This is another case of "it's me, not the book."

In the beginning, the first half of the book was undeniably cute, filled with charming moments that made me smile. The banter between the characters was lighthearted, and I found it genuinely entertaining as they navigated their budding romance. However, as I delved deeper into the story, it veered into territory that felt overly cheesy and cringeworthy. There's a limit to how much sweetness I can handle in a day, and this book nearly overwhelmed me with its saccharine moments, leaving me feeling as if I were about to slip into a sugar coma.

What truly irked me was the classic third-act breakup, a trope many authors resort to. It often disrupts the flow of the relationship, and this was no exception. Before that pivotal moment, everything seemed to be going well—perhaps too perfectly for my taste. I get that Nikko is a very famous idol, with adoring fans and a high-pressure lifestyle, but his lack of effort to nurture the relationship he claims to cherish was frustrating. It felt disheartening to see him allow something special slip through his fingers simply because the moment got complicated.

After the breakup, my perception of Nikko shifted dramatically. He handled the fallout poorly, which made him come off as a thoughtless partner, and it left me feeling that he was not the sweet person this story initially painted him to be.

On the other hand, Jase struck me as an extremely pathetic character. His willingness to abandon everything for Nikko, who was selfish, was frustrating to witness. The moment when Jase was the one who approached Nikko to ask for reconciliation and profess his love felt like a new low. It was as if he existed solely to be the lover of Nikko and not a real person.

I must emphasize that I don't care how famous or important you are; relationships require effort from both sides. If one partner is left to shoulder the entire burden while the other merely coasts along, then that dynamic is inherently flawed, and frankly, it leaves the dedicated partner with little to gain. The third-act breakup, in particular, shattered the foundation of their relationship for me.

I realize this perspective might not be popular, especially since the book is celebrated for its sweetness, perhaps even excessively so for my taste, but after that breakup, everything shifted. Both characters took on a different hue, and I found myself unable to root for them, feeling disappointed in the choices they made.

Constant giddy joy. That is how I felt reading this book, hence, 5 stars, definitely pass Go, get $200, will read again and again. Join my re-reads playlist! Is it perfect? No. Was it perfect for me? HELLS YES.

Jase is a bilingual teacher and freelance language tutor who lived in Seoul, South Korea for a time. Nikko is a massive K-pop star who wants to learn smoother English for interviews and future opportunities. They have a mutual acquaintance (Jase’s best friend is part of the company that manages Nikko and his band) who realizes Jase would be the perfect person to help Nikko with his goal. Jase has NO idea who Nikko is.

Just that the man on the screen is the sweetest, most intriguing, entirely adorable person he’s ever had the good luck to be in touch with in...ever.

This book caught my heart in its hands and carried it through the rapids of falling in love over video calls with grace and refreshing sincerity and authenticity that resonated from the electronic pages. I just loved it.

The sheer delight of seeing Jase fall for Nikko without having any idea who he is, of seeing Nikko fall for Jase’s kind manner and stories of his ordinary life—seeing Nikko realize Jase has a dog about near slayed me it was so cute—these two had great chemistry as client-teacher, as friends, and then oh, so clearly as more before it ever occurred to them they were falling. Even the man who brought them together sensed it from how each of them talked to him about the other.

Gah. TOO FREAKIN’ CUTE!!! I about expired from the adorableness.

There’s conflict and angst too...once Jase realizes who Nikko is, once Nikko realizes what he wants more than anything is to meet Jase in person...there are a ton of obstacles because Nikko’s life is Restricted capital R, and so is access to him. In fact, one of the MCs falters at one point in a way I didn’t really believe in, due to how much it hurt each time they have to part, but...the pining that ensued was awesome, sooooo I went with it.

Their chemistry on screen and in person is HOT. So hot it got a little frustrating just how careful one is with the other. Like, my dude...you don’t have much time together and HE WANTS YOU! LOL. Yeah, well, they were sweet and scorching when they got it together.

The ending does wind up with them I did believe it would work, and I was so glad to see details around it, because I am sick of stories where people are in love but give up on it for external reasons they knew about in the first place when there are ways to work around it. These two were willing to put in the work! And it seems rife with opportunity for a sequel in which things are revealed...!

The secondary cast of characters was fabulous—Nikko’s bandmates are unique and supportive and fun, and Jase’s students at the high school schooling him and giving him assignments on K-pop was hilarious. And of course Nikko and Jase’s mutual friend Kaji is amazing. What a wingman!

I didn’t get enough (any!) info on what Jase ultimately told his mom—is he lying to her/not telling her about Nikko and why he winds up where he does? They seem to have a great relationship, but then no info on what she knows about all of it, which seemed a weird oversight. I also felt bad that Jase just left his school without any fanfare. What about Brenda, Jase? And Tyler and his marital issues? What about those students who educated you on K-pop?! And, does Nikko have blood relatives to deal with? I don’t remember. Hmmm. Re-read time!

Anyway, seriously giddy joyous reading experience. Hope the author writes more soon! A sequel, another band mate’s story, hoping for Kija and...!

HEA. K-pop megastar and ordinary guy. Secret relationship. Virgin MC Nikko and not-into-hookups-guy Jase (refreshing! Loved that!), totally safe for me on every level in a lovely way. Highly, highly recommended.

OH. I did forget to mention the unfortunate choice to say "I'm clean" instead of "I'm negative" in regards to STI status. It was jarring, though didn't take away from my love of the romance. Still. Note the outdated language.

maybe we have the same dream
maybe you could be my everything
maybe we would have it all, you and I
if you’d just let me hold your heart,
maybe you’d see the way I could love you

Teach Me K-Pop is Kaenyn King's debut, and what a sweet debut it is.

It’s hard not to think of Jaehyun and Raphael from Scarlett Drake’s Hamartia (which I ADORE) while reading—there are definitely echoes, specially about Nikko’s appearance and style and the whole band shenanigans—but this still feels like its own story, with a completely different energy. It’s an inspiration, not a copy 🫶

We’ve got a high school librarian x K-pop idol pairing, and honestly? They’re both adorable cinnamon rolls, like omg i want to steal them and protect them AT ALL COSTS!!!!! . Jase is a grounded, slightly awkward sweetheart with a soft heart. I loved that he is a librarian, honestly we should have more books with them 😀 .Nikko is dreamy, curious, and full of quiet wonder—the way he talks is all pondering and soft edges, and it just made me melt. Bonus: we have a virgin MC, and it’s handled with so much warmth and care.

What starts off as tutoring quickly turns into something deeper, but they have to navigate a lot: fame, secrecy,long-distancesecret romance, with just the right amount of tension and sweetness. They are just so gentle and sweet, my heart exploded so many times god…They say the most romantic things ever, both of them loving poetry, and connecting everything to the song's lyrics.

The first time they meet face to face it’s so beautiful, the light and soft touches, the shy looks and that delicious uncertainty of what do I do? It was magical, I felt it in my heart ❤️

Delicate, everything is so delicate, Jase is the most caring sweet top ever. Their intimacy is so intense…it’s love making, slow and hot. I loved that Nikko took what he wanted, because slow motion Jase was slowing everything down, jezzzzz 😂 he’s always waiting for Nikko to ask, why? It’s clear he wants it, so…… stop waiting and do it!

“You are here. With me. And I want…”
Suddenly he’s got his hands on either side of my face, guiding me back into another kiss, much more aggressive than he’s ever been. I groan when he gives me a little nibble that’s rougher than he probably intends, but still sends the best kind of shock running through me. “Nikko. Anything. I swear.” I just need him to say the words, and whatever he wants, it’s his.
“I want to feel you,” he breathes, whisper soft. “Jebal.”
I kiss him again; I have to. He didn’t need to say please, but damn if that doesn’t spark something inside me. “I want that, too. Want to touch you.”

I’m almost ashamed to disturb it with my pervy reading 🥵🥵🥵

There's also a soft, lovely thread of found family that runs through the book, which added another layer of heart I didn’t expect. It’s tender, cute, and full of heart. I adore matchmaker Kija, the library scholl girls who fangirl with Jase about RYSING, of course the adorable Rysing themselves and even Brenda in all, her grumpy scary persona 🙂.Lalo, Lux, Ryo, Chita,Tang talking to Jase not threatening at all was hilarious 😀 their support is everything 🥰.

I don’t claim to know much about the K-pop industry, but some of the rules felt extreme. Not being allowed to be alone in a room with someone? It felt a bit over the top. I get the need for NDAs, but the way idols are treated like machines, isolated and micromanaged, is something that really bothers me. It’s like a kind of emotional dictatorship.

And while I get that Jase wanted to be respectful and not rush Nikko, I did find the level of restraint a bit much. They were finally together after months apart—only for three nights—and… nothing? The sexual tension was there, alive and well, but never really addressed. Maybe it’s all the smut I’ve read talking, but it felt like a missed moment.

I also wish we had more of Nikko’s POV. I know Korean culture and the language barrier might make things harder to express, but it would’ve helped balance the relationship. Especially during their first time—it would’ve hit so much harder from his side. And that breakup? Totally out of character for him. It caught me off guard, and suddenly Jase was the one doing all the chasing. Until that point, Nikko had done more of the emotional heavy lifting, and it made the shift feel a little unfair—especially when Jase sacrificed so much.

I loved the aesthetic of the book, the page breaks that we get it translated in the end, adorable and so fitting 🥰

첫눈에 /cheosnune/ (at first sight)
첫 키스 /cheos kiseu/ (first kiss)

I always feel like the most unrealistic thing about romances like this, when one or both MCs are super famous, is the HEA, believing they can stay together even with all the outside noise, so I have to suspend reality for a bit and just enjoy de fiction 🙌 but here was the opposite, it was too real and detached. All that secret forever felt too much for me…

If you like low-angst MM romances with sweet vibes, found family, and characters you want to wrap in a blanket, give this one a shot.

Thanks so much to the author for this ARC!

This book was such a great debut novel. Not only was the plot fun and captivating, but the writing and flow of the story made for an enjoyable read.

If you're into K-pop, or at least have watched the video Standing Next to You by Jungkook 🕺🏻, there's a huge chance you’ll enjoy this book!

This is a slow-burn romance between two extremely cute and somewhat shy guys living on opposite sides of the planet. And as someone whose bestie lives in a whole different time zone, I can 100% believe and appreciate that a relationship and feelings can develop through genuine conversations on a screen.

Jase, the delulu English tutor, and Nikko, the cutest idol in existence, had great chemistry. By the time they realize feelings are involved, you can’t believe otherwise. The challenges and roadblocks they face in their relationship are believable. Honestly, the most fictional aspect is how the management company reacted, but oh well, we read for HEAs, and I, for one, appreciate it.

There’s a whole cast of supportive characters that are delightful to read. I cannot wait to see if Kija gets his own book. Honestly, he deserves the award for most patient and supportive best friend ever.

This was really cute and definitely fed my new interest in K-Pop - I may or may not be watching K-Pop Demon Hunters daily with my equally obsessed kid....

I really liked how the relationship progressed and how the characters actually got to know each other! It was really sweet and felt so wholesome. I loved how anxious both Nikko and Jace were when they were first meeting in person!!

The book did feel a little on the slow side with the pacing though, and it did feel just a tad too long, but it was definitely enjoyable and a great debut book. I'm curious to see what comes next from this author.

A Love Letter to K-Pop and Queer Romance: My ARC Review of Teach Me K-Pop by Kaenyn King

I had the chance to read Teach Me K-Pop thanks to a connection I made through Instagram. I’d been following Ms. King, due to her ability to create amazing content and storytelling through social media, and when she announced she was releasing her own book and looking for an ARC team, I jumped at the opportunity. Thank you, Kaenyn King, for including me on your journey—what an incredible debut.

From the moment I opened the e-book, I could see how much care went into every element. The glossary and Korean cultural translations near the back are incredibly helpful. Yes, they require flipping back and forth, but that effort pays off—it’s a respectful nod to readers unfamiliar with Korean customs, while also making the story more immersive. It’s worth noting: if K-Pop or Korean culture doesn’t interest you, this might not land the same. But Ms. King’s sincerity in representing that world truthfully is deeply appreciated.

Visually, the book stood out. The use of blue text? Chef’s kiss. As someone with ADHD, the splash of color helped focus my attention and added a layer of visual charm I hope carries over into the physical print edition. The aesthetic details—the chapter icons, the thoughtful color palette, and even how POV changes were marked—made this a treat to read, visually and emotionally.

The story itself is an MM romance centered on Jase, an American high school librarian and English tutor, and Nikko Choi, a South Korean idol in the boy band “Rysing.” I was immediately hooked by Jase’s bookish heart and his commitment to helping international students—a character I could really root for. His path crosses with Nikko’s when he’s asked to tutor him in English. From there, the connection unfolds.

Reading Nikko’s POV was one of the highlights. His chapters reveal the weight of being a K-Pop idol—the unrelenting scrutiny, the pressure to maintain a perfect image—and yet we see his warmth, his personality, his poetry-loving soul. These perspectives added nuance to a character who might have otherwise been flattened by fame.

The tutoring scenes are tender and charming. You feel their chemistry building in the early conversations, and when Jase discovers Nikko’s true identity, it’s like watching someone tumble lovingly down a K-Pop rabbit hole—an experience I’ve had myself (hello, Stray Kids obsession). The prose helps ease that fall: while there were a few sentences I had to re-read due to info-dense moments, the writing was otherwise smooth, accessible, and engaging.

Nikko’s bond with his bandmates was another joy. Their camaraderie feels lived-in, organic, and real. You believe they’ve shared dressing rooms and late-night ramen and big dreams together. Their downtime felt like a genuine break from the spotlight—and a glimpse into a family found in fame.

The romance is a mid-slow burn—understandably so, given their worlds apart—but it’s the kind of slow dance that makes each step count. Even after Jase learns who Nikko is, their connection only deepens. Their vulnerability with each other is what romance readers crave. Nikko’s poetic soul and Jase’s steady warmth create this beautiful balance, and their eventual confessions had me swooning.

Their first meeting after weeks of virtual chats was so relatable it reminded me of when I first saw my now-husband in person after we admitted we liked each other—giddy and electric. Every milestone in their relationship—from first kiss to first time—is written with care, intimacy, and emotion. Yes, this is open-door romance, and yes, the love scenes are spicy—but they’re never gratuitous. They serve the story, the connection, the healing.

And I have to highlight the way Ms. King handled the realities of dating someone famous. It’s not glossed over, nor is the international distance. These things are hard, and the book doesn’t pretend otherwise. Yet through it all, Jase and Nikko are surrounded by people who support them—Nikko’s bandmates, Jase’s best friend Kija—letting them just be. It’s rare to read queer romance where outside judgment doesn’t crash down. Here, their love is given space to breathe.

The ending was deeply satisfying. It left me not only content but grateful for how grounded and real the story remained. Jase and Nikko had to fight for their HEA—not against each other, but against the world around them—and their determination made it all the more worth it.

Teach Me K-Pop is not my usual read, but I have zero regrets jumping into this ARC. Kaenyn King calls this a love letter to K-Pop, and I wholeheartedly agree. But it’s also a love letter to the messy, joyful, vulnerable process of falling in love—no matter who you are or where you’re from. Whether you’re a K-Pop fan or just love a heartfelt, honest romance, this one’s worth every page.

Bravos, Ms. King on your debut novel. I look forward to more things to come!

I enjoyed this :)
The good: it's an original, cute set up. I learned a lot about k-pop and both characters were likeable. It's very sweet and sugary (occasionally Nikko came over as female coded, but I happily rolled with it). There is a third act break up but I have a confession: I don't especially dislike them, unlike a lot of people? And it kind of works in this story, as one of them has to give, and a little time maybe was needed for them to reach that conclusion.
The less good. The formatting is a bit odd on a kindle - gaps etc. Also, the author rarely uses contractions ie generally uses 'I am' when 'I'm' is better, or 'he is' instead of 'he's'. It reads okay when Nikko speaks as English is not his first language, but not for the US characters and also not when we're in Nikko's inner voice. Once I noticed, it jarred a little.
But I don't want that to detract from the story because I enjoyed it and will definitely read whatever else this author comes up with in this world.

I fell in love with these characters immediately, and I couldn’t seem to stop reading. Like Jase at the start of the story, I knew nothing about k-pop, but that had no adverse effects on my enjoyment of the book. It’s a wonderfully written story that captured my heart, and I hope to see more of these characters in the future!

This book was so good. I literally got it today and couldn’t stop reading until I was done, I completely ignored all my adult responsibilities lol. Jase and Nikko’s love story is so sweet and hilarious. Nikko’s “brothers” and Jase’s students added so much to the story, I loved all of them. You will not regret reading this book, but maybe wait to start it until you have a free day lol.

This book FED ME, you guys.

I did NOT STOP SMILING from the moment I cracked this open to the moment I finished... and I almost read it in one sitting. In fact, I had plans the evening I was reading this and I was very, very annoyed I had to close the book to attend those plans- I finished it as soon as I got home that night.

K-POP! Who else loves it?! Honestly, my only real foray into K-pop up until reading this book was Hamartia by Scarlett Drake. I adore Hamartia, and reading that definitely made me interested in the K-pop world-- and reading this book re-ignited that fire.

This is one of those rare reads that is just happiness, all the zappies and serotonin. I find those reads hard to come by these days- so much romance is filled with angst (and don't get me wrong- I love a good angsty read as much as the next girl-) but there is something so wonderful about losing yourself in a story that is just HAPPY. And WOW does this one deliver all the happies.

The premise is fun-- Jase is a librarian in the US. His life is a little boring, but he's happy enough, making extra cash by tutoring international students online. Having lived in Seoul for years, he is currently missing the culture and missing his best friend Kija, who despite the many miles between them, has remained his closest friend. When Kija, who works for a production company managing bands in Seoul, contacts him needing him to tutor one of his clients, Jase is happy to help and make the extra cash, unaware that his new client is actually a member of the most famous K-pop group in the world at the moment.

Okay, so how much fun is this premise? One of these cuties is FAMOUS- like, really really famous. The other one is about as far removed from all of that as he can be-- completely clueless when it comes to the man on the other end of his laptop screen. Gosh I love a hidden identity. It gives such an air of mystery and tension.... WHEN WILL HE DISCOVER THE TRUTH?! And lemme tell you, the way that Jase discovers who Nikko really is- well, it so MUCH FUN and so well done- I was literally squealing.

These two fall for one another slowly online- only having spoken through screens and never in person. I loved how Jase's best friend Kija ended up acting a little like a "go-between," as he was fielding shy inquiries from Nikko about Jase on one end... and handling casual mentions of Nikko from Jase on the other end (neither of them were very transparent). This leant such an air of innocence and sweetness to the entire situation- in a really, really zappy kind of way.

Nikko himself is pretty inexperienced- being an Idol, he hasn't been able to date or meet people. He is falling hard for Jase, but all of those feelings are very new for him-- he is in uncharted territory. Inexperience does not equal innocent, though- I loved how bold he was once he finally tells Jase how he feels-- I was smiling like an IDIOT through the whole thing.

There were SO MANY MOMENTS in this book that were super romantic- I was on the edge of my seat waiting for these two to meet for the first time. I am not going to spoil when and how that happens, but I will say that the buildup was awesome and the result was SO SWOONY. Once Nikko gets a taste of what he has been missing all these years, he is needy and desperate for more- and damn, it was SO HOT.

Obviously, there is going to be some angst- these two men live in different countries but way more importantly, Nikko's entire life is dictated by the fact that he is an Idol. Having any sort of normal relationship is going to be extremely difficult for all the reasons... the author did a great job of recognizing this would be difficult, but not letting that difficulty explode into full-blown angst-land. I was really thankful for this, as the tone of the whole book was so hopeful, and I wasn't ready for it to become something heartbreaking.

These two were honestly such a damn delight- the slow fall from attraction into love was so well-written-- the feelings were beautiful and the writing was emotional. They were HOT together too- while this book is NOT driven by spice, the spice was verrrry well done and I was dying for sexy time-- it was SO GOOD.

The side characters in this book deserved their own medals- there was a big cast of characters here who made me laugh and made me grateful- they were all so supportive of our boys. We had "the girls" on Jase's end- his high school students who were K Pop obsessed and LOVED to gush to him about Rysing and Nikko (I REALLY NEED TO READ ABOUT THEM DISCOVERING SOMEDAY THAT JASE IS NIKKO'S BOYFRIEND- OK KAENYN CAN WE MAKE THAT HAPPEN OKAY PLEASE AND THANK YOU)-- as well as Tyler and Brenda-- and of course Kija, the best friend in the world. And Nikko and his "brothers-" the members of Rysing, the boys he has grown up with and loves to the end of the earth- I was in love with the way they love one another, and Nikko. I cannot wait to read more about them in this author's future books!

This author has killed it with her debut- I am so excited to read everything she writes in the future! I will be here for all of it!

it was a great author debut! I am a fan of living in two separate country and secret relationship tropes and this one did not disappoint! it was well done, original storyline and easy to get into the romance.

Jase and Nikko were so sweet and I fell in love with them pretty fast! I loved how the relationship developed through genuine conversation and a real connection is form before they even get physical. I liked to see Nikko's POV and see how he's struggle with being a kpop idol. Even the side characters had their moment and could make great story on their own.

if you are a fan of kpop, secret relation and sweet characters this one is for you!

I absolutely ADORED this book 🥹 it was so sweet and swoony and made my heart so happy!

Jase and Nikko were both really great characters and I found myself constantly smiling at their interactions from the very start of the book. Every blush, shy look and formed connection between the two characters fed my soul and left me wanting to read more.

Nikko especially was such an endearing character from the beginning and I instantly wanted to wrap him up in a big hug. I really enjoyed the way the author brought a sense of found family to the story with Nikko's 'brothers', and I hope we get to see more of them in the future.

The writing style was so smooth and easy to read and I ended up highlighting so many beautiful quotes! There were so many moments I absolutely adored and you could tell this book was crafted with so much love.

Whether you're already a fan of K-Pop or not, this book is such a great read and I'd definitely recommend it. This was such an impressive debut by the author and I can't wait to see what they come up with next!

First of all, I want to thank the author for the possibility of reading this ARC. And for taking me back in my own K-Pop bubble, I thought I had left behind me. No, my playlist does not play the newest Korean songs now.
In this story about Jase and Nikko does happen so much, I don’t really know what to say and where to start. Jase, a Hugh School Liberian teacher does also teach Korean people via camera. His newest student Nikko, is a idol, but Jase doesn’t know about that. They get the mutual feeling that they want to know each other better. But Jase finds out about Nikko.
In this story goes so much on. So much character development and feelings and and and. From the love, to missing, the misunderstanding, the longing. But also the friendship the family. It was so heartwarming, kinda funny and absolutely great to read that story about Jase and Nikko.
I liked the writing and the characters, the little quirks they had and the progress of understanding the feelings they had. Nothing felt forced and I loved this read. 5/5 stars!

Freaking adorable. This was the perfect read if you are looking for sweet, cute and swoon. These two were so sweet wit each other. I loved their tenderness. I loved their first meet and all the fun the brothers had. These two saw each other. The writing was good. This is a new to me author and I’d happily read more. I hope others in the group find their HEA.

Oh my goodness y'all, if you are ready to swoon over the cutest, most wholesome romance, Teach Me K-Pop is IT. Seriously, how is literally everything about this book so adorable? From an online meet-cute to whirlwind hidden relationship to the most perfect HEA - I was just giddy and smiling the whole time. This book could have been super angsty and intense - it is still theoretically a forbidden romance with so many obstacles that could keep Jase and Nikko away from each other. But Kaenyn King manages to navigate all of them in a way that maximizes queer joy, found family, and just ALL the good vibes. I am SO glad I read this book and I HIGHLY recommend it to anyone looking for a low angst read.

Jase and Nikko start their relationship as online friends - Jase acting as a conversational English tutor who has NO idea that the man he's talking to is part of an insanely popular K-pop group. After months of online conversations, they both start to realize that they are falling for each other. Though a relationship between a high school librarian and a HUGE K-pop idol seems impossible, literally everyone around Jase and Nikko is so incredibly supportive of them. Sweet, innocent Nikko has to deal with his bandmates' protectiveness and ribbing, but they all love watching him falling for someone for the first time. After finally getting used to the idea of Nikko's celebrity, Jase has to figure out how he can fit himself into Nikko's incredibly busy life. But, against all odds, they do it and it's so beautiful and sweet.

Not only is the romance in this book just delightful, the side characters are fantastic! I'm obsessed with Jase's high school fangirl friends - I'd totally read a book with them. The other band members are all wonderful, as is Jase's Korean best friend who hooks him up with Nikko as a tutor. Seriously, if you too are in your K-pop era, you need to get this book on your tbr! You'll actually learn a lot about K-pop while reading through some serious fan wish fulfillment with this sweet romance.

This book was so stinkin cute. As an avid K-pop fan, this book read like not only a love story between the town main characters but as a love story to K-pop as well, I found myself relating to so many characters within this book and at multiple times through out laughing at their actions cause ive seen myself in those situations. I loved the whole found family aspect, it made reading the interactions between everyone so fun. Nikko and Jase were such a wholesome pair, it was tooth-rotting fluff for most of it and it had me kicking my feet and twirling my hair pretty much. I'm not sure if this is just a standalone or if it is going to be a series but i would love to see the other Rysing members find their happy ending as well.

Sweet sweet k-pop

My heart is so mushy and happy right now.
You know those books that can make a horrible week just better? Well this was it for me.
My heart is warm and happy, there’s a smile on my face, and my brain is already locked in for book 2.
Jase and Nikko were absolutely adorable! Both inexperienced in different ways, longing for love and connection, yearning for something more.
Getting to see them fall in love after each video call was such a different experience from the norm. And when they finally came together? SWEET!
I also liked that the HEA is realistic in my opinion, and although not perfect, it felt real.
Noel is the cutest dog ever!
And I cannot wait for Kija and Lux’s story!

This was just so sweet 🥺 it played right into my k-pop obsession. Well, more of a Stray Kids obsession. But nevertheless, this was beautiful. I need more k-pop romance in my life, please.

I love Jase and Nikko's sweet story and the unique way their romance unfolds. It has all the tension of a slow burn, but none of the angst as these two fall for each other over a computer screen. Nikko brings an innocence to their relationship that Jase handles with such care. The celebrity/secret relationship tropes are executed so well with a satisfying happy ending. Along with the romantic storyline, this is a fun look into the world of K-Pop and I found myself falling for the members of the group just about as much as the MCs. If you're paying attention you'll catch some hints about whose stories may be coming up next in future books, and I'm equally looking forward to the potential continuation of the series in this world!

4.3 ⭐️ “Every kiss feels like a secret—something I am learning about him, something I am learning about me”

This was a solid debut by a new author. I read the whole thing in one day! The story moves quickly at first, and the character development is good. I loved Jase and Nikko and I was definitely rooting for them; their story was very swoony and I couldn’t wait to see the resolution.

Overall, I felt like the middle dragged on a bit, and the end came very quickly. Other than a small pacing issue -which may be a personal perception- I really enjoyed this and would read another story by Kaenyn King.

I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Where do I begin? I had the pleasure of reading Teach Me K-Pop early to support me in designing the cover and interior. As a designer, it was fun diving in and making note of all the little moments. And as a reader...

It's no surprise I love K-Pop, having been immersed in this world since 2021, there's nothing that brings me a bigger joy.

I was over the moon to know this story not only has two worlds colliding but a whole fictional group to get obsessed with.

I can truly count on one hand the amount of K-Pop romance books I have found, and now we have another to join the club!

Nikko is part of RYSING, one of the biggest groups in South Korea and taking over the world. His group is more than just his job, they are his family. I loved the dynamic of each member and how they treated Nikko. I would say he came across as the softest of the bunch.

When Nikko is looking to have more English lessons to better his conversation skills so he can support his members during interviews, the last thing he expects is to find his forever in his tutor.

Jase, has no clue about the K-Pop Industry, despite his friend working directly in it. He's a book nerd, and that's likely where his heart will lie forever. However, Nikko may have some sway now.

Jase takes on helping Nikko as a favour to his friend. Sure there's a lot of early wake-ups, but he loves the side hustle, and after meeting Nikko, nothing excited him more than meeting him - even if it is virtually.

What starts off very innocently and cute, turns into brewing attraction. Neither know what they are in for and with secrets uncovering, stakes being raised, you would assume things would fall apart.

Teach Me K-Pop, has the perfect balance of build up and sugary sweet romance. It's a light, refreshing read which will keep you giddy and smiling for hours on end.

As a debut novel, it will have you captivated form start to end and fuel your heart with so much love for this little world. You'll be wishing it was real!

Special mention - Kaenyn King has done an amazing job of taking care of crafting this world, especially with all the cultural notes about South Korea. The glossary and dictionary adds to the whole book and helps you out if you aren't as familiar with the universe. As always, I love how reading can broaden your mind and with a dash of romance, you can't help loving this little book!

Thanks Kaenyn again for letting me read Teach Me K-Pop and being a small part in bringing it to life visually!

I fell in love with K-Pop (more specifically Stray Kids) almost two years ago, thanks to another book & a friend who fell deep into it then somehow roped me in. I am now obsessed. I have consumed any MM K-Pop book I can find and this one is by far the best I have found since becoming immersed in everything K-Pop. I ADORE Jase & Nikko. The slow burn between them is perfectly paced. You fall in love with them both while they are falling in love with each other. These two could not be from more opposite worlds and yet they found love in the most unexpected of ways.

I also love all of the side characters: the library girls (Harper especially), Nikko's groupmates, Kija, and of course Noel the tiny dog. I am very excited to see where Kaenyn takes these characters in the rest of the series.

Now time to go Google "how to become an English tutor for K-Pop idols"😏

OMG! This is the K-pop book I have been waiting for, I have read the book that inspired this one and I was disappointed in it. This one was just right. I enjoyed the whole story from beginning to end. I loved Jase and Nikko’s relationship. I highly recommend reading this book.

I cannot put into words how much I loved these characters and their journey together.

I received an ARC in exchange for and honesty review.

3.5⭐️ Very sweet and a bit cheesy. A pretty low angst read, despite their circumstances, with lots of wholesome moments. Loved the deep dive into the k-pop world and the side characters (especially Nikko’s bandmates!) and their interactions.

OMG this was so cute!! I think I smiled the entire time I was reading this. It was paced really well especially in regards to the passing of time.
I absolutely loved how organic their interactions with each other felt. You could really feel the emotions and inner turmoil over thier situation. The best part was how it all came together. There was a mostly realistic resolution for them at the end. Anyone who knows anything about the K-pop industry knows how rigid these idol's lives are. I would have been upset if it ended with some magic fix that seemed completely untrue to the lifestyle, but it didn't! It ended great and it was well done.
The fan-girl students was a hilarious and nice touch.
This story was also incredibly unique. I didn't feel like i'd read something like this before and that was so refreshing!
Loved it.
