Mafia King's Forbidden Chains

Rate this book
The night I saw her dance, I knew I had to taste her…
What I didn’t know was how that one taste would undo me—
both my mafia empire and the heart I swore dead.

Selene Vasquez— twenty-five, defiant, forbidden.
Me? Two decades older. Brutal…
A Don carved from blood.

I thought I’d ‘discarded’ her—
until I saw her being dragged…
into a forced betrothal by my ruthless enemy.

He didn’t realize ruthlessness is my very foundation;
what he triggered in me painted the alley in blood,
chained her fate to mine.

Now she’s my fake fiancée…
My possession.

“Sweetheart, you could tear me apart and I’ll still f**k you until your body begs for mercy.” I tell her when she presses a hand to my wound, thinking it might break me, “pain tastes different when you’re wrapped around me.”

“You’re a monster,” she says.
And she’s right. “I am, Princessa. But I only turn savage when someone touches what’s mine.”

Yet nothing matches the savagery I’ll unleash when my enemy takes her.
Because Selene carries my heir.

And this time, I’ll paint the whole world in blood to take back what’s rightfully mine—even if it means tightening these forbidden chains.

I just can't find anything good to read. Yet another book where the writing is basic, first person pov, and the charactes unlikable. It's all tell, no show, no story created for the reader to read, just having to read the main characters thoughts. Which become very repetitive, are really mostly just how obessed they are with the other. Very boring.

It's poorly written too. Just a couple of the many examples are, you can't smack someone's ass when you're pressed to their front and have their back pressed to a wall, like the author writes the H do to the h several times in this

It's not possible to knee or kick two men in the balls at the sametime, especially when they are standing on either side of you, in close quarters, gripping your arms, and they and you are all facing forward, like the author has the heroine somehow managing to do here. So her escaping the two men was ridiculous.

She somehow, it doesn't explain, is able to escape from her parents' home desoite armed men invading it to kill everyone. Then she's able to fake her own death because by sheer luck for her, her father killed her maid, for some unstated reason, who, also by sheer luck, happened to look like her, same dark hair, height, body shape etc. And this coincidental killing happened to happen just before the attack on their home. Eye roll bad.

It keeps saying she's in debt, but it's so badly written I've no idea who she's in debt to. It says several times it's to Ramirez and the H will pay him off. But then it says it's to loansharks, plural, and that's why she's working as a stripper, to pay the loansharks off, and so they don't alert her enemy, meaning Ramirez, to the fact she's alive. It's very confusing and makes no sense.

The sex scenes are a joke too, how long he can go on for and the multiple times making her orgasm, abd he'sable to orgasm twice in minutes, yeah right. I know it's fiction, but seriously! It's like the author has never had sex, to write those scenes. And yet somehow, these unbelievably lengthy sex sessions happen within just a couple of written sentences. Which is both weird and basic.

What's with all the exclamation marks! And the huge gaps between every single paragraph! Many of which are only a sentence or two long! Seems to be the author artificially increasing page count to get more money from Amazon's pay per page read system! Yes, I overloaded the exclamation marks on purpose, to match the author's ridiculous overuse!

And last but not least, I hated the characters. The heroine is a stripper but really she's a sex worker because she let's him, a complete stranger, a rich looking punter at the strip club, eff her and gives him a bj for money. I pushed through thinking maybe the author would write acceptable reasons for it later but no. Her so called attitude was immature with ridiculous dialogue. And the H is even worse.

He's a violent asshole, I even pushed on reading after he beat the crap out of the guard, thinking maybe it was slightly justified in this mafia world because the guard failed to be at his post. But when he beats the crap out of the young chef just for doing his job, giving her food when she entered the kitchen saying she was hungry, because he doesn't like or want any other man speaking to or looking at her, I stopped reading.

It's really not enjoyable to read about a violent, controling abusing sshole as the male lead. I don't care if the author tries to use so trumped up excuse for it later, nothing excuses his violent controlling attacks. And I didn't even mention how yuck and ridiculous it is that the author has a mafia don go down a sex worker giving her oral! I love erotic and dark reads but Yuck! Did not finish at 30%!

I've read many books from this author. This is the next book in the Savage Mafia Empire series. It is a dark romance, set in a violent world. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. The story itself was really engrossing & well-developed. It captured my interest from the very beginning. I highly recommend this book!

It's written in a dual point of view style with the chapters going back & forth between the main characters. It helps you understand where each are coming from & why they act in certain ways.

The main characters are Selene & Cortez. Selene is a young dancer who's barely making ends meet. Cortez is a highly successful businessman & the mafia boss of the Marino cartel. They meet at a club & have an encounter. They are attracted to each other. Cortez steps in when someone from her past catches up with her. At the same time, Cortez has been experiencing problems with his mafia business. When he finds out who Selene really is, Cortez offers her a deal: protection in the form of a fake engagement in exchange for information to help him combat his enemies. Selene concedes for her own safety. The more time they spend together, the more they get to know each other. Their chemistry is combustible. They explore their mutual desires. Selene is determined to prove her loyalty to Cortez. When Selene's past puts her in danger, Cortez must find her before it's too late. As Cortez's enemies continue to threaten his mafia, he must deal with the threat. Long-held secrets come to light. Selene & Cortez must decide whether or not they have a future together. There are many twists & turns that keep this book interesting.

There's a lot of spice in the story. The many secondary characters, good & bad (some very bad), help flesh out the world of the story. I really like the almost brotherly relationship between Cortez & Alejandro. They care about each other a lot. I like how the book deals with trauma and healing. I really appreciate the growth arcs of the characters over the course of the story. I don't want to say too much more so as not to spoil anything. You really should read this story. I couldn't put it down. This book is definitely a must read!

When the man came into view, he was the same man she slept the night before,
the man came for her explained why he came , because her father promise.
she tells him that she’ s taken and she’s engaged to this man that came to her rescue . When the bad guys gone , she knew that the guy she slept with is the owner of the club, and he tells her that she’s fired.

This is an intense dark romance that pulls you in from the first page.

Selene is on the run — not only from Ramirez, a powerful Mexican mafia don who wants to marry her and seize her father’s assets, but also from the very mafia that murdered her father and brother and now wants her dead. She escapes to New York, hiding in plain sight as a dancer at one of Cortez’s clubs. When Cortez chooses her for a private dance, things quickly escalate beyond the stage. They both treat it as a one-night stand — until Selene is cornered by Ramirez outside the club and, in a desperate move, claims she's engaged to Cortez. Cortez steps in to protect her, setting off a dangerous chain of events.

Told from both Selene and Cortez’s perspectives, the dual POV gives deep insight into both characters. From red-hot spicy scenes to brutal mafia confrontations, this book keeps you on edge. A thrilling and unforgettable read!.

DNF.

Oh dear. FMC s on the run, having faked her own death after her father is murdered by some cartel types. We're not given any indication how she managed this or how she got into America. She owes lots of money to somebody but we don't really know who.

She's working as stripper and is summoned for a private dance . Within less than five minutes of meeting the guy they're giving each other oral sex than she lets him have totally unprotected sex with her. Don't they have STDs in Mexico? She's an idiot - and so is he too of course. At least give her some sense of self-preservation!

Then an alleged fiancé turns up trying to get her back but the MMC helps her out and she agrees to be his fake fiance but only on the basis that they have separate rooms and no touching despite already having had unprotected sex with him! There's no point being coy now.

I found it confusing and the writing was average so I didn't bother to finish. The characters didn't engage me at all.

Mafia Kings: Forbidden Chains by Valencia Rose
Selene is a ghost—vanished from the world after her family was brutally murdered. To survive, she fakes her death and disappears into the shadows, working as a stripper in a club owned by none other than Cortez Donatelli, the ruthless head of the Marino crime family. She’s drawn to him before she even knows his name, her attraction reckless and undeniable.
But when her past resurfaces with deadly intent, Cortez steps in—not to rescue her, but to claim her. Her new life? A gilded cage. Think Rapunzel, but with high stakes, dark secrets, and a tension so intense it could ignite the room.
Cortez, the Don, is facing betrayal from within—someone’s cutting into his profits. Saving Selene was easy. Using their engagement as a cover to expose his enemies? Strategic. But keeping her safe from herself? That’s the real challenge. She’s strictly business... until she’s not.

Disappointing

I was looking for a romance and the Trashy start just shut me down. The MMC is a stripper, gives the MMC a b****** has sex with him. The heroin doesn't have to be totally innocent but I wasn't expecting it to start out her whoring herself out. I lose interest in these kind of books. I'm looking for an angsty Romance with at least a little buildup before they have sex, there's not much to look forward to after that Also a mafia King is not going to give oral sex to an untested trashy sex worker. You can't kick two guards in the nuts at the same time. After they've already had some serious sex she asks for a separate room. He finds her irresistible but she's been in a separate room for 3 days. I wonder if authors read their books and see how ridiculous they sound even for fiction. Did not finish I could not endure 9 hours of this silliness just for a few spicy scenes.

Mafia King’s Forbidden Chains by Valencia Rose is a dark, intoxicating romance that pulls you deep into its shadows—and you won’t want to leave. Selene vanishes from her pain-stricken past and becomes a dancer in Cortez Donatelli’s club, unaware she’s drawn into his empire—and his obsession. Their chemistry crackles with danger, desire, and secrets that refuse to stay buried.

The story shines when it leans into both raw emotion and ruthless stakes. Scenes where Cortez fights for Selene, or struggles to balance his power with fragile love, resonate long after the page ends. Though the “gilded cage” trope is strong, the characters feel like more than their roles—they carry inner scars, fears, and the courage to fight for connection.

If you crave mafia vengeance, forbidden love, and a heroine and hero worth rooting for—this one delivers in spades.

Finding love in the one place you thought you would sums ups this story.

When she thought she had out run her past and things would turn around she runs into the self proclaimed devil himself. When the past catches up to her and he protects her and he figures out that she is a missing link to a mafia family that has a fallen he agrees to protect her with a fake engagement. She has an always just wanted to be seen and even knowing that she is in danger she keeps pushing fighting him in all the ways that matter to her. When they can't fight the pull between them they fight and make up but when he almost loses her his feelings are too strong for him to deny and now he has a to fight to get her back.

This is a mafia vs. mafia story, and I was hooked from the very first page. We follow Selene, who is on the run from a bad man, also in the mafia, whom she refuses to marry. During her escape, she finds a job as a dancer, and the club happens to be owned by another mafia boss, Cortez—a man to drool over and sexy to boot. From that moment on, he knows she's his and makes sure she no longer dances for others, but only for him. A fantastic storyline with plenty of suspense, romance, chemistry, danger, and plenty of steamy moments.

What an amazing story from start to the very last Epilogue, Valencia Rise really knows how to write a story that's hard to out down.
Danger there's plenty of that, an age gap romance leading to a very steamy love life.
Saline a stripper and Cortez mafia shouldn't work out but it can happen.
Drugs are the business for Cortez Donatelli head if the Marino crime family deals in and when another player tries to take him out you know things will never be the same again.
Twists with a dramatic story line and so very much more to keep you reading to the end.

This was a great book. It has everything that makes a great mafia romance. You have a forced arranged marriage to protect Selene, who is supposed to be dead. Her whole family was killed by a rival cartel, except for her and her twin brother. Cortez has rules that she breaks all the time, and she finds out real fast what the consequences are when she breaks them the first time. He falls fast and hard for her, and she also falls hard for him. If you love mafia romances, then you should give this ine a try.

This is Book 5 in the Savage Mafia Empire Series by this author, and can be read as a standalone. It is an age gap, enemies to lovers romance between Selene and Cortez. These flawed but likeable souls and the unique plot make for an intriguing read. What starts out as a fake engagement turns into something more.It is a wild ride with drama and steam, action and suspense, sexual tension and chemistry, twists and turns, and an interesting cast of secondary characters. An engaging page turner.

Excellent!! Mafia vs mafia vs Reformiers with a scorching hate to love story. She is the daughter of a now dead Don. Her dad and brother both list the fight. Now, she’s hiding and running while pole dancing. Then, she sees him. His gaze is sharp and penetrating…..

I enjoyed the storyline of this book but I didn’t feel it flowed or brought the characters to life.
There were things I questioned along the way that didn’t seem possible but I ploughed through.
I think the author could have done a little more research maybe or explained things a little better.
