The author of more than 30 published full-length fiction novels, Jerry Jamison has been an award-winning advertising copywriter with over 60 national writing and creative development commendations during his career. As the principal of a California-based advertising agency, he has helped create and guide successful and memorable campaigns for a wide range of clients throughout the country. The “Tales of Suspense” Series (currently 18 stories), is his first foray into the mystery/thriller genre.
Busy Signal would benefit from sharper editing, improved formatting, and a faster start to the story. The blasphemy, while used in realistic situations, somewhat turned me off. Despite that, the psychological suspense, paranoia, and realistic dialogue made this an enjoyable read. I understand that Jerry Jamison wants the reader to think at the end, but I would have liked closure from the police.
There are other loose ends that I would have liked cleared up, such as what happened to the husband? While I felt that the beginning and middle were a slow build-up, I thought the conclusion should have been more drawn out. This is one of Jerry Jamison's better stories.
