“Avoid the Coming Anarchy” by former UK Parliamentarian David Howell (in a Thatcher gov’t). It is a very concentrated look at the UK and its challenges in climate, energy and economy. It presents a view we do not get here in Canada. Even watching the BBC here doesn’t give you this depth of a perspective.
Howell presents the idea of the 56 Member Commonwealth as a way for the UK to re-establish itself in the world and I agree with him. If Canada can learn about and from the challenges of others we should be reading these perspectives.
I wonder if Canada has ever thought about leveraging their membership in the Commonwealth for increased trade and economic growth to a greater degree than it does now?
Would a UK/Canada led stronger Commonwealth be a benefit?
