Poppy Miller believes she can read a person by their pastry preferences.
So when grumpy architect Noah Westfield claims he doesn't like sweets—while secretly devouring her blueberry muffins—she knows there's more to him than his buttoned-up shirts suggest.
Noah's only in Sweetsville for six weeks to oversee the town hall renovation. The quicker he finishes, the faster he'll earn that big-city promotion. The charming small town with its irritatingly cheerful baker shouldn't be a distraction. Especially when his firm expects him to recommend tearing down certain "non-historic" buildings—including her sunshine-yellow bakery.
As Noah finds himself accepting an "extra muffin" each morning (purely for research, obviously), the small town's magic begins working on more than just his sweet tooth. But when Poppy discovers his firm's true plans, she'll have to decide if there's a man worth saving beneath that grumpy exterior, and Noah must choose between the career he's built and the small-town life—and baker—he never knew he needed.
Some connections are too sweet to resist...even for a man who claims he doesn't like sugar.
Poppy Miller thinks she has the power to read people, and read their personalities, based on their pastry preferences.
Poppy quickly realizes there's more to grumpy Noah Westfield when he claims that he's not one for sweets – all the while devouring Poppy's blueberry muffins. And Poppy knows his buttoned-up shirts are just a mask, hiding who he really is.
Noah has come to Sweetsville to oversee the town hall renovation and should only be there for six weeks. And he knows the quicker he can get the job done, the faster he can get home, and the quicker he can earn that big-city promotion. But, Sweetsville is a charming town, even if it did have a rather irritating baker but none of that should be a distraction to Noah. His firm expected him to recommend tearing down certain “non-historic” buildings – and that included Poppy's sunshine-yellow bakery.
Things change though as Noah finds himself accepting an “extra muffin” every morning (just for research he thinks), and slowly the magic of the town starts to work its way into more than just his sweet tooth. But, Poppy soon learns of Noah's true intentions and she has to decide if there's more to Noah that's actually worth saving, Noah himself has to choose between his carefully built and the small-town life – with the baker – the two things he never knew he needed more than the big city career.
Some connections are far too sweet to resist...even for a man who claims he doesn't like sugar.
Extra Muffin by Luna Rose is part of Luna's The Lucky Bench Collection. This book offered us a lovely escape into the small town of Sweetsville, Vermont. Here, we get to meet Poppy Miller, she's a third-generation baker, and Poppy tries her best to win Noah Westfield over to the town's charms when he arrives in town to revamp the town square.
Poppy, fearing what Noah could do to hear beloved town, does her best to bring Noah over to the charms of the town with an extra muffin each morning, even though he claims that he doesn't like sugary treats.
Noah soon finds himself fighting with himself trying to decide between the career he's so carefully built in the big city corporate world or taking on this small-town life with the baker who has been tempting him with her sweet muffins. Poppy on the other hand finds herself fighting to decide if Noah is a man worth trying to save from himself, no matter how grumpy he might be, or has his corporate world corrupted him and there's nothing left worth saving.
I loved the way Luna Rose uses the classic clash of culture narrative – that of small-town magic versus the call of big-town corporate ambition – to create this beautiful romance between two opposite people.
Luna Rose has given us a book that delivered on the promise of a sweet and easy read that's full of characters that you'll never forget.
I love the individuality of each character, the growth and development each character goes through in the book, and their arcs through the book are just perfect.
The plot of this book is so sweet and gives us the perfect easy read that is so nice and needed in a world of books that can seem dominated by spice and sometimes the over-domineering darkness. (Although I do love both those genres, I do love this side of contemporary romance.)0
Extra Muffin gives you a sweet enjoyable reading experience, this is the perfect book for anyone who is looking for a quick read with the feel of small-town romance and will remind any reader that even the grumpiest person can have a change of heart with a bit of time and sweetness. I am sure like me, you'll find that the narrative will entertain and touch any fan of light-hearted romance.
"Extra Muffin" by Luna Rose offers a charming escape into the quaint world of Sweetsville, Vermont, where Poppy Miller, a third-generation baker, attempts to win over Noah Westfield, a seemingly soulless corporate architect tasked with revamping the town square.
Poppy, fearing the demolition of her beloved bakery, endeavours to "sweeten" Noah with an extra muffin each morning, despite his professed disdain for sugary treats.
Noah must grapple with choosing between the career he built in the corporate world or embracing this small town life with its baker and their sweet muffins. Poppy must grapple with deciding if there is a man worth saving under the grumpy exterior.
The narrative promises a classic clash of cultures – small-town charm versus corporate ambition – and a heartwarming romance between two unlikely individuals.
While the book delivers on its promise of a sweet and easy read filled with endearing characters, the author's excessive use of asides proves a distraction. Initially, these seemingly random thoughts and observations appeared to be a stylistic choice meant to flesh out Poppy's personality. However, the consistent presence of similar asides from Noah suggests a broader writing style rather than a specific character trait.
Ultimately, "Extra Muffin" provides a light-hearted and enjoyable experience, perfect for readers seeking a quick dose of small-town romance and a reminder that even the grumpiest of hearts can be won over with a little bit of sweetness. The narrative is sure to entertain fans of light-hearted romance.
Extra Muffin, written by Luna Rose, is a delightful and heartwarming small-town romcom that beautifully intertwines history with the present, creating a narrative that is both sweet and substantial.
At the heart of the story is Noah, who insists he has no taste for sweet things. However, Poppy, with her keen insight, recognizes his hidden cravings and takes it upon herself to indulge his sweet tooth. Their dynamic takes a turn when Noah's intentions to demolish non-historical buildings, including Poppy’s beloved yellow shop, position him as more of an adversary than a potential love interest. Yet, as the charm of the small town begins to work its magic on him, Noah finds it increasingly difficult to envision his life anywhere else.
This engaging tale captures the essence of community, love, and the transformative power of relationships, making Extra Muffin a must-read for fans of feel-good romance.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
“Defeat never tasted so sweet-or according to the label, “not sweet.” - Noah Westfield
Noah is a fancy, big town architect and Poppy is a sweet, small town baker brought together by 🧁. This was a very fun novella brought to us by none other than Luna Rose (Honey Mavryck). No spice, just good old fashioned g rated romance.
I loved the characters-especially Granny Maple! I thought Noah was incredibly kind and misunderstood rather than grumpy, and Poppy was the sunshine I wish I could channel.
I am interested to read more from this endearing series!
If you want a short, sweet, small town book, this should do.
As long as you do a better job than I did of ignoring the logistics of why the architect firm cares so much about how the town square gets remodeled. The firm gets paid no matter what, they wouldn’t be the ones owning the buildings they want mega corporations to lease. It made no sense to me. I can’t bump it down a star because of that, but it was a distraction.
It’s the clash of the two worlds the city corporate world or the quaint small town living! Poppy trying to save her small town bakery while Noah has come in and wants to demolish it! Do Poppy has to show him it’s worth saving! This is a cute short length, cozy, small town heartwarming story that’s worth the read!
This is a sweet, cute enjoyable small town romance. It delivers just the right amount of romance between Poppy, the baker and Noah, the Architect. Even though you don’t find spice in this book it still gets your attention till the end
Sweet, small town romance between the baker/ cake shop owner and the grumpy architect that is tasked with modernising the town . He falls under not only her spell but that of the town and townsfolk, it’s a bit a bit like hotel California … you can never leave
Some things a man takes to his grave, and muffin-related weakness is definitely one of them.

After my last couple of dark reads, this adorably sweet novella is exactly what I needed. From the mind of Honey Mavryck's alter ego Luna Rose, we have this #nospice gem. While there are only sweet kisses, towards the end, I did not miss having any spice. Even if you're used to spice, give this a try. You can, and will, still find spicy reads from this author to check out as well.
Small town baker, Poppy, doesn't know what to think of big city architect, Noah, upon their first meeting. The only thing she can tell is that he NEEDS something sweet despite saying he doesn't want it. This is the beginning of her adding an "extra muffin" to his orders and experimenting on ways to alter his favorite treat - blueberry muffins.
Noah has been tasked with convincing this small town to basically modernize and get rid of anything that makes them stand apart, but how can he not fall in love with the history and beauty around him?
