She was hired as a pawn. He didn't expect to want her. Dawn Carter wasn't looking for anything extraordinary, just a fresh start and a stable paycheck. But when Nikolai Blackthorn, billionaire heir to a surveillance and tech empire, calls her personally with a job offer she didn't apply for, everything changes. He's cold, brilliant, and dangerously in control. And now, she works for him. What begins as a high-paying position quickly spirals into something far more complex. Dawn is pulled into a world of secrets, power plays, and desire that's anything but professional. Restricted Security is a dark, high-heat billionaire romance filled with explicit open-door scenes, psychological tension, and sharp-edged seduction. Book one of a twist-laced trilogy where power is everything, and trust is the most dangerous risk of all.

Book Review: Restricted Security Author: Violet Sage
Restricted Security follows the story of Dawn as she moves to a new place in Saint Monica, where she lands a job as a personal assistant to the hottest bachelor, Nikolai. This dark romance is filled with steamy moments and mystery, making it a compelling read—I could not put it down. The author paints vivid pictures through her writing, allowing readers to fully immerse themselves in the story. The chemistry between Dawn and Nikolai is undeniable, and the intimate scenes are well-written, adding to the intensity of their relationship. While the book focuses heavily on passion, I would love to see even more emotional depth as their relationship develops throughout the series.
However, while the book provides thorough explanations, some sections felt unnecessarily detailed, slowing down the pacing. From the start, I found myself wanting more depth in character development, particularly in the emerging romance between the two main characters. This made it difficult to fully connect with them at first, but as the story progresses, their development improves, making the book more engaging and relatable.
One of the highlights of the novel is the unforgettable friendship between the two best friends. Their bond is so deep and genuine that I couldn’t help but wish for a friendship like theirs.
Overall, Restricted Security is highly recommended for anyone who enjoys dark romance with a touch of mystery and well-written steamy moments.
Note for author: One example of over-explanation is the frequent focus on Dawn’s clothing choices. While fashion can be a great tool for character expression, the repeated statements about what she wanted to convey with her outfits felt excessive at times. This level of detail, while insightful, became repetitive and slightly slowed the pacing of the story
I would have loved to see more buildup in the romance before Dawn and Nikolai officially got together. The tension and chemistry were there, but a deeper exploration of their growing connection—through more moments of emotional intimacy or slow-burn interactions—would have made their relationship feel even more satisfying and believable
I had a wonderful time reading the first book in this series, and I fell in love with the two main characters Dawn and Nikolai. I enjoyed seeing the progress of their relationship and romance throughout the entire story despite how their different worlds try to tear them apart from one another. Violet's writing style makes you feel like you are part of the characters' world, and her details are breathtaking especially when it comes down to the topics of politics, security, and public relations/journalism. I believe that everyone who loves twists, soft but hot romance, and great and strong driven characters should definity give this book a read! I can't wait to read the rest of this trilogy and other books by this author in the future.
Firstly, this was a good read; it definitely had a few good thrills and twists. Only thing, I have to complain about is the pacing. It seemed a bit rushed in a few chapters along with the time jumps between chapters that you had to pay attention to. The ending definitely had a big build up to an “unexpected” event for book two, but it also was just reconfirming that we know the company and his father are behind this. Again, I still think it was good just hope book two doesn’t seem as rushed in some areas as this one.

I honestly devoured this book in two days! And while running around with a toddler all day long it's not easy to sit down a read. I did not want to put it down from the very beginning. Great romantic suspense and I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. Violet has a way of drawing you in to captivate your attention and then she keeps it the entire time. I am on the edge of my seat waiting for book two!
Read this if you want a fast paced, romantic, and suspenseful book to keep you wondering what is going to happen! I finished this book in one sitting because I could not put it down! I had to know what was going to happen! I never saw the ending coming.
Not just a hot and steamy romance novel. There's a great story line with several twists as well. Plenty of character development and highly descriptive writing, you feel part of the story. The only downside . . . It's a trilogy. Which means we have to wait. In the words of Inigo Montoya, "I hate wait."
I was lucky enough to proofread this incredible debut novel. Not only did I read this, I CONSUMED it. This is everything and more you could wish for in a romance book and I cannot wait to read the next in the series!
This book was a ride! Love the FMC and MMC! The spice is perfect, chef’s kiss. And the plot draws you in from the start! There is suspense, intrigue and all the best stuff. Can not wait for the next one!!!
