The power that awakened beneath Ophiera’s scars was never a gift—it was a promise of her undoing. As the world she knew lies in ruins, she walks the only path left to Retribution. Though the Aether blazes beneath her feet, it is her heart that turns to ash with every step. Bound by her Oath, haunted by a past she cannot outrun, and tethered to a soul she cannot protect, Ophiera must face the hardest truth of some battles are not won by strength alone.
Across the sea, Myronor begins to unearth the secrets his mother buried, facing revelations of forbidden magic, fractured power, and the suffering of countless souls. As his identity splinters beneath the weight of what he discovers, only one soul can keep his Ophiera. Whether near or far, broken or whole, he knows they are destined to walk the same path and will do anything to ensure it.
Political unrest rumbles across Erum, and beneath the shifting tides, something darker still stirs. While allies emerge in unexpected places, nothing can prepare them for the powers they must face, and the price of holding on to what has already come undone.
I really wanted to rate this book higher, but Ophiera’s “relationship” with Jasper just left a sour taste in my mouth. Maybe I’m just biased because I love Myronor and I think he deserves the world (and a faithful ekath).
