Brynneka Barber has one thing on her mind and that is enjoying her vacation. It's three days into the New Year and she is at a tropical location with her two best friends, Raven and Amira. She has a job that she has fought hard for being one of the few Black female architects in the United States. She is proud of her accomplishments and where her life is right now. So much so that her friends want to use this vacation to celebrate her upcoming promotion at work. When Brynne reminds them that it hasn't been made official yet, they both want to celebrate anyways because they know the job is all hers. While her and her friends are enjoying their pool, a helicopter lands next door. And out comes four handsome men who seem to be looking for some fun and relaxation while on vacation. Thats where she meets Colin. They don't commit to anything but enjoying their immediate attraction to each other. They leave the small stuff behind and just enjoy the time they do have. Not even giving each other full names.
Colin knows that Brynne is the woman he has been waiting his whole life for and when they get back to the States - he will find her. And make her his. And find her he does. When Brynne returns to the real world and work, it is to find out that her tropical fling has just stolen the promotion promised to her. And she must now work with him as her boss. Completely blindsided by the revelation that her Colin is now her boss, she must navigate the dynamics of the anger she feels towards him, coupled with the thought that she is still deeply attracted to him, and craves him.
What ensues is a hilarious and beautiful twist of fate that gives you all the feels. I loved Colin, I hated Colin, I was so happy for Brynne, I was heartbroken for her. My emotions ran the gambit but most of all I enjoyed the laughter. The office snark was amazing and the attraction between Colin and Brynne was palpable. This was my first Evelyn Sola book, and I am absolutely in love. Can't wait to continue a journey with this author.

I am convinced that Evelyn can’t write a bad book!

On a sun-drenched island, architects Brynne and Colin meet by chance and fall into a passionate romance, making promises for the future. But fate has other plans. Back home, Brynne is blindsided when the promotion she worked for is given to Colin, turning their connection into resentment and rivalry. As office tensions rise and old feelings linger, they must decide if love is strong enough to overcome betrayal and the twists of fate that tore them apart.

I feel so lucky to have been chosen to read this book early as part of an ARC! From start to finish, this story completely captured my heart. It’s a truly fantastic romance — filled with laugh-out-loud moments and that signature blend of drama and family dynamics that only Evelyn can weave together so beautifully. Brynne and Colin are such incredible, well-developed characters, and following their journey felt so refreshing and real. I absolutely loved the way their relationship unfolded; every moment between them was so genuine and heartwarming.

Thank you so much to the author and the publisher for trusting me with this ARC — it was such a joy to read!

Excessive, constant, repetitive drama around every corner, with not just the main characters but half the cast, and right from the start. Not to mention the eye-rolling ridiculous plot. Don't waste your time.

We didn’t yell at Heath enough!! He was insufferable. Also the croc slander was random and annoying. Romance was cute though.

Game Change indeed! Evelyn Sola is amazing! This book exceeded all expectations. I was luckily selected to read this book as part of an ARC. This is an amazing romance, it’s very funny, absolutely spicy and as always has that perfect touch of drama and family issues that only Evelyn can write and make enjoyable. Brynne and Colin are such wonderful characters and their story is very refreshing and the way it’s told and develops is just so freaking great. Heath steals a show with his quirky and funny ways and I enjoyed him as one of the characters and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that we get more of him. I love how Evelyn stories connect and we get to revisit some characters that we met in Cherry’s Jubilee. This book is fantastic and I recommend everyone immediately get this book and read it.

I definitely need more Evelyn Sola books in my life!

Game Change is smartly written and entertaining. The characters are diverse, real, and easy to relate to. Colin and Brynne stole my heart from their very first interaction. Their connection was intense and unforgettable. I loved their banter and the will-they/won’t they moments. You can’t help but root for Colin and Brynne as they navigate their way to HEA.

Game Change is a very satisfying and delicious read that’s easily devourable in a single sitting. I loved the tension, chemistry, and workplace drama. And while this is my first book by this author, it most certainly won’t be my last.

*I was provided an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review *

Mrs. Sola did it again! This book was just what I needed to get me out of my reading slump. The story was full of love, and it was hilarious reading how the characters interacted with each other after Colin’s ‘master plan’ was exposed. I hope she continues this series—there’s a certain someone with an enemy at work whose daughter he can’t keep his eyes off, and I need to see how that plays out. Needless to say, Colin and Honeybee’s story is definitely going on my re-read list.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Another good one by Ms Sola. Loved the characters and their passion. This book is the closest she’s written to my favourite book of hers Downfall probably because of the office romance combined with the enemy to lovers trope. The difference is Colin and Brynne meet on vacation and it’s instant attraction and more only for fate to intervene and tear them apart.
As usual this book is full of various characters that you either love or hate or who make you laugh. Humour and passion are abundant and the book is thick and juicy!

I was lucky enough to get and advanced copy of the book and MAN AM I GLAD I RECEIVED ONE!
What an absolutely amazingly fun wonderful ride! Such a great story full of rich and engaging characters. The romance had me completely swept up, and I laughed, cursed, and cheered for these characters! I just couldn’t put it down! I started reading it in the afternoon and I read it almost 24 hours straight! This books gets 10 stars from me and I highly recommend it!

Evelyn Sola's "Game Change" is a captivating novel that weaves a complex tale of romance, ambition, and destiny. Set against the backdrop of a sun-soaked island, the story introduces us to Brynne and Colin, two talented architects whose paths cross unexpectedly. Their whirlwind romance is beautifully depicted, capturing the essence of passion and the allure of new beginnings.

The narrative takes an intriguing turn when Brynne discovers that Colin is unexpectedly intertwined in her professional life, leading to a promotion dispute. This revelation sets the stage for a compelling exploration of trust, betrayal, and the intricate dance of office politics. Sola masterfully portrays the emotional turmoil that ensues, making the reader empathize with both Brynne's sense of betrayal and Colin's predicament.

What truly stands out in "Game Change" is the depth of the characters. Brynne and Colin are crafted with such nuance that their struggles and triumphs feel incredibly real. Their undeniable chemistry, contrasted with growing animosity, creates a tension that keeps the reader engaged, eager to see if they can overcome the obstacles fate has thrown their way.

As a fan of Evelyn Sola, I particularly appreciated the connection between this novel and "Cherry's Jubilee." The link between a character in "Game Change" and the main character in "Cherry's Jubilee" adds an enriching layer to the reading experience, offering fans of Sola's work a delightful sense of continuity and shared universe.

In conclusion, "Game Change" is a thoroughly enjoyable read that will resonate with fans of romance and dramatic storytelling. Evelyn Sola's ability to intertwine personal and professional conflicts in a seamless narrative makes this book a must-read. I eagerly anticipate her next work, hoping for more intricate connections and heartfelt stories.

I loved everything about this book! It made me laugh out loud and it brought a tear to my eye. The characters were so well drawn that I felt I knew knew. It was such a good time read.

The story is about Colin and Brynne. They met while they’re both on an island on vacation. They immediately take to each other and start an affair. It was so deep between the two of them that even after they left the island they promise each other to be together.

Then fate steps in and they find out that they’re working for the same company. AND the job and promotion that Brynne thought was hers ends up being Colin’s. This leads to some of the funniest scenes in the book when Heath and Ernestine get involved. It’s also when Colin and Brynne break up.

They eventually come back together but there’s family drama on both sides. Brynne’s stepbrother is an issue and Colin’s uncle and brother are another.

Needless to say, Colin and Brynne get their HEA. The book is such a feel good book that I borrowed from Kindle Unlimited

the arguments were repetitive with milton and colin never truly acknowledging Brynne’s side and it annoyed me because the mc continued developing a relationship while having UNDERSTANDABLE underlying resentment . heath got on my last mf nerves, and the constant jokes about being black made me cringe. ik we had to establish that Brynne was black, but joking about blackness to nonblack people, ESPECIALLY white people, just makes me feel second hand cringe ? what i did enjoy though, is how easy it was to self insert yourself into the book. there was never a definitive skin tone, hair style, hair color, or even height. because of this, Brynne served as a y/n type of character which i found enjoyable .

Uncle Miltey threw a monkey wrench in their plans

Milton Kincaid had plans for Kincaid Architecture. He'd mentored Brynneka Barber for years. She was the most talented and brightest architect he knew. But when his nephew Colin agreed to come home and work for him. The position that was supposed to be Brynne's went to Colin. She felt used and betrayed by both Milton and Colin. Especially after she and Colin met, connected, and spent all of their time together on vacation. Now, Brynne had to reshuffle her plans for her future. But feelings for each other slowly melted that first stone wall she put up. Well, A snowstorm helped too.

I enjoyed reading this story about different family dynamics. Everybody had something to work out with their family. Especially Brynne, dealing with her selfish, entitled brother and his mother. My heart just broke when her mother's house burned. It was the only p!ace she had memories of good times with her family. But there was a difference now, she has Colin to support her. She didn't have to fight her battles alone anymore. With his support and her girlfriends, she has a new loving family. Let's not forget Colin's bro friends and extended family. Ernestine's daughter seems to be hitting it off with Colin's nephew, Heath. That situation was funny. I laughed throughout this story reading the antics of Heath and Ernestine. It seems that Brynne and Colin's relationship has a healing effect on all the families.

Brynneka “Brynne” Barber is enjoying a much-needed holiday vacation with her two BFFs before she has to return to the real world as an amazing architect. Her main goal is to enjoy some sun and fun. The last thing on her mind is Romance. However, a curveball named Colin enters the scene to change her mind.
Brynne and Colin, with their mutual friends, have a very eventful vacation. As the vacay ends, Brynne and Colin decide their vacay flings could be something more. Fast-forward, Brynne is back at work and is immediately greeted by Colin. Let’s say our main couple’s reunion is anything but a pleasant one.
Colin Kincaid is determined to stay loyal to his family while continuing to pursue Brynne. I won’t share major spoilers, but I will say that Colin has his hands full on all fronts. Brynne also has a lot to deal with. This story was filled with plenty of emotions, ranging from humor, steamy romance, and drama, especially when it comes to our main couple. Even though Brynne and Colin have many differences, they have a few similarities, particularly with their mutual family drama. Of course, there are a few familiar faces and new characters that had me impassioned. I also have a few new favorite characters as well. Despite the highly contentious start, Brynee and Colin achieve their HEA. Overall, I did enjoy this story.

I was fortunate received an advanced copy of this of this book. Brynn and Colin meet on vacation in early January. She’s there with her friends getting her mind right for the new promotion she’s been promised at her firm while he’s there for his bestie’s bachelor “party” (party is a very loaded word because these men have drama with a D!) with his crocs collection. Fast forward to Brynn walking into a boardroom and finding out that her steamy holiday fling has been given the job she was promised and is also her new boss.

I loved this book and how Colin was willing to go that extra mile to win Brynn back and how he loved all sides of her.

Brynn has been through some things and I found myself rooting for her to win because she really deserved a happy ending and unconditional love and support.

If you are looking for a fun workplace/vacation/ messy family relations/ amazing friends/healing book this is it!

👍

First, thank you for the extended epilogue, I looooove when We have a glimpse into their future. 🙌🙌
I love me some Killah , that man checked all the box … from fiiiine, kind, understanding, … etc etc etc …
It’s broke my heart when Brynne wouldn’t believe it and being so «  mean » to him 😝.
Heath is just too much !! lol that kid kept laughing & Ernestine should know better… lol, she was the kid’s entertainment. 😂😂😂
I felt bad for Milton, but he should’ve known better. Glad Brynne finally forgave him, he is not a bad lot, just a « genie » as Lisa said. lol

Great read as always, great characters and storyline !

The book was pretty enjoyable but I have to say it was a bit disappointing how everyone kept acting like the FMC was unreasonable for not wanting to be with the guy who stole her job. Also the way he handled it like she was a child throwing a temper tantrum instead of actually acknowledging it why this was so upsetting for her rubbed me the wrong way. It was like “yeah you got screwed over but I want to date you so get over it.” Idk it was nice that they got together but I wished they’d at least had a solid conversation about why her feelings were valid instead of her having to just accept the disrespect and move on with him

Billionaire romance

work /family drama

Game Change is EPIC!!!! 💙💙 Colin and Brynne 's vacation romance falters when reality hits and they're in each other's lives without choice. Their chemistry, their banter, their emotions. This book gave ALL OF THE FEELS !!! I laughed so hard i cried - the workplace atmosphere was so relatable and the side characters became family. Evelyn Sola knows how to write nuanced comedy that takes readers on a journey. So many cute , heart flutter moments. I could not put this book down!! A MUST MUST READ 🔥🔥🥰🥰🥰

One of my favorite Authors. Books and Genre on point and so good. So Honeybee and 2 BFF’s are on a Caribbean vacation to celebrate the changes going on in their lives. Until a group of four men show up in a helicopter to the Air B&B next door. Stop the presses, if 4 gorgeous men show up in a helicopter in front of me I would pass right out.
Brynne (Honeybee) needs this vac a before starting a new job after 6 years of hard work and sweat.
Uncle Milton is quite particular about his attire. Everyday is dress up day. Full suit, matching shirt, tie, cuff links, shoes and umbrella. Uncle Milton expects his staff to follow suit. Uncle Milton has trained Brynne to take over his architectural company. Except he forgot to tell her he had been sweating his nephew “ Paddy Cake” to keep it all in the rich family.
Colin Kincaid of the Boston Kincaid family goes on vacation to celebrate his upgrade of running his Uncle’s job in Boston. Here’s too-leaving the sandy beaches of San Diego for long, cold winter days and a doomed relationship.
What is the odds of both Brynne and Colin showing up at the same firm after a hella vacation in the Caribbean loving and smooching on each other?
Brynne is hopping mad and so is her assistant Ernestine. Ernestine don’t take no mess. Colin is “Paddy Cake” What in the hell?
Mr. Kincaid just insists that he needs his associate Heathe by his side daily. Heathe is really his nephew but nobody needs to know that.
Heathe and Ernestine go at it daily. Heathe insists that Mr. Kincaid is the boss and this business will be run a certain way. Meanwhile Ernestine insists that Brynne worked for this position an over her dead body will Mr. Alpha and his phony aide dictate the business. Heathe insists Ernestine is a witch so he buys her an old-fashioned Broom.
Fast paced, interracial love story to the very end. Evelyn Sola did not disappoint and she keeps you on your toes until the lady page.
This review was written for a ARC with an independent publishing company.

🏗️ Game Change: A 4.5-Star Blueprint for Love

When Evelyn Sola writes, you know you’re getting more than just a romance—you’re getting a "real-world" look at the obstacles interracial couples face, woven into a story that hits every emotional note. In Game Change, she takes us from a sun-soaked paradise to the cutthroat world of architecture, where a "shocking revelation" threatens to demolish everything Brynne and Colin built. 🏗️🏝️✨

📐 From Paradise to the Penthouse
Brynne and Colin are two architects who fall fast and hard on a whirlwind island getaway. The chemistry was "sizzling," and the promises were real—until they returned home. The ultimate "game change" happens when Brynne realizes the promotion she was promised went to none other than Colin. 📉🏢

The shift from lovers to hostile office rivals was intense. Watching them navigate "tricky office politics" while trying to ignore an "undeniable chemistry" made for a high-tension read. And you aren't kidding about the Uncle—he was completely "delusional," adding a layer of family drama that only Evelyn Sola can deliver with such "complicated and real" stakes. 🎭🙄

🎙️ The Narration: Scott Rose & Esme Ramos
Evelyn Sola introduced two new voices to the rotation, and they definitely brought the "sauce":

Esme Ramos: She captured Brynne’s blindsided resentment and her professional fire perfectly. You could feel her "outspoken and defiant" spirit as she fought for the respect she deserved in her career. 🎙️🔥

Scott Rose: He voiced Colin with the right balance of "blissfully unaware" charm and the determination of a man trying to repair a connection he didn't realize he’d broken. 🎙️🏗️

✨ Why This Game Change Wins:
The "Enemies-to-Lovers" Twist: The transition from a tropical dream to a corporate nightmare provided a "racing" pace that kept me hooked.

Interracial Dynamics: Sola always excels at showing the "life they live" and the authentic obstacles encountered by interracial couples in professional spaces. 🌍❤️

The "Blueprints of the Heart": It wasn't just about the physical attraction; it was about reconciling their shared dreams with their professional reality.

My Final Verdict
Game Change is a 4.5-star masterpiece of interracial contemporary romance. It’s a "must-read" (and listen!) for anyone who loves a story where the path to HEA is rocky, "messy," and ultimately hopeful. Brynne and Colin prove that even when fate creates a divide, the right foundation can bridge any gap! 🏗️💍💖

Brynne is on vacation with her girlfriends and she needs to let loose and have fun. Life has been hard for her lately and she needs this break. Milton, her boss has promised her the promotion she has been working so hard for is talking about retiring. She is so excited for this raise & promotion! She meets the handsome man renting the house next to their’s and is feeling things she hasn’t felt in forever! The two houses end up hanging out together because one house is just women and the other is just men there to celebrate one of the guys coming nuptials. Sparks fly between Brynne & Colin!

Colin is the black sheep in his family. He followed his uncle into Architecture instead of following in his father and brother’s footsteps. Now after years of his uncle Milton begging him to join his firm, Colin is finally joining the firm. He is taking over running the firm for his uncle. His uncle, Milton needs to concentrate on getting healthy after a cancer diagnosis. This causes unforeseen issues with the woman he has flipped over that he doesn’t even imagine happening!

This book will be a favorite of mine for a while. I just love the conflicts and the friendships! Loved it.

Ms Evelyn Sola has done it again!!! I was waiting with bated breath for this book because who doesn’t love a cheeky little workplace romance and the whole concept made me excited to see the execution.

As per usual SHE DID NOT DISAPPOINT!! Colin and his Honeybee were absolutely couple goals. From falling in love almost instantly to facing real and relatable issues couples face and then overcoming them, was absolutely beautiful to see.

You could genuinely feel the love Colin had for Bree and it was beautiful to see, especially seeing as she essentially only had her friends (who were hilarious). Heath was a character in and of himself and he made me crack up.

The epilogue at the end really tied it beautifully together because you felt like you watched them live out their lives together and get their happy ending. It was just chefs kiss.

Absolutely Good

Evelyn Sola is one of a very few authors that I don’t need to read the preface to know I will enjoy the book. When I receive her emails, announcing a new book, I get very excited. She really knows how to create unique characters and bring the story to life. I enjoyed Brynne and Colin’s love story and their steamy love affair. The supporting characters helped to complete the storyline and kept it fresh and compelling. I cannot end this review without mentioning Heath and Earnestine’s office shenanigans, they kept me in stitches! Oliver got off to easy in my book, he should have suffered worser consequences. Don’t know if I could have forgiven uncle Milton, but c’est la vie. I absolutely loved this book and can hardly wait until the next!

Secrets and lies make strange bed fellows

Brynne has worked so very hard for where she's gotten....too hard to have all her hard work to be lost to nepotism of the highest degree. Colin is dutiful to a fault. Will it cost him the love of his life? Whew, Child, the drama, the chaos, the spice....it's the perfect recipe for another awesome Evelyn Sola book. And as much as I love the MMC and FMC, it's the side characters for me. Everyone needs a Heath and an Ernestine in their lives. It's the devil in the details with these two. Uncle Milton and Colin the First can kick rocks though.

This book is a definite one-click, definite re-read, definite book club piece. I hope you love it as much as I do.

I’m trying so hard to be positive this year but I felt NOTHING (maybe slight annoyance) about this book. Like I rushed through the last 20 pages. But I did try to keep up with my thoughts (lasted all of four chapters) so here’s that:

I hate that stupid ass nickname.

Also if I never see the word “tryst” again, it’ll still be too soon. No one speaks like this…?

Also the conversations about race in this book were so superficial and I was more annoyed every time she brought it up. No nuance or actual conversation about it was being had because she felt she’d had the moral high ground because she was wronged, girl bye … there’s obviously always a space to discuss race but if you won’t do it properly, don’t waste my time on it. Serious eye toll.

I have read all of Evelyn's work, and I must say this book is my Favorite thus far. She has a way of creating relatable and interesting characters. While reading this book, I found myself wanting to be part of the story. I was pulled in so deeply that I had my own things I wanted to say to the characters. Also, I had several emotional reactions that I didn't expect. You will love this book. It was worth every moment I invested in reading it. Collin and Brynne's love story is magical. You won't be disappointed. I have just added them to my long list of Evelyn Sola couples that I love to read about.
