I have said this before in reviews about this author, but I really feel strongly that this book should not be pigeonholed as just erotica. This book covers a whole gamut of life experiences that many readers could identify with.

The protagonist of the novel is Anne, and when we first meet her she is at the end of the process of leaving an abusive husband and gaining custody of her children. The first part of the novel is told as a series of daydreams and fantasies, and the author contrasts the charged erotic and fulfilled life Anne can find in her imagination to the reality of an existence where she is trying to rebuild her life. The novel does not shy away from the difficulties that Anne faces, the lack of money, the need for a baby sitter, the reactions of friends, family and her ex-husbands friends towards her. The contrast in what is wished for and what is helps draw the reader to Anne, who is a strong yet vulnerable woman. You sense that in her life she would scorn pity and she is not always easy for the reader to know, yet when she opens up there is warmth and passion.

The second half of the novel changes direction slightly, although it continues to contrast reality and fantasy, except that now fantasy and reality are moving towards eachother rather then being separate ideals. Anne travels the road of love and courtship with an extremely unexpected and unusual man, but one to whom the reader, if they relate to Anne, will also feel themselves drawn to. There are new challenges and issues for Anne to face, racial differences, family court battles, simply the negotiations involved in falling in love and being with a new mate.

All of this, the way the author deftly mingles life, love and passion, is why I feel this book should be read by women looking for a strong stimulating read, and not simply for a piece of here one moment gone the next erotica.

I thought of myself as a young solo mother and the different path I could have taken to happiness. Anne the heroine of this erotic romance takes the paths, finds the solutions to life which I did not find.
It was an awesome experience to write this book and find my own success in the words as they came to me.

A cringe fest. A total one. Perhaps I'm not the right market but I gave it a go...
