Chance brings them together; destiny bonds them…
Still mourning the death of her husband and young son, Jodie Hanson writes a blog for grieving widows and mothers as a way to deal with her broken heart. She has her life under control until her landlord sells the home she considers her safe haven, and a former colleague offers her a position as a travel blogger.
Needing to move, Jodie accepts Heather Archer’s offer to live in a deceased aunt’s consignment shop in exchange for disposing of its dusty remnants, which coincides with the start of her new job. Jodie finds both tasks challenging, though handyman and neighbor, Brad Davenport, provides his helpful assistance.
Chance brings Heather, then Brad, into Jodie’s life, lifting her out of darkness. Is it destiny that the handsome guy next door finds his way into her heart?

Refreshing, inspiring and thoughtful beginning journey
I really enjoyed reading this first book in The Journey Series. It is a second chance in the lives for Jodi, Heather and Brad. It seems like fate brings these three together to help each other in their current circumstances which helps them grow personally while friendship develops. I am looking forward to continuing on the second leg of their journey. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves women's fiction, second chance at love, and best friends.
Jodie's husband and son were killed in a shooting 5 years ago. Heather meets Jodie at the diner where Jodie works. Heather has inherited an aunt's house that she never met. Jodie just lost her apartment, and Heather offers her the house temporarily in exchange for Jodie getting it ready to sell. Brad lives next door. His wife and child were killed in a car bombing. This is the beginning of a series about the 3 of them, and I am going to grab book 2 now.
This was well worth the read. I love second chance romance stories and this was perfect. Wholesome and uplifting. Wonderful characters that feel like close friends and or kindred spirits. I highly recommend this this clean , uplifting and inspirational story. Enjoy
A refreshing take on different types of loss from different perspectives. I grew up where the story takes place and it was wonderful reading about the landmarks that meant so much to me!
It was a great feel good book. A glimpse into the life of someone that has had to cope with continuing on with life after tragedy. Shows how life can and will go when you are surrounded with good people and a purpose.
Kathleen McKee has a rare talent for bringing to the page the silent inner conflicts and struggles that show the emotional depth of her characters. This is easy reading, but not a simple, shallow story, nor a formulaic one. This is definitely a five-star book.
I really enjoyed this clean romance. It kept my interest from the first page to the last. It is the first book I have read from this author, but won’t be the last!
A gentle, heartwarming story, perfect after heavier reads. Jodie Hanson lost her husband and son and spent years healing—writing a grief blog, leaving her corporate job, and waitressing in a small town. When her landlord sells the property, she must start anew. Along the way, she meets a woman who has inherited a home and business and a helpful neighbor, and other friendships begin to form, opening the door to community and new beginnings.
This cozy story beautifully shows how people rebuild, connect, and step back into life. I’m excited to spend more time in this charming series.
This book is good for both cooling off at the beach or warming up by the fire! It is delightful first foray into a romance genre for Kathleen McKee author of the Aspen Notch cozy mystery series. I especially appreciate Kathleen’s crafting of scene descriptions with clear color and precious language. Per usual Kathleen teases the reader by leaving the ending wide open for the next installment. What fun!
