was so high spice while still being a cozy small town romance. Like most Omegaverse, there’s lots of steamy scenes, but these Alphas all concentrate on their Omega. On the whole I found the story quite romantic.

🛑Please read all the author warnings as some themes and events in this book could be triggering. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Such a cute omegaverse read! Honestly it’s one of my favorites sub genres, there’s something about it that just feeds my soul 😂

It’s a quick read, plot is fast paced and it’s a fast burn with lots of spice! Grace isn’t looking for a man (or a pack) but when her medication is failing nature takes it into her own hands. Grace finds herself in more than a few awkward situations but also is totally ok with that because it’s brought these wonderful men into her life❤️
There’s defs healing in this one, all of them have experienced some loss of a loved one and they support and love each other through their grief.

It’s pretty unique in that most omegaverse reads have a group of friends either in an established pack or are already close, but these guys are mostly loners 😂 it’s fun to see them interact with each other aside from with Grace! It’s a pretty wholesome read (aside from all the spice 😂) it’s small town, found family, and pretty cozy vibes.

The spice! Like I said, there’s a lot of it! It does vary, 1:1 scenes along with group scenes. No MM within the harem, they’re all about her!

❤️❤️❤️❤️

That's it... That's how it ends

Its a strange little story and some parts are inferred but some are not plausible, even in fiction. Like them swimming in the ocean but grace picks up a shell from the ocean floor.
If she was going to the doctor to get off birth control, why Sid she get a prescription for more birth control.
Ashs family made no sense, it was obvious that Liam was jealous of ash with his alpha wishes but beta dreams. Ash obvious does not take from his family so telling him he'd be cut off at dinner is ridiculous.
There is a reason Fiona and her alphas showed up but what... There appearance seemed random at best.
Then Jake runs for mayor but the father tells ash its not over. Of the owned of the building wanted to sell, he still could a change in mayor doesn't change that! Why would you serve your tenants eviction notices if you haven't signed a contract?
I was just as confused bad the fictional Dr with graces heat.
Overall, I liked the story even with the issues I had with the book.

I got this book as an ARC and I hate to say it but it was not very good. I love a good omega verse and this was just not it. This write was choppy and the characters did not feel consistent their personalities felt like they changed throughout the book. It felt like I was missing part of the story like it started in the middle of a different book. The summary of the book is also very misleading. There is no in Twilight Harbor that is after the FMC other then her having her heats being out of control, which is never explained as to why that is, she is fine. Also the descriptions of 2 of the MMC is not correct. Jake is not the mayor of the town until the very end of the book and Ash is not a calculating, powerful Alpha, he is a scientist who comes to town to study the tide pools. This book also says that it is a standalone but there is no resolution to Ash's family trying to take over the town. Overall the book felt unfinished and lacking any real plot.

Taken by My Pack is a why choose reverse harem romance set in a fictional small town in PNW. The FMC Grace is an omega, a female guided by her instincts. One day she gets the heat, which is like being really hot and h0rny, and a stranger Rowan helps her by getting her off. He becomes one of her fake boyfriends, though it’s soon very clear that there’s off the walls chemistry between Grace and Rowan - and Jake and Ash.
There’s tons of spice in this book, but also deeper topics like family dynamics and loss of a loved one, both of which could have been explored more in depth. And like in all swoon worthy novels, there’s a HEA. Read this book if you’re into:
📖 cozy small town romance
📖 reverse harem why choose
📖 Found family
📖 HEA
📖 a world where people are divided into alphas, omegas and betas
📖 loads of spice

Sweet, Good Foundation

The overall story is sweet, with a good amount of angst mixed in. I like the main characters. The pacing of the story is a little off; things move quickly in a way that doesn’t make sense. There are some continuity issues and some “twists” that come up in a confusing way without any real explanation. For example, a past love interest shows up towards the very end and interacts very awkwardly with the MMC in a way that feels as though we should have heard about this ex who broke his heart before but absolutely nothing was mentioned, or if it was it wasn’t made clear that they were the same person. Either way, it was confusing and pulled me from the story. I love the idea of this book and it has a good foundation for an excellent cozy OV, it just needs some polishing.

This is the first book I read by this author and I loved it.

Grace is an omega who owns the flower shop in a little seaside town. She has no family after her parents died when she was young and was subjected to the system. She has never went into heat and has always taken suppressants to manage her Omega instincts. During a nasty storm her medications fail and her car breaks down so she goes to the closest place that just so happens to be the lighthouse.

Rowan is an alpha and he believes his family has a curse being that the sea claims a soul every generation. It just so happens that he loses his bonded mate to the fate of the sea.

Jake is an alpha who is no stranger to loss. His sister went over the cliffs and is also claimed to the sea. Jake has loved Grace from afar. (He is my absolute favorite)

Ash is also an alpha who loves to study the sea. He too has lost his bonded mate but instead of the sea claiming her she passes of cancer. Ash’s family are the epitome of the rich, nasty and entitled trolls they are. Truly disgraceful.

I loved how every member of this pack is no stranger to loss and how they are a built pack instead of an already formed one. Rowan has grown so much in this story from being the town grump to a loving and devoted Alpha.

cute but needs an editor

This story is a quick one. It was sweet and there was a lot of decent spice. The heat wasn’t traditional and I’m surprised that there was no real resolution as to why her heat was so erratic. Also throwing an ex we’ve never heard of at the very end of the book was kind of strange and personally, I don’t think added anything to the story. Hence, an editor needed. Definitely worth a read if you want something a little silly.

*Spoiler Alert/Trigger Warning*

I will look again but I’m 99% positive there isn’t a trigger warning in the book. A lot of the main characters are dealing with some type of grief or loss and I don’t remember seeing a heads up in the beginning of the book. People coming to this book looking for a type of escape from their grief, might get a whiplash from this, so just a suggestion.
