AI has been assisting this book
I have to say that I enjoyed the first half of this book. The plot/storyline is good. And maybe I was just too tired when I read the first half, but I have to say that it wasn’t that obvious that AI had been used. Second half however, if extremely visibly use of AI.
“Not because x, but because”, or “not only, but also x, y and z”, and ways of speaking that seems just a little odd for humans. Some pages also have a bunch of em dashes, but those first come after 70%.
It’s not even that it’s super bad use of AI, maybe used for some improvement or proofreading. But it’s just enough that it’s grinding when you read. It feels just wrong enough that your brain registered that this is not human (more likely ChatGPT or copilot).
There are also a few proofreading errors, some incorrect grammar (or she instead of I), but the worse error is when a big announcement comes and the main word is missing. It’s not even a sentence “I’m .”. Seriously…. What is this…?!
I finished because I liked the storyline, but the use of AI is reason enough for me not to pick up a future Kenna king book.

AI vibes filled with plot holes, inconsistencies and glaring mistakes.
1. Aria couldn’t afford her father’s care yet she was able to afford the super expensive, exclusive dress that she bought for the charity auction.
2. How did Aria manage to paint in the park without an easel, a palette, a palette knife or turpentine to clean her brushes?
3. Gabriel was a gallery owner who worked closely with artists. He would have known better than to interrupt one while they were painting, especially to startle them (twice) badly enough that they almost dropped the brush that they were painting with. Not only would it disrupt their work, it could have ruined the painting.
4. You can’t carry a wet oil painting “tucked under your arm”.
5. Everett stressed repeatedly to Aria that their marriage had to appear legitimate to the board members. But on their honeymoon, he worked every day and ignored all of the activities that Everly had arranged for them to make their honeymoon look legitimate. He left Aria to explore and sightsee by herself even after both Everly and Christian warned him that the board members were suspicious after Aria had been seen and photographed alone multiple times.
6. The book says, “Aria’s face flickers through my head instantly. The museum. The look she tried to hide when Gabriel mentioned the opening.” However, the scene where Everett met Gabriel and Aria outside the gallery and Gabriel mentioned the museum opening didn’t even happen until a few pages later.
7. When Everett met Gabriel and Aria outside the gallery, the two men already knew each other although they had never met.
8. In chapter 17, Aria painted the picture of Everett that Gabriel titled, “The Lonely Billionaire”; she took it back to the villa and propped it up against a dresser in their bedroom where she could see it “every time I turn my head”. In the next chapter, Everett followed Aria to town and saw the picture hanging in Gabriel’s studio – “And there, on the far wall, where the light falls just right, is a painting I’ve never seen before”. How could he have never seen the painting before when it was propped up in plain sight in their bedroom? A few chapters later, the painting was back to being propped up on the dresser, this time in their bedroom at home; somehow however, it managed to be in two places at once. “I look across the room at the canvas propped near the dresser. The one she brought home days ago. The same one now hanging in Amaury’s gallery.” ???
9. Everett was standing in the kitchen and was thinking that he was “trying to remember how my wife takes her coffee”. In the very next paragraph, he was thinking that he absorbed everything she told him and that “there’s nothing about her that I’ve forgotten”.
10. Why would an artist keep their brushes in a drawer in a kitchen in another wing of the estate “because it makes more sense” rather than their studio with all its specialized storage?
11. When Everett and Aria were together in the pool, he picked her up and sat her on the edge of the pool. A few paragraphs later, it said the he "backed her into the pool wall".
12. Everett had Aria’s teeth marks just below his shoulder blade “from the moment he drove into me so deep my back arched off the mattress and I bit down on whatever part of him was closest”.
13. Everett found out that the board members were sniffing around looking for proof that their marriage had been arranged. He was afraid that they were going to find out about the contract and the money he paid Aria to marry him. So, he decided to go back to staying overnight at the office and leaving her alone “to protect her”. This made ZERO sense.
At that point, I’d had enough. DNF

I tried, but I couldn’t get into this one. It’s such a disappointment because I really enjoyed earlier works and the spinoff premise from the hockey world is handled so well (with some Umbrella Academy overtones to the billionaire siblings that made it all so strange).
The tone was … hollow. Maybe it’s because the MC is so emotionally constipated? It also dearly needed edits before it went live.
I received it as an ARC from the author only a few days before publication, and I think it would have benefited a lot from having publication delayed in order to fix the typos. But that wouldn’t have solved the hollow tone for me.

I just absolutely devoured this book!!! Everett’s family and the whole marriage clause was so crazy! I loved how the siblings came together and were so close, especially considering how they didn’t grow up together. Aria needed her job, and once she was let go, she was pretty desperate for a way to keep paying for her father’s necessary medical care. I love a good marriage contract/marriage of convenience trope. Everett was already pretty much in love with Aria before their arrangement even started…he just couldn’t or didn’t want to see it. He showed her in so many little ways, though. A bit of a slow burn, but it was great watching their relationship grow. Spicy and sweet. Loved it and can’t wait for more from this series!!!

Cute but a little drawn out. Honestly Everett’s emotional constipation got irritating.
Like the man was still unable to express his love for her at its peak in the last 20%. I didn’t think it was cute or endearing… nope it was down right annoying.
I feel like this book was too long and could have been significantly edited down and been more enjoyable.
I did however like the FMC Aria. She was driven, smart, caring and loyal to her father. She never begged or threw herself at Everett and I liked that.

June 6, 2026Okay I liked it a lot- but the writing was poor and I would say the storyline was pretty drawn out. Also, the author really doesn’t write descriptions well at all so I felt like it was hard to picture the writing.

The premises sounded good but it was disappointing.
I was told about their history and how they like each other but I wasn’t shown. It felt like a cop out.
Most of it was just describing their wealth and showing me his siblings so unsubtly that it turned me off from continuing to read. I know they’ll have their own books, but the author didn’t have to introduce them so strongly here (hinting at their personalities and at his best friend having something with his sister) instead of focusing on the main characters of this book

Almost 500 pages long and I still needed to download the extra epilogue to calm myself down
This is my first book of this author and I must say that I am pleasantly surprised. The writing is light and flowy and the humor and banter were right up my alley and I‘ve laughed out loud a lot, which is not a given.
I liked both Aria and Everett and could totally relate to where their insecurities and limitations came from.
I was honestly afraid of looots of OW drama and the plot twist at the end was like: whaaaaaat???? How can this be possible?! Totally didn’t see that coming!
That being said, I think the book could have been 200 pages less. I had to skim quite some after the 60% I guess, because I just needed the action and the internal monologues and descriptions of the scenery got really tiring.
Also, I wanted to see what happened to the other characters further on, especially Jeremy so I also read the extra email epilogue 😂 good strategy to catch new subscribers!

I loved getting to dive into the new owner of the Hawkeyes (oh yeah did I mention it’s the same universe so I got to see people I knew within the Hawkeyes and I loved that)
Having now met the Kauffmans I need every single one of their books
Within literally one chapter I could feel the chemistry and Kenna pulled me IN

I enjoyed this marriage of convenience trope. The conflict was a touch annoying but not enough to make me dislike the book.
Aria and Everett were enjoyable characters and I liked the level of slow burn and tension but also appreciated that it didn't take so long that I was becoming frustrated.
A few grammatical errors throughout but this was an enjoyable read.

Early Arc Review From The Author
I'm so happy we finally got a look into Everett Kauffmans life. He was introduced in Match Penalty. I love a good grumpy billionaire. Especially with the nick name Tin Man which fits him perfectly before he meets Aria. Aria is absolutely perfect and was the perfect match for Everett. Kenna delivers on romace,slow burn and good story telling in my opinion. I can't wait to find out what's in store for the other Kauffman siblings in the future. 💕

This is a new to me author. The story was good, but would’ve been much better if it had gone through some more edits. There were SO MANY typos and grammatical errors, it kept pulling me from the story. The timeline kept changing too, so it made it confusing to keep up with.
I liked Aria. She was sweet, loyal, and patient. Sure, the insta-love was expected. I didn’t quite expect it to be as fast as it was though, considering this is contemporary, not a paranormal/fantasy story.
Everett was ok. Typical cool, standoff, billionaire, doing what’s best for the family. I like that he put his family first when the time came without thought.
All in all, this would’ve been a 4 star if there weren’t so many errors throughout the book.

I wanted to love this book so badly, but I can’t look past the spelling and grammar errors🥲. I also really hoped there would be no third act breakup, but there was. Every book I have read by Kenna King has had one and it’s starting to get old. It’s becoming very predictable now.

I liked that it didn’t feel like I was reading bullet points, but unfortunately, there were so many inconsistencies and grammar errors that it kept distracting me from the story. The plot also went downhill after they got together…inconsistency one after the other. Also the whole consummation thing…..wtf LOL.
I had to flip backwards multiple times to see if I had missed something or if something had just been written twice because there were so many gaps or just repeated moments that felt like they weren’t supposed to be repeated?? Like the thing about her coffee, the introduction of Gabriel; how did Everett even know about Gabriel before meeting him? And this sentence nearly gave me a stroke trying to read it: “I look across the room at the canvas propped near the dresser. The one she brought home days ago. The same one now hanging in Amaury's gallery.” How can her canvas be against the dresser and also hanging in his gallery?? There were so many holes in the rest of the story too but I won’t list them for fear of spoiling.
Also, what was the point of Aria’s friends? We’re introduced to them in the beginning, with them being her “best friends” and there’s BARELY any interactions with them. It just felt so unrealistic bc they didn’t really fit into her story (ik the entire plot was unrealistic but I signed up for that and this layer irked me) why did they only come in whenever there was nobody else around???? They served absolutely no purpose other than to give her advice??? I guess?? and this book could have been written without them and I wouldn’t even have noticed.
Ik Everett has a complicated background, but at one point I really just thought he needed to get over himself. These two stars are for Aria.

It really irks me when details that feel important end up being forgotten and the dumbest things get repeated over and over when the purpose has kinda run its course. I’ve read wattpad books with more consistency. The whole thing about the trust was WHACK and even more so the board….none of the demands made sense it seemed like it was all made up on the spot. I think another round or two of edits before publication could have really served this book well.

The Marriage Clause by Kenna King had me completely hooked! 💍💕 Aria Taylor and Everett Kauffman’s story was everything I love about a marriage-of-convenience romance — tension, chemistry, emotional growth, and two people who never expected to fall so hard. 🥹❤️
I loved watching Aria bring out a side of Everett that he kept hidden from everyone else. Watching him go from guarded and determined to slowly opening his heart was such a satisfying journey. ✨ Aria was strong, compassionate, and exactly the person Everett needed to challenge him and help him see what really matters.
Their relationship development was the highlight for me — from a deal with rules and expectations to genuine trust, care, and love. The little moments, the growing connection, and the way they chose each other made their romance feel so rewarding. 🫶

Welp, Kenna does Billionaire as well as she does Hockey. I enjoyed this one. The only part that left me questioning anything was Aria's seemingly insta-love for a boss that refused to give her his coffee order. How frustrating. It's like he wanted her to fail... Anyway, Everett's father wrote stupid rules for the family trust and the board was full of frustrating characters. Anyway, I enjoyed this one.

First lemme just start by saying that I think this book could use another major round of editing. There were typos and editing errors throughout the entire book and it became very distracting by the end.
Aside from that, I did really like the story and characters! I will most likely continue with future books in this series because I enjoyed the dynamic between all the siblings!

Kenna king does it again. Contract marriage billionaire grumpy man and sunshine girl. I loved the backstory of arias dad always Sharing how he fell in love with her mom. Then the honeymoon in the same country her parents fell in love. Beautiful story kept me interested every single page. Kenna king books always have me throwing my sleep out the window.

3/5 ⭐️ started off so good but then it just got trope heavy by the end. I don’t feel like it needs to have both a marriage of convenience and an accidental pregnancy because it just felt like too much. With that being said, I will def read the other books in the series!

Okay, I have things to say. I liked this book. No, I liked the plot of this book. the premise was generic, and the execution was abysmal. why? because ChatGPT. I can recognize a ChatGPT book from 15 yards away, I have studied how it writes full-length novels and this one? this one is definitely its handiwork. I skimmed it, it kept me occupied for a couple hours, and all-in-all if you want to read a book with zero human emotion you can. do I think this would have benefited from being written by an actual human and not an AI chatbot? YES!!! But, its already been published, so there's not much else you can do about it but read it. or maybe, juuuuust maybe you can look for a book like it that someone actually spent their time on.

I'm a big fan of Kenna King and will never deny that she has insane writing talents. But I don't know if she's grown tired of writing or fell out of love with it but this book just screamed AI to me.
I tried to push through because the plot captured me but around 45% into the book I couldn't keep reading the writing is in shambles and it got hard to follow along to.
I have no concrete proof it's AI but this book lacks the warmth of a book written by a human.
