Linkin Park

Linkin Park is an American rock band from Agoura Hills, California, formed in 1996. Since their formation, the band has sold more than 50 million albums and won two Grammy Awards. It achieved mainstream success with its debut album, Hybrid Theory, which was certified Diamond by the RIAA in 2005. Its following studio album, Meteora, continued the band's success, topping the Billboard 200’s album charts in 2003, and was followed by extensive touring and charity work around the world. In 2003, MTV2 named Linkin Park the sixth greatest band of the music video era and the third best of the new millennium behind Oasis and Coldplay.

Having adapted the nu metal and rap rock genres to a radio-friendly yet densely-layered style in Hybrid Theory and Meteora, the band explored other genres in their next studio album, Minutes to Midnight. The album topped the Billboard charts and had the third best debut week of any album that year. They have also collaborated with several other artists, most notably with rapper Jay-Z in their mashup album Collision Course, and many others on Reanimation.

Meteora Song by Song Album Review

Overview
This is Linkin Park’s second LP album. It produced singles such as Numb, that is the most played Linkin Park song on the radio. Numb is not the only good song on here, the whole album is one awesome song after the next. A must have for any Linkin Park fan.

Song by Song Review

Forward: The sound of glass being broken

Don’t Stay: This song grabs your attention from the very beginning with the sound of broken glass, followed by the remarkable guitar intro. This is one of my favorite songs on the CD. The lyrics cut through to you and say the words that you want to say when in a situation where you just had enough. The instrumentals in this song are very catchy and makes you want to get up and rock with it. Chester mainly does the vocals, while Mike chimes in every now and again. This song is epic.

Somewhere I Belong
This song has a very special meaning for me. The lyrics got to me emotionally during a time I really needed to reflect on what a bad relationship was doing to me. It set me on a path of self-discovery. I will always hold this song close to my heart. I love all of the instrumentals in this song. It really brings it out. Mike does vocals mainly for the verses and Chester  does the chorus and bridge. Chester chimes in on the verses, while Mike on the chorus. This song rocks.

 Lying From You
I got so engrossed with this song I had to listen to it again for the review. This is another favorite of mine. The lyrics draw you in along with the instrumentals. It starts off hardcore and ends hardcore. It is a great song to rock to.  Mike does the vocals on the verses mainly and Chester on the chorus, blending in throughout the song. One of the true staples to Meteora.

Hit the Floor
The instrumentals catches your attention right from the start. As it continues you can tell you are in for a treat.  The lyrics are well written and can be widely open to interpretation. Mike starts up this awesome song on vocals. Chester's powerfully awesome voice takes the chorus by storm. This song rings true to a lot of people. Mike also covers the bridge of the song. Awesome song.

Easier to Run
The instrumentals catches your attention right from the start. As it continues you can tell you are in for a treat.  The lyrics are well written and can be widely open to interpretation. Mike starts up this awesome song on vocals. Chester's powerfully awesome voice takes the chorus by storm. This song rings true to a lot of people. Mike also covers the bridge of the song. Awesome song.

Faint
I have always loved the instrumental beginning in this song. It is number two of my all time favorite Linkin Park songs.  Mike starts off the vocals and does the verses. Chester does the chorus and bridge "I WON'T BE IGNORED!!!!!! I remembered thinking, yes, exactly. This is another song that the lyrics caught my attention to.

 Figure .09
I love the guitar intro in this song.  Mike starts off the vocals with lyrics that many can relate to.  Chester chimes in every now and again during the verses as well does the verses and bridge with Mike of this very awesome song.  This song reminds me of what we give up for people that we shouldn’t, becoming which that we hate.

  Breaking the Habit
I loved the beat of this song right from the start. I could listen to Chester sing like this all day. He has such an awesome and versatile voice. You can just feel the emotion he puts in this song. Chester sings the whole song. It starts epic and it ends epic. One of the great staples of Meteora.

From the Inside
This is one of my favorite songs on the album. The instrumentals are done well right from the beginning.  Chester starts off the vocals. Both Chester and Mike do vocals on the verses. Chester does the vocals on the chorus and bridge as well. The kind of song that expresses that you just had enough.

Nobody’s Listening
This song caught my attention right off with the awesome instrumentals. The beat gets your body moving. It had me dancing all over my apartment. Mike does vocals on the verses. Chester does the chorus with Mike chiming in on them.  Mike also does the vocals for the bridge. This is my favorite song on the album.

 Session
A Japanese flute with a mixture of different sounds, started by Mike and added with some add ins by other members. Beautifully made.

 Numb
This song's signature start builds you up to prepare you for one awesome song. This song is the most played Linkin Park song on the radio, at least where I am at. The lyrics could be related to anyone who has felt that numbing feeling from the expediency of others. Chester mainly does the vocals, very well might I add. Mike chimes in a couple of lines in the verses. All together epic song for them.

this is one heck of a book it explains how meteora was made and the flaws during the making.it includes lyrics, guitar notes heaps but it also explains what were some of the song meanings.there are heaps of songs that i all love but overall i prefer breaking the habbit cause of its meaning and its catchy.the meaning is i dont want be apart of something i dont belong in such as someone elses battles that they must fix themselves so theyre breaking the habbit of doing that over and over again.i love it cause its the same as life as some of my friends need me to fight there battles in life but i want to break the habbit and stop fighting there battles when theres alreading a battle rushing in my life so i have to break the habbit.these songs and meanings are of such inspiartion that id recommend this book to those who are interested in linkin park or favour the song breaking the habbit to definiely read this book.by william ps Linkin Park rules!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Breaking The Habit"

Memories consume
Like opening the wound
I'm picking me apart again
You all assume
I'm safe here in my room
Unless I try to start again

I don't want to be the one
The battles always choose
'Cause inside I realize
That I'm the one confused

I don't know what's worth fighting for
Or why I have to scream
I don't know why I instigate
And say what I don't mean
I don't know how I got this way
I know it's not alright
So I'm breaking the habit
I'm breaking the habit tonight

Clutching my cure
I tightly lock the door
I try to catch my breath again
I hurt much more
Than anytime before
I had no options left again

I don't want to be the one
The battles always choose
'Cause inside I realize
That I'm the one confused

I don't know what's worth fighting for
Or why I have to scream
I don't know why I instigate
And say what I don't mean
I don't know how I got this way
I'll never be alright
So I'm breaking the habit
I'm breaking the habit tonight

I'll paint it on the walls
'Cause I'm the one at fault
I'll never fight again
And this is how it ends

I don't know what's worth fighting for
Or why I have to scream
But now I have some clarity
To show you what I mean
I don't know how I got this way
I'll never be alright
So I'm breaking the habit
I'm breaking the habit
I'm breaking the habit tonight
