This is a tender story of love and forgiveness - forgiving others, forgiving life, and forgiving yourself. Christ's atonement is the basis for life time decisions. Perfect for all true "Romantics." The eternal triangle - one woman, two loves!
I found this book a little more captivating than the first in this trilogy. Maybe because it was a more familiar setting for me, or maybe I just could relate more. At first, I was mad at Shielah for loving and being with both guys at the same time. But then, I remembered back to when I was young, and it was more believable. It is amazing how time can change your pespective. It was fun to read. Definitely very dated. The story took place in the 70's and it transported the reader back to that time. No "cell" phones, that would have made a very different story.
Second book in a trilogy but can be read alone. Set in the 1960's and 70's, Shielah falls in love with two men. She has suffered loss and anger and is trying to find her way in life.
I was not upset with Shielah loving two men. I think it is very natural to have more than one person that could be a great match for you. Sure it is more romantic to think that you have a soul mate but it probably isn't likely. The author did a great job of showing the attributes of each man and why Shielah would love them. Having to sit through a whole book of her trying to choose one was painful at times.
Paulo is much more worldly in the sense that he has visited more places, he is a little older, and he does not come from the same background......religious or community as Shielah. He is very loving and can offer her a life in which she will be taken care of.
Stephen and Shielah grew up together. They have the same values and a shared history. Stephen can give Shielah the eternity she wants and has a good understanding of her religious desires. He also has a connection to her family which is important because of the great lack of family she has.
This is the second book in a trilogy. It takes place in the late 1960's and early 1970's during the Viet Nam war. It's a compelling story about faith and family and loss. It is also a great love story.
Second book in the trilogy. Not as good as the first or third, but it is important as it builds on the characters from the first book and really sets the stage for the third book. Editing wasn't great in this book as there were several errors.
This book was alright. The love triangle made me want to scream most of the time but on the other hand I couldn't put it down. It's pretty much the classic cheesy LDS romance novel.
