Late-night DJ Logan Hale has spent years spinning classic rock and oldies at WRUD, the same station his father adored when he was young. The music...the Stones, Zeppelin, and Fleetwood Mac...has always been more than just sound; it’s been a connection to his past, a rhythm that kept his life steady. But ever since his father’s passing, Logan has lost something. The music doesn’t feel the same. The requests have stopped. And time… time has moved on without him.
Then, on a stormy night in 1997, a call comes in. A voice from the past. A simple request that sends Logan spiraling into memories he thought he’d left behind. As the night unfolds, he’s forced to confront his grief, his regrets, and the song that meant everything.
A haunting, nostalgic tale of love, loss, and the power of music, The Request is a story that lingers like a melody you can’t forget.
Even though I knew where the story was going, I wanted to keep reading. It hits hard, maybe it's the topic, maybe it's the impact music has had on my life. Enjoyed this short story tremendously.
