Mystery in the mountains by Mary Warren -Mary’s authors note already has me swooning -Instantly you feel the cozy small town vibes also listening to the playlist is a WHOLE VIBE -you can feel the heartache from their past 🥺 -their first convo of her back in town had me holding my breath you feel the emotions -the paranormal vibes had me on the edge of my seat -her being a seer and him wolf is so cool -their little moments in the house has me blushing 🥰 -the radio, her mom and dad 🥺 -the mystery, fantasy and paranormal vibes WOW JUST WOW this book was a beautiful and an intense wild ride I loved it Mary you did it again with this one OMG rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I am loving all the Plus size rep in romance!! FINALLY!!! I liked Abe better as a character just because I like me a bear… but Asher broke my heart a little. Sunny was very likable and their romance was heartwarming and 🌶️ I want to know more about the town and the magic I’m so glad to see there is another coming. I also wouldn’t of been mad at a Julie and Abe spicy scene thrown in.. 😄
4.5 - Thank you so much to Mary Warren for a copy of this book!
This book is OUT NOW!
This is the next book in the Magic in the Mountain series. You do not necessarily need to read the first book to enjoy this one but having the knowledge of Julie and Abe just adds to the story as they are pretty relevant in this.
The first book was a true novella under 200 pages but this one clocks in right around 300 pages. I thought this allowed Mary to give more of back story for the characters. This is told from a dual perspective but also some flashbacks which we were able to see Sunny and Asher in their younger days. I didn't think there was too many flashbacks but just enough to give us that context.
Sunny is returning home after a few years away. She wants to mend the torn relationship that her leaving caused between her and Asher. Asher and Sunny grew up together and he is a wolf shifter and Sunny is his mate. So the severed ties were much harder on him because of this. Together and also with the help of Abe they repair Sunny's childhood home. But coming together they also were trying to solve the mystery in the mountains *wink*
Sunny felt so remorseful for her leaving and I think once Asher fully knew why it hurt a little less. There was an incident that occurs later in the book that had him spiralling and taking him back to that feeling of her leaving again. I thought the character development between the two were really good especially Sunny. I love their relationship and how their history just played into their current relationship. I had to the giggle at the "hide and seek" type game that they played out in the woods. As my other reviews for Mary's books state, Mary is just so good with her sex scenes! She has a way of just making it feel so intimate. And I will always love how she writes about the female body size that makes me feel represented.
This book does kind of give us clues for the 3rd book (unless I'm way off in my thinking). The next book won't be out until Fall 2026 so we have a bit to go!
If you are looking for a spicy romance featuring childhood friends to lovers turned strangers to lovers with a mystery - give this one a read!
If you love second-chance romance with a touch of magic and mystery, Mystery in the Mountains is a must-read! After falling in love with Magic in the Mountains, I couldn’t wait to dive into Asher’s story—and it did not disappoint.
Sunny and Asher’s journey is emotional and tender. Years ago, they both suffered unimaginable loss in the same tragic accident. Sunny, overwhelmed by grief, left Hecate Hollow intending to clear her head for a few days… but didn’t return for four years. Meanwhile, Asher stayed behind, carrying the weight of his parents’ deaths—and the disappearance of his mate.
The reunion between them is full of raw feelings, healing, and heart. I really felt for both of them and was completely swept up in their story. The paranormal elements, small-town vibes, and the hints of mystery added so much depth and intrigue.
Mary Warren has created a world I don’t want to leave. I’m fully invested in all the characters, and I’m already counting down the days until we get Esther’s story.
I received an ARC of this book, but all opinions are my own. Thank you, Mary Warren, for the opportunity to read early!
I've read a few books by Mary Warren, all were sports romance. When I heard she was coming out with a paranormal romance, I jumped on the chance to get my hands on an ARC copy and I'm so glad I did! I'm so happy I was selected to receive an early copy. I feel like I flew through this and before I knew it I was at the last few pages. I loved the relationship between Sunny and Asher, growing together, learning to trust one another again, while also reminiscing about the good times in the past. I also loved some of the side characters and the quirks each of them had. I'm definitely excited to see what happens in this series next!
I love a good second chance romance, and this one did not disappoint! Sunny and Asher work so well together. I just adore them! If you like cozy romance with mystery, magic, and spice, I think you'll enjoy this book. I definitely recommend it!
This was a great quick read, and a wonderful slump buster.
Sunny is a bit of a mess, but a loveable one. And Asher is a major hunk with some justifiable trust issues. Their story is a second chance, childhood friends to fated mates romance, with just a dash of angst. I'm not big on relationship angst personally, but it's really just a touch for flavor - a minor amount that's expected in any second chance romance.
I haven't (yet) read the first book in this series, but it wasn't necessary. This book can be read as a stand alone. It's also in 3rd person, which I love and feel like is getting rare in the romance genre. I'll be going back to read the first book in the series next.
Bears, Wolves, and Witches, oh my! ******************** Tropes: PNR, second chance, small town romantic comedy with a murder mystery subplot, plus size representations ******************** Triggers: Fantasy Violence, Gun Violence, Drunkenness, Grief, Past Death of Parent, Side Character Mention of Childhood Abuse ******************** Quote: “Even with all the mistakes she’d made, she’d found her way back and fixed everything.” ******************** Synopsis: Sunny returns to Hecate’s Hollow to fix up her dead parents house, and repair her broken relationship with Asher Black, a sexy wolf shifter and baby brother to Abe whose story was told in book one of the series—Magic in the Mountains. Although reluctant at first, will he eventually give into the powerful bond of his fated mate? Will Asher & Sunny find their power in time to save the mountain and protect its magic?
Sunny, like her mother before her, is a seer. Her visions are triggered by strange occurrences in her childhood home as she works to restore it. The big coal company is knocking on the door. They want the land the house sits on to assist in their ultimate quest to mine the mountain. Sunny and Asher, Asher’s brother Abe and his sister Esther, also Abe’s mate Julie, and the very magical Bridget, work together to not only unravel the mystery surrounding the car accident that took Mr. & Mrs. Black, along with Sunny’s mother, but also to block VanDeer Coal from mining. ******************** Review: There really is magic in the Appalachian Mountains! I live in the foothills of the Appalachians, and all of my people settled throughout the mountains when they made their way here from Scotland, so I’m familiar with the legends and stories.
Mary Warren has a great gift for storytelling, which is inherent in this book. I didn’t want to put it down, literally forcing myself not to read too quickly and miss clues however. I wish there had been a bit more development of both Asher and Sunny’s characters, but they were still fun to read. Everyone was written with enough detail to make them dynamic without weighing down the manuscript with unnecessarily complex elements. The dialogue has a natural flow and doesn’t feel at all forced.
The story is told in first person, dual points of view, which is always helpful for us readers. Kudos for the plus sized representation done in a natural and nuanced way. Warren’s plus size characters embody the values, struggles, and perspectives of fat women without resorting to simplistic or didactic portrayals. Oh, and the playlist at the beginning is an extra nice touch.
I was given an ARC in exchange for my honest review and I can honestly say I strongly recommend this book, along with everything else Mary Warren has and will write. Did I mention the brilliant cover? ******************** Ratings: Movie rating NC17 (adults only definitely,) overall 5/5, romance 3/5, violence 2/5, spice 3/5, and 5/5 for the gorgeous cover image. ******************** Publication date June 12, 2026
After reading Magic in the Mountains, I was extremely curious to find out more about Asher. The youngest of the Black siblings had indeed been one of my favourite characters in that book, so I had to read Mystery in the Mountains. To say that I liked this book would be a massive understatement. I loved following the story of Sunshine and Asher.
I wasn’t necessarily expecting what was going to happen in the book when I started to read it, but I wasn’t unpleasantly surprised to discover that Asher is much more than the funny and slightly annoying little brother he appeared to be in Magic in the Mountains. I didn’t expect him to have so much heartache, but then again, I should have guessed as those who hide behind humour are often the ones suffering the most on the inside. I enjoyed discovering his more serious and protective side, as well as the dichotomy between his wolf and human selves, who are not on the same page when it comes to Sunny.
Sunshine Palmer left Hecate’s Hollow four years ago, unable to cope with the grief of losing both her parents. Especially after her father’s death, a man who seemed to have been driven insane by his wife’s passing. Although she only intended to leave for a few days, those days turned into weeks, then months, and finally years. When her childhood home is about to be declared abandoned, she finds the motivation she needs to return to the town that has always been hers, and face Asher, her mate whom she left all those years ago.
One thing I liked about this book is that—for a change—it’s the FMC who grovels for a second chance with the person she has never stopped loving. Sunny is determined to prove to Asher that she has come back for good. I also appreciated the fact that Asher is plagued by doubt and cannot help but think that Sunny will leave again eventually. I found his doubts very realistic. Forgiveness is never easy, even when we know that the person who hurt us is meant for us.
One thing is certain amid all these questions: Sunny and Asher are truly meant for each other.
I will definitely read the rest of the Magic in the Mountains series to find out how the mysteries surrounding the mountains are resolved.
Many thanks to Mary Warren for giving me the opportunity to read an ARC of Mystery in the Mountains. This review is my own. All opinions expressed are mine.
Thank you again Mary Warren for the gifted ARC of Mystery in The Mountains.
What to Expect: Plus Size Representation Hurt & Comfort in each other Second Chances Paranormal/mythical creatures Mystery and intrigue Primal Play And Much more!
When Sunny left home 4 years ago, she left not only the mountains of Hecate's Hollow behind, but also her Soul Mate Asher, the mystery surrounding her mother's tragic accident and her father's corresponding death while investigating that accident. Now she is back to prove to Asher that she's never leaving again, while also working to solve her mother's mysterious death and validate her father's research all while trying to save Hecate's Hollow whether she wants to or not.
This was a fun and quick read with a bit of slow pacing and build up but I really enjoyed the story regardless. The chemistry between the two MCs was absolutely undeniable. Their healing and acceptance of their past was done nicely and slowly and it was nice seeing the human side of the characters. The author allowed for the characters to be hurt and feel hurt and not just jump right back into a relationship.
This story had a bit of everything: Mystery and Intrigue, Soul Mates, Haunted Record Players, Mythical Creatures and Shifters, and just so much more that I don't want to give any more away you'll just have to read the book for yourself and if the Second Chance Romance and the promise of a great and spicy chase scene in the mountains isn't enough for you to want to read this book do it for the mystery and intrigue behind the story because OMG the story went a direction I absolutely was not expecting!
Favorite Highlights:
"To those seeking second chances, may you be brave enough to ask for forgiveness and strong enough to do what it takes to earn it."
"His wolf was just happy his witch was back. With her near, he could protect her. It felt simpler."
“You waited for me, like a good little witch. Even when you were running away, you didn’t let anybody else touch what’s mine.” “No. I’m yours.”
“Fuck, Sunshine. You look good enough to eat.” “My puppy, what a big dick you have . . .” “The better to fuck you with my dear, but I don’t plan on starting there.”
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Mystery in the Mountains - Magic in the Mountains Series Book 2 by Mary Warren
I totally fell in ❤️ with the residents of Hecate's Hollow in book one, so I knew this one would be the same.
Book two gives us a fated mates/young love/second chance story between Asher and Sunny. Asher is a wolf shifter and the brother of Abe from the first book. Sunny is a seer, just as her mother was. Sunny left town after the death of her father. He had become obsessed with the tragic accident that killed her mother and Asher's parents. Living in the house with the memories, visions, and spirits got to be too much. She always had plans of returning after clearing her mind, but it turned into years instead of the days she had planned on being gone. She uses her abandoned family home as the push she needs to return. Upon her return, she reunites with Asher, as he is her mate. They work to fix up her house and their relationship. Things are moving along, but they can all "sense" something is amiss. Sunny's dad had started an investigation into the tragic accident but wasn't able to see it through. Sunny is able to start piecing the details together. With the help of her coven, the house, a few spirits, and maybe even a little Loretta Lynn, they work to keep the mountain safe from a group that is conspiring to strip the mountain not only of it's coal, but of it's magic too.
This one is definitely more paranormal romantic suspense than cozy. It's so good! I really hope that Esther gets her own book next. I think she will have the best story! 🤞
I received an ARC of this book, but these opinions are my own. I would like to thank the author, Mary Warren, for allowing me the privilege of reading her work. ❤️
Mystery in the Mountains is the second instalment in the Magic in the Mountains series from Mary Warren. It is a second chance romance where we follow Sunny and Asher as Sunny returns to Hecate’s Hollow after 4 years traveling to clear her head after the death of her father.
The building relationship between Sunny and Asher is beautiful to watch. Warren gradually reveals their shared history and rebuilds their trust in one another, while also showing us the trauma underneath. The relationship is juxtaposed by Abe and Julie, who are almost the perfect couple to emulate.
I have read the first book in this series and I enjoyed Hecate’s Hollow. We get to see more of it and learn more about the mountain in this book. We get to see Bridget again, a staple character in many of Warren’s books and I enjoyed meeting Esther - with whom we see a coven of witches begin to develop in the Hollow. Along with Asher and Abe as shifters, you get all the magic in this story.
Alongside the romance and relationships, the mystery mentioned in the title brings an engaging element and depth to the story. Sunny not only finds out more about her father but the mystery binds her closer to the Black family, opening up the story to be continued in future books.
I love Sunny and Asher - they are truly a sunshine couple and bring out the best in each other. They complement the gruffness of Abe and the shyness of Julie. I look forward to learning more about Esther in future books too!
If you are a fan of magic, romance and mystery, this is an easy reading book with true love and found family that I highly recommend!
This was such an enjoyable and interesting read. There was plenty of spice and drama and the mystery was really interesting. Plus she lives in a house that is more than just a regular house and has a radio that keeps turning on on its own.
Sunny/Sunshine is a witch who just returned to her hometown after a four year absence.
Asher is a wolf shifter who has spent the last four years trying to survive the heartbreak of his mate abandoning him.
They are mates. Four years ago, his parents and her mom died in a car accident. Her dad went a bit mad and also died. She was overwhelmed by everything and left for a few days that turned into years. He was crushed. She is back and he is not okay. They embark on a journey of apologies, trying again, tolerating, and forgiveness.
Sunny desperately wants to make amends and prove that she is home to stay. She has valid reasons why she left all those years ago. Asher wants to protect his heart. And has valid reasons why he doesn't want to let her back in his life. They are both lovely characters and it is emotional watching them navigate these big feelings and have some tough conversations.
I enjoyed this story and the characters and am very curious to see what ends up happening with the big mystery. And it was set in the 90s so that nostalgia hit was a good time!
I received this as an ARC and am so grateful. My review is based solely on my thoughts and opinions about the story.
Definitely recommend if shifter/magic is your vibe or you're interested in exploring those themes.
I love when a fated mates story isn't so straightforward, and that's exactly the case for Asher and Sunny in MYSTERY IN THE MOUNTAINS.
Sunny returns home years after hitting the road to escape the pain of losing her family. But she also tore a rift in the magical bond she shared with her fated mate, Asher. He lost his family in the same tragic accident, but his ties as a guardian to their mountain town kept him from following.
Their reconciliation is inevitable, but it's not easy or instant. Work has to be done to repair trust. I love the gradual thawing of fear as they each demonstrate how devoted they are to repairing their relationship. Some demonstrations just happen to be hotter than others.
I'm also fully invested in the future of this little mountain town. We might get a nice little wrap up to the red eyes in Sunny's visions, but there are even more questions and mysteries left for sequels and new characters. I'm hooked!
Also, I'm here for anyone who is prone to reading series out of order. Yes, I read book two first. Don't worry though, there is work done on page so you don't feel lost. But you'll definitely want to go back and read Abe and Julie's story. They're the cutest.
Thank you Mary Warren for the advance digital copy to read and review.
Shifter romance + second chance romance + fat girl representation?
Oh hell yes.
For YEARS (ok like a year and a half) I’ve been eyeing Magic in the Mountains - and once I finally purchased it and devoured it in a day, I KNEW the second in the series - Mystery in the Mountains was going to be fabulous.
Sunny and Asher have such a history together, and when circumstances require Sunny to return home to Hecate Hollow, it’s a somber reunion for these two. What I adore about their history is the flashbacks we are given to see how tender these two are and how they’ve journeyed through life before meeting one another again.
This entire series is magical - literally - but what is so well done is the storyline development from one book to another - the seamlessness with which Hecate Hollow continues to evolve and deal with one situation after another. *chefs kiss*
What am I most looking forward to? Esther’s story… (I hope we get this!)
The best character in the series? Bridget. If I could grow up and be anyone, I legit want to be her.
Overall: The plot is solid. The characters are memorable. The spice is well balanced. Solid story writing overall.
Coming back to a place you ran from is never easy—and in Mystery in the Mountains, that tension is baked into every chapter. Sunny’s return to Hecate’s Hollow sets the stage for emotional fallout, old wounds, and a mystery that refuses to stay buried.
I really liked the premise—a woman returning home to face the mess she left behind, only to get caught up in even more danger. Sunny and Asher clearly have a history, and the emotional weight of that separation is felt throughout.
That said, the flow of the story felt a bit uneven to me. Some sections dragged, while others moved a bit too fast, and I found myself occasionally pulled out of the story trying to find the rhythm again. But I still enjoyed the world of Hecate's Hollow and the mystery woven into the setting.
Sunny is clumsy, stubborn, and full of heart, and Asher is the steady anchor trying to figure out if forgiveness is possible. Still, there were moments that worked for me and others that didn’t. For example, finding out that Asher spent the time Sunny was gone hooking up with other women while she was completely alone—that didn’t sit right with me. And the way Sunny just brushes it off and practically blames herself? It felt stereotypical and a little frustrating.
There were pieces of the story I connected with, but overall this one just didn’t fully click for me. Thank you to the author for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Some things were kind of amazing, like the surprise [Nox, redacted] appearance, and some things were a little fun but ended up kind of cheesy, like the house helping her out but, ah, flying away in the end. (I'm having trouble expressing how entertaining the plot was while avoiding spoilers.) Anyway, overall I had a lot of fun with the mystery plot, and even though there's not much resolution or justice...though, really, is there ever a satisfying ending when the fundamentalist cult, the magic-stealing warlocks, and the evil coal corporation team up?...I didn't feel like this left off on an unbearable cliffhanger.
The romance was a little stressful because it was largely just two people who know they're mates deciding to put aside their hurt and move forward, but the primal play was certainly fun!
There's this thing where Asher knows he has to forgive Sunny because she's his mate, so he doesn't want to. Everyone knows this is the situation, so Abe jumps right back in with Sunny, but Sunny basically tells Asher that she wants to make things right, then doesn't really try very hard to do that and just repeatedly asks him if he's accepted how things are (she's not a jerk about it, and she's apologetic, it's just that all she really does toward making amends is cleaning up her own house). He has a thought that "too much time had passed for him to hold this against her forever," and that's kind of his approach -- he never seeks a middle ground where they talk and address the issues and slowly re-tangle their lives, it's weirdly all-or-nothing and she never grovels or tries to make it up to him.
I hate that she didn't date at all while they were apart and he not only fucked other people, but enjoyed it and considers doing it even after she's back. What kind of weak-ass mate bond do these two have that he can get hard for someone else after having her for thirteen years? I just hated the dynamic of him so easily saying "fuck you then" to his mate, who he didn't even try to hunt down.
"So, maybe he’d hooked up with her a time or two . . . He’d hooked up with lots of people in the Hollow a time or two in the years since Sunny left." (It's only been four years. I get that a lot, but it isn't sleep with the whole town a lot, you know?)
"This time, he might as well try to fill it with women and booze again." (She's back at this point!!)
“You waited for me, like a good little witch. Even when you were running away, you didn’t let anybody else touch what’s mine.” (But you did? Okay dude)
"Sex with other women had been good— some great, even—" (excuse me buddy??)
"He’d always taken pleasure in the act of pleasing, but with Sunny it was different." (Again, excuse me? He met her when he was ~8. He knew she was his mate at 13. I don't know, it just really bothered me that he seemed to try so hard with other women in her absence.)

✨My Thoughts: Mystery in the Mountains takes place in Hecate's Hallow opening up to old wounds of a rejected fated mate. I really enjoyed what the plot was, but didn't enjoy how it was written. I felt the POV's changed mid chapter, sometimes mid sentence, and I think the book needed another pass through with an editor. I even downloaded the Amazon Kindle book and it was the same. I believe the spice was good, but the plot was rushed in some areas, and unbelievable in others.
💖Quotes: "That laugh settle in his soul, and his wolf went from a growly beast to one asking for belly rubs."
This is my second fated mates read and I think I’m liking this genre. Asher and Sunny have a past and have know since they were children they were fated to be together. Tragedy strikes both their families and when they should be there for each other, Sunny end up taking off. As fated mates this act of Sunny leaving town, leaving Asher wrecked him. It’s been several years and now she’s back. While Asher wolf is quick to forgive and move forward, Asher is taking a little whirl longer. It’s hard to fight those abandonment feelings and believe Sunny won’t take off again. While they work on fixing their relationship and growing for their past mistakes, they are also solving a mystery on what happened to their family all those years ago. This is such a good blend of a smooth flowing story, spice and suspense.
(Note : this story is the second book of a series that is 2 books so far. The story feels most fluid when reading in order)
Mary Warren has a delightful way of writing characters that live and engage the world in bigger bodies but it feels so normal you absolutely feel like you’re just like the main characters.
When Sunny returns to her home after years on the go she’s ready to tackle the fear and grief that gripped her when she left. She’s also ready to greet the chasm created between the love of her life (and also mate) Asher. Proving she’s worth his forgiveness is no easy task, especially when the magic of the mountains appears to be threatened by outsiders with ill intent.
This story was a lovely addition to the larger story being painted in this series and I can’t wait to see where we are taken next.
This is book 2 of the Magic in the Mountains Series, each books follows different characters. This book follows wolf-shifter Asher and seer Sunshine, Sunny. It is a second-chance romance because Sunny left for four years and came back. Asher and Sunny had to rebuild their trust for one another all while dealing with some drama on the mountain. Even though they took care of a warlock in book 1, it seems more are back to try to take over the mountain and the magic. So, the protectors of the mountain and its magic realize they need to do better.
The romance part of this was a great second-chance romance. The mystery part was fun too! And you get to see the couple from book 1, because the men are brothers.
Quotes: “Can I kiss you?” “I missed you so f-ing much. It was like I had this void inside of me.”
Great magical mystery with top tier supporting characters and spice that’s as hot as it is romantic!
I really loved the dynamic that SHE is the one who left and it hurt HIM badly. So often it’s the other way around and that bit alone makes this book such a different feel. The mystery and crime solving aspect that follows this storyline is super well written and heartfelt - this makes me feel so invested in the love story as well as the overarching family dynamic and solving the parents tragic accident.
I love the characters from book one and the introduction of so many supporting roles that hold their own personalities, backstories, and hopefully foreshadowing a couple for the next book!
In the second book of this series our FMC is a witch, finally coming back home. She left, kind of sudden a few years ago - with the intention of being gone a few days - but that turned into a few years. Our MMC is her mate, a wolf shifter. They grew up together and he lost half of him when she left. Now she's back, not only to get her mate back, but to stop her parents house from being considered abandoned. But as she is cleaning and fixing the house up, the mystery of both her mom, and his parents car accident becomes more prevelant when some new people come into town trying to buy her land. He wants to help her solve it, but he's still angry and worried she might just bolt again.

Once again, Mary hit it out of the park with this one! I absolutely loved this with all my heart. Her stories just always have the perfect amount of heartwarming moments, drama, comedy, and of course spice! And that is why she is one of my must read authors.
This is the next book in the Magic in the Mountains series, and I had so much fun returning to the amazing town of Hecate’s Hollow. We got a new couple to swoon over, but also got to return to the beloved characters of the first book. This new couple, Sunny and Asher, have my heart and soul! They really teach you that even people fated to be together can have their issues, but that will never stop them from loving each other and keeping each other safe.
Thank you so much Mary Warren for sending me an ARC copy of the second book in the Magic in the Mountains Series! This was so good! I love Asher and Sunny so much! It a second chance romance with a twist because Asher and Sunny are fated mates and after an accident Sunny leaves their small town for 4 years but now she is back! It was interesting to see Sunny and Asher try again when their relationship was bent but they are meant to be. It was so beautiful seeing them fall in love again and also recognize the damage that was done.
I also really loved seeing how close the town is and seeing the mystery of the mountain and the threats to it unfold! I was on the edge of my seat and just when I thought I a theory.. BOOM plot twist!
A story of second chances and magic, with some extra intrigue thown in.
I loved how while Sunny and Asher decided to give their relationship another go very quickly, they both had issues they needed to work on. The mystery of the title was resolved rather quickly, perhaps I'm missing something from book 1?
The spice was present and correct, here be knotting!
I look forward to the rest of the series and reading more from Mary Warren.
I love that this book is about rediscovering home and protecting home. Sunny left town because of tremendous grief, but finds her way back to her crumpling family house and her mate. Asher is angry; Sunny left him. But the wolf inside him is quicker to forgive than he is. Sunny and Asher have to rebuild trust and I think Warren does that really well. I love the flashbacks to their childhood together and their early romance. Also, Sunny’s protectiveness at the end was really refreshing because it’s usually the other way around. I recommend you go read this one, and if you want, read Magic in the Mountains first, but they are interconnected standalones, so you don’t have to.
It's release day.. But I read this as an ARC! Thank you again Mary Warren for the chance to read your new book. :) 4 Star read for me, I love Sunny and Asher so much! We have a second chance romance, I love the mystery in this story as well. We also have its always been you. We have werewolves, witches and magic. Also this book was super cozy and I loved reading it during the rain. I also did not see that coming.. but I'm not going to give any spoilers. Enjoy reading this book as Much as I have.
If you’re looking for a second chance, touch of magic, and mystery. We meet Sunny and Asher. Asher is a wolf shifter and Sunny is a seer. Both suffered unimaginable loss in the same tragic accident. Years after they reunite when she comes to town. I like that this time around it’s the FMC who grovels for a second chance with the person she has never stopped loving. This is my first time reading an FMC that grovels rather than the MMC and I’m here for it. Will Sunny and Asher finally be together?? Will the mystery surrounding the mountain be resolved?? You don’t want to miss it.
