This book was really good considering this is the authors first book. I enjoyed this a lot and I was so invested I couldn’t put it down. I liked Faros a lot in the beginning but towards the middle I started to dislike him. I didn’t like the way he spoke to Isadora. I know he wants to keep her safe, but there weren’t reasons to yell at her or ignore her for days. That bothered me really bad, but he got better. I know Isadora is supposed to be a like that vulnerable girl, but the way they spoke to her irritated me. She can’t do this she can’t do that I needed my girl to stand up for herself and not continuously saying sorry. She did speak up for herself once but her development did get better. I do like that she wanted to help everyone during the war using her magic to heal people. She’s such a sweetheart. Now that ending wow just wow. I was not expecting that and I’m so invested. I need another book ASAP.

I was not expecting this to be such a journey. Just wow. Think Shadow & Bone with Guild and Dungeons & Dragons. I absolutely will be reading the next book.
I was not surprised by anything that happened but I didn’t care. I was excited to see how it would happen. Izzie and Faris’ relationship is so rocky in the start. Several times I found myself needing a reminder that the behaviors and expectations of nobility were like this. Bless them because it couldn’t be me. I’m not waiting on permission to speak.
I loved seeing Izzie come into her role and power throughout the story and cannot wait to see her reclaim what she has lost. It will also be interesting to see how Faris fares in this next chapter of her life. Props to the author for this world and these characters. Job well done.

I just found my new favorite romantasy!
Violets & Vipers is an epic and addictive fantasy set in a magical, fully developed world that left me spellbound. Enthralling magic, intense battles, dangerous creatures and a spicy love story - what more could you want?!
The heroine Izzie is spunky, spirited and goes through so much growth throughout the novel. I loved watching her find her inner strength, confidence and push past insecurities to become such a badass!
The slow burn romance was sexy, sizzling and full of passionate moments that make you fall in love with Faris yourself. I loved the magic woven into the story and I cannot wait to follow Izzie along on the next part of her adventure!
The second book cannot come out fast enough!

Felicity Hewitt writes in a way that invests you in the storyline right from the beginning. Characters with strong development and detailed backgrounds enrich the plot, and by the end of the book, you are proud of FMC Isadora and her character growth throughout the novel.
While navigating an arranged marriage with a husband going to war, Isadora's character shines a light on real struggles with things like self-doubt, anxiety and depression, all written delicately and with understanding.
The more she gets to know her husband, though, the harder she starts to fall, and the slow burn between Isadora and her husband is romantic with the perfect amount of spice. The added fantasy elements like monsters and magic tie a nice little bow around this exciting romantasy.

This is a solid pick for romantasy fans but a mixed bag for a non-romance reader like me. Stepping out of my comfort zone, I found its heartfelt character moments and platonic friendships genuinely touching, offering a gentle introduction to romance-driven stories. While it didn’t convert me to romantasy, its emotional warmth made the leap worthwhile.

This charming romantasy is an entertaining read. Romance, action, magic -- all the stuff I like. The next book promises to be just as much fun, perhaps more. There's right much sex, but it is tastefully done.
