Before becoming a writer, Linsey was an archaeologist who studied shipwrecks in all kinds of water, from the tropics to muddy rivers (and she has a distinct preference for one over the other). After a decade of tromping around in search of old bits of stuff, she settled down to start penning her own adventure novels and is freaking delighted that people seem to like them. Since life is better with a little (or a lot of) magic, she writes urban fantasy and paranormal romance.
This is the third installment in the Charming Cove series. While each book in the series is a stand alone, characters from earlier novels are mentioned in the later books which creates a beautiful, cohesive, and charming setting.
When Isobel inherits the beautiful, but dilapidated Lavender House, she must restore it within 30 days, otherwise she'll lose it. Only problem is-the house is cursed and no one wants to go near it. As she works to fix the uninhabitable house, she must stay in the nearby boathouse, except she isn't the only one staying there. Despite the boathouse belonging to her late grandmother, her new werewolf roommate is adamant that he purchased the boathouse. In order to get Isobel out of his space, he agrees to help her restore Lavender House.
This book has so many of my favorite romance tropes-grumpy sunshine, forced proximity, enemies to lovers... It is also witchy, cozy, and builds on the magical town of Charming Cove. This series continues to be a comfort for me and absolutely recommend it for anyone who craves an escape to a coastal, witchy town full of benevolent, supernatural beings.
Thank you so much to the publisher and to Linsey Hall for providing an e-ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This one was the best one!!! I know is crazy I read 3 books in 1 day (and they are like average size books) when the hyperfixation kicks in I can’t stop! And it was worth it! So this one was the best cause they follow a very similar structure in term of love interest (it’s like they use the same recipe for all three books) with makes them predictable in how they will fall in love but keeps the plot open to all the good twists!! You think you know what will happen (cause something needs to happen to drive the plot) but them you get suprised by the characters personality and for the magical events. Each books deals with something different even if it’s in the same writing format! Really great! 😊 Happy I started my 2024 read with this collection! I almost didn’t!
Romance for Werewolves is the newest edition to the Charming Cove series and just might be Linsey’s best story yet.
This grumpy/sunshine story is just perfect. Our bubbly Isobel is just coming out of a bad relationship and somehow still only sees sunshine and well… curses. After denying her magic for so long she finds herself in Charming Cove after inheriting a run down house courtesy of a newly deceased absentee Grandma. Unfortunately her alternate lodgings are currently being occupied by a very grumpy and incredibly handsome werewolf named Rafe. A little forced proximity never hurt anyone.
While forcibly making Rafe open up and getting to know him, Isobel finds out he is cursed and has lost his pack and his family.. So in exchange for his handiwork on her cursed and equally grumpy house Issy sets out to unravel his curse and reunite him with his pack and his family.
As one does when living with an incredibly fit, and handsome werewolf Issy begins to fall for him. Who could blame her, honestly. But with so many things happening all at once, will they give into their feelings? Will they find a way to make it work once he is reunited with his pack? And most importantly, will the cursed house get fixed up so she can continue to build a new life with or without Rafe in Charming Cove?
You better add this book to the top of the TBR to find out!
I loved this cozy paranormal fantasy romance! The FMC and MMC have the cutest enemies to lovers relationship and Linsey Hall describes scenes in her book in a very similar way to Stephanie Garber. If you like fairytale like world building that is beautifully descriptive this is the book and series for you! I love the Magic system and the side characters in this book as well. It’s a sweet rom com!
This may have been my favorite of the series. Isobel and Rafe - a witch and a werewolf - a house with feelings and wolf without his pack. Will they get the ending they deserve? I loved it.
I'm loving this series! The characters are so relatable and loveable! Isobel and Rafe are so cute together and I'm a sucker for forced proximity stories.
Hmm... to me, this novel suffers from a bad case of kitchen sink syndrome. It tried really hard to appeal to different audiences : -YA in the beginning *From the language-seriously, what's wrong with "arse" instead of "butt", especially when you take in the wannabe NA material later? And the weird bathroom humor (not only does Isobel find out she gets cheated on after being in a ten year relationship, but a bird shits on her head too?). -NA later on *The tacked on sex scene that was so short/so far down the way, why didn't the novel just stick to being about Isobel learning how to love herself before loving someone else? *There is an almost saving grace from this with the character introspection, but that kinda gets magicked away...
I liked the original idea presented that Isobel does want/deserve a fresh start with her magic intact, and has to come to grips with being either emotionally abused (Tommy, her ex, was a mediocre sorcerer. And rather than support Isobel's badass witchery, he tells her to subdue it) or straight up ignored (her parents moved to Australia right after her grad ceremony. WTF?). Also, I would've rather not had the cartoonish "he's been cheating on me and we've been together ten years" bit, and had her realize that Tommy was emotional abuser when he did pay attention, and the fact that they'd met so young made it so they eventually grew apart because they didn't bother growing together. That would've made more sense (especially seeing as when she does talk about him, it's in how he'd never paid attention to how to treat her and their communication became nonexistent, and rather than being comforted by the silence/couch dates, Isobel grew exasperated) than him showing up and suddenly becoming the big bad.
Rafe... he's around... his chapters are few and far between. And while his curse is sad (he was cursed to both forget and be forgotten by his pack by a witch at nineteen for breaking up with her on V-day), he was kinda... barely second fiddle? Also, did he need to be a werewolf? It was so inconsequential (save for a few growls, a half-baked transformation sequence, and a "fated mates" mention) I almost forgot he was one. Was it all for the cheap "you're my mate" moment?
The setting was another pro, as was the house being not only alive, but persnickety. But again, the novel was so rushed, I barely had to time take it in. My fix? Make the series be interconnected, sure, but have three novels per couple. Make them longer so that you've got time to invest in individual characters, swoon for the romance, and feel the higher stakes.
This will go to a good home, but it sure as hell won't be mine.

i liked this book but i didn’t love it. i just couldn’t get into it at first and it felt kind of slow. i do like how this book incorporates the supernatural bit into it more then the previous books in the series. as the book went on i got more into it but it wasn’t until like halfway through that i started liking it more.
Fresh off a bad breakup, Isobel discovers more and more about herself and her ex the longer that she’s away from him. The first thing is that her grandma passed away and willed her a house, but her ex has been destroying all contact her estate tries to make with her. Only… there’s a catch: the house has personality, and she has a month to fix it up or she loses the place. It’s a great discovery given she’s homeless and leaving everything she owned behind. The second thing is that she’s an extremely powerful witch, which may come in handy with the house and the sexy werewolf she’s rooming with while she works on her house.
I absolutely loved this book. We follow Isobel and her grumpy werewolf roomie, Rafe. They’re two totally different types of characters, so it’s fun to watch them interact. Isobel is like a ray of sunshine while Rafe is lonely and grumpy. I loved following the two of them while Isobel rediscovers herself and learns that she’s capable of so much more than her ex made her believe. Meanwhile, Rafe has been a loner for a long time. Between the curse that made him forget everyone important to him and the grumpiness that followed, he’s been alone with a massive hole in his life for a long time.
While each of the books in the series can be read in whatever order you want, you do see the main characters from the previous books. It was nice to see them again even though some of it felt really awkward. It was interesting how they each played into this story in their own ways while giving very little away about their respective books.
Overall, I really loved the entire book. We have the small mystery about the house with its own personality, the mystery behind Rafe and the curse that stole a huge part of his life, and Isobel rediscovering herself and finding a ton of self-confidence. There’s some fun new supporting characters that I really liked, especially Isobel’s sassy familiar. There aren’t any hints about a fourth book coming, but it would be fun to see a character who isn’t a powerful witch lead a future book.
This is the third book in the Charming Cove series.
I really liked this book, it was fun to read and really easy. This is a nice, cozy, grumpy/sunshine, and force proximity book about witches and magic, oh! And werewolves! I really liked the plot, it was interesting and fun, and like the first book I loved all the characters. I loved that the characters from the first and second book appeared too. Isobel and Rafe are the main characters in this book and honestly they were great. I totally loved Isobel, she’s so joyful and determined, and her magic was so cool! While Rafe was so protective and good yet such a grump, but had great reasons to be, which I really liked. His POV was great but scarce. Oh and let’s not forget about Poa! That cat was such a good familiar.
I do have to say everything was kind of rushed, I needed more depth, I wanted more development in some parts, I feel like it could’ve been perfect but it was a cute, fast read, which was great.
Romance Rules for Werewolves is the third book in Linsey Hall's Charming Cove series and like the other books in the series, this Cozy RomCom is ridiculously charming and overflowing with magic.
Isobel Whitwell (Issy) is one of the most joyful characters I have ever read. Even after everything that she's been through, her horrible ex, and her family, she still finds joy in the little things. Issy is happy and empathetic. However, her best quality is also her worst. She sees the best in everything, which is good until it's used against her. Issy learns a hard lesson but it is worth it.
Rafe is the exact opposite of Issy and at the beginning their small interactions become like a challenge of sorts, can she annoy him, can he ignore her kinda thing. The werewolf is a bit grouchy and he keeps to himself. Rafe has a tragic backstory and he kind of radiates sadness but he's actually a good guy. Rafe obviously cared about Issy even if he was trying not to. He wears a mask but the little ways he takes care of her is sweet.
This is most definitely a sunshine girl meets grumpy guy story, a forced proximity kinda story. However, it's also about reinvention. Rafe has to start all over due to outside circumstances, he's just trying to find what peace he can. With Issy, it's more of a necessity after being a doormat for a good chunk of her life. I loved seeing Issy grow into her own person and Rafe come out of his shell, plus all of the dancing these two done around each other was gold. It was adorable seeing the pair come together even if they both were fighting it.
Charming Cove is an adorable seaside village filled with magic. It's saturated in every bit of the story, with spells, enchantments, and more, the magic is everywhere. The beautiful shops, the lovely view, and the charming people. Linsey knows how to create a vivid world, with her fantastic descriptions of this wondrous little village. I can just picture the cute shops like Enchanted Garden, Potions & Pinot, and more. Best of all, it's a real community that comes together to help people. There was a wonderful supporting cast of characters including Aria and Emma, the two leading ladies from the previous books. My favorite has to be eight-year-old Catrina, who is a powerful witch in her own right and knows how to handle her enemies. I know, right.
What a delightful read! Romance Rules for Werewolves was excellent and had the best plot twist, one I never would have suspected. I adore Charming Cove, and I'm going to miss this enchanting series.
This was amazing Charming Cover installment by Linsey Hall!! I seriously can’t get enough of this series!! So if you’re looking for a grumpy/sunshine romance, with witches and werewolves, a curmudgeon of a house, a sassy cat familiar and a found family like no other than this book…really this series is for you!
In Romance Rules for Werewolves, we meet Isobel. A 30 year old witch who has been living a life of suppressing her magic, in order to make her boyfriend happy. Even if said boyfriend didn’t deserve such accommodations, but all will be right because Isobel believes she’s going to meet him for a romantic date where her boyfriend is finally going to propose. Only to get there and realize everything is just not what it seems. So after ditching the loser and deciding to makeover her life Isobel heads to Charming Cove to reconnect with her Gran. Unfortunately this reunion doesn’t seem to be in cards for Isobel. On a positive note though, her Gran did leave her a house, with a personality of its own… one that leaves much to be desired. Isobel is an optimist though, and she’s determined to make things work out in her favor! Of course then she stumbled into the boat house (also belonging to her gran) and right smack dab into the towns new werewolf Rafe. From there on there’s so much amazing banter, and romance that this book is simply one I couldn’t put down!! And the characters!!
Wow Linsey Hall always astounds me with her characters! I loved that Isobel was a never-ending optimist. That she had never met a problem that couldn’t be solved! It made her so likable, especially since she had plenty of reasons to find negatives than positives! Of course Rafe was her absolute opposite!! He was a cranky, grump of a werewolf from the second they ran in to each other. Don’t worry though he has his reasons for that, and honestly they’re totally understandable. Even being a grump though he was still ready and willing to lend a hand when needed and be the voice of reason for Isobel when her optimism may have been just a little to much! Their banter and chemistry was amazing though!! I couldn’t wait to read what snappy lines they were going to say next or when the next seem would make me swoon!!
Overall, this is just a fun and lighthearted read!! And I would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for something funny, and sweet to read!!
Review : Just like the last two books of the series, I love the set up of the small town Charming Cove. The atmosphere and the vibe is so cozy and beautiful you would like to go visit someplace like this.
Then of course the animal companion and the banter between our FMC and her is hilarious, charming, entertaining as always.
As for our FMC, Isobel and MMC, Rafe is good and adorable too. I like them, both are suffering from their previous relationship hurdles. But the romance between these two characters has more prominent growth than the last ones. And the characters from the previous books are also did cameo here, which always feel good.
As for the plot, just like the previous two books, there's also a challenge. And the story revolves around it. And the romance goes parallel to that plot. The romance is good, cute, definitely slow burn, but I would say way better than the previous ones. The challenge is also cool. And in the book there's solid mysteries too. Overall I like this book more than the previous two books of the series. And I think others will like it too.
Ooooo this was cute cute cute ! The books have definitely gotten better with each instalment and I really liked this one. Your typical grumpy sunshine and then the snarky calico familiar to top it all off made it a really enjoyable read. While I liked Rafe and Isobel, my favourites in all these books have been the familiars. I’m unbelievably obsessed with them and they are all amazing and lovely and wonderful?
Now I want Tabitha and Holly to get their own books because they’ve seen side characters for so long they deserve some action.
Overall, nothing particularly extraordinary but easy to read !
Another wonderful read about Charming Cove. This series has been such a fun read for me. The witches and their magical powers and the adorable town they live in makes me so happy
Isabel, our main witch in this series needs to fix up Lavender House that has been left to her after her gran passed. But she needs to fix up her own life along the way after getting out of a crappy relationship as well as figuring out her magic she has been suppressing for years.
This story was adorable and lovely and so happy to read this one as well. A very easy and quick read.
I enjoyed this story more than the previous one but less than the first book in the series. I liked the characters and I felt sorry for Isobel about her ex-boyfriend, what a wanker. Rafe was awesome too and I hated that he'd been cursed! But I'm glad that everything worked out.
The community coming together to help Isobel and the house was AWESOME. I loved it. And I'm glad that Isobel befriended Emma and Ari both!
FINALLY A CAT FAMILIAR. She was as glorious as I hoped lol.
All thou this book can be read as a standalone, but it does have characters from the 1st 2 books, A Modern Girl's Guide To Magic and from How To Fake Date A Vampire
I absolutely love this series, and i really hope there are gonna be more. I can't get enough of this series. It is so fun to read and fall for all the characters. I absolutely love Werewolves, and he is the best. If u haven't read this series, u are totally missing out. U should pick it up and read it.
*wipes away a happy tear This was probably my favorite book in the series. I was a little hesitant because I don’t usually enjoy werewolf themed books but it was perfect. It was cozy and sweet! I loved seeing Isobel find her inner strength and voice. I super enjoyed revisiting characters from the other books and of course yet another sassy familiar animal companion.
I adore every part of this series. The characters, the setting, the magic! Love it! Must read! PS, can we get another series in Charming Cove with the three contractors! One could fall for Holly, one for Lily, and maybe the third for another witch. This cove has so many possibilities!
Wow! Book 3 was the best in this series! I really enjoyed Book 1. Book 2 was sloppy and a flop for me, so I was hesitant to read Book 3 (c’mon the title seems super corny).. but it was good! I enjoyed the romance in this one, but I REALLY loved the girlfriend relationships. How they had each other’s backs. How they’d help the main character reinvent and find herself after a bad breakup. So special! A fun and lighthearted read.
Another easy feel good romance 😊❤️ Yes it's predictable, yes it's cliché, but sometimes that's just what you need.
All 3 in this series have a very similar make up in terms of the way the story progresses. A challenge to overcome and a sexy man, but what I like is how different each one feels!
a cozy cute read to start the year! i don’t know if i was just reading too fast or what but i just didn’t fully believe in their relationship since it seemed so outta nowhere?? but overall easy cute read
