Everything in the magical world is changing around them faster than they can keep up. Years of ingrained knowledge becomes a bigger handicap than helpful. Secrets shock the families, traitors emerge, and death becomes a whispered promise almost daily. Aria is tested with each new dawn, and each time she gets closer to failing when it all becomes too much. And the only one who can hold her together is the only one she can't have.
I liked this book even less than the first book. The push and pull between the two main characters was so very annoying. Aria is a very whiney, needy teenager who I felt was TSTL.
Ok so i went onto read this one like seconds after finishing the first - thats how addictive these books are.
'Treasured Secrets' left things on a cliff hanger where you are almost shouting along with Aria for Tallis to come back. 'Jaded Jewels' helps answer some of those questions left open from the first one and then gets you asking lots more.
You get to have a big "I TOLD YOU SO" moment along with Aria that is great. Lots of action packed into this one - which again is why i couldn't put down until it was done. Then it made me wish i went a bit slower as the third one isn't out yet and now i'm like twiddling my thumbs waiting for it lol.
The journey is just beginning for Aria and Tallis and i can't wait to see how it all turns out. Love this series :)
If you've read most of her books there is a lot of descriptive sex. Not in this book, just innocent love between all couples making the book more appropriate for younger readers though I don't know about book three as the main couple can now have more of an intimate relationship (He actually promised it to her, to make it special for her). All in all it was a great read, you feel for Aria throughout this whole book both her pain and her happiness. You can't help but love her and want what she wants. Again, needs proof reading as there are a few errors but not enough to distract me from the plot. Love this author and her writing. Can't wait to read the next book.
‘Jaded Jewels’ continues to unravel slowly and the plot and fantastic world of the characters and their history are brilliantly entwined together to prepare the reader for the grand finale!
***4.5 stars*** It's been over 5 years since I first read this series and thankfully it really is just as good as I remembered! I'm not only caught up in Tallis & Aria's relationship but the whole story is pulling me in, with new betrayals and new revelations/information being discovered with magic evolving that even the matriarch of the family, Iris is surprised.
The back and forth between Tallis and Aria works for their story. Aria is a mortal 17 year old, Tallis and both their families cling to the belief of what they've only ever known about soul mates and bonds which causes the back and forth between them. Yes, sometimes it did become slightly frustrating with how adamant Aria was about her feelings towards Tallis and her reactions to those feelings, also without Tallis's point of view he could come across as a bit of a martyr, although he genuinely did just have Aria's best interest in mind.
I thought Aria would grow up and stop her clingy and immature behaviour, but no, it kept happening again, enough to rush over and welcoming death. But when death knocking her door, she cowered!
Anyway, I was glad she finally got what she wanted, it’s inevitable, and I couldn’t wait for her to showcase her talents. What I’d learnt so far was history being repeated again, and it would be interesting to see how things unfold.
Henry and Amalia was a great addition to the story as well, and because they were closer to the main characters, I could get to know and remember them, unlike Aria’s siblings. Honestly, I couldn’t remember all their names and abilities. Guess, it’s because the story was all centred on Aria.
* Well, read my opinion on the first book, and you know my opinion on second! BUT... The second is a little bit better in terms of plot, grammar and spelling mistakes. And it has more angst in it. :)
this one dragged for me. I still liked it but man the drama. however I have to keep reminding myself it is a YA read so HS drama is a necessity. teenage me would of lapped this up. I still thoroughly enjoyed the plot of the book and this is one of my favorite authors so of course it's still a good read.
There was so much heartache in this book. I hated that aria was struggling so hard and no one believed her or understood what she was going through. I’m happy with the way things ended for now though.
Wow, the second book gave me whiplash with their back and forth. Also, I thought the hea won't come... Hahahaha it came sort of. I am just glad they are together. So much more drama. Can't wait to finish this series
Aria and Tallis make me so happy. I was cheering for Aria to prove Tallis and everyone else wrong lol 😂 100% recommend this book to everyone ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Let me be very clear- this was a 5 star TO ME. This series is so addictive that I binged it so fast, and when I wasn't reading it, I was thinking of the characters and what they were doing. What can I say? I'm obsessed 😆
In this book we continue to follow Aria's story from mortal to immortal and her family and friends struggles to keep her safe before the change. We also continue to see Aria's relationship with Tallis and how they're still not dealing well with their feelings for each other.
Again as in book one i love the history that comes out about all the families and what may be in stall for Aria. Also along the journey we're getting more magic and kick ass powers being shown. Ooooh its getting exciting! We also meet some new characters bad and good as well as seeing how other relationships are building. This is what i love about this author not just the main characters draw you in but the surrounding cast. You care about them too! event the baddies!!!
There were times in this book when i could have shook Tallis for trying to "protect" Aria by keeping his distance ughhhhh give her some credit and trust her a bit more!! lol
I can't wait now to get onto book 3 Rough Diamonds! I would highly recommend this book to anyone.
I don't think I was the target audience for this. The main characters are teens--and act like it. The logic is typical of an immature teenager, and I found myself irritated by it. If I'm going to read about teens, they need to be mature teens. These are not.
In this, there is a love triangle. It isn't necessary. I know that some out there love the angst that comes with a love triangle--something that I think targets a younger group. For me, I skimmed all those parts and focused on the paranormal stuff that I actually liked.
Like Owens' other books, this one made it to my "favorites" shelf. The only con...book 3 isn't out yet. Not sure when it will be released, but I can't wait to read it.
Everything is panning out, but I have a feeling we haven't seen the last of Jared. I'm sure Graven will be making a debut as well.
OMG the Angst! Tallis and Aria are being pulled apart, but they are also being pushed together! Loyalties will shift, and new players will arrive. New love interests! You do NOT wanna miss out on reading this book!
Really like this series although I was a little mad at Aria family if it was me I would so be mad at more then one thing lol I really hope part 3 will be out soon.
OMG!! Finally Aria is immortal and she and Tallis is soul mate!!!! I cannot for the next book and find out more on journey of deffenting Graven and Lokan... This book is just amazing!!!
