When a fishing feud turns deadly, our heroes must sniff out the truth before the killer strikes again!
Professional dog trainer Bea Whitman has built a peaceful life in Palm Harbor with her therapy dog Luna and mischievous French Bulldog Max. But when Detective Martinez disappears and local fishing legend Harold Coleman is found dead during the town's prestigious Atlantic Arsenal Fishing Tournament, Bea's keen observation skills—and her dogs' remarkable instincts—are suddenly in high demand.
As Bea investigates, she uncovers a decades-old rivalry between the Coleman and Preston fishing dynasties, a feud that originated with a tragic boating accident and the mysterious death of a beautiful young woman named Eleanor Gardner. With both families harboring long-buried secrets, a newly discovered heir to the Coleman fortune, and a valuable fishing empire at stake, the suspect list grows longer than a championship swordfish.
The closer Bea gets to the truth, the more dangerous her investigation becomes. Town gossip Martha Wheeler and handsome local veterinarian James Crawford join forces with Bea and her canine companions to unravel the tangled web of deception. But as they close in on the killer, Bea realizes they might be setting the perfect trap—with her as the bait.
A charming coastal setting, lovable canine companions, and a puzzling mystery make Deep Trouble a perfect summer cozy mystery read that will delight fans of Miranda James, Krista Davis, and Sofie Kelly.
This was a fairly good plot, but the editing is getting ridiculous. The author placed a hook at the end of the book to get you read the next so I will try one more in series.
After reading the first five books in this series a few comments: I've really enjoyed these books and have read one right after the other; I especially like that they are good, clean mysteries- no foul language or steamy sex scenes many authors seem to find necessary to include; I also love the quirky animal companions that add so much to the story.
Bea finds herself caught in the middle of another murder mystery, including the discovery of previous unknown child, now an adult, right after someone dies . I love these stories especially with Max and Luna as unofficial detectives.
