Victoria Irene Pencheske is a faceblind, newly divorced, unemployed, failure. When everything she’s built is set aflame by a pair of assless chaps, Vip’s three overly pushy friends send her off to Los Angeles where she has no choice but to make a deal with the devil; become a celebrity plus one for people she can’t recognize and in exchange, her script will be optioned by one of the most notorious directors in Hollywood.

Roman Wheatley is a man of means and reputation. At least he was until a yacht crash, a broken engagement, and a year spent hiding from the limelight. To gain it all back he needs to give the studio one last money-making flick—no matter the cost to his ego... or his heart.

Together, all they need to do is stay out of the tabloids, finish a script, and not catch feelings. Easy right?

Samantha Jon is an unabashed Scorpio, lover of obscure poetry, and a passionate believer the world runs on love and heartbreak. She is an Adrienne Young Writing with the Soul round one alumna and Washington retreat attendee. She has taken several author workshops, including ones curated by Parker Peevyhouse, Lindsay Eagar, and Maggie Stiefvater.

Samantha brings a unique perspective to her storytelling through lyrical prose, dark humor, and the exceeding familiarity of heartbreak that comes from living a life full of love. She had published a number of poems throughout her life, written more shelved novels than years in the industry, and studied the art of writing for over 10 years.

In addition to writing, Samantha runs a business coaching and events service and an indie author networking group. Her expertise in business and her passion for the writing industry make her a valuable resource for aspiring writers.

When she's not writing or coaching she enjoys the fresh smell of ice before a hockey game, the silent hush after settling in for a movie, and traveling to cities where she can get lost in the crowd. She grew up in the beautiful PNW in a time before farmlands were cities, finding romance in the dreary sky and peace in the rain.

The romcom I’ve waited my whole life for. The accuracy of faceblindness makes this read so much fun for us diagnosed! I was so submerged into the world created by Vip and her friends, it was hard to finish and come out of it. Great humor! You definitely need this book at the top of your TBR list and read it immediately.

Ass-less chaps— check.
Accidental edibles— check.
Fantastic tension— yep.

FINALLY a romance that is a truly unique experience! This story is EXACTLY what the romance world needs. It’s laugh-out-loud funny, emotional in all the right places, and has the plot to keep the pages turning.

A really sweet story about second chances in life and love. This was such a lovely read that gave me everything, cringe worthy situations, laughs, butterflies and even some tears. I think also making the FMC Victoria faceblind was really interesting. It is not a well know condition that I definitely haven't seen in the books I've read before. But it added such an interesting perspective in trust especially and I really liked it and how well it was written. This was a binge worthy book and you should go grab a copy.

This was such a good book and I couldn’t read it fast enough. I’ve never read a book about a character that’s faceblind and I really liked the way the story played out. Both Victoria and Roman were cute together. The way he groveled at the end was top notch and made me fall in love with him even more. I also really liked how confident and fierce Victoria was and the way she carried herself regardless of the faceblindness. She knew what she wanted and she went after it. I can’t wait to read more stories by Sam Jon!

This is the perfect summer romance—charming, heartfelt, and full of slow-burn tension. After discovering her husband’s affair, Victoria decides to start over and chase her passion: selling the movie script she poured her heart into. She moves to Los Angeles ready to make her dream a reality—but living with face blindness complicates everything. Especially when she meets the same gorgeous man three times—on a plane, at a club, and at a studio meeting—without realizing it’s him each time.

That man is Roman, a director with a bad reputation and something to prove after a year-long hiatus. He’s bound by contract to direct Victoria’s screenplay, but their clashing personalities make for a rocky start. She’s a starry-eyed romantic; he’s a guarded realist. But as they work together, tension turns to chemistry, and a slow-burning romance begins to unfold.

Told in dual POV, this heartfelt romcom delivers all the best tropes: enemies to lovers, realist x romantic, faceblind FMC, “it’s always been you,” starting over, and found ambition. It’s the kind of story that feels like sunshine and second chances.

Another fantastic story from Samantha. This time we're in Hollywood with a faceblind screenwriter who falls for her director after a not so meet cute she doesn't even remember. The tension and banter were epic and I absolutely adored watching these two find their happy ever after.

The entire premise of being faceblind was fascinating and not something I'd really thought about before. I really enjoyed the way Samantha explored this aspect of Vip's life; she did a great job of helping me realize what life might be like for someone like Vip.

Like her previous work, this one is pretty wordy and written quite poetically. That's not my favorite style, but her stories are so great I can't help but come back for more.

I’m ready for the next chapter in their story—I absolutely devoured this book. Despite not having much time to read over the past couple of weeks, I found myself thinking about VIP Plus One throughout the day. I rooted for the characters, felt deeply for Victoria, and cheered for Roman. It’s an engaging, heartfelt, and uplifting read that truly stays with you. Five stars doesn’t seem like enough! Plus who doesn’t love a story that starts off with ass-less chaps?

VIP Plus One is a delightfully unique contemporary romance—which shouldn’t be a surprise because Samantha Jon has such a singular voice. I’d never heard of faceblindness before and reading about a protagonist with the condition was so fascinating! And this low spice book proves that you don’t need lots of heat to have lots of tension. I’ll read anything Samantha writes and can’t wait for her next one!
