Timber Valley Pack #3

Hard as Steele

Rate this book
Roxanne has suffered a concussion after a severe bump to the head, but that's okay - she's having the best hallucination ever. It involves being rescued by an incredibly handsome man who can turn into a wolf and lusts after her like no man ever has before. No, really - in her home town, plain, chubby Roxanne was lusted after by no-one. Her handsome shifter hallucination is so hot, she finds herself wishing she'd never recover.

Steele Battle, wolf shifter, Sheriff of Timber Valley, has met the love of his life - and he must leave her behind, with her memory erased, because she's human and can never know about the existence of his people. A year later, he's still mourning the loss of the woman who captured his heart - when she strolls in to the bar in his remote, out of the way town, which is not on any human map. How did she find him, and what does she want? To keep her safe, Steel has no choice but to hold her captive until the town's shaman returns to erase her memory for good - but will Steele be able to part with the love of his life a second time?

Georgette St. Clair

Georgette St. Clair writes hot, sexy romances starring Alpha heroes. The road to love may be rocky and fraught with peril (and humor and scorchtastic sex and healthy heapings of snark), but her shifters will stop at nothing to claim the women they love.

Georgette has worn many hats in life: newspaper reporter, EMT, internet marketer, cocktail waitress, temp, nurse’s aide (not in chronological order).

When she’s not rescuing fur-babies, she spends her days in a fantasy universe where she nudges her smart-mouthed, take-no-gruff heroines onto paths which will set them on a collision course with true love.

Yikes.. this one was a big no, no.
The plot might have worked if the book had at least 200 pages more. In a book this short? Not really.

I could not get past the part that she feels shes dreaming just because he is able to lift her. Then the fact that she's must be hallucinating just because he's "hot" and wants to be with her. Chick had serious issues I didn't want to get past.

I am a big, big fan of Georgette St. Clair’s paranormal romance work, especially the Shifters, Inc. and Blue Moon Junction series. I especially appreciate the fact that the heroines that his writer produces are not always society’s ideal, but instead are big, beautiful woman (BBW) and definitely not the dishrag type. Her shifter covers typically feature a hot, steamy dude and his animal counterpart with an open skyline or nature setting at the bottom near the title. Hard as Steele is part of her Timber Valley Pack series which runs about 150 pages per book, making them shorter stories but excellent quality and ideal for a single day read or bedtime read.

Hard as Steele stars Roxanne, a small town cook who is rescued by a smoking hot dude after a car accident, and Sheriff Steele Battle of Timber Valley…who is the smoking hot dude, of course. Although shifter and human relationships are strictly forbidden by pack law, things get carried away. Instead of forgetting Steele (as intended), Roxanne starts to suffer from horrible bouts of amnesia…and over a year later shows up in Steele’s shifter town asking for him. The armed kidnappers from previous books are back, too, and unknown shifters come on to the scene…but what will happen to Roxanne and Steele? Shifter law dictates that anyone revealing shifters to humans must pay the ultimate price, but is a life without love really living?

I enjoyed the book, and I enjoy her work – you will not be disappointed. The book is currently going for 99 cents at Amazon, and I am sure Barnes & Noble is competitively priced.

Favorite quote of the book: “Well, you’re a hallucination. Of course you’d say that. Maybe you’re an angel, trying to cheer me up as I’m dying. Not that I mind,” she added. This is one good looking angel, she thought to herself. Thanks, Supreme Being! I really appreciate it.”

Steel Battle, wolf shifter and Sheriff of Timber Valley met the woman who was meant to be his but unfortunately she is a human and had to have her memories erased as their kind are still a secret. What happens though when she shows up at a bar in his territory? Could it be that she is the exception to the rule?

Another fun read from this author. Each book is a bit different. I liked Roxanne and you could feel the struggle that Steele felt about doing the right thing or following his heart was entertaining to read.

4-4 1/2 stars. I really loved this one. It was way different than the rest of the series. One reason is I liked the characters more. Steele was a good alpha, without being over-dominating. Roxanne was funny, smart and sweet. I thought their relationship and chemistry was a bigger part of the overall plot, and I could actually see this couple together. It also had a very exciting suspense plot line that had me guessing until almost the very end. Secondary characters were well done and entertaining too. I was disappointed in the actions of some of Steele's pack mates toward the end, but it just added another level tension. I don't feel it's totally necessary to read the others in the series to enjoy this book--the author did a great job with the backstory.

Clear away the haze

I love that Steele’s torment is finally over. Of course that kind of comes at Roxanne’s expense, but the HEA is phenomenal. There are secrets revealed, and bad guys taken down, and an entirely new way of thinking introduced. The author did a fantastic job with this story and I can’t wait to see what happens next!

Okay I'm really not sure why I listen to book three instead of started with book 1 but anyway I really really love this book and the book series I absolutely love that it has a little theme of brain injury in it due to the car accident that Roxanne had and so she's human and steele is a shifter wolf I think it's interesting that the leaders of the shifters are bunch of assholes and it's kind of like racist it's like okay if if a human and a shifter have a relationship and have a baby and get together then that's that's a crime punishable by death that's like really insanely narrow-minded but I think it just goes to show that you know it's similar to to you know racist people and power which is humans so it's interesting how it's similar but basically the protocol for shifter if they have sexual relationships or whatever with a human they have to cut out ties and then they have to find a shaman to wipe their memory this is kind of common with other paranormal romance books but that's more like with vampires I haven't seen that so much with shifters that I remember anyway so what ends up happening is the shaman really did a horrible job on the memory wipe of Roxanne and basically she ends up kind of getting mentally ill because she keeps forgetting things that she remember things and then it becomes you know what it's affecting her whole life she can't like live her life because she forgot and everything so but it's interesting there's a reason why this happens and it's interesting in the book so there's also a lot of crime against shifters so humans against shifters but then there's also shifters against humans so it's like it's kind of interesting but definitely definitely should listen or read this book because it's an eye-opener and it makes you really think about things in life a lot but I absolutely love Roxanne and steele together they definitely have a chemistry and such a really great romance it's so great and they have a cub together in the cub is so adorable and he's so great I'm sorry that I have to ruin it for this one but this one is like I just have to but they're still a lot of things that you really have to read the book to to get into that but the punishment that steele gets in the end for being with a human is absolutely ridiculous in my opinion it's just segregation that's what it is

from the first moment I seen this book, I wanted it. it looked interesting and Georgette St. Clair is my QUEEN, so I had to have it and when I had it, I couldn't stop reading it. the writing was great, the characters entertaining, the female characters was oh so funny and the story was mesmerizing.

our main characters: Steele "I love you forever" Battle and Roxanne "who are you and where am I?", damn, they were so cute together and I really love them as a couple. Roxanne was so funny, like thinking he was an hallucinations and Steele was so damn sexy man and fought for what was right - that's how a real man looks like.

it was a great book, wonderful characters and interesting story. and I do recommend it:)

Suspensful engaging story, charming warm MC's and captivating side characters. There was a lot of buildup to his character and this didn't let me down. Another pretty girl that doesn't know shes pretty. The in the story was an obvious guess from the beginning but trying to find out how everything would work out was still a fun ride. I think I'm just a sucker for that kind of leading Male. Nomz Steele!
That's a hell of an imagination thinking .

well I believe this story so far is my favorite and I wouldn't have thought so I like the first one very much but this story oh wow a human and a shifter and things are happening on the second underlining story going through these books. I don't want to give anything away but I will tell you that Maxine (narrator) does an absolute fabulous job the story is very gripping this one you won't want to put down until you find out what happens but I believe there might be a little bit more going on so I'm going to hop into the next story and I'll let you know how that one rolls

This is my favourite so far. There is an ongoing story about a military group who has been targeting and kidnapping shifters. As well there is the story of Steele, the sherriff of Timber Valley who falls in love with a human. A big no no in the shifter world. It could mean death. Roxanne's world is tilted when she finds out Steele is a wolf but that's not all she finds out. If you like shifter books it's a good read but you really need to read the first two to understand what is going on.

In I really like this series but how this book ends makes me not want to read it any more. The counsel has been on my nerves sense book one but in this one they went too far. And no mention of the pack taking up for Steel. You can't choose who you fall in love with and he is being asked to. I hope in the next book they try to change this. If the counsel's ruling stands I don't think I want to read anymore about a family that basically disowned you because of who you love.

This is amazing! Although there were a few moments where I got a bit lost, everything fell into place in the end. I am absolutely hooked on this series and can't wait to keep going. I've also devoured the Blue Moon Junction series by St. Clair, and it was beyond phenomenal. Her work never fails to impress me!

Hard to Steele by Georgette St clair. When I found out Steele was the MMC in this one it made me happy as his character development from the first two books was well deserved and done. And then when you found out his mate was human born. Made it even better. Also the story arc of the secret organisation in this book was chef's kiss

All you need to know is that a 6month old Baby turns into wolf and fights the bad guys in the finale, wtf? The FMC was 9months pregnant and had no idea, until the last minute. How does the author come up with this stuff? Also this is the most bizarre plot so far. Just wacky for no reason. Such great comedic entertainment.

well, I thought I was at the start of a series and found myself in the middle. No worries, I suppose. I can always jump back as this book seems to be written more as a standalone than a part of a series. The ending was a bitter sweet closure and I look forward to reading more.

Usually werewolf romance books never disappoint. They are my happy place, but this was to blah for me. I'm aware that is not a review, but that's how I feel. The books from middle to end of the series where better, but these few at the binging just don't cut it.

Incredible story

So far this is the best of the series. Kidnapping ring is exposed and the hypocrisy of the shifter council is also exposed. Steele and Roxanne rock as heroes of a different kind.

I have submitted this review after listening to the audiobook of this title. (Audible Membership)
Saving a woman in a snow storm leads to complications in both their lives.
However, regardless that she was human and he was wolf shifter, their love sees them through a very traumatic time.
