The protagonist, Mark Turner, is a very resourceful individual, but he has never been a prepper. When an EMP attack across most of America puts the "Lights Out" completely, he has to make a major shift in the way he and his family live. The book begins right away with the EMP, and follows Mark, his family, and his friends through the tough process of survival.
This was an interesting take on a post-emp survival novel. I liked the fact it took place in Texas so heat rather than cold was an issue, but I felt it glossed over a few too many potential issues. Loved the post-script but would have like just a bit more of the author's vision.
Fantastic free eBook about what life might be like if the United States lost electric power and all electronic devices (due to EMF) for years.
The characters are so well-developed you can't help but love and empathize with them. The plot is fascinating and makes you not want to put the book down. It's over 600 pages and I read it in 2 days!
There are some typos and grammatical errors, but all very minor. I loved the book and highly recommend it.
This book was amazing! It is only available on the internet but it was the best book I have read so far. I think if he decides to make it into an actual book, I will buy it just to give him some money! The ending was not disappointing AT ALL!
Read it when it first came out: I don't think the average American knows what an EMP attack is (a "bomb" that destroys nothing but infrastructure, electricity, communications, etc.). Pretty realistic stuff to me set in the San Antonio and South Texas areas. Enjoyed it!
