Without his balance, Vel is slipping further and further into darkness. Forced into servitude, Vel must do whatever he can to keep his wielder alive, even if it means losing pieces of himself.

I was so happy to receive an ARC of Requiem, and I'm so glad I didn't have to wait to read it.
Unsurprisingly, this book was extremely well written just like it's predecessor. Georgia May's talent with words is amazing and I cannot wait for the next book in the series—seriously, I need it NOW 🤣
This book was filled with pain and suffering but also with love and healing. It makes you feel the things the characters feel so, if you're a crier, be sure to keep some tissues close—you're going to need them!

I don't know how to begin to describe this.. My heart is broken.. Though I loved every minute of it!

Requiem is beautifully written. At times I wasn't able to breath. This story was filled with pain, suffering and sacrifice. But there is also so much love and caring, friendship, growth and healing. Packed with so much emotions you better be ready to cry! You will feel it all with the characters!

Only very few books can break me this profoundly. I need the next book and I need it now!

Man this was dark. I had a bit of trouble reading it without stopping because a lot of the book was them being tortured and captured. I still really enjoyed it but definitely read it when ya are in a good head space.

Ohhh, boy! I'm not ok after this one!
I gasped, I've cried, I've been so angry I wanted to get in the story to strangle some characters myself and also give some tight hugs of confort.
I can say that I felt so much in this book. So thank you! Thank you for making me feel so alive while reading this story! I've loved it!

My heart broke over and over again for Vel through out the book. He deserved to be worshiped, admired and loved. And for so long he was feared, and mistreated and hated. I kept wanting for the others thoughts to chance and for him to be accepted. He deserved that and so much more. He was not just a deamon. He was so much more! Just like Sypher and their vampire and human friends he felt it all, and loved fiercely. And he protected those he loved. Mainly Elda. We could see his passion and resolve when it came to her and feel how much he would do and to what lenghs he would go to keep her safe and happy.

"I will fight and die and bleed as many times as it takes to keep you safe. I will strip myself of everything that keeps me together, and I will drag the fractured pieces across this void-cursed wasteland to get you over that border."

Despite everything they went through, Elda was able to see what no other could and was the first to accept and love him for all he was.

“I want everything you have to give me,” she murmured. “Your rage, your pain, the blood you’ve shed, the lives you’ve taken. I see you at your core, and I want it all. I’m not afraid.”

Elda managed to grow as a person and evolve her powers. All those perils and suffering made her become more self assured, fierce and powerful. And together/bounded by love with both demon and angel was able to get some help and answers they desperatly needed.

I really loved and had missed Vel's and Sypher banter. They sounded like brother bickering with one another. And it was a nice chance to have their roles reversed and how they learned to value each other and how much they needed one another to be complete.
I also enjoyed the side characters once again. We grow to love them almost as much as the main ones and they are such an important part of this story. They really do complete it!
And, also.. those twists and some turn left me shattered. The one right before the end? Was it really needed? Come on!!! I'm sad about it. I really am! I sure wasn't expecting that!

And now? Now I'll be wondering what happens and how it will continue until book 3 arrives. Hopefully soon!!

“How could I reject the darkness that keeps me safe when nobody else can?” - Vel
Oh, my, gosh! This book is absolutely incredible. Gripping from start to finish!
Following on from the second Soul Forge: Book one of the Shadowed Crown series finishes and we pick up with Elda in a very bad spot. She's alone, a captive, and being put through horrible things.

I couldn't stop reading, I loved book one and had high hopes for this and those hopes were met. I loved diving back into Elda, Vel and Sypher story. Hoping that they will all make it to the end, only to find out that the series is not a duology! I now have to wait for book three to find out if they'll save their world.

Once again, the writing was spot on and Georgia's writing flowed seamlessly from page to page. igniting the reader's imagination and transporting them into the book.
The pacing was great, slightly slow in the beginning but once I got a few chapters in I was stuck and couldn't put the book down.
I found myself once again swooning over every character that came across the page, I don't understand how they are all so amazing.

I love Elda and would do anything to keep her safe. So it was hard to read and see her go through the pain and suffering she experiences. Especially in the first few chapters. And as someone who is pretty squeamish, it was a rough time.
Thankfully, once we got a good ten(ish) chapters in things eased up and I was ok.
I loved seeing her dive into relationships and friendships with different characters. I liked watching her step into her own and be the bigger person. Stepping up to take charge and lead her friends, and her people, even when everyone doubted her.

We got a lot more of Vel in this book, and I loved that. Getting to see inside his head, it gave light to some of the things we learnt/read in book one.
He's been through a lot and then got locked away for hundreds of years. He never had time to properly register the trauma he went through. He never got to grieve. So seeing Elda slowly grow close and become friends with Vel was wonderful.
I liked his relationship with Sypher in this book. We saw a lot of Sypher controlling Vel in book one so it was nice seeing him let Vel take charge and even help him from time to time. I hope we see more of them learning to coexist together.

I love their little team of, let's face it, crazy people. How they all band together to protect Elda and are willing to sacrifice themselves because they know she's one of the only truly good things left in their world.
As always, I loved all the monsters we saw. We got a lot more than we did in book one and I hope we get even more in book two.

Overall, I loved this book and can't wait for all the news on book three.

Requiem was an EASY five stars for me. Georgia May didn’t just raise the stakes from Soul Forge, she threw them into the freaking stratosphere!!
Darker and more intense? 100% Absolutely. Yes.
Impossible to put down? You bet! I hated having to put it down and go to sleep or to work, really just make myself be an adult in general lol.

Malakai… Don’t even get me started. 🙄
He somehow managed to be even more vile this time around. The things he made Vel see and do?! Abhorrent! Disgusting! I was ready to climb into the book myself and fight him myself! (Yes I know I’d be snapped like a twig likely before I even made it one step 😂) I was literally yelling at my Kindle for Vel to get it together and fight harder for Elda, just as much as I yelled for Elda to work faster to help Vel even though their circumstances wouldn’t really allow for it.
Seriously, f**k that rune and f**k Malakai.

But let’s talk about Vel and Elda, the absolute heart of this story. We get to see Elda’s power grow SO much throughout this book! And the true depth behind Vel’s power is intense! Their banter was sooooo, so good. I laughed out loud more than once and often found myself giggling and kicking my feet like a school girl. There was so much tension and build up and I LOVED every second of it! 😘 Not to mention the freaking soulbond?! I was sooo giddy when that came up because I’m a SUCKER for that trope 😂.
Their struggles in this book were absolutely gut-wrenching to witness, but the outcome definitely paid off.
And the heartbreak? Between believing Sypher to legitimately be gone and Yani… forget it… I’m still not okay and I don’t think anyone else is either.
This book was the perfect storm of humor, heartbreak, and also a beautiful journey of healing and self-acceptance.
Georgia PLEASE tell me you’re already working on book 3?! I NEED to know what happens next!!

I had the absolute honor and privilege of reading an ARC copy of Requiem by Georgia May. Here are my honest thoughts and opinions:

When I first read Soul Forge by Georgia it sparked something in me. I had never really been interested in fantasy, but her writing was cinematic and drew me in so much so I read her book for 24 hours straight and yelled in her DM’s about it. However, I never could have anticipated her OUT DOING the first book! I knew it was going to be amazing but THIS??? THIS!!!! I was so overwhelmingly impressed once again!

Requiem follows Elda and Vel as they navigate Darkhold. Vel being “imprisoned” by Malakai, and Elda, while trying to control her newfound power, must try to escape in one piece to save Valerus from whatever Malakai has in store. Escaping seems easy, lol NOT, but if they make it out what does the world have in store for them? Traitors? Horrible Fathers? Dragons? An absolutely insane captain? Who knows! (I do but you have to read the book because I simply refuse to spoil it for you 🙂‍↕️)

Your heart strings will be absolutely shredded and put back together just to be completely and utterly incinerated by the end of the book. Monsters and epic journeys, bonds broken and formed, cheering and violently sobbing over character deaths, this book has it ALL.

If you haven’t read Soul Forge by Georgia May, you’re definitely missing out. This story is absolutely captivating, you will not want to put it down. But you HAVE to read it first so you can yell about Requiem later ♥️

I cannot wait to see what Georgia has up her sleeve for book 3! I need it like yesterday. (Please write faster Georgia i’m begging you)

Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice: 🌶️🌶️
Adventure/Fights: 🗡️🗡️🗡️🗡️🗡️
Sobbing: 😭😭😭😭😭
Forgiving Georgia for the ending: TBD

“Requiem” by Georgia May

Georgia May’s “Requiem” is a triumphant celebration of the fantasy genre. Serving as a superb sequel to the brilliant “Soul Forge”, this novel showcases May's masterful command of storytelling.
The narrative takes a compelling darker turn, shifting its focus to the demon Vel. The first act is a harrowing descent into despair and danger, masterfully contrasted against the despicable evil of Malachai and his utterly depraved Corrupted. Through intense trials, both Vel and Elda are forged in fire, their suffering moulding them into the powerful characters they are destined to become.
I adored the exploration of the unique dynamic between Vel and the angel Sypher, who share one body. While “Soul Forge” highlighted Sypher's connection to Elda, “Requiem” gives Vel the spotlight, creating a fascinating inverse and allowing Elda to learn profound mental and physical lessons from her complex soulbond.
The incredible worldbuilding expands further, treating us to the glorious addition of dragons! Vel’s reunion with his dragon, Ember, was a highlight, and the prospect of a future bond for Elda has me thrilled.
Once again, I was utterly absorbed, never wanting the story to end. Georgia May perfectly sets the stage for the next instalment, and I am already counting down the days.

I’m not emotionally okay after this.
I don’t know how to move on.
Did I finish the book? Or did it finish me?

Georgia once again creates an emotional masterpiece that leaves you begging for more. A true constant page turner.

Requiem will forever hold a special place in my heart with really diving into Vel/Syphers story. I cried, I giggled and I wanted to chuck the book. (No books were harmed in my emotional turmoil.)

I am trying to put into words how incredible this book is, and I’m truly at a loss. This book left me SPEECHLESS. The depth, the turmoil, the anxiety (you know exactly what you did in that infirmary Georgia😭) was all so beautifully done.

On a small note though - I WANT JUSTICE. THE HEART WASN’T ENOUGH. I said what I said.

100/10.
Absolutely phenomenal.
If you have NOT read Soul Forge, you are truly missing out on such a gorgeous story.

🧡 “Fix What is Broken” 🧡

I went into this book with the mind set that I was ready to be hurt again…but I was not ready..when I tell you my emotions were all over the blinking place…I balled my eyes out at many parts…there is pain, sadness, healing, and growth!

This book absolutely will keep you on edge and keep you hooked start to finish just as soul forge had! This read is absolutely cinematic and you will not be able to set this book down! Not once was I able to leave this book whether it was to eat, answer text, nothing! This book consumed me!

The writing is absolutely cinematic and beautiful, it will feel like you are going to watch a movie! The way each character is dived into so deeply and shown for both there good and bad! You see there growth along side there breaking and loss of self.

This book is an amazing follow up to Soul Forge, you will fall in love with these characters and not be able to leave them behind…

So grateful for receiving an ARC following Soul Forge. I actually want to give this a 4.5 rating because it was so close to the 5 stars I gave Soul Forge, but for me it just felt like there was something missing - I can't put my finger on what, and it may just be that it's the middle book so knowing there is still more of the story to come.
It continues in the same epic fantasy vein as the first book, and is an action-packed chunky read. With Sypher trapped within Vel, this book focuses more on the relationship between Vel and Elda and the challenges they have to face, not least escaping Darkhold! There is action, danger, humour and sadness, making for a whirlwind of emotions as the story unfolds.

Brilliant second book

The continued saga of the Soul Forge (Sypher/Vel) and the new wielder Elda. In this second book Sypher/Vel and Elda continue their battle against Malaki, fighting their own inner battles and trying to survive day to day, after enduring their torturous time in Darkhold. This second book in the series does not disappoint, Georgia May’s descriptive, detailed and imaginative writing is brilliant, yet again, taking the reader along with them on their journeys, trials and tribulations. Although quite a long book, it does not feel drawn out, providing the reader with a continued experience throughout. However, I was not expecting the ending as it was, will now have to wait for the next book!

Georgia you genius!

We follow on from the events in Soul Forge, we see the full badassery from Elda. Relationships bloom, we see new places, new faces and lots more blood and gore.

This book was so beautifully written i laughed, cried, kicked my feet at the banter and held onto my seat when shit hit the fan. If you like eloquently written world building, action packed scenes, romance, emotional turmoil and so many beasts. This book is for you.

This series is not spoken about enough. It needs the recognition it deserves.

If i could break my rating scale i would. it deserves much more that 5 stars.
and THAT CLIFFHANGER....
i'm going to go stare at the wall now and patiently or impatiently wait for book 3.

Another incredible story by Georgia May. I cannot state how excited I was to get more Sypher and Vel in my life! I give her the most gratitude possible for the ARC copy I received. I beg everyone to give this series a shot. It contains everything one could possibly love: magic, pegasi, dragons, romance, hot demons, and loveable characters. I am fully invested and again cannot wait for more. I need to know more because the way wept at the end!

There is so much story and it is all exciting. It is tense in all the right places, but breathes with just the right amount of levity. 600 pages is long, but it doesn't drag. A lot of bang for your buck.

Georgia May does it again.

With my heartbroken at the end of book 1, I was so eager to jump in to book 2 Requiem.
With Sypher 'gone,' we start to learn so much more about Vel, and this is where I became so conflicted because sometimes he was an absolute A-hole, and other times, my heart hurt for him.
Requiem also perfectly highlights Elda's character development. No longer the uncertain young woman who is unaware of her own powers. Instead, we meet a queen in waiting, who is fully embracing all that being a wielder brings her.
As with Soul Forge, Requiem will put you through the emotional wringer and leave you teetering on the edge of the next cliffhanger.

What a brilliant book.
This installment felt much darker than the first, which makes sense given that we’re dealing with Vel, the demon soul.

It’s a chunky, action-packed read—full of romance, shocks, and some deep emotional moments. I thought it was beautifully written, and I enjoyed every moment of it.

It will break your heart, but it will also make you believe in love and the power of found family. I’m so ready for the third book, and definitely want to know more about Ignis!

I’m so grateful to have received an ARC of this!

I am really bad at writing reviews but the sequel to Soul Forge delivers. I finished Soul Forge screaming into the abyss at the injustice of what happened to Sypher and Elda. However, I loved getting to know Vel and my heart broke with every page turned. Such a misunderstood character at the start but you want to love him in a huge way. I also love how Elda's character blossomed from book 1 to book 2. She is such a strong FMC in a very understated way. I just loved everything about this book. Georgia May really out did herself and I think everyone needs to go grab this ASAP.

This second instalment is tear your heart out, light up your life, kick you when you’re down and make you beg for more fantastic.

Loved getting to see more of Vel. Elda has truly come into her own and yet Georgia May has kept the reality of a warrior princess and traumatized woman (and man and demon) in the forefront.

This is not a cute book. It is not a fairytale. It is dark and raw and real.

Masterfully written with an ever expanding cast of incredible characters, Georgia May has us all yet again clamouring for the next instalment!

If you want a book that will rip your heart out, but make you keep reading, Requiem does just that. The stakes have definitely become higher in this sequel. I can't stop thinking about this book. It was great to get backstory on characters such as Reiner and Julian. And Yani quickly became one of my favorite characters. The love throughout this book is complicated but so powerful. The world building is just spectacular. I look forward to seeing what the future may hold for this series.

This book is relatable and painful.
A good way to describe it would be: painful and lovely for more than half of the book, then things seem to look good at like 70% and then there is devastation and then a cliffhanger.
I’m hurt. But how much did I enjoyed it? A lot, thank you.

Book Review! 5 ⭐️
Georgia May did it again! Vel is the star of this book. He is witty, sarcastic, and fabulous! I love that he is a touch her & die, in the scorched earth kind of way.
Elda has grown a lot in this book. Gone is the soft princess, and in her place is the future queen.
That ending, though! Why Yani?
Anyway, thank you for the ARC and for trusting me with your second bookbaby.
