Offers information on such historical events of the 1920s as the stock market crash, the Scopes trial, prohibition, Lindbergh's trans-atlantic flight, and the rise of the Ku Klux Klan.
I feel I should say that it isn't an overview of the American 1920s. It's actually a series of chapters written by seperate people about various aspects of the 1920s, including sports, the stock market boom and its eventual collapse, and an entire section on Prohibition which is mildly hilarious. Do yourselves a favor, guys: look up Izzy Einstein and Moe Smith. They were Prohibition agents and I want a movie about them stat.
It was useful to me, though; I was reading it for research (even though exactly none of it made it into the story I wrote). I find the America's Decades series to be pretty well-balanced and a good read if you're looking for a generalization about a historical decade in American history.
This book was very informational. Each chapter was written about a different author who each clearly knew their topic well. Each chapter was well written and easy to understand.
