Aim High: An Olympic Decathlete's Inspiring Story

Rate this book
The Ten grueling events, two days of speed, strength, technique, endurance, and above all, focus. For Dave Johnson they're a picture of the lessons he's found true for living.
Aim High is Dave's personal story. About a teen with natural talent drifting into trouble and how teammates, coaches and parents saw something more. About a marriage that faced the devastating loss of a child. And about a faith that gave a focus to aim high in life, as well as on the field.
And Dave takes you the intensity, the exultation, and the focused performance in the face of injury and heartbreak.
He also takes you inside each event with accounts of his personal records ... and failures. Not just what it's like to win, but the inner disciplines that are required.

Read this years ago, but I loved how he compared each event to life at the end of the chapter and how true it rings 20 years later.

Excellent book on Dave's life although the book end before the 1996 Olympics. An amazing life as he slowly allowed God to point him in the right direction and then help him through the '92 Olympics. Great read.
