Ever since I can remember, I have had a passion for writing, I suppose that's what happens when you are raised in a very creative family.
I wavered many times throughout the years on which career path I should take, but the one thing that always remained the same, was my need, and my want to write. But I didnt think anything of it, I would start and then give up. But as I grew, the motivational words of people that I loved and lost began to ring loud and clear in my head. So I gave it a shot...
and it was one of the best things to happen to me, and something I will never regret doing.

I'm a firm believer in starting each and every day with a motivational quote and a strong coffee. Look down the path you wish to travel and see the end result, believe in the end result, because it's possible. The only thing standing between you and your dreams, is yourself.

We all remember Kady from Seeking Nirvana - she woke up from a coma and couldn't remember what happened during the last three years. Why she's not a stripper anymore - why there's a hot Irish-man sitting at her bedside and not her boyfriend Liam etc etc...☺

Now we're back in Boston and we're reading about the time before the accident that landed Kady in the hospital.

It all started two and a half years ago - on her second anniversary celebration with Liam.

And as the months go by we see Liam change more and more - he's becoming mean and violent and extremely controlling. And Kady? She's letting him do it to her. Like most victims of domestic abuse she thinks it's all her fault.

We also find out how she met Walker - the hot Irish guy we all fell in love with in the first book.

description

But Walker is working for Liam and he desperately needs the money. So he can't just say eff it and kidnap Kady away from Liam - plus they still don't really know each other - they just met.... maybe one day?

Liam is doing his best to keep Kady's spirits down - he's keeping her away from her friends and family and it's getting even worse.....

The only way to survive the emotional pain Liam inflicts, is to hurt herself....

Remember? We all saw Kady's scars in the first book, but we didn't really know how and why they got there...... Walker has those kind of scars too......

What will happen to Kady & Walker?
Will there be a HEA?
Will everybody die at the end?
o.O Or will there be a horrible Cliffhanger?

description

I'M NOT TELLING YOU THAT OF COURSE... ☺

description

l don't want to spoil anything ☺

ok - it might end a bit Cliffhanger-ish - there is another book coming!

Great Book!

I really loved the first book and I sooo needed to know what had happened to Kady in those last three years.

Now we know ☺

It was really interesting to see how Liam treated her and made her feel responsible for his happiness and more importantly for his unhappiness.

We really find out everything Liam did to Kady in those missing years - the way he hurt her physically and emotionally....

I missed Walker a bit in the beginning - he was such a huge part of book #1 - and he first shows up around the 40% mark of this second book. But since this second book tells us about the past, he couldn't have been there from the beginning :( But like I already complained a bit in the first book - the sexiness is missing for me - and I had the hope that it would come in this second book - but 'we' only have sex with Liam - and that's too weird for me :(

I really enjoyed reading it and I was happy to find out what had happened to Kady...BUT - here's my big BUT ...this whole book reads like some kind of non-fiction/self-help book about domestic abuse - and that's not really what I signed up for when I read the first book and wanted to know how the story goes on :( Doesn't mean it wasn't a great book and an interesting story, but had it said in the blurb that it would be a domestic abuse-find-yourself-again(maybe)book - then I probably wouldn't have read it.

..... I apologize ahead before I write the following lines.... I probably have no idea what I'm talking about but I have to say what I think and what I felt while reading it - and this is it:

description

I know this domestic abuse thing is a huge problem in every country, in every level of society. With both female and male victims.

BUT - why doesn't Kady leave?? Why don't her parents come and get her? Why don't they worry about her? Most parents would be in Boston after the first not-answered phone-call.

She has a sister who knows what an ass Liam is, she has two girlfriends who could help, Walker is helping, but not enough - plus there are women's shelters in every city.

I know that the abuser uses mind-games to make the women feel small and guilty, but still - after the first slap or the first time he touches me wrongly after I wore the 'wrong' clothes - I'M OUT OF THERE!!!! Even if I think I love him - I know what domestic abuse is - Kady seems like a street-smart girl - she was a stripper - she must know girls who have been violated by pimps or Johns??

I just can't understand how she could stay with Liam through all this.

And I know it happens in real life and I know those girls, women, don't feel they have a way out - or they even don't know that there is something wrong - but Kady is not alone in the world?? Why doesn't she leave right at the beginning? Why isn't anyone coming to help her?

Ugh - rant over - sorry if it was too much - but I just had to say it- and I really don't want to offend any of the real-life victims - I obviously don't know what I'm talking about and what you're going through - but this is just what I felt while reading the book. :/

Just a last word/wish - I hope all victims of domestic abuse find the strength to leave WAY before it's too late. NOTHING IS YOUR FAULT! JUST GO!!!!!! ♥

OK - that was the negative - and now the positive....

ELUDING NIRVANA was a wonderfully real & dark Romance - and you will sooo fall in love with Walker too! ☺

Now I really hope that book #3 will be much sexier and happier and just great!!!

Please Victoria, hurry and finish book #3!!!!! I need to know if there will be a great HEA for Kady & Walker! ☺

Since I read the first one to this I was most anxious to read this one since I was literally like left holding on to a tightrope. So peeled off my hands and dove right in. Perfect opening which picked me up and carried me away right as if I almost never left. Love the insert of the timeline also goes perfect with the reading and leads you along with a even flow. The door is opened and now the secrets and the truth is revealed. Man does this author have the talent to suck the reader in with you being so feeling the characters from previous novel that when after opening you are right there with Liam and Kady as you get the privilege of viewing everything once the unlocking began. Kady is one lady truthfully many a time I would find myself wanting to snatch her up torn between rescue or a good shaking to see if the manipulation done on her could be shock loose. Having known or know for that matter a few women survivors understand what happens but with my personality would like to cut the Liam's of this world. This is a must read (first one should be read) to see exactly how and why this can happen. This author has captured it perfectly bringing it to life with these characters that live thru it. You are also privy to how and exactly more of who Walker is and how he fits in to all of this. Her so called friend as you read the events just want to make you go up in there and smack that crazy you know what.
This is indeed one fine intense read that was definitely worth the soreness from hanging on for this. It is so well written I do find myself really at a loss for words because they are hard to find to do it justice. Even though you suspect at first and when your suspicion confirmed it is a very graphic decapitation of a woman who thinks she deserves it because of her feelings but the monster who does it is truly a master of the game. Desperate for love can certainly cause you to overlook alot and creates false utopia. I will say it again this author knows how to write with this one pulling out a wide range of emotions from us the readers all in experiencing the true meaning of Nirvana. Just right when you think all is lost it will be found. Received a arc for a honest review.

I loved the first book in the series, Seeking Nirvana. I couldn't wait to jump straight into this one since we where left on a cliffhanger.

I found some of this book very hard to read.
Why?
Because of one character LIAM.
He is such a evil and twisted man, I felt like crying for Kady with some of the scenes and sometimes I felt like screaming at her to realise this isn't what she deserves! She thinks she deserves what he is putting her through, she doesn't. No women deserves it, not matter what you have done.
This book was such a eye opener to what can go on behind closed doors and how easy it is to hide it from the rest of the world.
Eluding Nirvana picks up the same time Seeking Nirvana ends. We get to see how Liam and Kady's relationship went from perfect to Kady having to walk on eye shells for fear of a punishment. This book was such a emotional roller-coaster, I felt angry, shocked, upset and happy for tiny bits.
Walker is Kady's anchor, he helps her out when she needs it because he understands her and her needs. So many times throughout this book I felt like shouting to Kady to run off with Walker. He may not be rich but he damn well knows how to take care of a women. Walker was loveable from the start. I loved him throughout this book and I can not wait to see where Victoria takes us with book 3.

Victoria you should be proud of this book, it is amazing the way you wrote it. I loved every second of reading it even if some parts were hard to read.

Another 5 star rating!!

Wow !! What can I say ? Dark , thought provoking , gut wrenching, sickening , caring , twisted are just a few words to describe the second part of The Dark Evoke series.

This book takes you back to before the accident to discover what kind of relationship Kady and Liam have together . To say I wasn't shocked at how sadistic someone can be is putting it mildly . How much do you change for the man you love and care for ?

I love the way Victoria takes you on a journey of self discovery , fear, loathing , and self harm and how you cope .

Walker is the Irish rogue with a heart of gold and anchor in Kady's life knowing exactly who she is , what she needs and how to help her cope , while at the same time falling in love with her .

Liam is a man with a successful business and a dark side that no one really knows about . Punishment is his way of showing you who's in charge and how not to disrespect , humiliate , , question his authority . There's punishment and punishment !

Kady has changed herself for Liam who she desperately wants to please with every fiber of her being , but ends up doubting herself and everyone around her .

I had trouble getting onto and enjoying Seeking Nirvana as it wasn't what I expected, but I tried again and loved it after a second attempt but Eluding Nirvana I picked up and within 8 hours I had devoured it !

Can't wait for #3 !!

Well done Victoria . Awesome book and loved every single word of it !

Eluding nirvana

Oh God where to start with this review.
Let me just say this has been a hard story for me to read.

And here is why: I HATE Liam!

Continuing on from seeking nirvana, Kady has gone home with Liam. Walker and Laurie are still in her life and so is Liv.
Walker kind of drops hints on what Kady's life was like before the accident, but nobody actually sits her down and tells her Kady has to work it out for herself.
The story then goes back two and a half years before Kady has the accident. We get inside the relationship of Kady and Liam and let me say it's a Freaking shocker. I had so many emotions going through me. I was seething at Liam and I wanted to smack kady and tell her to wake the fuck up.

I really can't say much more about this story as I will just be spoiling it for you.

I take my hat off to this author who has been very brave with this storyline. What you have to remember, however angry you get, it happens in real life to thousands of people.

10********** I know normally only 5*'s but this book is just WOW.
You know when you read a book and when it ends it kind of has that enlightenment to it. Well this book will stay with me!

When I began writing Eluding Nirvana, I wanted to demonstrate numerous things which sometimes go unseen and unspoken, as well as once again, tiptoeing a line which has been the topic of controversy for a while.

I strove to not only bring you a story, but to share with you the emotions alongside the questions, which come hand in hand, while observing the journey in which both hero and heroine embark on in this installment, as though you were watching the actions of a loved one.

When I did my final proofread, I was able to stand back and read the story from the reader’s perspective instead of the author, and safe to say, it was a roller-coaster - one which will continue until the final page of The Dark Evoke Series has been written.

I hope that you enjoy this dark read, a read in which many people have/are experiencing every day, in silence.

Loved Eluding Nirvana. Emotional read of Kady who suffers emotional and physical abuse by Liam her longtime boyfriend who makes her feel like she's delusional, and crazy. Walker is lady's savior and so relieved that she had someone to turn to. Definitely looking forward to reading more and am left wondering if this is the end of the story or will we be hearing more of Liam, Walker, and Kady.

5 Brilliant stars if I could give it more I would I Don't know where to start with this review.

This book was hard for me to read because it is so real to me and can happen to any one of us ….women or even men can go through this every day.

I F*cking HATE Liam I have thought up loads of ways to kill him in my head ha ha

Eluding Nirvana Start's of where book 1 end's Kady remembers everything she tells us her story and what happen in the missing years she had forgotten because of the accident.
We get inside the relationship of Liam and Kady and oh boy that is just heartbreaking. you think she has it all perfect relationship ….but far from it Liam is one evil twisted S.O.B …I had so many emotions running through my head I wanted to shake Kady and tell her get the hell out of there ( but unless you have been in this kind of relationship it is very hard to walk away you live in the hope that they will change for the better and I really believe that’s what Kady thought would happen so people don't judge anything you don't understand I hear people every day just walk away but trust me it isn't that easy to do so …..

At the end of the day you have to remember no matter what you feel about this book it DOES Happen in real life
and I think the Author has covered this pretty well as it is a hard subject to write about people will judge but I really think V.L has been brave enough to do this Story and I am so proud of her for doing so …

I connect with Kady on so many levels it is well written
I don't want to say to much as I don't want to spoil it for the reader's but… please go in with an open mind and don't judge Kady for anything cause it isn't an easy situation for anyone to be in

I really Can't wait for book 3 to see if Kady and Walker get HEA and I can jump on Liam's head grrrr I really hate that man with a passion

This is the second book in the Dark Evoke Series. It follows the life of Kady who is trying to put the pieces of her memory back in order following a car accident.
My heart totally went out to Kady as I experienced the journey along with her. It was difficult to read parts of it but these parts are written sensitively and give you an understanding of the darkness that people can encounter in life and how they deal with it.
I know it's irrational to hate characters in a book but OMG, if I could hire a hitman to take out Liam, I'd do it in a flash!
I look forward to reading the final instalment and finding out how it all ends.

Evoking Nirvana (The Dark Evoke Series #2)

I loved the first book in the series. Seeking Nirvana. I would recommend reading the first book in series before reading this book, otherwise you will not know what is happening or understand this book very well.
I couldn't wait to read this book as I loved book 1 and I was desperate to find out what was going to happen. The story continued exactly how book 1 ended.
Liam is still as evil and twisted as he was in the first book. Some parts were hard to read because of how Liam was. It frustrated me and upset me that Kady thought that she deserved everything that Liam was doing to her and how he was treating her. It was really hard to read those scenes as no one deserves how she was being treated. I wanted to jump in the book and take her away from everything.
Walker was Kadys strength through everything. He wants to help her and save it. I loved him and his character was brilliantly developed. I wanted more and more of him. I loved how he was trying to drop hints to Kady all the time about before the accident, but never actually fully telling her. I felt that he should of told her everything. Dropping hints wasn't helping very much and I think just telling her out right would of been best.
The bit I ,over most about book 2 was that the author took us back to before Kadys accident. I loved that we got to see Kady and Liam's relationship before she lost her memory. The author is so talented, she knows how to reveal things at exactly the right time and when it's best to hold things back and when to throw in absolutely shockers.
The whole story had me experience so many emotions because of all 2 characters were completely different. One minute I was angry, disgusted and feeling so much hatred. Then the next minute I was heart broken, frustrated and sad.
I think the author tackled a very hard subject to write about very well. She gives you a look in to abuse and the victims perfectly. You could tell that she had done a lot if research to get the information in the book correct. She made you understand that even though you no what your partner is doing is wrong and you need to get free, that's it's not always as easy as you think it is. She makes you see how the a abuser wares you down until your nothing and that you can't leave. The writing style throughout this whole series was perfect.
I would recommend this series to everybody who likes dark reads, but also emotional books.
The story has everything you want it and more. I can't wait until the final book is released so I can see how things turn out for everyone, esp Kady. I want her to get her happy ever after that she deserves and to have everything made better for her.
Be prepared for another emotional rollercoaster of a read again. But also be prepared for a great story wrote by a fantastic author.

Here we go continuing on with the mind screw !! This book takes you back to the years leading up to the accident , the lost years...
I don't even know what to say , some of my most horrible thoughts have come true yet I still have so many questions unanswered and not to mention the desires I have for the present and future of Kady's life. Both books sucked me in and I feel invested in Kady's life , I need her to be safe and I need her to remember those years. Most of all I need her away from Liam , OMG I hate him. What a crazy sick man he is. He may be successful and loved by many but he has some serious issues. The abuse you witness Kady go through in this part of her story is heartbreaking and so frustrating because you see what he is doing and you see her doubting herself because of what he says. he is a master manipulator and HELLO LIV how is this ok with you. Thank goodness for Walker , although when his purpose in Kady's life comes to light I am shocked because I didn't see that coming at all !! These books had me so twisted in my head that I forgot about the teasers and synops and things I should have picked up on flew by me because I was so bent on finding certain answers. Again this is not a book you can easily review because I do not want to give anything away and I honestly am still reeling from the revelations that came out near the end. I flew through this book so fast I need more NOW !! Take this journey with Kady and help her find her way back. Just don't lose yourself in her craziness !! I swear I felt a little crazy after finishing these books !!

Dark and Psychological Page Turner

This is a dark, dark read! Kady’s memory has returned and we find out about events in the last three years and the run up to her car accident. Both friends and foes are confirmed and we bear witness to the extent of control that a sociopath can have over their victim and the physical and emotional abuse that this can entail. It is truly terrifying and the author portrays it brilliantly.

Many of the passages and situations are dark and sometimes the emotions that they invoked made me want to put the book down, only to want to pick it back up immediately. I was just so emotionally invested in the characters.

The light in the darkness for Kady and myself, as reader, was undoubtedly Walker, a man who has his own dark past to come to terms with. Walker seems to understand Kady’s demons and helps her find release from her situation. It is clear that he would never hurt her. The motivations for Walker’s actions in the first book and those of Liam are explained more fully in this novel. We also learn more about the part their characters play in the story: Liv, Laurie and Mrs Steinbeck (a character who I wanted to slap).

The read brings us back full circle and I am eagerly awaiting the next book to find out where Kady goes next in her quest to find herself and secure her HEA.

I recommend this read to readers who like psychological suspense alongside their romantic reads and who are able to handle dark themes. Please note that a copy of this book was given to me by the author for the purpose of a fair and honest review.

Book 2 starts exactly where book 1 left off, but takes us back in time, to before the accident that robbed Kady of her memories.

In many ways, this book is better written the the first because the abuse that was dealt with in book 1 is much more present in this one. Liam is a nasty piece pf work, and extremely clever. Like many abusers, he starts slow and builds up to an evil bastard.

Again, the book isn't as dark as I was led to believe, but this book was more of a psychological suspense as we follow Kady. We know the accident is coming up because it's already happened in book 1, but it's an emotional roller coaster throughout the build up. The main issue I had was the use of British terms such as 'nan' and 'shagging' which are not commonly used in the US. While it doesn't bother me as a Brit, it threw me a little.

Again, Walker is trying to help Kady, but again he bugged me for the same reasons as in the first book. When it came to him being Kady's anchor, I fell in love with him a little, but I personally didn't like the way he was a bit too forceful for my liking, but it completely worked for this story.

I actually preferred this book to the first as it answered many of the questions left at the end of book 1, and delved into the backgrounds of the characters more than the first did. I really can't wait for the next installment of the series to find out what happens to all of them. 4 stars.

I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book starts off right where Seeking Nirvana left off. Literally. Then it immediately starts flashing back. The holes in Kady's memory start to fill up, and it is a pretty wild ride. The twists and turns are quite interesting, and I can honestly say that I wasn't able to predict what happened.

We learn a lot more about each character as Kady recounts the past 3 years that she woke up missing, and some of it is quite startling. The author did a fantastic job with their personalities. She creates a great villain.

Great continuance of this dark series.

I would only caution women that have been in an abusive relationship to steer clear of this series if your wounds are still somewhat fresh. It could be too much. Other than that, superb storytelling.

It's not often I read a book where I love the sequel more than the original, but Eluding Nirvana was definitely one of those books.

Read the warning with caution - this isn't an easy book to read. It's cruel, dark, and heart wrenching.

The second book in the Dark Evoke series, Eluding Nirvana, fills in the pieces of what happened in the months leading up to the accident that robbed Kady of her memory. At times, I felt a little frustrated with her because she did flit between knowing Liam is abusing her to making excuses for his behaviour. But ultimately I just felt gutted for her... what she goes through... time and time again.

I enjoyed learning how her relationship with Walker developed... the bond they share...

V. L writes in such a way that you really feel what the characters are saying / doing. It is truly captivating and I can't wait to find out what's next...

Another GREAT emotional book , just wow!

Again I have been dragged through the emotional wringer with Eluding Nirvana, book 2 of The Dark Evoke series.

Where Seeking Nirvana ends is where Eluding Nirvana begins or does it? We get a taste and then V.L. brilliantly goes back to 2 1/2 years and moves up the the day of the accident.

In book 2 we get a better look into Kady & Liam's relationship. Kady & Walker's relationship. Kady & Liv's relationship. This book had me in tears, just broke my heart. And when a story can make me cry….5 stars, no matter how those tears came about…happy, sad, funny, etc.

Again warning…..you you don't like stories of abuse physical/mental, self mutilation, infidelity…don't get. This series is for very open minded people who love to lose themselves into a story.

GREAT story V.L.!!!!!!!

Diving into this I was really hoping to get some answers to Kady's past and boy did I ever get the answers. Liam may seem like the caring lovable boyfriend in the first book but in this one he is a sadistic son of a b***h and the crap he put Kady thru would make you want to hurl. This book starts out in the present but then it delves into the three years that Kady had lost when she had her accident.
We get to see how she became friends with Laurie and the sexy Irishman Walker. Both of them were always there for and her so called friend Liv i could have slapped the crap out of for what she was allowing Liam do to Kady. Very well written, fast paced, dark and emotional read this book kept me gripped from beginning to end. Looking forward to the next book.

This second book in the Nirvana series follows the relationship of Liam and Katy from the beginning. This book chewed me up and spit me out in a million pieces! I literally wanted to kill Liam with my bare hands. I'd do jail time for his murder with no guilt on my conscious! Eluding Nirvana is a nerve wracking, suspense, keep you on the edge of your seat! Great writing, easily followed plot and dang it I couldn't put it down! I am recommending this series to all of my reading friends and anyone else who will listen! Great job with this book V.L. The subject of domestic violence is often a subject that's taboo and overlooked. You did an absolutely brilliant job of revealing the ugly truth, but, it's done with class and integrity on your part! I'm on to Transcending Nirvana.....please, please, please be the outcome I want! :-D

After reading Seeking Nirvana I was extremely looking forward to reading the next installment, Eluding Nirvana. I promtly pre-ordered this book. As the first one did, it had me hooked from beginning to end. The writing style was wonderful and really captured the feeling of the story. This is a dark read and yet it really makes you feel connected to the characters from page 1. It really gives you and insight into the minds of the abused, and makes you think that it isn't easy to just 'walk away'. I really felt for Kady and her fight to stay grounded. I recommend this novel to anyone who wants a real and honest read. Will definitely be pre-ordering the final installment of this, and am extremely looking forward to reading it.

m not sure my words can describe this very well. the book is beautiful and evil at the same time and deals with dark subjects like self harm and abuse. i loved the first book but the second filled in all the gaps for me.
the prologue repeats the end of the last book where walker takes kady to mcgintys and sings the jackson 5 song ill be there which sets of a memory for Kady when she arrives home she hears liam on the phone and all her memories come tumbling back.

chapter one begins two and a half years before the accident basically filling us in on the 3 year gap in KADYS memory. we learn friends are not always friends and blood might be thicker than water and its a hell of a roller coaster ride.

The second installment of The Dark Evoke series, Eluding Nirvana, takes you back two and a half years before Kady's accident, and shows you everything that Kady went through to where seeking Nirvana ends.
It shows you Liam's progression of mental and physical abuse.
I loved how Victoria continued to capture my attention throughout this book and i really enjoyed it as much as the first, if not more.
Again i loath and detest Liam, and found some of the story difficult emotionally.
Thank you Victoria for sending me on yet another emotional roller-coaster and leaving me emotionally drained.
I loved Eluding Nirvana and cannot wait for the next installment.

Victoria has done it again. I effin love this series hard!!

I thought book one had me ruined, no.
Book two had answers, but that didn't make it "easy answers!"
Thoughts from book one were confirmed, but with clarity came deep pain and heartache for kady.
So many hard hitting factors in this book so beautifully done. Feelings so perfectly portrayed!

Fabulous second look at these characters I'm eagerly awaiting book three. Need to no if kady will finally have the happy ending she so desperately deserves.

"How the fuck could someone do something so sadistic to the person they say they love?"

OMG I thought the first book seeking nirvana was a brilliant book, this book is on par with it.

In this book 2.5 years to Kady and Liam' s relationship. Can't believe someone can be so evil. If someone had given me a baseball bat I would of quite happily hit Liam with it.

What I loved about this book as due to the amazing writing by thus author you feel yourself on Kady's discovery with her. The writing style was written so sensitively and the understanding of what people go through and how they deal with it.

I can't wait to read book 3 to see how this ends

This book was amazing. It follows on where Seeking Nirvana left off, with us going back in time to find out what happened in those missing years. You won't be disappointed as answers to questions from Seeking appear. Prepare for finding your jaw tense, your fingers tightly curled and an overwhelming urge to do physical harm to a fictional character! Roll on the final part (write quicker Victoria!).

I can't begin anywhere else but to begin in saying that Liam is a D-bag! I found myself cringing with the things he would do to Kady. And honestly, I was getting pretty irritated with the fact that she let it happen & worsen. I kept hoping she'd wake up & leave! And Walker... I really loved his character!

This series is really well written & full of surprises. Kady starts remembering things & they are not good things at all. Liam is out of town & she is trying to figure everything out before he gets back. She slowly starts to realize he is not the perfect boyfriend she thought he was. I can't wait for the next book !

Wow wow wow...
Really thought I read all the heartache in book one but no more to follow on book two...

"I remember, I remember everything"

So many times i wanted to scream at kady for staying with that excuse of human being Liam! I'm so thankful there's a happy ending.

So can't wait for book 3 to see if kady finally gets the happy ending she deserves
