After my father announced my engagement on national television, I became America’s broken First Daughter—the girl who needed saving, the cautionary tale about untreated mental illness, the perfect excuse for why I ”acted out” with three men from Omega Chi Kappa.
The Syndicate thinks they’ve won.
They’ve locked me in a penthouse. Medicated me into compliance. Erased my future and rewritten my past. Chase Harrington stands guard like I’m his property, and my father smiles for the cameras while I suffocate behind closed doors.
But Dredyn, Talon, and Jasper didn’t break into my life just to let me rot in a cage.
And I didn’t survive this long by playing the victim.
Bitter Reign is the explosive conclusion to the Omega Chi Kappa duet. A dark, why-choose romance, with a revenge plot, high stakes, and a hard-won happily ever after. Reading Stolen Innocence first is required.

So this one was definitely better for me than the last one. As I stated in my previous review for Stolen Innocence, the book didn’t pick up for me until 60-70%. So, I am glad it picked up where it left off and kept me interested. The storyline got better and more exciting. Again the spicy scenes were SPICINGGG. As far as the MMC’s Jasper really annoys me. Like I get it, you don’t want to use your voice because it never mattered before. But you can speak and you want to use sign language when your balls deep in Mara? It was just stupid. And he sometimes would speak to Mara and said that he talks to her because he feels safe with her. So, you’re telling me that you’ve been friends with Dredyn and Talon like foreverrr and call them your brothers, yet you don’t feel safe with them to actually talk to them? 🙄
As for Dredyn, I couldn’t stand him in the last book, but he had some good character development so I liked him better in this one. Talon is my favorite out of the 3, Mara is still eh to me.
Overall this book was better than the last, i enjoy KT’s writing style. But I think the main reason that I didn’t like it as much as I hoped is because not enjoying the characters in the first book so kind of had that sour taste in my mouth going into this one. I didn’t feel any kind of connection with them, and that’s a big thing for me. I didn’t hate it, but I didn’t love it. It was just ok for me.
YAAASSS!!!! OMG I LOVE THEM! I need more of them. This was not enough of a taste for me. Just like with the DSN boys, I need more of this group! UGH, they are amazing, and I love every one of them.
First of all….MARA! She is super cray cray, and I fucking love it! Love how she fights back. It’s quiet, it’s meticulous, it’s calculating, and I am so here for it. And these boys, my god, I love them. I got mad respect for Dredyn in this book. He was so intense in book one, but getting to learn and understand where that came from made me fall harder for him. And my poor baby Jasper, love him so much! These boys have taken over my whole heart, and I really hope I can see more of them eventually!
Thank you, KT Maddan, for letting me a glimpse into the minds of these amazing characters!
Bitter Reign is book two in the Omega Chi Kappa duet.
Bitter Reign was a fantastic story. It shows you the rawness of public figures behind closed doors, and reminds you of the double lives people live. Bitter Reign reiterates that people share what they want to, and you never really know what goes on behind the scenes, especially if they never want you to know. It also acts as a reminder that if they really want to, they will and nothing will stop them.
This book was amazing... I had been missing our trio since Stolen Innocence ended. I thought about them often, wondering how they were going to get their girl back, and what was going to happen with Mara and her engagement to Chase.
Bitter Reign has many dark surprises. It is a story full of high emotions and lots of tension. But gosh is it an incredible story! I highly recommend this duet and I cannot wait for what's next!
I thought I knew and I had no idea. This book twists and turns and leaves you wanting more.
We pick up where book 1 left off. They think they have broken Mara but they should learn not to underestimate her; or the men who love her. The Syndicate is powerful and all knowing can the ever win?!?
3.5 ⭐️ I did not love this book as much as book 1 and I think that’s my own problem not KTs. Overall this story was 🔥🔥🔥🔥 and the ending made me feel so jacked. The corruption/ degradation kink is a new one from me and I love it. A why choose is always the best option for me. Thank you as always for this opportunity!
“One wrong word and I’ll tear it all down for her. Always for her”
They put a ring on my finger. After my father announced my engagement on national television, I became America’s broken First Daughter—the girl who needed saving. They created the perfect excuse for why I ”acted out” with three men from Omega Chi Kappa. The Syndicate thinks they’ve won. They’ve locked me in a penthouse.
I fell in love with Mara, Dredyn, Talon and Jasper in “Stolen innocence” and in book two I fell al over again. The book takes off right where we left of in book 1 and takes you one a frustrating fast ride. The worldbuilding is once again perfect, you get even more story from the caracters and the plottwists are mindblowing. The extra help that comes from people you don’t even see coming is just wow. I hope there is more to this story cause I really want to what is going to happen with our foursome.
I really loved this book, I just feel like the end was to open. So I’m hoping for a third book. If you love a why choose with dark academia and maffia romance this book is for you, these books I mean.
The final installment of the Omega Chi Kappa series throws readers right back into the chaos with Mara at the center of it all. After the shocking events at the college where she was publicly collared and exposed, Mara is taken away by her father, leaving her trapped in a life she never chose. Instead of freedom, she’s forced into an engagement with Chase, treated more like property than a person. What was once her choice to explore submission with the men she loves is now being twisted into something controlling and suffocating. But Mara is far from helpless—especially with Dreyden, Talon, and Jasper fighting right beside her.
What follows is an intense ride filled with tension, secrets, and constant uncertainty. Mara and her men are not only trying to stay united while the world pushes against them, they’re also digging into the dangerous forces pulling the strings behind everything. Trust becomes fragile as outside influences, powerful figures, and hidden agendas begin to surface, leaving Mara unsure of who is truly on her side.
The story balances dark, provocative moments with emotional depth, pulling readers further into the twisted world surrounding the syndicate and the power it holds. The author doesn’t shy away from the darker edges of the story, weaving together intense scenes with psychological tension that keeps the reader completely immersed.
This sequel also answers many lingering questions left behind in Stolen Innocence, delivering revelations that reshape everything you thought you understood. Just when you think you’ve figured out where the story is heading, the narrative throws another curveball. The pacing shifts constantly—quiet moments of buildup suddenly explode into chaos, then pull back again before launching into something even more shocking.
One of the most satisfying parts of the book is watching Mara’s evolution. At the beginning she’s still trying to reclaim her autonomy, but as the story progresses she grows stronger, more confident, and far more willing to fight for the life she wants. Her transformation into someone who refuses to be controlled is incredibly satisfying to witness.
Meanwhile, Dreyden, Talon, and Jasper remain exactly the kind of fierce protectors you’d expect—loyal, relentless, and completely devoted to Mara. Whether it’s plotting revenge, tearing down the system working against them, or simply standing by Mara’s side, their intensity and commitment make every scene with them unforgettable.
The plot is packed with unexpected developments, layered conspiracies, and the involvement of new characters who add even more complexity to the story. Every chapter seems to uncover another secret, making it nearly impossible to put the book down.
By the end, the twists, revelations, and character growth make this conclusion feel explosive and satisfying, while still leaving the sense that this world might not be finished yet. With the introduction of new players and unresolved tensions, it definitely feels like there could be more chaos waiting in the wings.
If you enjoy dark romance filled with powerful characters, dangerous secrets, and unpredictable storytelling, the Omega Chi Kappa series is absolutely worth the ride. This finale delivers intensity, passion, and enough shocking moments to keep you guessing until the very last page.
🖤 𝓻𝓮𝓿𝓲𝓮𝔀🖤 Ashen Grove University. The campus of lies and deception. The eyes for the Syndicate, a powerful group of men that have the whole place in a chokehold. Bitter Reign is part two of the duet, which takes off where the first one leaves us. It’s full of passion. Revenge. And heavy spice that involve one woman and her men. If you had any questions left in your mind at the end of book one, book two will leave you with all the answers in this quick-paced smutty why choose that will have you pleading for a happy ending after everything Mara has been through.
*spoilers*
We take off right where Stolen Innocence left us, as Mara is paraded in front of the large crowd that has formed to congratulate her father for winning the president elect. But that isn’t enough to tarnish her because he decided it was the perfect moment to announce Mara’s engagement to Chase Harrington. The Chase that murdered Jasper’s sister, Evie. All of this in retaliation for her outburst in sleeping with all her men at the same time, making a skeptical of herself as a rebellion towards her own father.
But now, she has become captive in the home she shares with Chase, as he won’t allow her to leave his sight. Not for school. Not for a life. Ever. And he ensures that he will make her into the woman that he was made to have. She despises him, knowing the truth about what happened to Jasper’s sister. At the same time, Dredyn, Talon, and Jasper are coming up with a scheme to break her out of the prison she’s been forced to live in.
Once she belongs to them again, the only thing they have left to worry about is the Syndicate. Because the Syndicate had more in-depth plans for her and when they took Chase out of the picture, they made things shift order and made things difficult beyond their reasoning. The only way they’ll have freedom, is to take out the Syndicate themselves. A task that turned out to be far harder than they expected.
This book has chemistry through Mara and her boys, but at the same time, the protection she always deserved. Characters develop through the book, even some that changed perspective when brought forth the truth about the group of elite men. But honestly, I feel as though Asher Grove hasn’t come to an end. I feel like Maddan has something more in store for the university and the elite group of men that hide behind them. A great conclusion for Mara and her boys though.
Bitten Reign doesn’t just continue the story — it tightens its grip.
Set within the elite, suffocating world of Ashen Grove University, this book leans fully into its strengths: power, control, and the quiet, dangerous games played behind closed doors. Every interaction feels intentional. Every move feels watched.
This is not a world where people simply exist. They maneuver.
What makes Bitten Reign so compelling is the tension woven through every layer — emotional, psychological, and social. The relationships are not built on simplicity. They are built on power shifts, hidden motives, and that constant push between control and vulnerability.
The dynamic at the center of the story carries weight. There’s intensity without chaos — a slow, deliberate build where trust is not freely given, and connection feels earned rather than assumed. The chemistry isn’t explosive in a reckless way. It’s precise. Controlled. And that makes it even more addictive.
And then there’s the atmosphere.
Ashen Grove is alive with quiet menace. Secret societies, elite expectations, and the ever-present sense that something is always happening just beneath the surface. The setting doesn’t just frame the story — it shapes it. It pressures the characters. It forces decisions.
K.T. Maddan excels at creating a world where appearances matter just as much as actions. Where a smile can be strategy. Where silence can be a threat. And where revenge doesn’t need to be loud to be devastating.
Final Verdict: Bitten Reign is dark, strategic, and deeply immersive. A story driven by power, tension, and carefully controlled desire. For readers who love elite settings, secret societies, and relationships that feel like a game of control rather than chaos, this delivers exactly what it promises.
At Ashen Grove, you don’t win by being the loudest.
Bitter Reign was a great read that picks up right where we left off, immediately throws you back into everything, and from that point on it’s just twist after twist, secret after secret, and chaotic in the best way! 🤍 The syndicate, the secrets, the reveals, and the people you don’t expect stepping in, all keep your attention while everything is building and building. The tension and emotional weight were insane, and the way everything is layered underneath the surface while everything is unfolding had me in a chokehold the entire time 💚
Mara is literally the definition of strength 🤍 What she goes through in this book actually made me so mad, the way her family treats her is beyond frustrating and honestly heartbreaking… and you can really feel how much it’s breaking her down at times 😔 But I loved watching her slowly start to take her power back! She really came into her own, becoming more confident and starting to do things on her own terms, in a way that was very her 💚
And the men… Dredyn, Talon, and Jasper all had my heart by the end 🤍 Each of them loves Mara so differently, but just as intensely, and I ate that up every single time! The protectiveness, the loyalty, and the “we will burn everything to the ground for you” energy showed how much they are devoted to and care for her 😌 Getting more depth into each of them with Jasper’s trauma, Dredyn’s secrets, and Talon’s emotional depth, and also learning more about their struggles, their pasts, and the things they’re carrying, just made me love them even more 🤍
This book is dark, emotional, intense, and will absolutely have you on the edge of your seat! 💚 And the spice, is SPICYYYY 🥵 Their dynamic is mhm mhm, eyes glued to the page good 🔥 The way this wrapped up felt like such a satisfying ending for their story, but I still want more of them! I’m not ready to say goodbye to these four yet 😭
I could not wait to dive back into the Omega Chi story. I was anxiously waiting to see what would come for Mara and her men. I am not disappointed in the journey and conclusion of their story. While there may be a happily ever after in store it is one they all had to fight for. This is such an enjoyable and satisfying read for me. Full of tension, more twists, and turns, and some very satisfying revenge. I could not have asked for anything more from this book.
I loved seeing Mara work towards gaining her autonomy when it was once again ripped away from her. Her character development was amazing to experience, so strong and sure of herself, and willing to do anything for what she wants. Mara is a fitting example that a smile can be so much more than a smile, and just because someone is quiet and appears compliant does not mean they are weak.
Jasper, Dredyn, and Talon are willing to do anything to get Mara back, even when the odds are far from in their favor. I think the character growth for all the characters is amazing. It was satisfying to see all of them fight a common enemy while also fighting their own fronts. It was refreshing to see that one person was not the hero to anybody’s story. While they all fought for their own endings, they did it with the help and support of the others.
The plot took hold of me and did not let go. I loved that everything that was revealed was never truly the end of the mystery, always leaving more to be uncovered. I felt invested in these characters and all their relationships making it easy to lose myself in the story. It would be uncouth to not mention…the SPICE. The spice delivered in this book! I enjoyed this book and series and recommend it to those readers who love why-choose, dark academia, secret society type stories.
This book had me stressed laughing suspicious of everyone and fully obsessed all at the same time. The chaos started early and never stopped and I was eating it up like popcorn.
Mara cannot catch a break for five seconds and the poor girl is stuck in absolute chaos again. But watching her slowly take back control and fight for herself was so satisfying. She is strong stubborn and refuses to stay trapped and I loved seeing that growth.
And the men
Talon still out here giving dangerous golden retriever dom energy and I am not mad about it. Jasper has officially climbed the rankings because this man had me giggling every time he showed up. That quiet intense energy had me fully invested.
Dreydn surprised me a lot in this one. There were things revealed about him that I was not ready for but honestly it just made his character even more interesting. I kept side eyeing everyone trying to figure out who I should trust and the answer was apparently nobody.
The plot kept throwing curveballs left and right. Just when I thought I understood what was happening something else would explode and I would be sitting there staring at the page like excuse me what just happened.
The tension the drama the danger and the emotional moments were all working together perfectly. I flew through this because every chapter ended with me needing to know what happened next.
And that ending
Respectfully author how dare you do that to me because now I need the next book immediately.
Completely obsessed. Highly recommend if you like chaotic dark romance with protective men drama everywhere and plot twists that keep you on edge.
Oh my goodness, this ending was sooo good. I don't know how K.T. does it, but she sucks me right in.
We pick up right as Stolen Innocence concludes. Mara has essentially been "locked up" in a very controlling ivory tower. She is struggling every day but hopes that her guys will get her out one day.
Day by Day Dreydn, Talon and Jasper are uncovering and planning a way to save Mara but it's taking it's toll on them all, they just want her back and some shocking things are revealed which devastates them.
An opportunity is presented to save Mara and the guys take it but it does cause havoc for certain fathers and society. Mara is over it and wants to truly take down the organisation that has caused so much heartache for not only herself but for her men as well.
So many secrets are revealed but i know that i still have more questions that i think may be answered in the future????
Mara and her men get their happily ever after but they definitely go through so many hurdles to get there and it wasn't easy in the slightest, but i love how their relationship evolved as well as them as individuals.
Also, KT did a beautiful job of representing mental health and selective mutism. It was done with such care, grace and respect.
An amazing read! Highly recommend.
Thank you so much KT and your lovely team for the opportunity to read this story. I am forever grateful 🙏

We join Mara again. She has only ever been used for her father’s campaign and political gain. The Syndicate uses her and they both provide excuses for her, “acting out.” She is locked in a Penthouse, rewrites her future and forgets her past. She is locked in a Penthouse and Chase stands guard like she is property and not a person. Dreydon, Talon and Jasper didn’t break into my life to let me rot in a cage. And i didn’t survive this long by playing a victim.
The relationship between Mara and Jasper was favourite. I thought it was sweet that she could get him to talk when others could not. When he said he felt safe with her made me melt.
I love the character development for Dreydon and Talon. To find out more about them made me love the boys more.
Favourite quote - “One wrong word and i’ll tear it all down for her. Always for her.” Who wouldn’t want someone who felt like that - it made me melt.
I was invested in this book almost from the get go. The excitement, spice and adventure happened almost from the first page. K.T Madden writes some of the best spice scenes you could ever ask for. Its the second book in the series and i loved Mara and the boys since the beginning of book one. I did not think that I would love the second more but the character development, spice and story just made it get better and better. I enjoyed both books but the second was definitely my favourite.
Thank you so much K.T Madden for letting me read the advance copy. I hope badly there is a third book in the series ☺️
There’s a very specific kind of book hangover that hits when you finish a story and immediately realize you’re not ready to leave its world yet, and Bitter Reign absolutely delivers that feeling. From the start, this installment pulls you right back in like you never left. The pacing, the tension, the character dynamics, it all feels bigger this time, like the stakes have quietly been building and finally decided to show their full hand. And honestly, I was here for every second of it.
But what really got me, and what always gets me in this series, is the characters. They’ve reached that point where they don’t feel like characters so much as people you’ve just been checking in on. Watching them grow, make messy decisions, clash, care, it all lands in a way that makes it hard to step away when it’s over. And that’s the problem. It does end.
I closed the book already missing them. Missing the banter, the tension, the little moments that made everything feel grounded even when things spiraled. It’s that weird mix of satisfaction and impatience, like yes, I’m happy with where things went, but also I need the next book immediately because I’m not done being in this world.
So now I’m stuck in that in between space, grateful for the ride, slightly emotionally compromised, and very much counting down until the next installment. If that’s not the mark of a series doing something right, I don’t know what is.
I fully expected some backstabbing and maybe some actual stabbing but I was surprised to find that these guys were in fact not f-ing around about this girl and will use pew-pews when necessary.
So this starts out with that same Cinderella-esc storyline, Mara is trapped in that damn ivory tower again but with this guy Chase. Which of course her boys would not accept and they pull a rescue mission.
Then you're over here thinking, perhaps they'd learn and run as far away as possible but no, perhaps not. So much happens in this second part and I dove into the deep end without my floaties...
Talon, still giving that Dom golden retriever energy. IYKYK, that last conversation he has with Mara 👀 because of him seeing that THING happen in that hallway that one time 🤔 I'm skeptical of his honesty.
Jasper, this guy, this teddy bear immediately has Mara in a chokehold every time they are together. He has made it toward the top of MY list for sure.
Dredyn has developed so much in this book and I was not prepared for what was behind his door. But honestly I'm not entirely upset about it.
K.T. Maddan, respectfully, how dare you with that ending. There is so much more to this story and I can't wait for it!
Also, I take back what I said about Milo. He's cool, I guess.
THE GLOVES ARE OFF Standard betrayal? Expected. Actual stabbings? Probably. But the sheer firepower in this sequel? Absolutely unhinged. If you think this rescue is going to be sweet and sentimental, think again it’s loud, it’s lethal, and the boys are taking no prisoners. Mara is back in that ivory tower with Chase, but her guys aren't just coming for her... they're coming to burn the whole thing down.
Talon has mastered the balance between sweet and commanding, but I’m not entirely buying what he’s selling after that cliffhanger conversation. I’ve got my eye on himthat hallway scene changed everything, and now I’m wondering if his loyalty is as solid as it seems.
Jasper is the definition of a protective sweetheart. He has that huge, warm presence that makes you feel safe, but he’ll absolutely wreck anyone who touches what’s his.
We finally got a glimpse into Dredyn’s world, and it was a wild, gritty ride. I wasn’t prepared for the reality behind his door, but seeing him evolve through that chaos was easily one of the highlights of the book
K.T. Madden, how dare you with that ending?! 😭 I dove into the deep end without a life jacket and I am officially drowning. If you like your romance with a side of high octane ballistics, you need this on your TBR yesterday.
A story of revenge, redemption, and love. This was a unapologetic conclusion to the Omega Chi Kappa duet. It starts where Stolen Innocence left off. Mara Black, America's broken first daughter, is locked in a penthouse. Medicated into compliance and engaged to the monster who murdered her lover's sister. But Dredyn, Talon and Jasper aren't the kind of men that are going to let her rot in a gilded cage. When the syndicate trows an engagement party for Mara the men take their chances except Chase (Mara's fiancée) isn't going down without a fight. Mara refuses to break. Caged, drugged, paraded around a trophy, but doesn't stop fighting. I enjoyed how she developed throughout the story. The men, they would burn the world for her. The devotion they display is so admirable. Without getting into the details, because spoilers....I loved how the plot developed and the revenge was delivered. Chase was a fantastic villain, but the final moments of him were gone in a flash. This confrontation could have been drawn out more to make the downfall more sweeter. Mara her parents are a source of deep pain. More interaction with them would have solidify their manipulations and would have added weight to her rebellion and healing. You will cheer for Mara and her men!
Their carefully curated lives are unraveling. And with it, their time. But can they escape the organization that has carefully controlled their families and futures?

Holy smokes! Between the intrigue, secrets, and betrayals, this conclusion to the duet had me panicked throughout! Mara and our down bad OKC officers are ready to burn it all down or get unalived trying. Dredyn, Talon, and Jasper will do anything to keep Mara safe and what a glorious stand they make against the Syndicate and anyone who stands in their way.
Bitter Reign is a stellar send off to these characters with more to explore within Ashen Grove University. I can’t wait to see what the future holds.
If you love why choose wrapped up with a m^rder mystery, secret society, and a steamy dark academia romance, add this to your TBR!
Huge thanks to the author for the review copy opportunity. This is my honest and voluntary review
“For the ones who are always themselves. You were never too much.”
With a dedication like that I knew I was home!
Bitter Reign is a Why Choose with dark themes, including political ties and secret societies.
“You’re so fucking beautiful like this—on your knees for me, letting me use this perfect mouth. This is where you belong, Princess. Not out there, pretending to be someone you’re not. You belong right here, being exactly who you are.”
The way Jasper, Talon, and Dredyn will do anything for Mara is what gets me. I love a good possessive man (or men) who will stop at nothing to show their woman how important she is. I also love that you see Mara come to life and stand up to those controlling her.
This really is a perfect wrap on the boys of Omega Chi Kappa, and I can’t wait to see what Ashen Grove has in store for us next!!
CWs, from the author: blood play, breath play, choking, coercive control, elements of consensual non-consent, degradation, emotional manipulation, grief, humiliation, mental health struggles (including undiagnosed bipolar episodes), orgasm denial, panic, pet play, possessive behavior, power exchange, psychological domination, stalking, violence, and voyeurism. Power dynamics are obsessive and intentionally toxic.
Bitter Reign by K.T. Maddan, Book 4 of the Ashen Grove University Series - Book 2 of the Omega Chi Kappa Duet. This is a Dark Romance, Reverse Harem following Mara Black, Dredyn Steele, Talon Reed, & Jasper Thorn. 🚩🚩 This is for adult readers only (18+) as it has mature content and not suitable for underage readers. I cannot stress this enough…there are extremely dark themes so please check out the content warning before you dive in 🚩🚩
My thoughts 💭 Wow. What a journey these 4 have been in, I didn’t want it to end!!! You have to read book 1 of the duet (book 3 of the series) because this book picks up literally when that one ends. I don’t want to give too much away so I’ll quick say, I thought Jasper was my favorite because he shows a softer side in book 1 but girrrrl. The way Mara makes these boys better men, softer men is so hot. I can’t choose just one and completely understand why she couldn’t either. The fierce love and loyalty they have for her and only her and the love she returns is beautiful. K.T. Maddan ends this duet perfectly. Read this one. Read the whole series. You won’t be disappointed. I cannot wait to see what more she brings to this series!!
✨I would like to thank Author K.T. Maddan for the opportunity to read and review Bitter Reign.
K.T. Maddan you did it again by absolutely delivering an unbelievable conclusion to this addictive series!
Bitter Reign was darker, hotter, and even more gripping. It picks up right where K.T. Maddan left us in Stolen Innocence without missing a beat.
The tension in this book is unreal. With the stakes higher than they were before, the emotions hit another level, and the relationships? Evolving the way they did was complicated in the best possible way.
The characters continue to be the heart of this story. They’re messy, flawed, and everything you could ask for. Watching their growth and how they were unraveling had me staying up late because I couldn't stop reading! The chemistry between everyone is off the charts, equal parts angsty and steamy, and the push and pull dynamics kept me fully engaged in the story.
And how about the drama?! Every twist hit the way it should, and just when I thought I knew where things were going and what was going to happen, another curveball was thrown in. It’s emotional, it’s intense, and it hurts so good.
If you love dark romance with high stakes, morally gray characters, and a storyline that keeps you on edge, Bitter Reign is a must read!! 🔥📚
Mind blown 🤯 I was ready for chaos and an ending I thought but damn K T Maddan likes to keep us on our toes and not be right so prepare yourself. So much happens in this part 2, starts slow then crazy then slow then absolutely insane! But what do you expect with secret societies and people in power.
Mara’s still trying to just be free, live, live how she wants but we definitely get a badass glow up and her asserting herself more. So here for that!!
The guys well you know cheeky, committed, determined, savage, want to blow shit up is a normal day, so having them be in tune with revenge, breaking the system, saving the girl is perfection.
The plot of this book was just everything, the characters growth yes yes yes but also the more characters that also coming into play was an added element that I loved. I could not put this book down. Loved every moment.
Do I feel there’s more to come yes, do I want it yes and I’m feeling there’s key characters that came into this book more that will be delivering us more chaos and destruction yet. Definitely recommending this series.

This was a great finale to the cliff hanger from Book 1. Our poor FMC really can’t catch a break and we get to see how bad ‘The Syndicate’ is and how far their reach is. The MMC can be easy to dislike, however, if you pay attention to their backstory’s lots of things will come to light. My favourite part of the book was from the frat party to the end. I thought it was an original idea and executed well. The FMC learns how to stand up for herself in the shadow of her father while navigating 3 very different men. The epilogue answered a question I had about the group dynamic. While there is spice, it’s not the spotlight of boom 2 which I appreciate.
I’m gonna backwards by “Bound by Shadows” is on my TBR. I’m loving the Ashen Grove universe and can only hope for another MMMF story.
Triggers: as someone who has no triggers I strongly recommend that you always check your triggers and be good to yourself
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
this was exactly what I needed. exactly what I was praying for when I got my hea. this book was absolutely gut wrenching but perfect in its own way. this duet was one hell of a ride but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I am obsessed with this world and I definitely need the other two books that go into this world now too. this book is absolutely hooking. I was hooked from the first page and savoured reading it as much as my heart would allow me. I can’t wait to see what comes next. thank you for the arc.
"It took one press conference and a fake diagnosis to make my gang bang a mental health episode" - Mara.
Okay, so my heart was beating sooo fast at the last chapters of Stolen Innocence and when the cliffhanger came.. I was like, NOOOO!! 😅 I didn't want to wait, I wanted to know the outcome right away. And finally, I recieved the Bitter Reign ARC.
Mygod is this series magical!? Well, not in a supernatural way, but as in IT'S F*CKING AMAZING!! It really shows the darker sides of society, of the people with power and the ones who gets called monsters for going against them.
The mysteries surrounding them, the obstacles they have to face to get her.. Well I'm a sucker for it all. And the why choose, reverse harem? Count me in, always.. 😏🥵
I'm so deeply in love with Jasper and he's the perfect fit for Mara, even though she has them all wrapped around her finger🖤
This was just as good as the first, it's the perfect duet. I actually haven't read the two books that came before these but I absolutely have to ASAP! 🤩
HOLY SHIT. I need more of them. I know Bitter Reign is the end of the Omega Chi Kappa series set in Ashen Grove, but wow… what a way to close it out. The tension in this book had me hooked the entire time. Between the kidnapping, the twists in the plot, and everything the characters had to fight through, I could not put it down.
Dreyden, Talon, Jasper, and Mara absolutely stole my heart in this one. Seeing how much they’ve grown since the first book was honestly one of my favorite parts. They’ve all been through so much, and watching them step into who they’re meant to be felt so satisfying. Their dynamic is chaotic, intense, and somehow still full of moments that made me grin like an idiot while reading.
This book had the stakes high the whole way through, and every time I thought I knew where things were going, something else happened. If you’ve been following the series, this finale really delivers.
Bitter Reign by K.T. Maddan is the second book in a duet, following Stolen Innocence, and it picks up right where the first book leaves off, on a major cliffhanger. I highly recommend reading book one first to fully appreciate the story.
Mara truly stepped into the queen she was meant to be, and Dreyden, Jasper, and Talon were absolutely chef’s kiss. I also felt like every character got what they deserved—including Chase. Milo, surprisingly, grew on me and became a great brother, even though I couldn’t stand him (or Chase) in the first book.
The “why choose” dynamic was executed perfectly. It struck a great balance between plot and spice, and overall, the writing was strong and engaging. While the story does end on a slight cliffhanger, it works well; it leaves you wanting more and curious about both the new and existing characters. If you enjoy dark why-choose romance, I’d definitely recommend giving this duet a try.

Im sorry but finishing this book i feel insanely jealous that i dont have 1 let alone 3 obsessed and protective men in my life. Whats a girl gotta do to get someone to burn the world down for them?
I honestly loved this book more than the first and i genuinely couldnt put it down. I loved the mental health representation in it though i wish we couldve seen a little bit more. I also just overall loved their connections to eachother. Watching each of them fight tooth and nail to keep eachother safe and together was so beautiful and well hot🫠
There were times that i felt certain things were overused or redundant but overall i loved being in each of their minds and watching their growth. Though im sad their story is closed i hope we can catch glimpses of them in the future.
I genuinely cannot wait to see what happens next in this series. Thank you truly for giving me the opportunity to read and review this duet. Now i will be pulling at my prison bars waiting for the next release!!
