''An Arranged Marriage with a Mad Marquess'' is an enchanting Historical Regency romance, around 70,000 words and offering a captivating read.
No cheating, no cliffhangers, and a guaranteed happily-ever-after. If you love Regency and Victorian-era romance, this novel is for you.
Patrina was the eldest of three daughters, and all were concerned for their future. Papa was broke, the servants hadn’t been paid in months, and their only hope was to marry well. That didn’t seem a promising hope either, as there were no dowries and none of the three daughters were great beauties.
Neil Tidmore was a wealthy Marquess with a large parcel of land being farmed by his tenants, would be a good match. Sadly, his father died of some terrible disease that drove him mad, and Neil seemed to be following in his father’s footsteps.
Neil’s mother made arrangements for her son to meet the daughters of impoverished gentry, and it was decided that he would marry the eldest.
This was an excellent, well developed story with interesting characters, although I guessed the end early on the story. I liked it anyway, and that’s all I require to give it five stars.
Neil has been suffering and feels like his life is not long for him. His mother finds a woman for him to marry so there is an heir. Patrina is chosen to be his wife. Patrina tries to get to know Neil And the his cousins come to visit. She is not allowed to be near him She wants to change drs since she feels the dr that is treating Neil is wrong. Neil is getting worse. Patricia finds out Neil is being poisoned by his cousins and the drs. In the end Neil gets better Neil and Patricia have a son Arthur
From the beginning, her parents' inability to handle their finances, forcing a marriage with a dying man, the unwelcome self invitation of snarky, despicable relatives--during a honeymoon!--I wanted to bail.
Granted, it all turned out well in the end, but it was a looooong, painful trip to the happy ending.
On their honeymoon, get cryin' out loud. Mother, sister, bitchy aunt, and cousin who wanted to take everything--all running the show from the wedding day on. Ugh.
A clean and well written regency romance. The characters are certainly well defined and clearly make the story interesting. It was fairly easy to figure out the sickness that affected Neil Tidemore, the Duke of Morendale. Patrina Marshville agrees to marry the Duke of Morendale, who the rumors say is mad, due to her family's financial difficulties and her own lack of suitors. Her kindness wins the day!!
An arranged marriage is never a sure thing. What if he is cruel or mean? What if she is conniving or manipulative? It is especially a potential problem when the groom is sick and considered to be dying. Can a new bride find love and find a way to save her husband? Can she find a way to make him well? Read through this great story to find the answers.
This was a story that I figured out pretty quickly! But Patrina is married to a man to save her family from financial ruin, all she knows about him is what society says, he is the mad Marquesses, Neil needs to marry and have an heir before he dies, doesn’t want his arrogant cousin to inherit and ruin his estate. Very happy ending!
Lady Patrina receives an offer of marriage that she cannot refuse, but her new husband, Lord Neil, is very ill & his hope for an heir may not come to pass..but other relatives soon appear & it’s clear they are up to something-just what it is has to be figured out & very soon. And a good wife will do just that!
A lovely clean story filled with drama, intriguing events and more. The plot line is a bit over used in this genre which makes it a bit more predictable and a bit less interesting. The author does a nice job with the character development and moves the reader along at an even pace.
Neil was called the Mad marquees due to being drugged so he would die. He married so he would have a heir. The story was well written and very interesting.
Well developed and subtle characters! Very accurate historical presentation of the Regency period society. Social ranking clearly correct in addressing ranks of nobility. Delightful with spice of evil personalities 👏👏👏
