From the moment this was briefed to me from Wren, I knew it was gonna be incredible.

But fuck me, it’s insanely good. So raw and real from what could be happening in someone’s life, the escape to Jack is something I wish every person suffering to have as a lifeline.

Cain, you are the biggest cunt of them all and I’ll see you in your nightmares. Fucking loony.

Wren, you smashed it. Well done my girl, be proud of your characters because fuck they’re so good🤍

How much abuse is too much abuse?

"My vulnerability was a strength. The fact I could confidently open up to anyone now was a strength. The fact I was building myself from the ground up was a strength." - Willow Thornton

Haven is the first book in the Love on the Tyne series and Wren Willougby's first book. It's a touching tale that highlights themes of passion, resiliency, and survival while highlighting the perils of an abusive relationship.
It centres on Willow Thornton, a young lady who departs from an abusive and toxic relationship and works as an assistant to the CEOs of Lambert and Johnson. Willow has been attempting to start afresh. She was in the care of Jack Lambert, a single father and one of Lambert and Johnson's owners, and found consolation and strides toward healing. She finds herself falling for her boss and vice versa as she makes her way through her new life. However, despite finding the ideal sanctuary and a second opportunity at love, Willow's vulnerabilities and the threat from her past relationship, as well as Jack's ability to take control of the situation, convey an array of challenges for their new relationship.

In this book, Willow has two distinct traits. She seems weak to me during the first few parts of the book, and I want to rage at her for not having the nerve to leave. Seeing her struggle was awful, and I was beginning to feel a little let down when she kept it a secret. You know what I discovered, though, on her journey? When you're in a toxic relationship, it's tough to get out. She is uncertain, perplexed, scared, and conflicted as she considers whether to stay or leave. She might still be holding out hope that things will improve, or she might be worried about her abusive ex's behaviour if they find out you're attempting to leave.
It wasn't until that painful tragedy that changed her life that she realised she needed a shift and found the resolve to move on and start over in a pain-free fashion. Her perseverance and ultimate rebirth were inspiring.
Jack.Oh, Jack! This remarkable man is the perfect match for guiding Willow on her path towards recovery. I can't help but think she's a fortunate woman because of his unsurpassed kindness, patience, and love for her. Except in certain situations where she acts irrationally and refuses to tell him about her reservations. Despite the loss in their family, he was a single father who did an amazing job of balancing his job and parenting his daughter, Frannie.

"I'll never stop catching you when you fall, Willow. I'll always be here." - Jack Lambert

There was a tangible chemistry between these two that radiated from the pages. I'm a sucker for age-gap clichés, yet Daddy Lamb still has the moves that made me fall even more in love with him!
Even while the book moves slowly for some readers, its thoughtful progression enables readers to completely immerse themselves in the characters' growth and journey, ultimately leading to the happily ever after they both deserve.

In addition to keeping readers on edge, Haven raises meaningful topics of morality, liberty, and accountability with its gripping plot, captivating dialogue, and harrowing scenes near the end. It's also a story of pain and tenacity, unusually honest and unapologetic. An excellent book to kick off the series.

I voluntarily read an Advance Reader Copy and am sharing my honest review based on my personal experience. Thank you to Wren and Naughty Nook PR for trusting me with this masterpiece.

This is the most heartwarming book I have read in quite a while. I was in tears the entire time when I was reading this, and I mean it when I say my heart broke then was put back together by this phenomenal story. Yes the romance is so cute, Jack is such a sweetheart I love it. But I feel like the main focus here is the healing from trauma and abuse.

This book is about Willow who just escaped from her abusive ex boyfriend and essentially finds a Haven in her boss Jack, who offers her to stay at his house while she’s healing. Lots of books or movies don’t show a realistic healing process or tend to skip or speed it up, I like how this book focuses on that. In some books it’s like, yeah my new bf is enough to completely heal my trauma, and that may be the case for some people but for most it’s not. Take it from someone who suffered from 3 mental illnesses and found some of her healing in reading, but that wasn’t the only factor, there often are many factors. Like how self defence really helped Willow, and Elle and Silas were such amazing supportive friends too! I love the found family trope and it was so sweet. Her process resonated with me so much, I was in tears

The plot was great, and showed all the twists and turns that come with the healing journey, like once again some days are slower some days you may feel worse and it’s all part of the process and it’s amazing how it’s portrayed. The writing was great, and a lot of the plot drivers I expected because it’s not the first healing kind of romance I’ve read. But let’s talk about Jack, he’s like the greenest mmc I’ve read in a really long time. Yes he makes mistakes but he actively works to be better for her. I love a good I’ll just take her she’s mine but also some cute pining, man was pining for 6 years awww. And my gosh Willow was amazing, her character development was incredible and reading her journey was so empowering and emotional. I adored this masterpiece of a book and give it a 5/5.

I was chosen to be an ARC reader for Haven. It's the book I never knew I needed to read ❤️

We meet 47 year old Jack and his assistant, 29 year old Willow, who, unbeknownst to him, is in a very abusive and volatile relationship.

The way Wren Willoughby carefully navigates the way through Willows abuse and the trauma and healing she endures after is painful and so beautiful. I felt every heartache, I felt the anxiety and the anger, I felt the love, the hope and the fears.

And Jack Lambert 😍 What. A. Guy. He isn't perfect, but not far from it! The way he cares for the people he loves is intoxicating. Everyone needs a Jack in their life.

Their relationship builds so organically and so rich with so much slow burn and yearning. It doesn't feel rushed when they come together, it felt like the perfect time. Their spice was definitely spicing ! 🥵🌶 I loved the confidence they brought out of each other.

I felt an extremely deep connection with this book and Willow as I'd gone through a similar situation at a similar age, weirdly based in the same location! Shout out to the amazing city Newcastle !
Rather than the themes triggering me, I felt empowered through Willow. She made me realise how hard I fought to get to where I am... and finding my very own Jack 🥰

Thank you again, Wren, for such a beautiful, powerful story 💕

The @strut.and.smut ladies love this book and it’s official, I totally get it. It’s absolutely beautiful, so well written, excellent characters and all the emotions.

I have read quite a few dark romances recently and sometimes you need a reminder that not all MMCs are manipulative, obsessive and slightly psychopathic. Jack is thoughtful, so kind and an all round good guy. He is the one to reassure you and give you all the warm vibes 🥰.

Willow is an absolute warrior. She is a queen and I adore her and I know that you will too as soon as you read Haven. @wrenwilloughbywrites has written the most relatable FMC possible.

All of Wren’s characters are great, with amazing BFFs and family members. They made me laugh, you can absolutely feel the love between them all but also feel the sadness when it’s there too.

It’s soooo good to read a book based in the North of England and I can’t wait for what Wren has coming next.

Haven isn’t an easy book to read- make sure you check your TWs before going in. The FMC- Willow- starts the book in a DW situation which isn’t easy to read about. However- it is written well. Wren writes Willow with kindness and understanding, while keeping a dose of reality there.

And then there is Jack Lambert- Willows boss. Everyone needs a Jack Lambert. Everyone deserves a Jack Lambert. This story is a delicious slow burn- he falls first and hard but remains the ultimate gentleman.

The side characters are also perfect! They have their purpose and are a strong part of the story! And god, I hope we get a Fran and Gabe book because I’m here for it!

Outstanding debut novel from Wren and I cannot wait for another book in the series! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Wren Willoughby’s, debut novel *Haven* takes us on a young woman’s journey from a life of unhappiness and abuse to one of empowerment and female strength fostered within a loving relationship.

Wren's writing style is fluid and engaging. The narrative flows seamlessly from one page to the next, maintaining the reader's interest throughout. The characters are described with detailed physical attributes and well-developed personalities, allowing readers to feel a personal connection and become fully immersed in the story.

Wren addresses a significant and sensitive subject in this book: domestic violence, experienced by the main heroine, Willow. Notably, Wren handles the topic with sensitivity and uses Willow’s story to educate readers about the challenges faced by victims, such as reasons for staying, managing relationships outside the abuse, navigating the working world, and the lack of support often received from law enforcement. Rather than focusing extensively on Willow's time in the abusive relationship, Wren takes the reader through Willow’s journey of resurrection, highlighting her struggles to survive the aftermath her abusive relationship. With the support of her friends, Willow reclaims her power, demonstrating her strength and resilience throughout and especially near the end of the novel.

There’s a lot to love about *Haven*. Here’s why it stands out:
• The author, Wren, provides a comprehensive list of possible triggers, a nod to her empathy and professionalism. Take the triggers seriously!
• The novel teaches the reader about the challenges of being in and leaving a violent relationship.
• Willow’s story is relatable. Wren does such a masterful job of developing Willow’s character making her desirable and at the same time real. For example, discussing Willow’s body challenges or health issues.
• Jack and Willow’s relationship is portrayed realistically. It includes difficulties with communication, conflicts, and moments where their flaws are visible to each other.
• This book will keep you on the edge of your seat. One never knows when Willow’s ex abusive boyfriend is lurking around a corner.
• Wren's strong character development in Haven will leave you wanting a novel for each supporting character.

*Haven* is a contemporary novel. Traditionally, women in media, such as movies, novels, and television have often been depicted as being rescued and dependent on their rescuer. *Haven*, however, presents a different narrative. Yes, it is a story of romance, sex, and love, but it emphasises the importance of women reclaiming their power, independence, and self-worth. Wren's work offers a fresh perspective in literature.

ARC REVIEW

" Haven "

by Wren Willoughby

What a debut, Wren. What a first book you have written!

It's so emotional, so raw, so loveable.

The FMC is in a long term abusive relationship and how hard it was to read some of the scenes...
I felt so much anger for that "animal", for all the "animals" out there doing this to women, hurting them physically and emotionally...

The entire chapter 11 is absolutely heartbreaking:
´he roared as he punched me again and again until I was chocking on my own blood.`
I cried for Willow. I cried for all the women that are subjected to this death-being-alive. I cried for all of us.

But then comes the sun. Pouring light over Willow and her shinning knight that is Jack.

Jack is so exquisite, so British, so "man".

And they save each other when they find real LOVE together.

Haven is beautifully written. The British way of writing always captivates me, along with all the descriptive scenes.

This book enters on my favorite ones with all its pain, and love, and spice engraved.

Thank you to the author and Naughty Nook PR @naughtynookpr for this truly amazing ARC.

Some of my favorite quotes (there are so-so many more):

Forcing myself not to look Willow up and down either like a forlorn puppy desperate for a new owner or like a lion waiting for its next meal.

"You're always here for me, let me be there for you."

“You have no idea how brilliant you are, and I can’t wait for you to realize it. The moment you do, you’ll glow from the inside out.”

All of a sudden, his eyes sucked me in, and I couldn't escape them even if I wanted to.

“I’ll never stop catching you when you fall, Willow. I’ll always be here.”

For years I’d dreamt of the chance to love Willow like this. I’d resigned myself to a life of longing. But here I was, carnally bound to the woman of my dreams.

"The way she looks at you, it’s like you created the world just for her, and she’d do the same for you. Everyone deserves a love like that, and you’re lucky to have found it twice.”

“To love you and be loved by you is the greatest gift I’ve ever received. I’m never letting you go”

“You loved me until I could love myself, and now it’s time for us to love us together.”

His words were as filthy as they were monumental

My ARC review

I absolutely adored this book; it hit all the right emotional beats for me and made me fall hard for both Willow and Jack. The slow burn of their relationship felt so genuine and tender, making every small moment between them feel meaningful and real. Their connection developed at just the right pace, and I found myself deeply attached to both of them from early on.

One thing I especially loved was the age gap trope; it was done so well here. Jack, being older, brought this calm, steady energy that balanced out everything Willow had been through. There’s something so comforting about a more mature hero who knows what he wants and treats his love interest with deep respect and patience. Jack wasn’t perfect; he had his own pain and made mistakes; but his care for Willow? Unmatched. He stepped in when she needed him most and never pushed her for more than she was ready to give.

Willow’s journey was powerful and so sensitively written. She had been through a lot; especially in her previous toxic relationship with Cain; and watching her rediscover herself, her strength, and eventually love again was incredibly moving. The way the story explored her healing felt authentic and heartfelt.

And let’s talk about the chemistry; WOW. It simmered under the surface until it exploded, and when the spice kicked in… let’s just say it did not disappoint. The emotional tension, paired with the slow building heat, made it so satisfying when things finally turned up.

The side characters added so much charm and heart, giving the story warmth and depth. Jack’s relationship with his daughter was especially sweet and only made me love him more.

This was a beautifully emotional, slow burn romance full of heart, growth, and seriously swoony moments. I couldn’t stop reading; and honestly, I’d reread it in a heartbeat. Jack and Willow’s story will stick with me for a long time.

My Thoughts:
I can hardly believe this is a debut novel!
Wren has crafted an utterly heart-wrenching story filled with love and healing. Willow has been trapped in an abusive relationship for years, but she finally escapes with the support of her boss, Jack. The caretaking theme in this book is truly remarkable. Jack has harbored feelings for his assistant for a long time, and when the opportunity arises, he dedicates himself to rebuilding Willow from the ground up. As a result, Willow learns to love again. Jack isn't just the ultimate book boyfriend; he’s a book husband! I adored this book and can't wait to see what Wren will create next. Her writing style also reminded me of one of my all-time favorite authors, Sophie Snow.

Haven is the debut novel by indie author Wren Willoughby following Willow Thornton and Jack Lambert. This is a contemporary romance with extremely heavy elements, make sure you are reading the content warning for potential triggers 🚩

Main Characters ❤️‍🩹💚
Willow, our FMC, being able to successfully limit how much of her personal life is exposed to her professional life…it all comes crashing down after her boss hosts the annual charity gala. After many years of abuse she is able to escape her abuser, with no where to go she is offered shelter by very handsome boss.

Jack, our MMC, be still my heart!!! This golden retriever of a man stole my heart right from the start. He is successful, handsome, a widower and a single dad…and he is absolutely head over heels for his personal assistant Willow. He has kept that a secret of course, he knew she had been in a long term relationship and would never disrespect her. After hosting the annual charity gala his company holds, he quickly learns that Willow is not safe and he makes it his mission to change that.

My thoughts 💭
Ahhh this book made me cry so much. Pleeeease read the authors note and content warning, this is heavy and at times very dark. To watch Willow grow in every aspect is so beautiful, she starts off so broken and just grows to be the absolute best of herself. The way Jack loves her is beautiful, they both not only needed each other but the tension in the air was thick. I just loved everything about their love story. This does have a HEA, it’s just a journey to get there but it’s worth it 🩷💫

I received an advance review copy and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

So this amazing debut caught me off guard. I read it in half a day because I couldn’t put it down. It’s a contemporary slow burn romance that couldn’t be more British if it tried. I honestly felt like I was watching a British tv show at times.

After the first chapter of this book, I had a bunch of ideas about how it was going to go. I thought this would be a book that focused more on the age gap/he’s her boss aspect of the story…really, they are very much side issues.

Instead, this book focuses on a young woman escaping an abusive relationship and learning to live (and love) again. It was written in a sensitive way that didn’t feel like it was straight out of a counseling textbook. I felt like I was a trusted friend watching Willow’s journey, cheering on every bit of progress she made.

As you might imagine from the subject matter, the trigger warnings are real and really need to be heeded. This isn’t a fun shopping list trigger warning. Our hero is a green flag guy and he looks good in green. It is definitely an open door book and the chemistry our couple build up is pretty spicy.

If you make it safely past the triggers, this book is a marvelous read. Honestly, if you only read it for two slobbery dogs called Darwin and Dickens and a stuffed highland cow toy called Angus, you won’t regret it. If this is what the author puts forward as a debut, I cannot wait to watch her journey.

ARC Review: Thank you so much to Wren Wiloughby and The Naughty Nook PR for sending me a copy to read and review

Wren Wiloughby is a new author to me. I wasn’t sure what to expect going into this book. All I can say is that it didn’t disappoint. This was a delightful age gap romance. The main characters actually talked to each other and communicated.

Willow is such a strong FMC. She went through a lot, and she took time to accept that she had been through something, but it wasn’t her whole personality. She stood up for herself and made strides to heal.

Jack Lambert is Willow’s boss, and he’s 18 years her senior. He was there to help her out of a bad situation, and he assisted her in picking up the pieces. Even though there had been an instant connection to her on his end, he never thought she would feel the same way. Jack was so swoon-worthy, taking care of Willow and building her back up. It doesn’t hurt that he’s the ultimate silver fox daddy.

Haven is a slow burn that is totally worth it in the end. Jack and Willow’s relationship is beautiful. There was a great mirror scene in this book! Be sure to abide by the trigger warnings. I think that the author handled writing about the difficult topics that Willow went through very well. The scenes were realistic and not over-the-top.

This book was beautifully written over some very heavy and disturbing topic of DV. My heart aches and broke for the FMC and I just wanted to reach out and hug her. As someone from the outside we want to rage and scream and tell them to just leave an abusive relationship, but when you’re in so deep it’s not so easy.

In the beginning you see Willow as weak, scared, and confused on if she should stay or leave. On the outside looking in her relationship looked perfect, but behind closed doors her boyfriend was dark and dangerous. But as the book went on you see her grow and blossom. She finds her smile and laugh again. She’s putting her broken pieces back together again.

Jack, this man was just everything in this story. He was patient, kind, compassionate, caring and would do anything for those he cared for. He had been having a little crush on his young assistant, but didn’t know what her home life was like. And after everything happened he opened his home up to her. He didn’t push his crush or feelings on to her. He allowed her to have space and was there for comfort when she needed.

The connection between the two grew naturally over time. He was a safe place for her and always would be. It was beautiful and sweet. The progression was slow, but with all the trauma and abuse she had gone through, it needed to be that way.

MF Emotional Age Gap Romance

4 1/2 ⭐️
Firstly, this was a great debut novel for Wren.
It hooked me from the start and while I couldn’t put it down I also didn’t want it to end.

This book took me on Willow’s traumatic yet amazing journey to find herself again. She endured so much in her relationship with Cain while hiding it from everyone, including herself.
Then there’s Jack, her older boss, who has been widowed and raising his daughter for the last 11 years. When he realizes his assistant, who he’s been in love with needs help he steps in to do anything he can to for her. While Jack is the perfect man for Willow he still has his flaws and makes mistakes and so does she.

This a slow burn and beautiful romance. Yes Jack loves her but he knows that’s not what she needs right now. Their journey to love from the trauma and pain is amazing.
The chemistry and love they had for each was something else. When the spice comes into play it’s 🔥🥵

There’s no OWD, no cheating, no third act breakup with a HEA

Check the trigger warnings!!

I've said it once and I'll say it again - if there's an age gap, I'm going to read it. And this one... this one was a sucker punch of emotion and has taken me some time to process. It was just. that. good. The fact that it's also a debut novel? All the kudos and praise are owed to Wren Willoughby.

Willow's healing journey after leaving her abusive ex is the heart of this story. It's profound and deep; Willoughby doesn't sugarcoat it, which is refreshing in the way that it helps those who have not been in an abusive relationship understand what it takes to leave and what it takes to survive leaving. Jack, Willow's new boss, ultimately becomes her new love interest. Yet as the hero, he doesn't sweep in and fix all of Willow's problems. Rather Jack is an authentic human - he makes mistakes while working to be better for Willow - she must heal herself, but Jack's support is key in her healing.

As always, read the triggers as domestic abuse is a central focus. This is an intensely emotional story while also beautiful in Willow's journey and romance with Jack.

Rounded up from 3.5

Everyone deserves a love like Jack. That man moved heaven and Earth for Willow and loved her through the darkest times. Willow has been through it, but she didn't let it stop her. She rebuilt herself after a life of the most egregious kinds of abuse there is. Please read the triggers as this book contains heavy content and goes into detail about what Willow experienced.

While I loved the characters and the premise of this story, it didn't quite hit me like I expected it to. I do, however, believe this story has an audience and deserves to be read by those readers. Personally, I feel I would have gotten more out of it if this had been a duet. There was a lot of good story in this, but it also felt like some parts were disjointed. Like something bad would happen, and then we would time jump and have a lighter scene, I wanted more exploration of what happens right after the dark scene.

Overall, I enjoyed the story and would love to know more about Frannie and Elle!!

4/5 stars!

This book was really good. It was also hard to read at some points, too. TW for some pretty extreme graphic abuse and stalking (please only read if this is not triggering to you. Take care of your mental space🫶🏻).

Willow started out as a scared, frail young woman. Being in a 7 year relationship with someone who constantly berated her and physically abused her as well broke her to a point that was *almost* irreparable.

Jack is the co-CEO of a real-estate company that he founded with his best friend. Willow has been his assistant for quite a few years, and he has been crushing on her since day one.

After spiral for Willow, she ends up in need of a place to stay, to which Jack offers her one of his many spare bedrooms.

As Willow begins to heal, their relationship turns into something... more. Jack feels like it's his responsibility to protect her from her past, and she begins to lean on him for comfort when times get tough.

This is a spicy age gap romance🌶

Wow! This book was such a whirlwind of emotions for me. I laughed, I gasped, I giggled and I most definitely cried. This was such a real and raw book and Wren managed to get the perfect balance of an emotional, serious story mixed with a heartwarming, happy story. I think the way that domestic abuse and violence was portrayed was extremely mature and it makes me so sad to know that this is people’s reality. I also think thag the emotions and the feelings of Willow were extremely well written. I really fell in love with the characters of this one. I felt for Willow the whole way through and it was truly incredible to read as she grew as a person. I also adored Jack, he was so incredibly supportive and yearning. The romance was so delectable: the tension, the angst, the yearning (AHH I LOVED IT) The found family in here is amazing too, it made me tear up a little. I 100% recommend this book but please please check the trigger warnings before reading!

Wren, where have you been hiding?! "Haven: A Love on the Tyne" was exactly the kind of slow-burn, grounded romance I love.

The realism and emotional depth pulled me right in. This story is legit real feelings, real struggles, and real warmth; the kind that makes a slow burn truly worth it. I swear the MCs felt as real as you and me.

Speaking of the MCs, Willow’s journey from a terrifying, abusive relationship to finding trust and support with Jack is handled with so much care and honesty. I really appreciated that her healing and their natural connection wasn’t rushed. Jack is that steady, kind presence I yearn for in MMCs, and their relationship evolves naturally, with plenty of heart and meaningful growth.

While I wanted just a little more push in a few moments, this story stayed with me. If you enjoy character-driven romance with real stakes and slow-building intimacy, this one is absolutely worth picking up.

A stellar debut from Wren!! Not gonna lie, I’ve been stalking her social’s for sometime! I’ve not read many books set in the north of the UK so, having family roots that way, I was keen to read this. Add in a workplace/age gap trope & I was sold!!

The story follows Willow as she escapes an abusive relationship from a*sehole, Cain. Her friend & boss, Jack is there for her when she needs him & eventually, in more ways than one 😉. *FYI, not in an icky way! We’re talking: silver fox gentleman but a demon in the sheets 🥵. Team Jack all the way!!! 🙌.

I loved it!! From Wren’s descriptive writing style to the overarching storyline. Jack’s love for his daughter, Francesca & his adoration towards Willow is swoony. There’s also great banter with the supporting characters (I’m looking at you Elle, Mike & Mack). Add in a an intense plot twist & you have a wonderfully written spicy romance!

Jack and Willow: This is an age gap (47/29), V survivor, boss and assistant, trauma healing, single dad, widowen, forced proximity, "he washes her hair", emotional contemporary romance
Willow is trapped in a long term abusive relationship, not even realizing that her life can be different and she can be free. Jack, her boss of over six years comes and rescues her after a weekend long attack and being held prisoner The only person Willow trusts is dack andhe opens up his home to her until she can get back in her feet.Unbeknownst to the two of them that they have been secretly crushing on eachother for years. This story is fullof healing and rawness.
Really enjoyed the pacing of this story. Jack was absolutely perfect for Willow.
The character development with Willow was done really well. Loved all the side characters too.

Wow, what a book!! And congratulations, Wren, on your debut novel.

I haven't been this invested in a book for a long time. I devoured it in a day, and a half, if it wasn't for having to work, it would have been finished in a day.

This story is in some parts quite hard to read, but it is absolutely beautiful. Willow and Jack are just made for each other. Their story is just chefs' kiss. I just don't know how to put down in words how this one made me feel. I just can't stop thinking about it. I definitely will be getting a trophy edition to go on my shelves.

Also, thank you to Lisa and Lottie (@strut.and.smut), who told us at bookclub about this one. Otherwise, I would never have read it.

I can't wait to read more of your books ❤️

I highly recommend this one, but PLEASE READ THE TW as it may not be something you can read about.

Thank you so much to Wren Willoughby for this ARC opportunity ❤️
Haven is a beautiful, heart wrenching story. I was fully immersed into the world of willow and jack from the first chapter. Willow is going through an unimaginable time in an abusive relationship, this was written so sensitively and beautifully and really portrayed the depths of her emotional and physical abuse.
Jack is the absolute dream, he's supportive and understanding. I adore this man.
The spice is so hot 🔥 Jack's dirty talk in contrast to his gentlemanly behaviour is 🥵
The ending is fast paced and dramatic, I held my breath for about 3 chapters 😱
Please please give it a read, you absolutely won't regret it. And well done Wren, you should be so proud of your first novel- what an absolute smash 👏

I love this one lot. I connected with both Willow and Jack very fast. Their connection grew slowly, and it made everything more believable and sweet. Jack wasn’t perfect, but he was caring and patient in a way that felt really special. Willow’s journey was powerful, and even the hard parts were written with so much care. The chemistry between them was so strong, and when the romance turned spicy, it really delivered. I also loved the side characters, they added fun and warmth to the story. This book had heart, tension, and healing, and I couldn’t stop reading. A strong debut. Thank you so much to the author and Naughy Nook PR for giving me the opportunity to read the book in advance, I received this for free and I'm leaving an honest review.

“This is your chance to prove to you that you are worth the fight, you are worth the commitment, and you’re worth so much more than the life he forced on you.”

Jack and Willow……my goodness this was such a hard but beautiful story!

Willow is on the run from an abusive ex. Jack is Willows boss. Jack takes Willow in and literally helps her heal from all the trauma she has endured. I truly couldn’t put this book down. The age gap was perfection. The relationship growth between Jack and Willow was perfection. And Wren’s writing was perfection. I had such a good time reading this. Definitely hard topics, but handled with a lot of care.

Tropes:
💞 Age Gap (29/47)
💞 Boss/ Assistant
💞 Escaping Abuse
💞 Secret Crush
💞 Slow Burn
💞 Forced Proximity
💞 One Bed
💞 Open Door Spice

Haven is a sweet and spicy love story between Willow and Jack, who work together in Newcastle upon Tyne. She’s his talented assistant and he’s her lovely, kind boss. Willow’s in an abusive relationship and Wren Willoughby doesn’t shy away from showing the ugliness of coercive control, financial abuse, and physical abuse.

Things escalate massively when Willow turns down Cain’s public proposal and Jack quite literally comes to her rescue. Their love story is soft and sweet - they come together slowly and gently with lots of yearning! Willow grows so much in confidence throughout the story, it was lovely to see how much they heal each other. I really enjoyed Haven and will be back for Frannie’s story next year!

Haven is on Kindle Unlimited 🥰
