📌 MMC is supposedly obsessed with FMC and goes out of his way to make sure she remains a virgin. However, he continues to be a manwhore and f*ck whoever he wants. I've only made it to chapter 4 and it's repeatedly mentioned how he likes to use/have fun with girls. He even talks about hooking up with the FMCs high-school friend just so she could walk in on the two of them.

Sometimes I forget how much I love a deranged, delusional MMC, and this book just reminded me. This man was so out of his mind obsessed he crossed every single line with zero regrets. Not to mention… he’s her stepbrother, so you can imagine how many lines there actually were to cross 😭
I had a fucking blast with this one. All I could hear the entire time was that sound:
“I hate you…”
“Yeah… it turns me on.”
These two were coming for each other’s necks the entire book, and it was so entertaining. There’s also this fun (and slightly unhinged) twist, they’re both on the soccer team, and there’s something called “The Rites” where the men’s team basically torments a player from the women’s team. Colin is supposed to pull harmless pranks… this man is out here casually drugging her and stealing her clothes. UNHINGED. 😅😂
If you’re looking for a man who’s soft only for her….it’s not Colin. Hahaha.
This book is on the shorter side, but it’s SUPER spicy. Even though Mayson tries to fight it, these two cannot keep their hands (and other things) off each other. Nothing like losing your V-card to your stepbrother 😂
It’s such a fun read, perfect for fall or Halloween. We get some mask play, a touch of primal play, and I absolutely gobbled that up. It’s fast-paced, bingeable, and just an all-around kick-your-feet, good ass time.
If you want a book where the main characters are going at it (in every way possible) the entire time, you’re going to EAT this one up.

With the Rites set to begin — after some direct threatening of his teammates — Colin begins his plans for Mayson. He drugs her, convinces their parents she’s vulnerable to stay at his campus house with him, where he enacts his control and years worth of pent up fantasies of his virgin step sister. Just normal step-brother and step-sister things.
I ate up this read, I loved Colin’s unhinged obsession, and how Mayson gives it back to him just as good. Their chemistry boils over, controlling Colin manages to keep pulling Mayson back in. As much as Mayson denies her true feelings she succumbs to the strong brute charm of her step-brother.
Love, love, loved this one! I ate this up so fast. The dark, taboo parts were written so well, and I’m always feral for Madi’s newest read!

Wanna talk about obsession and a fine line between love and hate this book was nothing short of that. I ate this up so bad😅. Wanna talk about step siblings, primal play, obsessed and borderline psycho mmc with a badass fmc??!!🫠. Well YES I’m sat I’m just a girl in love with dark romance!
I can’t wait to continue the series and as a girl that doesn’t always like bully romances, if each premise of the books are the same I think I’ll be good!

Everything I read by Madi Danielle is a book I become obsessed with and have to put on my bookshelf. Strike & Score is no different. I loved the darker elements in this book. Add in some off-limits step sibling action and some masked primal play. This book jumped to one of my top reads this year.

I feel like the author went through everything a step sibling should feel in a checklist, from the main characters to their families, and wrote how it's supposed to be. I enjoyed the book so much better because she thought of everything. From the ick factor of "that's my stepbrother," and "that's wrong." To the family choosing and feeling how they did. It made the book more realistic when it came to their feelings on the matter.
Colin, well, he was a character in his own self. He had years to process his feelings for his stepsister, Mayson. He recognized how he felt and tried to run from it. Then he realized there was no point. He was just becoming more obsessed. Did he go about trying to show her his feelings in the wrong way, absolutely, but Colin is a little unhinged anyway.
I loved his character and how he was committed 100% to this with Mayson from the beginning of this book. He had apparently been giving her a hard time since their first meeting but amped it up once she joined the same college.
They both are on the college soccer teams, and every year, the senior men's team has a rite that allows them to pick a junior female player and make their life hell. Mayson is a year younger than Colin, and everyone in his team knew he was choosing his stepsister. Apparently, he let everyone on his team know his feelings towards his stepsister.
Mayson is living in denial. She knows Colin is the one to choose her for the rite, but she doesn't understand why besides her thinking he likes to make her life hell. He's always made s3xual comments towards her, but she never took him seriously. That is until he forces her hand and makes her move in with him and really starts showing his true colors along with his package.
We go through her feelings in this book, from the this is wrong to think about, to this is wrong to feel this way, too screw what others think. I do think that Colin could have shown he wanted her in a different way than he did, but that would have made the book uninteresting.
Can I say that their parents are very unorthodox when it comes to a couple and they had no right to judge them. At least they love each other, but her mother only married for money and didn't care about her daughter's wants because she was trying to make her do the same thing she did. Then I think if the father was more present in Colin's life and maybe loved him, then Colin would have turned out more normal than he did. Colin had crappy parents, and I'm surprised he could love like he did.
If you are looking for a great step sibling romance with dark elements, then this is a must-read. I can't wait for the rest of these books to come out. Madi dropped some hints in this book with other characters participating in the rites, but 2 new authors are coming in to write their stories. I'm so excited and can't wait!!

The story in itself was a good read!
It's got the dark elements (which I love) and a taboo relationship (👀). It was very interesting to see how Colin tried to get to Mayson and the way she fought him. Both of them are so incredibly toxic and I love it.
However, I found it hard to connect to the world, the characters and just the story overall. I think most of this was due to the writing style lacking depth. The writing was (in my opinion) pretty superficial and had loads of small jumps in it. It lacked world building and scene setting. It got slightly better throughout the story (connecting to the story and the characters that is) so overall I don't regret pushing through!
I still had a fun time reading it; the plot was interesting (I'm a sucker for a taboo) and it set up a nice start to the Red Card Rites we will surely see in the other two books! I'm excited to see where those take me.

I am getting so tired of what I call the doll on the shelf trope. Fmc is made to stay virginal with her body betraying her while mmc scares people off from dating her while also claiming to be obsessed yet being a manwhore community dick. This does not give boy obsessed at all. It gives ick and if a love confession comes later, it is empty as fuck to me by then. This mmc fucking her best friend in high school on purpose for her to find so to me it just screams future cheater and I can’t invest in the character.

Now, this definitely falls into the bully romance category, but that’s exactly what made it so intense. Mayson pushes back just as hard, and the tension between them is absolutely electric. The scene where he claims her in front of everyone? Hot. Possessive. Unforgettable. They’re both equally obsessed with each other, and it makes their chemistry downright explosive.
Mayson’s world turns upside down when her mom marries Colin’s dad, giving her not only a stepbrother but a relentless tormentor. Colin makes it his personal mission to get under her skin, and when the soccer team’s senior tradition rolls around, she finally decides she’s done playing victim and starts fighting back.

Maysons mother & Colin’s father get together and get married when they’re both in high school, making them step-siblings. Colin is immediately drawn to Mayson and does everything in his power to keep guys away from her.
Now they’re both attending Northgate University and playing on the varsity soccer teams. The men’s team has a tradition where each year the senior guys on the team select a junior player from the women’s team as their mark and proceed to mess with them. When it’s his turn, Colin ensures that he gets Mayson so he can continue to fuck with her.

I was so excited for Madi's new series. I haven't read very many soccer romances but I'm going to have to say this is my favorite one. Mayson & Colin are fun, the push and pull between then and the banter was an engaging read. Madi's books are always so effortless. You can just fall into the story and the characters so easily. Colin is definitely morally grey, we also have some forbidden love (those damn stepbrothers), forced proximity (he's a wily one) and one of my all time favorites MASKED MEN. I actually feel like Colin had just the right amount of unhinged, he was possessive and obsessive to just the exact right level. Loved it. Madi was a great FMC, level headed and didn't back down from Colin's baloney!
Can't wait for the next instalment, I'm thinking it's gonna be Blake & Mads......fingers crossed!

3.5⭐️: This was fine. The plot was interesting enough and I love a good taboo/forbidden step sibling trope. I liked the dynamic between Mayson and Colin but there was a lack of depth to their relationship. The banter wasn’t bantering in a way that felt natural. Colin was unhinged and obsessive. I wanted more character development for him, something gritty to give more insight into why Colin was such an a-hole. I did like seeing a softer side to him towards the end. There was no shortage of spice that felt repetitive at times. Overall it was a quick read and nice for Halloween vibes.

This book is quite dark and very spicy. Mayson and Colin are stepsiblings and do a lot of things that siblings usaly don't do when Colin gets her to terrorise in the Rites that takes place during his Senior year. It's hot and wrong and I loved it.
