Very hot buttttt…
The Fmc came into the scene holding a lot of anger and bitterness towards the mmc and without having a thorough conversation, they jumped straight into their bdsm dynamic.
This seemed very dangerous and made the Fmc look clueless and unsure, which is not safe for someone who is a dom (or sub, but especially dom).

The book was not what I expected. When the blurb conveys it's a FemDom book I thought of a much more interesting BDSM story but it was more about inner thought and emotional stuff. I didn't like that. The communication was not at all present and the story didn't give the FemDom vibes at all. It was more love and attraction rather than being dominant. The FMC was herself in doubt about herself. It could have been a lot better.

I dnfed at 40% because the female MC was just so bitter and full of anger towards her sub and I really didn’t liked that the story started like this.
And even if your sub had messed up in a few things that’s not the way you shouldn’t act and that she had already a picture in mind of how her sub should be, like that he should be perfect from the start in everything, was such a red flag for me.
I mean no one is perfect and no one ever will be and what made it even worse is that she acted toward him like that even tho she knew that he was totally new to this world, so how the hell should he have been „perfect“ if he never experienced this whole dynamic 😭😭😭 Idk for me this all was messed up …

If I was into degradation and humiliation I would have 5 starred this book but unfortunately I'm not so some things were just abit icky for me and made me want to vomit 🤣🤣
In saying that, I thought this book was written really well. Yes the domme has a lot of built up anger but she has reason to be, her pet abandoned her, ghosted her and broke the rules of their agreement. Being a short book it doesn't delve a whole lot into how their dynamic started but it clearly states that they had lengthy discussions, clearly discussing limits soft and hard. Yes the pet gets degraded and punished but he is into it so much and understands why he needed to be punished. The domme pushed him to his limits until he safe worded but isn't that the point? How else do you find your limit? The second he safe worded she jumped into after care and did it perfectly, again something they had clearly discussed previously and the domme had everything she needed to make her pet feel safe and happy. Remember, he isn't just her sub but her pet, something again obviously discussed before they started their dynamic. Yes the domme gets angry sometimes but she never goes too far and stops when he safe worded her. There is always going to be a first and second time when starting out in the BDSM world, I think this book was really well done and perfectly showcased the dynamic of domme and pet, also how in the BDSM world you're always learning, especially with a new partner.

I was fortunate enough to receive an ARC for Heel’s relaunch. I don’t read much about Femdom, so I wasn’t sure if I was going to truly like this novella. But I was pleasantly surprised.
Something about Elliot’s writing style worked for me. Beyond the story, I just enjoyed the way the novella was written. And I was very please to find that the story really did fit the novella format, rather than feeling like an underdeveloped novel.
I found the story to be very engaging. This was somewhat of an emotional read, meaning that there was a focus on the inner thoughts, feelings, and insecurities of the characters. I thought that really helped with the development of the characters and portrayal of BDSM.
Overall, I would say this was a short but spicy read with plenty of heartfelt emotion and self-discovery. I would classify this more as erotica than romance, because for me the focus really was on the characters working through their own inner feelings and growth to determine if their relationship can proceed. I gave this 4 stars.

Loved this book, and it's not normally a genre I read. Fem/dom is still learning how to be a good dom and how to deal with a pet that ghosted her. He's just gone through a divorce, and he's trying something new.

this was interesting to say the least but I still semi liked it!! but Pet just felt really too disobedient to be truly in their relationship, but hey what do I know? :,) & Mistress? she DEF needed to be more prepared (aka calmer) before agreeing to meet, her pent up anger was not safe going into it though I chose this for the spice (obvi) this was more emotional turmoil and learning how to recognize your feelings when you don’t want to with a splash of BDSM

surprisingly good read
I started reading this book thinking, ok quick smutty read, but I was somewhat wrong. While yes there is spice, I was surprised at the amount of vulnerability shown by both characters. Instead of straight to the unrealistic smutt ( which I know I usually love) there were check ins, thoughtfulness, and aftercare. Definitely a book I plan on rereading.

This was supposed to be a "happy for now" storyline but we barely got to see the dynamic between the two. The story felt incomplete to me. I especially did not like the bitterness the dom held towards her sub. Her impatience got to me.

I was expecting smutt and got so much more. The characters are complex and strong and broken, and teaching and learning. Honestly, my heart was going through a rollercoaster of emotions. How Shannon Elliot was able to put such complexity in a novella is astonishing. I loved every minute of it.

what a crazy, wild ride this book has been, ohh and how much I have enjoyed it.
there is some plot that helps to spice up the spice. and the spice, "Chef's kiss". I enjoyed the back and forth and how theough ups and downs the carracters can connect. well worth the read

This short does a breathtaking job describing a dom/sub relationship on the emotional side as well. Its beautiful written tk showcase both people emotions throughout and what they get from the relationship as well as give. The plot is there. It's small as it's a novella, but it is solid. Our FMC is curvy. Confident dom. And I LOVE IT. This beautiful curvy spitfire. We get a brief dynamic of her having a Dom as well. And what dhes looking for long term. For how short the book is. The author did a fantastic job showing inside the look at BDSM and the lifestyle.
