Comeback Queen is a sweet small-town romance where you'll find second chances, professional collaboration, and one matchmaking golden retriever might just create the perfect formula for love.
Comeback Queen by Luna Rose is part of The Lucky Bench Collection and this addition is so sweet. I loved that in this addition we got to see that sometimes second chances do work, even when professional collaborations are involved, and it all starts with a matchmaking golden retriever, and that golden retriever might just create the perfect formula for love.
Bailey is the former homecoming queen now a marketing genius. Her carefully crafted career though has fallen apart and she suddenly finds that she is now unemployed and has returned to her hometown of Sweetsville, trying to hide what she believes is her shame,
Oliver is the former high school invisible nerd now turned into a handsome tech-savvy, confident, and successful business owner. Like Bailey, he's returned to their hometown of Sweetsville but his purpose was to start his own tech company.
One day, Bailey accidentally spills coffee on Oliver's expensive laptop. Bailey, in her embarrassment, offers to work for Oliver's company doing marketing to repay Oliver for ruining his expensive laptop. Oliver knows that Bailey needs this job more than she's willing to admit, even to herself, but he also knows that his company would benefit from Bailey's marketing expertise.
Oliver next to Bailey is so adorably awkward and sweet. And as the two work closely together you can see their growing attraction to one another. But, when an unexpected offer lands in Bailey's lap, one that could change the direction of her life and could change her relationship with Oliver for better or worse. She has to make a life-changing decision.
I will warn you to be ready for a lot of technical talk due to the type of business that Oliver is in and expect some marketing jargon from Bailey.
I loved this book just like I loved Extra Muffin and while there are only sweet kisses in this book I can honestly say that I didn't miss there being any hot spice. I just loved this book for the book itself. I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a sweet second-chance contemporary romance.
This is one of those classic stories about a woman who was the popular girl/Homecoming Queen and is having employment problems meets up a handsome successful man who was the nerd in high school that had a crush on her. But it has a bit of a twist to it which is nice and it is a clean romance book that you could actually see happening in real life. I have to say I have been to some high school reunions and there is some truth to it.
Bailey Parker might have been popular in high school and was still popular when she came home, but the problem is she had a secret. She was not as successful at her marketing career that she let everyone believe, including her family. Then one fateful day while at a local coffee shop/bakery, a dog bounces in, coffee is spilled all over an expensive laptop and the person who owns both is none other that Oliver Chen, a nerd in high school that she remembers from the debate team. He doesn’t look so nerdy anymore, he is hot! When she offers him some help in marketing for the new tech company coming to Sweetsville, Bailey doesn’t realize he doesn’t work for the company, he owns it!! As their relationship grows and Bailey helps Oliver give back to the community, she realizes maybe, just maybe small town life isn’t so bad. Now the question is will she give it up to chase after that dream drop in Chicago or will she move back home permanently.
Thanks to the author for an ARC in exchange for my honest opinion
Oliver is the adorably awkward nerd to Bailey's former homecoming queen. Both have returned to their hometown, for very different reasons, for the next steps of their professional lives. At first I thought she was going to be the popular mean girl, from high school, who bullied Oliver...but she was apparently sweet even then but just oblivious to most outside her direct orbit.
The meddling grandma and therapy dog are totally the stars of the show. Then again, grandma kept stealing the show in the first book as well.
Be prepared for lots of technical speak based upon his business and the marketing she does for him.
While there are only sweet kisses, towards the end, I did not miss having any spice...just as with Extra Muffin.
Former Homecoming queen returns to her old hometown, several failed jobs behind her, she spends her days in the local bakery pretending to work. Someone she doesn’t remember from school comes into the shop with his slight crazy dog.
They get talking, he offers her a job. The rest is a good story, they get to know each other, fall in love much to Grandma Maples pleasure
