Sirens & Stilettos

Love hurts, even when the pain isn't intentional.

Bunny Jones has a secret life…

By day, she’s an investigative assistant who blends into the background. By night, she’s the Shadow Siren—a ruthless vigilante delivering brutal justice to men who hurt women.

The only person she can’t seem to hide from is the detective who knows her better than anyone, because he’s already helped her cover up a murder—her husband’s.

Hunter Remington has always wanted all of Bunny—her heart, her trust, her darkness. But after surviving an abusive marriage, she’s hesitant to open herself up to love again.

When a reckless night leads to an unplanned pregnancy, Bunny must choose between the violent life that gives her power and the man who sees every broken part of her—and still wants more.

As anonymous threats surface and old enemies rise from the dead, Bunny is forced to confront the truth: Hunter’s obsession might be the only thing keeping her alive.

Obsession cuts both ways, though, and when her secret identity is exposed, love might not be enough to save her.

bunny? no notes. ATE. she's just such a badass serial killer. her trauma made me cry my little heart out for her. i loved seeing her journey of accepting that there's good in life even though when all you've known is bad.

this mean YEARNS. he's down bad gone for bunny. he's the most patient ever, waiting for bunny to realise that she deserves love.

I tell you what I know for sure.. Bunny is THE. FUCKING. WORST. I spent 90% of this book hatinnnng her 😒 she kind of redeemed herself in the last 10% but not enough for this to score above 3 stars. It's your fault this is only 3 stars Bunny 🫵🏼 because if this was only about Hunter is would be 6 stars all the way. Hunter is another Noah Riley (iykyk).. he is literally the most sweet, endearing, thoughtful, considerate guy, and Bunny just fucking tramples all over his poor heart 😡 he deserved sooo much better, and yeah he eventually gets that, but not soon enough. It feels like this series revolves around Hunter and Bunny's love story, and even the gore and murder took a heavy backseat in this book. I will say I'm not usually a fan of time jumps, but they were done really well here. And things have been nicely set up for what I assume will be the next book with Vixey too, however I'm feeling confused about who the mmc is going to be for her..

I'm sad to say that Bunny simply ruined this for me. I hate her. She's a bitch and not even really a good person. This was so close to being 2 stars, but she's lucky Hunter was there for the rescue..

4.5.

I don’t think I have truly ever related more to a character than Bunny, if I could wish for any book character to be real it would be Bunny Jones. And I guess Hunter can come along, talk about obsessed. He is the definition of patience he waited and waited until Bunny was ready to love him. Good thing he did, I love them together despite the will they won’t they.

Also, murdering an abuser while pregnant. Women can really do it all. 💜🖤🔪

Why was this such a disappointment after the first book..

And why do authors still use the word fuck when they describe a rape scene..?! Use the right word! Fuck is with consent, rape is without it and this was rape.

Sirens & Stilettos by D.L. Darby the second book in the Serial Killer Book Club was everything I needed. If you have not read book one and don’t want spoilers you should read in order. Darby did such a great job weaving all the characters and time lines. This runs kinda parallel with Dolls & Daggers. This is set three years after these two meet so I also enjoyed the chapters that give us more details into their past.

Bunny Jones and Hunter Remington really give the title complicated new meaning. These two were so good together and the love they had it was just all the other things that seemed to be in the way. I have been A Jackson fan out of all of Darby’s MMC’s but Hunter has landed right there with him. His consistent and unwavering love for Bunny was beautiful. His sense of humor, loyalty the stalking for protection and give me the slutty glass and curly hair, YES! How many times did I sigh for Hunter? I dont know it was a lot! This man checked all the boxes.

Sometimes I really wanted to smack Bunny but also hug her because we all deal with our pain and fear in different ways. I really felt she was the grumpy one in this relationship. I love the relationship between the girls.

—“𝘐 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘰𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶, 𝘉𝘶𝘯𝘯𝘺. 𝘕𝘰𝘵 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶.”—

We had already meet Vixey previously but we get so much more here. We are also introduced to Todd. It just makes me so much more excited for the next book.

—“𝘉𝘶𝘯𝘯𝘺’𝘴 𝘢 𝘨𝘳𝘶𝘥𝘨𝘦-𝘩𝘰𝘭𝘥𝘦𝘳. 𝘋𝘰𝘯’𝘵 𝘭𝘦𝘵 𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘴𝘦𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘤𝘳𝘺. 𝘚𝘩𝘦 𝘩𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘴 𝘸𝘦𝘢𝘬𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘴𝘮𝘦𝘭𝘭 𝘧𝘦𝘢𝘳 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘢 𝘮𝘪𝘭𝘦 𝘢𝘸𝘢𝘺.”—

Amazing book highly recommend this series if you enjoyed the vibes of midf*ck, she is the killer and he is in law enforcement. Now I can’t wait for the reread audiobook releasing soon too.

After reading Dolls & Daggers, I was extremely excited for this book to the point where I screamed when I saw it was being released.

Bunny is a domestic abuse survivor and she carries that trauma with her throughout the series to the point of constantly hurting Hunter, the man who is completely and irrevocably in love with her. There are times of frustration where Bunny keeps him at an arm’s length, not wanting to get too close.

But we have to remember, she’s a survivor of severe abuse to the point where she was forced to kill her husband, Nathaniel, who was the first of her kills. So of course she would protect herself too much to the point of hurting Hunter.

Reading how their relationship slowly changed to how it ended was beautiful as we see Bunny begin to trust again, especially in the right man. I loved reading her thoughts and how hard it was for her to trust and be open to the idea of being in a relationship three years after her husband’s death.

The playlist provides perfect songs for the book. And Gravity by Sleep Theory? 100% Hunter and Bunny’s song.

Overall, I love this author and this series. And this book did not disappoint at all.

OMG!! Sirens and Stilettos is a friends to lovers and workplace romance with serial killers. This is Bunny and Hunter’s story filled with intense tension, unexpected baby, and touch her and ☠️ vibes. I love the way they tease each other and how quickly they are there for each other. Their chemistry is off the charts and will have you swooning with Hunters protectiveness. I love how the story takes you in different timeliness in their lives and how things turned out for them. I also like the twist at the end, which made me root for bunny and her friends. I really enjoyed their story and can’t wait to read more.

I voluntarily leave an honest review of this gifted advance reader copy.

This was the second book in the series, and I honestly love this series so much! I was beyond excited for Bunny’s story, and it definitely did not disappoint.

I absolutely adore the ladies of the Serial Killers Book Club. The flashbacks added so much depth and made me like Bunny even more than I already did. And Hunter? He was truly the best.

The plot twists were absolutely amazing and kept me hooked from start to finish. I wanted to read all day and forget about all my responsibilities, I genuinely couldn’t put this book down.

I can’t wait for Vixey’s book!

I ate this up! I loved the first book so I just knew the second one would not disappoint!

I am so glad we finally get Bunny’s story! She has been thru so much, and she is so strong. That doesn’t mean she doesn’t need help, even tho she’s a serial killer.

Hunter knew from the first time he saw her, she was meant to be his. Just Bunny is a wee bit stubborn and doesn’t know if anyone could really love her.

I loved getting to know more about these two. Their story is so cute and beautiful. Plus the banter was top notch!

Another Banger! I was absolutely hooked from the beginning. I loved how we were taken back in time to learn more about their journey. The way she tied in book One was perfect, being an interconnected series on the same time line, Darby weaves them together seamlessly.

I have so many quotes highlighted thay it would be impossible to list them all. One i will highlight is "you spicy chicken nugget" because I laughed so much when I got to that part.

The push and pull between our 2 MCs will have you wanted to shake and choke them as well as melt. I cant recommend this series more!

I have been waiting for this book to be released since I finished Dolls and Daggers last year. I’m so grateful that I received an arc because I could not wait any longer for Bunny and Hunter’s story. I was so excited going in, and it absolutely did not disappoint. One of my favorite things about this series is the banter.. and D.L Darby came through with it again in this book! 👩‍🍳 💋 It makes the characters feel so much more real.

I loved the chemistry between Bunny and Hunter and how daddy Hunter 😉 was soooo touch her and die 🤬🔪 D.L Darby does such a good job at creating MMCs that I wish I could rip straight out of the pages ☠️

I will always show up for a female serial killer trope. ALWAYS. I am so happy that we’re finally getting more options. This series has become one of my favorites without a doubt and I am so excited for book three 💜

"𝘐 𝘥𝘰𝘯'𝘵 𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘥 𝘺𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘐 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭. 𝘐 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘮𝘺 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸𝘴 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘴. 𝘐𝘵 𝘴𝘬𝘪𝘱𝘴 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘸𝘢𝘭𝘬 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘰 𝘢 𝘳𝘰𝘰𝘮. 𝘐 𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘬 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘐 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘺𝘰𝘶'𝘳𝘦 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦."

Let me start my review by telling you that I was lucky enough to receive an early arc for this book by the author and I am so happy. I devoured the first book; Dolls and Daggers. I finished this read in less than 24 hours. This book had me crashing so hard. I don’t think I’ve ever felt more bipolar while reading a book. I was 40% angry, 10% cursing, 30% fangirling, and 20% crying and honestly, that math feels generous. I’m extremely conflicted about my rating, because this could have easily been a 5/5 for me but I am conflicted between giving it a 3,5 or an 4.

"𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘐 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘺𝘰𝘶... 𝘪𝘵'𝘴 𝘵𝘰𝘰 𝘮𝘶𝘤𝘩. 𝘐𝘵'𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘵𝘺𝘱𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘢𝘭𝘭-𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘶𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘨, 𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘩-𝘴𝘩𝘢𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨, 𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦-𝘢𝘭𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘯𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮. 𝘈𝘯𝘥 𝘪𝘵 𝘴𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘵 𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘮𝘦. 𝘐𝘵 𝘨𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘴 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘵𝘰𝘰 𝘮𝘶𝘤𝘩 𝘱𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳 𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘮𝘦, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘐 𝘥𝘰𝘯'𝘵 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘪𝘧 𝘐 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘥𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘢𝘨𝘢𝘪𝘯 - 𝘨𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘮𝘺𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧 𝘵𝘰 𝘢 𝘮𝘢𝘯 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘩𝘢𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘥 𝘰𝘧 𝘩𝘰𝘭𝘥 𝘰𝘯 𝘮𝘦. 𝘐 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘺𝘰𝘶'𝘳𝘦 𝘨𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘬 𝘮𝘦."

First things first: Dove and Wren are definitely included in this book, which I appreciated. We also get dual POVs (Hunter and Bunny's), and several new characters are introduced; three of them feel like they’re being set up for book three. I love the cover, and I already know I need the paperback on my shelf. I also think I might even love Bunny more than I loved Dove and that is saying something. Bunny’s flaws and emotional depth completely stole my heart. I loved how afraid she is to open up, to let Hunter truly see her, terrified that once he looks beneath the mask, he’ll break her. I also loved that Hunter mirrors her fear of abandonment, and that he loved her from the very beginning (what do you mean he practically magic-ed her??). That part had me feral.

"𝘐𝘵'𝘴 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘴𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘴 𝘮𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘨𝘰 𝘤𝘢𝘷𝘦𝘮𝘢𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘤𝘭𝘢𝘪𝘮 𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘪𝘯 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘯𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘦. 𝘐'𝘥 𝘨𝘭𝘢𝘥𝘭𝘺 𝘥𝘰 𝘪𝘵 - 𝘦𝘹𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘵 𝘴𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘰𝘯'𝘵 𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘐 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘮𝘰𝘴𝘵: 𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘵."

I was slightly confused about why book two starts midway through the first book. That could have easily been handled as a brief mention instead. Ignoring that, I still felt like this story was missing something that the first book had. Maybe it’s because in book one, we learn early on why Wren is the way he is, which really helps build his character. With Hunter, the major revelations come at the end. I think it would’ve worked better if those twists were revealed earlier or midway through, to deepen his storyline. Instead, we got multiple twists back-to-back at the end, one issue resolved, then a few pages later, another twist drops which felt overwhelming rather than impactful.

"𝘈𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘦 𝘴𝘱𝘪𝘬𝘦𝘴 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘢 𝘣𝘢𝘥 𝘥𝘳𝘶𝘨, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘐 𝘵𝘳𝘺 𝘵𝘰 𝘬𝘦𝘦𝘱 𝘮𝘺 𝘧𝘦𝘢𝘳 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘸𝘪𝘯𝘨. 𝘔𝘺 𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘥𝘪𝘨 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘰 𝘮𝘺 𝘢𝘳𝘮𝘴, 𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘦 𝘴𝘰 𝘐 𝘥𝘰𝘯'𝘵 𝘴𝘱𝘪𝘳𝘢𝘭 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘥𝘢𝘳𝘬 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘏𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘥𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘴 𝘩𝘦'𝘴 𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘴𝘩𝘦𝘥 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘮𝘦."

𝑻𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒔 𝑰 𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆𝒅:
• The unexpected pregnancy trope is one I usually stay far away from because I truly don’t like it. It often leaves me questioning the relationship like, is a baby really the only reason two people are together? Where is the love in that? But D.L. Darby might be the only author so far who has made this trope readable for me. In Hunter and Bunny’s case, the baby wasn’t the reason they ended up together. It felt more like a glue, something that forced them to confront their traumas and move forward instead of staying stuck in them. And that made all the difference.
• I love Bunny. I honestly feel like she’s even stronger than Dove. After everything she went through, she still cares deeply even if she can’t always show it in the way people expect or want her to. Coming out of trauma like that can either break someone or build them, and for Bunny, it did both. That duality is what made her feel so real to me. There were chapters that genuinely broke my heart, especially the moments where she was left hanging by the very people she loved. All she wanted was for them to understand her without her having to say it out loud. And I get that so much. Sometimes you’re so afraid to voice what you need or want that you shut down completely, convincing yourself that silence is safer than exposing your weaknesses or flaws. Bunny living in that space felt painfully authentic.
• I also loved the movie and song references throughout the book; I definitely need to rewatch some of them now. I laughed at the jokes, loved the banter between Hunter and Bunny (and Hunter and Wren), and completely obsessed over Hunter’s obsession with Bunny. I mean… he practically magic-ed her and I am still fangirling over that.
• I had one dislike (I think) for the first book; Wren not having any hobbies (him not having a life of his own), in this book Hunter had his own life and family/friends. He had, besides Bunny, his own world and I enjoyed that because it made the character so much more realistic.

𝑻𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒔 𝑰 𝒅𝒊𝒔𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆𝒅:
• This book made me dislike Dove, and that is a huge thing for me. Dove was so smart and sharp in the first book, and that intelligence felt completely missing here. It rubbed me the wrong way. I also hated that she seemed to have no time for Bunny, yet allowed another girl to enter what was supposed to be their two-girl dynamic. I just can’t reconcile this version of Dove with the Dove from book one, it didn’t feel like her.
• I have a serious love/hate relationship with Hunter. I loved him at the beginning of the book, but by the end? I was furious. I can understand being hurt by being brushed aside, but it’s not like Bunny shows no feelings toward him and he knows that. What do you mean he leaves her right after a HUGE EVENT while knowing she’s being stalked? What do you mean he lets another girl wear his shirt? What do you mean he can tell everyone else how he feels but can’t tell Bunny, the one person who actually matters? He had me so upset that I was genuinely ready to throw the book at the wall (didn’t, because it was late, everyone was asleep, and the book was my phone).
• And lastly… I DISLIKE Vixey. Sorry, not sorry. She made me angry basically every single time she was on the page. I didn’t trust her, I didn’t like her, and she felt incredibly intrusive and forced. I hated the way she tried to wedge herself between Dove and Bunny. I hated her flirting with Hunter. I hated that she was wearing nothing but Hunter’s shirt in his freaking apartment just because she “had no one else to turn to.” Who wears the shirt of someone you claim to see as a brother and nothing else underneath it?

I just finished Sirens & Stilettos by D.L. Darby, the second book in the Serial Killer Book Club trilogy, and I fell in love with HUNTER. Waiting for 2 YEARS?! OMG the way he is SO OBSESSED with her. I want a man like this!

HUNTER REMINGTON. This detective has been pining for Bunny for TWO YEARS. Two years of watching her heal from her abusive marriage, two years of respecting her boundaries while being completely gone for her, two years of WAITING because he knows she’s worth it. Hunter Remington has always wanted all of Bunny. Her heart, her trust, her darkness. Not just pieces of her, not just the parts she’s willing to give. He wants ALL of her, including the Shadow Siren vigilante serial killer side. The devotion, the patience, the way he sees her COMPLETELY and loves every broken, dark, violent piece of her? PERFECTION.

BUNNY JONES. By day, she’s an investigative assistant who blends into the background. By night, she’s the Shadow Siren. A ruthless vigilante delivering brutal justice to men who hurt women. After surviving an abusive marriage, she’s closed off, hesitant to trust, and absolutely NOT ready for love. And Hunter? He’s already helped her cover up a murder, her husband’s. So he KNOWS her darkest secrets and loves her anyway.

I LOVED the praise and degradation kink in this book! When Hunter praises Bunny and tells her she’s being so good? When he gets filthy and degrades her during intimate moments? The contrast between the two is DELICIOUS and perfectly executed. The way he worships her and then gets rough and possessive. It’s everything I want in a dark romance MMC.

The only thing I HATED is the fact that they both were flirting, going on dates, being touchy-touchy with OTHER PEOPLE to make one another jealous or give in. That drove me CRAZY. I understand why it happens narratively. She’s trying to push each other away and he’s trying to make her jealous, trying to deny their feelings. But watching them with other people when you KNOW they belong together was frustrating. I just wanted them to stop being stubborn and admit they’re completely gone for each other!

But OMG this book made me CRY so much. My poor HUNTER. The emotional depth in this story absolutely destroyed me. After surviving an abusive marriage, she’s hesitant to open herself up to love again , and watching Bunny struggle to trust Hunter even though he’s proven himself over and over broke my heart. And Hunter? This man has been waiting TWO YEARS, loving her from afar, respecting her space, being there for her without pushing and she keeps pushing him away. The PAIN he carries, the longing, the way he’s terrified of losing her but also terrified of pushing too hard. I was SOBBING.

When a reckless night leads to an unplanned pregnancy, Bunny must choose between the violent life that gives her power and the man who sees every broken part of her and still wants more. The pregnancy plot added such an emotional layer I wasn’t expecting. Watching Bunny navigate becoming a mother while being a vigilante serial killer, while dealing with her trauma, while trying to decide if she can let Hunter in? The internal conflict was INTENSE and had me crying multiple times.

The stakes get SO high. As anonymous threats surface and old enemies rise from the dead, Bunny is forced to confront the truth: Hunter’s obsession might be the only thing keeping her alive. There’s real danger, real suspense, and moments where I was genuinely terrified for both of them.

Hunter doesn’t try to change Bunny or stop her vigilante activities. He accepts her darkness, her violence, her need for vengeance and he loves her MORE for it. The way he supports her while also being terrified of losing her? The protectiveness mixed with respect for her autonomy? PERFECTION. He’s not trying to save her or fix her, he just wants to be HERS.

The emotional depth surprised me. Yes, there’s dark humor and serial killer shenanigans like in book one, but this book goes DEEPER. This is about healing from abuse, learning to trust again, choosing love even when you’re terrified, and letting someone see ALL of you even the parts you’re ashamed of. Bunny’s journey from broken abuse survivor to powerful vigilante to woman learning to be vulnerable again was beautifully done, but it HURT to read.

The chemistry between Hunter and Bunny is EXPLOSIVE. Two years of tension finally gets released and it’s SO worth the wait. The spice is good and the intimate scenes are both hot and emotional.

The found family with Dove and Wren from book one continues to be amazing. Seeing all these characters support each other made my heart full.

Fair warning: this book deals with domestic violence, past abuse, pregnancy, graphic violence, and some heavy emotional themes. Check those trigger warnings!

5 out of 5 stars despite the frustration with the jealousy subplot. Hunter waiting TWO YEARS, the way he’s obsessed with Bunny in the healthiest way possible, the praise AND degradation kink, the emotional depth all of it is INCREDIBLE. But also be prepared to CRY because this book is EMOTIONAL.

Hunter Remington, you patient, obsessed, devoted man. You are EVERYTHING. My poor hunter suffered so much and I just wanted to hug him. The way he loves Bunny through all her walls and trauma is beautiful and heartbreaking.

If you love obsessed MMCs who wait years for their woman, vigilante FMCs, detectives who enable their woman’s murder habits, praise AND degradation kinks, pregnancy plots in dark romance, healing from abuse, and books that will make you CRY. READ THIS.

I want a man like Hunter who will wait for me, accept all my darkness, and love me completely. This book destroyed me emotionally and I loved every tear-filled second of it!

Quotes I fell in love with:

“Bunny and her Hunter. The devil and her devoted demon.”

“She is the most breathtaking thing I’ve ever seen.”

“Beauty like hers is deadly to men like me.”

“But something tells me if I see this goddess outside of this club, she’ll be the only diving thing I ever worship.”

“And if you let me, I’d like to worship you on my knees.”

“You men should really stop pissing off women We are way more creative with revenge, you know.”

“Listen to me, Little Rabbit. I have no idea what you’re talking about. But your sass is lighting a fire in my cock that only your pussy can put out. So if you’re done accusing me of bullshit that never happened, admit you’re mine already so I can take you home and fuck you in the most disrespectful way imaginable.”

“Tell me you’re mine. You have been in nearly every way imaginable–except the way that counts. Give me your consent, Bunny.”

“One day you’ll give it to me. Until then, I can wait.”

“I want all of you, Bunny. Not just part of you.”

“Surrender your heart to me and I will fuck my soul into yours.”

“Because I will kill them. I will obliterate anyone who dares put their hands on you.”

“What can I say? I am protective of the things I consider mine.”

“You’re mine, Little Rabbit. Do you feel that that’s me marking you as mine.”

“I’m right here, baby. I’ve always been right here. I’m not going anywhere.”

“Always, Little Rabbit. I’ll always catch you when you fall. I promise.”

“Where did you get sushi from? Remind me never to eat there if it makes you cry.”

“I can’t always be with her, and I have to keep her safe. That’s always been my number one priority.”

“I want to claim her. Thoroughly wreck her and make her mine.”

“I don’t tell her she never has to ask. I will follow her anywhere– as many times as she wants me to.”

“You seem like you’re finally ready to give this a chance, but I want you to know what that means, Little Rabbit. You can’t run away again. I won’t survive a second time.”

“And you’re my girl carrying my child.”

“If you think I’m going to let anything happen to you, you’re dead wrong, Little Rabbit. Anyone who tries to hurt you or our baby will find themselves in a world of pain, because I don’t take kindly to others threatening my family. And that’s what you are, Bunny. My family. If anyone tries to take you from me, I ripped them apart with my bare hands.”

“I hate it when you cry. I hate it more when I’m the cause of your tears. It breaks something inside me every time.”

“Do not ever—and I mean ever–pull that shit again while they’re in the car. I’d you want to put your princess in danger, be my guest, but I will fucking kill you id you hard my queen or my child. Do you understand, Wrenley?”

“I knew I loved you long before I met you, Little Rabbit. You’ve been my dream for a long, long time.”

“You branded me the day we met. Seared yourself into my skin, my brain, my bones.”

“You made a mistake thinking you could have my girl.”

“I wanted because you’re worth waiting for, Bunny. I had little to no experience dating or loving anyone when we met, but I knew what we had–what we have–is once in a lifetime. It was instant for me, Little Rabbit. The second you climbed on that stage, you stole my heart, and you’ve had it ever since. Every piece of me belongs to you. You know that.”

“I want her to know that kind of love exists and it’s worth fighting for. Even when the other person hasn’t figured it out yet. Even when they fight against it. You don’t give up when it’s hard.”

“You belong to me, Little Rabbit, and I’m going to make sure you never fucking forget it.”

ARC review:
When I read last year the snippet bonus of Hunter and Bunny I KNEW I would love them, and I was right.

Bunny is a strong woman that has been through a lot, a husband that was cruel, violent, hypocrite and a cheater, and a sad past without family or friends to rely on.
So she was used to being alone, isolated by her husband who didn’t want her to even work, she created a fort for her heart and survived the monster, though in the aftermath, she had developed a wall around her heart and wasn’t ready to share it again.

Some years passed, and she was content as life was, having the ins and outs with Hunter, having Dove all to herself, and moving on from the *tragic* coff coff death of her violent husband (that she killed and then, the Shadow Siren was born).
Until one day Hunter decides that he will stop pursuing her, that he will stop interrupting her dates, and that he’ll show her how good they were together and that’s it. Finished.
And that’s when everything started to change for Bunny, and I loved how well she did, because all the drama, emotional crisis, and the creepy stalker, were a lot to take.

As a fellow otaku, I really appreciate how she doesn’t hide her love for anime, and her obsession with Inuyasha is everything.
I loved how their relationship with Vixey is developing, that girl wanted to be part of the gang SO BAD, I’m so happy for her, for the brief snippets we got, I know she needs them as friends, and I can’t wait to read Vixey’s book!

I also loved Dove and Wren’s scenes , I love them as a couple, and every time they showed up it made me happy. I was giggling to myself.

But most of all I love how Bunny learnt that she deserves love, but also, to not take for granted Hunter’s feelings.

The comedy is top tier, the reading club scenes were hilarious, the cowboy romance snippet ? I need to know if there is a book, because DAMN. I want a book club like theirs , without the cereal killer part though 🫣.
The whole gender reveal scene was amazing, and the banter they had? How possessive they’re for each other? The mama bear mode? The unhinged Hunter? I wasn’t ready for HIM. It was incredible, I couldn’t stop reading.
I felt like I was living those experiences with a friend, and though some times I wanted to bring Bunny to her senses, I also wanted to hug her and tell her everything would be alright.

4.5 out of 5 stars

I am officially writing this review in a state of emotional whiplash because Sirens & Stilettos was everything I didn't know I needed! D.L. Darby did an incredible job weaving the timelines together—this book runs parallel to Dolls & Daggers, so seeing those familiar events from Bunny and Hunter’s perspective made the world feel so much deeper and more intentional. Bunny and Hunter give the word "complicated" a whole new meaning; their three-year history is messy, intense, and emotionally charged in a way that just shreds your heart. Hunter Remington unwavering, consistent love for Bunny, I was sighing every other page! He’s the perfect foil to Bunny’s grumpy, guarded nature, and even though I wanted to smack her at times for being so frustrating, I mostly just wanted to hug her for the pain she carries.

The banter in this book is elite—I’m still cackling over the "spicy chicken nugget" line—but it also packs a massive emotional punch that I wasn't fully prepared for. The "recipe list" scene nearly brought me to tears, and seeing that infamous bathroom scene from Bunny’s POV was absolutely gut-wrenching. I loved the cameos from the Angels of Désirer series, and even though the push-and-pull between our MCs had me wanting to shake them, the tension was explosive. Hunter’s obsession with Bunny is just... chef's kiss. He practically is obsessed with her from the start, and I am still 100% fangirling over how he combats her indifference with humor and loyalty.

However, there are parts that had me ready to throw my phone at the wall! there was moments where I got very frustrated with Hunter towards the end (no spoilers lol) And don't even get me started on Vixey. She felt so intrusive. I also missed the sharp, intelligent version of Dove from book one; she felt like a different person here and didn't seem to have any time for Bunny, which really rubbed me the wrong way. The ending felt a little rushed with too many back-to-back twists that I wish had been spread out more to give Hunter’s background some room to breathe. But even with those frustrations, I devoured this in less than 24 hours. It’s dark, spicy, and addicting, and I’m already spiraling over what’s coming next!

Some sequels maintain momentum. This one escalates it.💜
Sirens & Stilettos by D.L. Darby deepens everything that made the first book compelling and then adds sharper edges. If you’re new to the series, start with book one because this installment builds directly from that foundation. The dual timelines and layered character arcs create a story that feels intentional rather than dramatic for the sake of it.💜🖤
Bunny and Hunter are not simple characters, and their relationship isn’t meant to be easy. It’s messy, emotionally charged, and complicated in ways that feel earned. Hunter surprised me the most. His loyalty is steady, his protectiveness borders on obsessive in a way that fits the tone of the series, and beneath the control there’s genuine devotion. He isn’t loud about his love, but it’s constant.
Bunny is harder to read, and that’s what makes her interesting. She carries her trauma differently, sometimes pushing instead of pulling, sometimes guarding instead of giving. There were moments I felt frustrated with her, but never disconnected. She feels real, flawed, and layered.🩶
The supporting characters add dimension without taking over. Getting more of Vixey and being introduced to Todd sets up future tension that I’m already curious about.💜
If you gravitate toward morally grey romance, high-stakes dynamics, workplace proximity, second chances, and a serial killer FMC paired with the detective unknowingly circling her, this series delivers exactly what it promises.
This installment didn’t just continue the story. It made me more invested in what’s coming next.🖤

Sirens & Stilettos by D.L. Darby is everything I didn't know I wanted. D.L. Darby did a great job intertwining the characters and time lines as the events of this book runs parallel to Dolls & Daggers that doesn't take away from book one.

Bunny Jones and Hunter Remington have known each other for years and to call their relationship complicated would be putting it lightly. They were so good together and you can just tell that the tension would explode with intensity. Parts of S&S puts the reader into the past to establish their three-year relationship before the events of this novel and this built more investment in our explosive couple.

Hunter's consistency and unwavering love for Bunny was beautiful to watch, seeing how loyal he was to her and combating her indifference with humor. Hunter also has many layers to his character that you want the best for him. I was cheering for him and Bunny to work out during the whole novel. Even though I understood her reasoning, Bunny was so frustrating at times but I also wanted to hug her for the pain she had to endure. We all deal with our pain and fear in different ways and she handled her pain in the only way she knows how. It made me so happy that Bunny had Dove and Vixey (who I can't wait to see more of).

After reading about Hunter and Bunny during Dolls and Daggers, I just knew the banter between these two characters would be amazing. If you enjoy vibes of friends to lovers and she's the serial killer while he is the law enforcement, Sirens & Stilettos is a book that I would highly recommend!

This feels like D.L. Darby cracked her knuckles and said, “Let’s make this hurt.” then she did. I absolutely cannot say enough good things about this book. It broke my heart and healed me all at once.
We met Bunny and Hunter in Dolls & Daggers, where one night turned into something life changing. Hunter has always wanted her heart, but what do Bunnies do best? They run. Her past trauma kept her pushing him away, even from the love she secretly craved. The tension is scorching. Years of longing, hurt, and suppressed love bleed through every interaction. I didn’t just read it, I felt every moment.
Bunny is brilliant, fearless, and terrifying….. but her trauma is like a hurricane that follows her everywhere. It shapes every choice and every wall she builds around herself. Watching her navigate love, danger, and the complicated pull of Hunter while carrying his baby had me completely undone.
Hunter is intense, devoted, and endlessly protective. Bunny said, “independent queen,” and Hunter basically said, “I’m still not going anywhere.” The push-and-pull between them is electric. Every glance feels loaded. Every moment together had me holding my breath.
Dark, messy, emotional, and impossible to put down, this story grabs you by the throat and drags you along kicking and screaming. I devoured it, felt everything, and I am still thinking about Bunny and Hunter long after the last page.

Thank you, D.L. Darby, for allowing me to ARC read this. I loved it!

Sirens & Stilettos By D.L Darby ARC Review

I was really excited to get back into this world again I thought this threw me in and left me wanting more it was full of banter and I loved the tension that was going through my head while reading it was a 5 star read for me!

I loved Bunny in the first book but I was so glad to get the chance to read her book it was so much fun to read about her getting stronger and growing with Hunter by her side but mostly I enjoyed her sense of danger and how perfectly strong she was as well!

I was so glad to read about my favourite trope accidental pregnancy and with a sense of danger but also was so focused on Hunter’s protective and how he fell blindsided in love with her it was so freeing to read about them together.

I was really excited on reading about how their friendship turned into newfound lovers but I was into the plot and how their relationship was so beautifully written with the touch her and die trope that Hunter brings and turns into something else entirely.

I felt this book finished me entirely as D.L Darby did it again and I most certainly never stopped reading it was so engaging to read about them and left me wanting more from her and I am excited to see what’s coming next in this series as this is my new obsession and book recommendation for anyone who loves a strong connection with a wonderfully written main characters and loves the accidental pregnancy trope.

Sirens & Stilettos by D.L. Darby the second book in the Serial Killer Book Club was everything I needed. This book is unapologetically hot, wildly fun, and impossible to put down, I was absolutely hooked from the beginning. I couldn’t wait to Read Bunny’s story with Hunter! I loved how we we’re taken back in time to learn more about their journey. The way she tied in book one [Dolls & Daggers] was perfect, being an interconnected series on the same time line, Darby weaves them together seamlessly!

After reading about Hunter and Bunny during Dolls and Daggers, I just knew the banter between these two characters would be amazing. [You spicy chicken nugget]

We had already meet Vixey previously but we get so much more here. We are also introduced to Todd. It just makes me so much more excited for the next book.

If you enjoy vibes of friends to lovers and she's the serial killer while he is the law enforcement, Sirens & Stilettos is a book that I would highly recommend! If you enjoyed the vibes of midf*c series, you will eat this series up! Now I can’t wait for the reread audiobook releasing soon too.

I love these horrible serial unalivers so much! In Dolls & Daggers, we get Dove's story. In Siren's & Stilettos, we get Bunny's. And it does not disappoint. It gave off Mindf*ck by S.T. Abby vibes mixed with the comedy from Lights Out, with a dash of the Ruinous Love trilogy to top it off. Seriously, if you loved these three series, I definitely think you'd love the Serial Killer Book Club series.

Bunny's story follows an FMC who offed her abusive husband and refuses to let anyone get close to her. She arms herself with an attitude and quick wit that keeps people at bay. But not Hunter. Oh no. Hunter is an obsessed man. And eventually the hunter always gets its prey.

Can we also talk about Hunter's revelation of how/when he knew that it was always going to be Bunny? Because my gawwwwwd. Swoon. Loved it. Other random tidbit - I usually do not like time jumps in books. I am nosey and I want all of the things. This book has a time jump and honestly? It is so well written with the lead up that I truly did not mind "missing" a chunk of the couple's story.

If you like dark romance with maybe a little light stalking, a bit of female rage, a story involving accidental pregnancy, or just generally having a really good time with two and a half horrible serial unalivers...definitely pick this one up.

I. AM. OB. SESSED. I knew when we met Bunny and Hunter in Dolls and Daggers that I would be glued to my kindle the entire time, but I had no idea how captivating this story would be.

Bunny is confident in all things, except when it comes to Hunter. They've been dancing around each other for years, but never committed because she wants no strings and he wants all the things. This man has the patience of a dedicated saint having waited YEARS for her to trust him with her heart. Normally, I'd be over a "will they/won't they" in the first half of a book, but the way D.L. Darby constructed their story made it not only make sense, but flow beautifully. While I DISPISE a time jump, I get it...I'm mad, but I get it.

I could have read endlessly about these two, their growth, and their HEA. Let's also highlight that Bunny named her dogs after Inuyasha characters AND references Full Metal Panic (iykyk). Plus Hunter's Practical Magic recipe...I swoon.

Instantly bought both of these while the covers are cute and can't wait to read the hot mess express that is about to be Vixey, Todd, and Alex...why choose? We shall see!

Oh my goodness! This book is unapologetically hot, wildly fun, and impossible to put down. This book sizzles—the chemistry is off the charts—and I was hooked from the first page.

Bunny and Hunter absolutely stole my heart. Their banter is sharp, their connection is electric, and I laughed out loud more than once—especially at the bite (you’ll know when you get there 😏). It’s the perfect mix of sexy, playful, and just unhinged enough to keep things deliciously unpredictable.

The jerky making its way into the story was such a fun, grounding touch, and the chicken inspired by my friend Lauren and her furry farm made me grin like an idiot. Those little personal moments add so much charm and make the world feel lived-in and real—even when things are getting delightfully feral.

If you like your reads steamy, funny, and packed with characters you want to be friends with, this one is a must. D.L. Darby delivers heat, heart, and humor in heels—and I loved every second of it.

P.S. I still want to be friends with Dove and Bunny.
