I gasped my boyfriend's name into the darkness, and the man inside me froze. Then he asked who I was.
Ice water flooded my veins.
What?
The plan was to surprise my boyfriend in his bed tonight, not end up beneath someone with the same eyes and a very large...hockey stick.
Sanderson is my boyfriend's older brother. College hockey star with a puck boy reputation.
And I just crossed into forbidden territory…
By accident.
After that night, I broke up with his brother and swore to never face either of them again.
But Sanderson was dead set on making me his.
When he started showing up at my dorm unannounced, his persistence wore down my defenses. The way he looked at me made me forget why this was such a bad idea.
However my ex-boyfriend was livid about this entire mess.
Understandably.
The hard truth I can't avoid is that I pucked the wrong brother.
And my heart might end up as shattered as the family I've torn apart.
Don’t Puck the Wrong Brother is a boyfriend-turned-ex-boyfriend’s brother hockey romance novel in the Don’t Puck Around Series. The book can be read as a standalone. It ends with a happy ever after.
Time of death 68%, page 235. First— This book had the characters going through a whole lot of motions without anything really happening. 🤷♀️ It went in circles with the FMC pushing the MMC away and then wanting to see him or constantly thinking about him. On top of that, her personality wasn’t consistent and sometimes she seemed like a completely different character. Secondly— there were a lot of missing words, repeated phrases too closely together, and the lack of consistency within the story was atrocious, so the editing was strongly lacking. Or just nonexistent altogether. Third— I don’t want to be mean, but this was some of the WORST “spice” I’ve ever had the misfortune of reading. 😬 Seriously, when they start to get intimate for the first time on purpose (which is like page 230 😏) all of a sudden the MMC says he wants her to call him by his “real” name. Mind you, not ONCE has it been alluded to him having any other name and all of a sudden he wants her to call him by his real name because only his mother calls him that— so he wants her to call him what his mother does during sexy time??? 🥴 Odd choice. But our FMC obliges by recounting that she calls out his name— his real name— several times during the encounter (and yes, unfortunately she emphasizes that it’s his “real name” every time.) Then he goes down on her (or as the author says, ‘he licks me so good that I fall back on my pillows…’ 😵💫) and afterwards says that he wants to kiss her, but doesn’t want to “gross her out” so she gives him her mouthwash and they both use it then spit it into an old Chick-fil-A cup… talk about killing the frickin’ mood! All of it was just so bad. 😞 Oh and the author’s choice of saying, “He kisses me with tongue.”… my heart just swooned. 🤗 — The last thing I will harp on is the fact that the author chose to do the next book in the series on the other brother from this one. The same brother that cheated on the FMC. The same brother that was in her face screaming that she was a whore and the girl he cheated on her with was hotter than her in every way. The same brother who was pissed off at the MMC for even telling the FMC that he had cheated on her in the first place and then whined so much because he supposedly wanted the FMC back so badly. The same brother that was all outraged that the MMC was interested in the FMC too and decides to publicly humiliate her when she doesn’t want to give him another chance… all of this tells me that this author doesn’t understand the dynamics of romance. You know why? Cuz f**k that other brother! I don’t give a rat’s ass about him or his HEA. The fact that the author would think that any reader would give a shit makes me further doubt their capabilities as a romance writer. 😑 So, yeah, that about sums up my feelings on this one. 🫡
Number 1. The cover model is the best thing about this book.
Number 2. The incessant repetition of events through monologue and dialogue and crazy amounts of inner monologue drove me crazy. I scrolled past 50% of it rolling my eyes. I don’t know why I read this book through to 68%
Number 3. When the 2 characters are having a steamy session they both agree that he should use mouthwash before he kisses her and they continue on to sex. IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SESSION HE STOPS TO USE MOUTHWASH. This was so bizarre and off-putting to me that I couldn’t read any further. If you or your partner aren’t hygienic enough to enjoy a kiss after oral there’s a bigger problem than your mouthwash time-outs.
I can't even be mad at the cheating part because i wanted to see how you "accidentally" screw someone else purely for my curious sake 😬
H is crashing at his brother's place after ending things with his fuck buddy and h goes to her bf's place to fuck him because even though they've been dating for 2 months, they never had sex. She goes into the bedroom, starts screwing the man on the bed. H thinks he's dreaming but ofc he's still able to put on a condom that she hands him, kiss her and ask if she's okay and then fuck her, all in his sleep 😒 (I mean HOW?) and at the end of the finish line they find out that she infact screwed the wrong brother 😑
Cue the highschool drama. She starts crying and suddenly out of nowhere this extreme manwhore ish hero is not guilty but wants her because she's diff from all the ow he slept with. She ends it with OM who causes problems, even though he was fucking a different girl the same night🤷♀️ More drama from H's high school ex 🤷♀️ more drama from his recent ex fuck buddy and even more drama from the brother 🤷♀️
I don't think H was SA-ed because despite the writer claiming he was asleep, he was able to talk to her, kiss her and was coherent enough to put on a condom. I think it was just poor execution because they wanted to make it seem like they didn't knowingly cheat but i was icked out all the same just as i would be if the roles were reversed 🥴

Hannah tries to surprise her boyfriend in bed but has no idea the man in her boyfriend’s bed is actually his brother Sanderson. Sanderson thinks he’s having one hell of a spicy dream until the girl he’s dreaming of moans his brother’s name. They turn a light on and realize what they’ve done. Sanderson didn’t even know his brother had a girlfriend and Hannah had never met her boyfriend’s brother so they’re both shocked to say the least. Hannah immediately wants to keep her distance from both men, she’s mortified, unfortunately for her Sanderson just can’t stop thinking about her and their chemistry is hard to miss.
I really enjoyed the plot of this book. I’ve read a lot of romance books (been reading them since I was in middle school and I’m 30 now) so it’s really nice when I stumble upon a new plot I haven’t read a million times. After I read the blurb I wondered how the author was going to convince me this could actually happen and honestly I was convinced after reading 😂 I felt so bad for Hannah and her best friend Lennox’s jokes about the situation absolutely killed me.
Sanderson was like, “did we fuck up? Yeah. But screw it I want you anyway.” lol nothing was stopping him from getting with Hannah after that first encounter. Man was HOOKED. She really made him work for it too 😂 had him pulling out of the stops and practically begging her to go on a date with him.
Unfortunately there were a lot of grammatical errors. This book really needs an editor bad. BUT I still enjoyed the story which is saying a lot because I’m usually not one that can ignore constant grammatical errors lol I also didn’t like the MMC’s name. Sanderson is terrible, it sounds like a last name and then he had 100 nicknames plus his first name which is James. Please pick a name and stick with it.
I will definitely be reading more books by this author and recommend if you’re looking for something a little different.
& I'm not usually the one for sports romances, let alone the Hockey reads. Will be reading the next one because I have to find out what happens to his brother. lol
I enjoyed this and I would’ve given it a higher rating had I physically read it. I listened to the audiobook and it was AWFUL. I doubt the author will ever read this review but if she does, bestie PLEASE get a narrator. It’s such a good book!
I was wondering how the concept of this book could possibly be okay, like how to you cheat with your boyfriends brother and make it a romantic story. Let’s just say I was pleasantly surprised. I actually didn’t feel like what happened was cheating. Sure it sucked and they never would have been able to stay together after that but 7 weeks of dating and zero sex isn’t really that big of a deal in my opinion. I feel like the sibling rivalry was really the issue all along. Cade was toxic. I did not like how the author glossed over his abusive qualities. I saw no redeeming qualities in him. Punching walls near someone head means you wanted to punch that person in the face but changed your mind last second. It’s not passion or something you can explain away. It’s the step before physically abusing someone. Any way…Hannah was a little too stuck up for me at first and I wish we had more insight into her past. Like why does she flinch? Other than that it was an okay read. I doubt I’ll read Cades story. He is a bit much for me.
I loved the idea of this, it was quite unique and the brotherly rivalry was delicious. The writing was good, albeit with quite a few spelling and grammar errors, and the characters were likeable. I didn’t love the third act conflict though, I thought that wasn’t executed fantastically. It kind of took a sledgehammer to the character development. But it was a cute story and I enjoyed how technical the hockey was
This is very meh. If Cade hadn’t been cheating on Hannah, then I can see why he would be as angry as he was. But he knowingly slept with someone else. I mean it was a 2 month college relationship and there hadn’t been sex. He was way overreacting. And that went on the whole book.
And then Hannah apologizes to him? And wants his approval for her and Sanderson? Girl, no.
3.5 these two MCs got into a hot mess. (Spoilers ahead) There is cheating in this book H is a playboy who has smex with every girl on campus h has been dating H’s brother (OM) for 2 months. She has never met H. OM and h have never had smex
One night h decides to surprise OM and sneak into his room to have smex. OM texts her earlier and tells her he’s at home (he’s not. He’s having smex with another girl) H is sleeping in OMs room. They are brothers Well, h and H have smex. They can’t see each other. She thinks it’s OM, H thinks he’s dreaming. 🤪 h yells out OMs name and H is like wtf? He turns on the lights. Oooooops h is absolutely heartbroken over what she did. H finds himself interested in h.
h breaks up with OM the next day. H starts trying to talk with her. Eventually OM finds out about H and h and loses his mind (even though he was sleeping with another woman that night) he calls her all sorts of names. BUT he also wants her. 🤷♀️ H isn’t having it because he wants her to. The brothers have some serious issues with each other.
Most of the book is h trying to deny her feelings for H. It got repetitive. His playboy past is a huge part of the problem.
The OM does some crappy things trying to end their relationship. There’s a small 3rd act breakup but it doesn’t last long.
The brothers do kind of repair their relationship in the end. The spice is very mild in this book. I’d say maybe a 2 out of 5.
Well, this one was a roller coaster. To mistake your boyfriend and his brother is a lot. But to then realize he's the better man is wow.
I totally get it. Hannah's struggle with the error. I understand her desire to break up with Care over her error. I understand her need to lick her wounds. However, what was totally screwed up was that the mistake probably wouldn't have happened if he'd been home and not out cheating on her.
Sanderson wanting to pursue her despite the awkwardness understandable. How he got to know her, listened, invested time, and remained a gentleman is admirable.
Care was a total joke. He showed his true colors time and time again. Classic narc behavior. Blame shift, pushed own narrative, and name calling. SMH
Sanderson and Hannah both showed they saw deeper into each other. They learned each other. They took it slow. It developed over time and became more in their short time than she'd had with Cade.
Sadly, Cade was a typical narc and went about trying to sabotage them.
It's a sweetly developed story between Sanderson and Hannah.
Ngl the first half got me eagerly wanting to finish the book, but half way through, the cracks starts to show and it went downhill for me.
Some phrases were overplayed and over intensified, like their kisses being gentle/a promise instead of demanding (cringe), how Sandy is more than just a puck boy (?), like few too many instance of them being more than what they portrayed themselves as.
There is a sense of disconnect, how at first Hannah had trust issue because of her mother ‘s behaviour, but before that lore was dropped their bond was otherwise fine and then the phone call when she talks about maybe having a new boyfriend, at the end where she said to Cade about her not telling him about what had happened with her father, so basically it was all over the place.
And I don’t know, the writing feel amateurish at times and the misunderstanding arc was unnecessary. And the sex scene, three times in a row, the first two was okay, skip through the last one because what do you mean you’re doing the deed when the guy was near slashed on the face, eye swollen and was taking his pain meds, but hey let’s have some sexy times.

The tension in this book was real people! I had to put it down twice to get my heart under control while reading. The premise for this book was really unique to me and I was hooked right away. A little too much vacillating do I like him do I not? But still did not detract from the story line. Sanderson is the epitome of a puck boy, or at least we are led to believe and Hannah the control freak whose world is strictly organized by color and size. Nothing left to chance. Throw in Hannah wanting to finally sleep with her boyfriend of almost 2 months and we have an explosion of a cocktail! All in all, a pretty good book, stëam level was pretty low, nothing graphic on page, mostly imagination based. A little too much uncertainty but other than that? A truly unique concept and a very good read.
so there's a lot of talking and not so much actual action. it's boring and repetitive. also I can't get over the fact that the fmc's boyfriend cheated on her with a girl named Anna when FMCs name is Hannah.
just some random thoughts. - this might be addressed later on in the series but in the beginning the MMC is sleeping in his brother's bed and he says that heard his brother (C) come into the bedroom call his name and then leave so he assumed later on that he was sleeping on the couch but then a few chapters later C says that he didn't come home and that he went to a party and stayed at Anna's place because she put out basically (and convo implies she also looks somewhat like hannah.) so did C come back to the apartment or not and then leave again?

The story starts great but then gets very repetitive with too much time spent on FMC trying so hard to deny how she feels.
This book could have been about 100 pages shorter or spent more time developing the back stories to really show why get characters were acting the way they were. I feel like the back stories that were given were not fully thought through and lacked consistency.
Cade the brother/ ex-boyfriend did some unforgivable/ unredeemable things even for someone who is understandably hurt and upset if you ask me.
All in all, it was okay read, but I found myself skimming through the end of the book to finish it.
I read this in one day!!!! It was so good. Hannah and Sanderson's story had me hooked! It was a mistake that she slept with Cade's brother Sanderson but honestly I am glad it happened. Cade is a complete a-hole. It baffles me how Care acted but he and Hannah had only been dating a few months and he couldn't have been that invested. I think it had more to do with that he always want to have one over his brother and not that he had real feelings for her. Sanderson definitely fell first and fast. The next book is Cade's story and I am going to have to pray about it before I can bring myself to read it. Lol
The spice. The angst. The emotions. Pain, dreamy euphoria. I cried, sighed and nearly died. James and Hannah are the perfect blend of bad beginnings, stubbornness and imperfect love. Additionally the hockey description was excellent for someone that knows nearly nothing about the game, I could visualize it easily. The previous books I read were confusing and skip worthy. This will be top shelf that I go back to in my mind over and over. A simple idea made complex but not too complex. An enjoyable read.
Cute & quick read! This was a cute romance! Hannah try’s to be vulnerable and opened up with her boyfriend only to have a romantic night with her boyfriend‘s brother. Sanders is the typical Playboy who softens for Hannah. Dealing with the complications of Hannah being his brother‘s ex-girlfriend they navigate that dynamic along with the feelings that they have for each other. This book has a tasteful amount of romance and spice personally, I like a little bit more, but it was an easy and fun read.
I enjoyed this book. The story kept me interested until the very end. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I was left with so many questions at the end. I don't know if there will be another book after this one, but at the very least, it should have had an epilogue to tie things up and answer some of the questions about Sanderson and Hannah.
Okay so I don't know how I feel about her essentially SA-ing him? Even if it was her boyfriend and not the brother. He was asleep... But anywaaaays. It was VERY fast pace. The brother just went along with it and was like "oh well, you slept with me so now you gotta stay with me." Why am I cursed to be drawn to redflags? Olivia definitely knows how to create redflag characters and make you love them so much... ugh. Kate Olivia... keeping it up!
I'm not usually a fan of love triangles but this was pretty good.
There were two things that I found weird though. At one point Hannah said James, and he has the thought that those that two syllables sounded different coming from her lips. In what world is James two syllables???
Also, at one point he goes down on her and says he wants to kiss her after but doesn't want to gross her out - so they both rinse their mouths with mouthwash? WTF!?!?! I've NEVER heard of such a thing. SMH

I actually ended up liking this book. I expected it to be more telenovela and it was way better. I liked the characters. I listened to the audiobook, which is claimed to be virtual voice. If the virtual voice wasn’t advertised, I would have never known. It was done really well and in duet form. Audiobook quality is 5 stars.
honestly the synopsis pulled me in, hook line and sinker 😍 such a unique hockey romance and I was so here for it. Loved the character and relationship development. James/Sanderson and Hannah were such a couple that clicked and meshed so well. Loved every minute!
2,5 stars. The start of this book had me almost throwing this book to the side. The male character had some character development but the female character stayed behind with her on/off mode.
When this book was recommended to me the title wasn't really appealing, however, this was by far the awfully tacky and uncomfortable book I thought it would be. It was such a sweet romance and the whole wrong brother thing wasn't actually that big of a deal.

I enjoyed this read. I can't stand Cades little winey self. He needs to grow the hell up. If his character is next in the series, it's a hard puckin pass for me. 🤷🏾♀️
Soooo it was a good book for the most part I love the strong lead of the MFC his brother was a narcissist and asking for his blessing pissed me off when he cheated on her
