Just became tedious. Perhaps I wasn't in the mood to read it.

I am intrigued by the near-death experience, and have struggled to make reconcile it with my scientific background and my deep skepticism of religious dogma, piety, and new age spiritualism. This book provides the best explanation I've come across. And Darling himself comes from a scientific background, and grounds his analysis there. This is a difficult book, and he doesn't telegraph his conclusions - I almost gave up halfway through the book because I didn't know where it was going. But the last few chapters really tied it together and were quite powerful.
