this is the perfect introduction to the story and i love how incredibly wholesome this story feels. we start off somewhat similarly to the story of Rapunzel (except for more lighthearted) with a girl who dreams of venturing out to the real world and keeps her curious mind fed with books. she’s stuck in her little home with her grandmother who won’t tell her why she can’t leave. then, one day, a blue light leads her to a cursed boy… and the whole adventure starts from there.
it is so cute and i couldn’t stop reading!!! the artstyle kind of reminds of me of chibi and i know i’ve already said this but i just can’t explain how cute it is. this is a really light, quick, and simple read that definitely made me feel satisfied and happy by the end of it.

you can find the full story on webtoon and i definitely recommend reading it, especially if you want to quickly raise your number of books read. i can see myself finishing the whole story in the future but for now, i’ll stop at volume one (covers episodes 1-17). if you like an adorable and sweet story with some adventure, this one’s definitely for you!

okayyy so im actually pretty excited for this one! the cover art looks beautiful :D
My thanks to NetGalley and Wattpad WEBTOON Unscrolled for an eARC of this book to read and review.
The artwork is pretty and one scene would have made me do a spit-take had I been drinking at the time it was so funny. The story...eh. I really, really REALLY don't like the "don't tell the MC ANYthing 'for their own good' as part of the 'plot' so we can have the MC's lack of knowledge be what drives the 'plot' forward" style of writing. It makes me think of the Harry Potter books, and not in a good way.
Yes, if the Grandmother had told her granddaughter everything BEFOREhand, the MC would have been making intelligent decisions based on reason and wouldn't make the right decisions because "it felt right" and then REALLY bad decisions because "she didn't know any better",
I like my MCs making intelligent decisions with as much of the information as they have at the time, which should be more than "eeny meeny miny MO!" I also like them making bad decisions that are in character for them. I don't like Forced Ignorance as a character trait.
Also, cliffhanger ending, so blah.
Not a bad book, the story isn't horrible, the love interest seems cute and sweet and the artwork was pretty, so it has a lot going for it. Don't let my review deter you from reading it if you want to give it a chance.
2, not my fav flavor but it might be yours, stars.

I really enjoy anything to do with fairy tales. Especially when it’s playing on an already existing world and expanding on it. While the world of Raven Saga is, for the most part, a new exciting one, we’ve already met a couple familiar faces. Well, I think we have. They didn’t say their names, so I’m not sure if Mother Goose, the Pied Piper and Peter Pan are the people we met, but they did look a lot like them. So I’m assuming that at some point we’ll be getting a lot of others as well.
We begin our story with a mystery. Wen has been kept, by her grandmother, away from the world. She dreams of one day seeing the ocean and exploring all the sights she’s only read about in books. But when a mysterious boy (Corliss) and his talking bird show up, she steps out of her safe haven to help them. This triggers a collapse of the force field around their home that was keeping all danger out (and her in).
When her grandmother is kidnapped, the three of them set out on a journey to discover why she’s been locked away and where they can find her. But one mystery definitely turns into two, which turns into more and we have an adventure story that keeps you guessing about every single person they meet and what could be just around the corner.
This was a fun WebToon that, while I’ve never heard of it up until now, will keep me coming back until I finish it. I decided to look up which ones were getting printed by WebToons Unscrolled in the near future so that I can discover new stories to fall in love with. It worked!
Raven Sage is for fans of Once Upon a Time, Studio Ghibli, and Disney movies. It’s an adventure mystery for people of all ages and a quick read.
this was such a delightful and cute read! i loved the art and illustration style so much and i found the character design beautiful.
volume 1 was such a captivating introduction to this series and i’m already so, so curious about how fairy tales are interwoven into this series, especially everything related to development of the world building, the plot and how the magical elements in this world work, and the character arcs—all of it is just getting started in this volume.
i adored wen, grandma clarimonde, corliss, and theo so much and i just want to protect them and keep them out of harm’s way throughout their journey. the ending to this volume was abrupt, but nevertheless it still left me hooked and looking forward to the next volume.
special thanks to NetGalley and to Wattpad WEBTOON Book Group / WEBTOON Unscrolled for the e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Thank you to the publisher for providing me with a digital arc in exchange for an honest review.
4.5 stars!
URGH, this was so cute! I’m in love already. The characters are so cute I just wanna squish them. No but truly I’m already so invested in the adventure of these characters, who are just immediately so lovable.
Also, I love a fairytale type story, and I’m such a fan of the way this story is already seamlessly weaving in classic fairytale ideas and references. But in like a new way that doesn’t at all feel like a copy paste of the classic stories. Can’t wait to see how this world will build.
And the art. Can’t have a phenomenal graphic novel without stunning art – and this art is perfect. So pretty, so cute, so whimsical.
Thank you Wattpad WEBTOON Book Group and NetGalley for providing me an early copy of this in return for an honest review!
An adorable graphic novel! The main characters, Wen, Corliss and Theo, are so sweet and you really route for them from the get-go. There’s a great set up of mystery which keeps the reader intrigued. I flew through this story, especially towards the end of volume one!! Going to run to WEBTOON to see what happens next 🏃♀️
This is suitable for all ages! I love a fairytale story, this had elements of the originals while being its own concept which I enjoyed.
My one thing is I was sometimes unsure whether I was reading left to right or up to down. The formatting may have been my own issue/misterpretation however 😅
Thank you to Webtoon Unscrolled and NetGalley for a eARC of this book. All opinions remain my own.
Raven Saga is the story of a story named Wen, who is cared for by her grandmother. Wen is forbidden to go beyond the barrier of her home for undisclosed reasons (but her grandmother promises to tell her someday). One day Wen encounters a mysterious boy who has fallen unconscious right out the barrier. She goes to help him, but by doing so she breaks the barrier spell. After the barrier falls, a villainous sorcerer kidnaps Wen's grandmother for her magic. Wen's grandmother tells her to find the Morning Star to get answers about the reasons why Wen was protected. Wen also finds out the boy is named Corliss and he's inflicted with a curse: to give anyone anything they ask of him, even the clothes off his back. Together with Corliss's bird companion Theo, they journey to find the Morning Star and rescue Wen's grandmother.
I love the art style, it conveys the fairy tale atmosphere perfectly. However I'm left frustrated by the plot. There's an intriguing premise but it's too fast paced and we get many more questions than answers. However I'm still planning to read the next volumes.
Full of beautiful illustrations, this felt so whimsical and cute. The plot sort of reminds me of tangled with how Wen has been kept away from the outside world and she's only just now getting to experience it and discover all the things she's missed out on. The ending was a bit abrupt but overall this was a nice light read.
This was so cute and sweet! I first heard a friend talk about this series but at the time it was only on Webtoons so I kind of forgot about it until I saw it pop up on an Amazon preorder list last year and have been waiting eagerly ever since to finally read it, and it did not disappoint!
The art is gorgeous and whimsical, perfect for the fairy tale vibe and setting this story takes place in, and I loved all the nods to and even characters from lots of fairy tales that live in this world and interact with our leads; I love that idea, it’s so fun without having to commit to any one tale to retell.
Wen (which I’m guessing is pronounced like Ren maybe?) is a delightful bundle of curiosity and joy, naive and sheltered but smart with a good head on her shoulders; she actually reminded me a lot of Rapunzel from Tangled, and her design is so cute that when she smiles I can’t help but smile too. Corliss is a sweetheart with a lion’s courage and I love him so much, not to mention he and Wen are super cute and naive but doing their best together and they’re so adorable as friends, which I hope leads to more later on in the series though I’d be totally fine with them staying just friends too! I’m so curious about how and why he’s cursed, and about both of their mysterious backstories honestly, but I also don’t want to overlook Theo in the character department because he’s amazing and has to keep his naive chaos children in line and alive, haha. I also love Wen’s relationship with her grandmother, it’s so sweet and wholesome.
The way things ended though…!!!! I have to wait until JULY to find out what happens?! Rude! (The only downside to reading a series as it comes out, ugh) I’m wondering how they’re going to escape their situation but also what will happen or how they’ll react to a certain character after everything is all said and done, if that character is even going to do what I hope they’re running toward—I’m sooo curious, July can’t come soon enough! (Only in this case though because I hate the summer heat as a whole and don’t wish for that to come faster than it already does, ugh)
I’m so happy I read this adorable volume and I’m so excited to see where things go next!

This is such a cute, whimsical comic. I love the art style. It’s adorable! I love how it is an original story, but incorporates aspects of well known fairytales.
Wen lives in this adorable, cozy, little farm with her grandmother. She loves to read and hang out with the animals. She dreams of seeing the world beyond their home, but her grandmother is constantly telling her it’s not safe for her to leave. One day everything changes when she meets a boy and his talking bird. They must embark on an adventure together to save her grandmother.
I look forward to seeing what happens in the next volume😊
Thanks to Netgalley and Wattpad WEBTOON Book Group for the Advanced Copy in exchange for my honest review.
this middle grade fantasy webtoon series is so cute! howl’s moving castle meets every classic fairytale retelling where a girl who’s never stepped into the world adventures with a cursed prince and a pied piper to get her grandmother back from an evil mage.
the raven saga has every fairytale element that anyone would like: talking animals, evil vs. good storyline, a budding romance, and lots of mystery surrounding the identity of our main female protagonist.
this volume covers chapters 1-17 of the official webtoon. i will only be reading this for now as i feel too old for the story and the characters’ childlike characterization haha ❤️ nevertheless i would recommend this. perfect for fans of elizabeth lim and sue lynn tan.
I adore this comic! I’ve read the webcomic version twice already, and now this copy and I loved it so much. The art style is just so clean and whimsical. The storytelling is intriguing.
There were a couple moments where the formatting confused me, but that could just be me.
Content warnings: fantasy violence and magic

Thank you NetGalley and Wattpad WEBTOON Book Group for a chance to rea Raven Saga, Vol. 1
This was so fun! The art style was super cute and got me really intrigued because it just kinda had this flow I don’t know. Although it did take me a while to finish this. I’m not sure why but it wasn’t bad! The ending deserves the .5
This was such a cute and delightful read! I love everything fairytale related so it’s no surprise that I loved this. It was such a nice blend of familiar tales with a new spin on them and it was done so well. I absolutely fell in love with the characters and I can’t wait to continue the series.
Thank you to the publisher for a gifted copy of the book.
3★ Raven Saga was recommended to me by my close friend FoxyIsla. At first, I was wary of the world and plot, but it was fairly enjoyable! I hadn’t read any physical graphic novels (I’ve read some on Webtoon) previous to this one, so my review might be a little biased.
Protagonist
Wen was slightly annoying at some points of the story. I feel like even someone who has been isolated their whole life still would be more polite than Wen was. I was raised in a household without men so I didn’t meet one until I was almost five years old. I had realized even at that young age that they were basically the same as I was. After Wen had almost drowned, she got a little more snapped back into reality, but she still acted like her Grandmother hadn’t raised her to be socially acceptable. Wen had some character development, but she was still annoying and naive.
Antagonist
I honestly feel like Hamelin was the obvious antagonist. I almost wish that the author hadn’t justified him. Some people are just evil just to be evil. Hamelin didn’t feel like the kind of person to feel bad about what he did. He was trying to save his family, which I believe took superiority over people that he had just met. He had saved them in the past, so I don’t quite understand why he had tricked them from the beginning, save them, continue to lead them into a trap, and then contradict all of that by wanting to go back. Readers didn’t trust him, and I feel like the author should’ve just kept the trust or lost it completely and not do the whole back and forth thing.
Plot
This plot reminded me of something, but I couldn’t quite place what it was. Maybe it was Rapunzel, but I’m not positive. I feel like it was a blend of stories which isn’t a new and original idea. The plot twists were predictable and boring. Also, the author didn’t quite explain WHAT the stories were, HOW that world became that way, WHY Wen’s grandmother locked her inside, WHO the villain actually was, and WHEN this story took place. There were many plot-holes I could get into, but I’ve only read the first volume so I’m not sure if those gaps get filled in the other volumes. (FoxyIsla says: They probably do!!)
My Overall Review
Now that we’ve gotten through the negative comments, we’ll move on to the positive ones :). Like I said in the beginning, I actually enjoyed this book. Will I go out of my way to read the other volumes? No. Will I be upset if someone lent it to me? Also no. This book wasn’t terrible. I read this book in 40 minutes flat, but it was so fast paced that I’d be like “OK we’re walking through a village! Cuteeeee.” and I’d zone out for five seconds and be like “WAIT HANG ON SHE’S DROWNING NOW?!?!?! DID I MISS SOMETHING?!?!?!” I feel like most graphic novels/comics are very quick moving though. I loved the drawing style, it was so cute and whimsical. This is strange, but I also loved the feeling of the pages. Again, not a huge fan of graphic novels, but this one was very pleasant to read. Just a reminder, just because I’m rating this low doesn’t mean it was a bad book. I just didn’t love it although there wasn’t anything blatantly wrong with it.
With the atmosphere of pure, simple fun, these pages hint at familiar tales while weaving a completely new story of its own.
Wen has lived with her grandmother as long as she can remember on the small piece of land in a clearing in the forest. She enjoys her life and gets along with the animals very well, and Grandma makes sure to bring her gifts and lots of books when venturing into town. There's only one thing Wen isn't totally happy with; their land is spelled and protected, meaning she's not allowed to step beyond the rock border. Although she dreams of one day seeing the world beyond, she also knows her grandmother only has her best interests at heart. When an odd light zooms in from the outside, it beckons to Wen in a way she can't ignore, and before she knows it, she's beyond the border and into the forest. Here, she discovers an injured prince with a flower insignia on his ring. While her grandmother is very upset, the old woman reveals that she's been waiting for a prophesied flower to appear, and this might be exactly it. Just as her grandmother is about to reveal the truth about Wen's past, a boy with crows attacks and steals the grandmother away. But before she completely disappears, she's able to tell Wen to find a certain individual and makes the prince promise to protect Wen until this task is complete. But that's going to be easier said than done.
Wen is everything a fairy tale heroine should be: innocent, friendly, and very kind. Her isolation has left her with a naive purity, which makes her enjoyable to follow and root for, especially since she's not completely stupid. She might have a lot to learn, but she's quick to realize mistakes and knows when to stand her ground. It will be fun to see what happens to her in this series, since there is quite a bit of room for character growth. With the prince, who is facing an odd curse, and other characters, such as the Pied Piper and Jack, the one who defeated the giant at the top of the bean stalk, there are all sorts of surprises. Not everyone is kind, and many characters are even gray.
The graphics carry a hint of light, bubbliness. Still, the needed tension and emotions come across clearly to keep the tale from growing too sweet or simple. The text slides right along to keep everything flowing. It's a nice balance between the two and keeps boredom away. While there are moments of tension and hints of darker elements, this story holds gentle humor and innocence close to ensure a light fun the entire way through. And this fits very well to the characters and plot.
I'm really looking foward to seeing where this one goes next because Wen has quite the adventure before her
4.6 ★ Raven Saga was a book I enjoyed so much. I had seen it on Webtoon a little bit ago, but I didn’t start reading it then. But when I saw the book version at my library, I decided to pick it up and try it. It was much more whimsical than I initially thought it might be, and I’m so glad that Raven Saga wasn’t like that.
The book started off with a girl, Wen, living in a cottage with her grandmother, guarded from the world. When a light leads her to a boy unconscious outside of her safety barrier, Wen ventures out of the barrier, breaking it. With the barrier down, a mysterious person sends ravens to kidnap the grandmother. From here, the story starts. Wen sets off with Corliss, the cursed prince she found outside the barrier, to find the “Morning Star” her grandmother told her about while being kidnapped. The sheer amount of imagination to create this place so wonderfully and beautifully is amazing. I was pulled at the first page and was continued to be pulled in by the mystery surrounding the plot and the interesting world created by Chihiro Howe. I thought at first maybe it was one of those books where the plot makes up for the main characters having not too much character development, which can be entertaining, but not the best. But, and I’m not an expert in this, I feel like there still is some attention to detail and character development. This is only the first couple chapters, but after Wen almost drowns, she’s less enthusiastic about water than she used to be. And I feel like Corliss starts to be a little less nervous in public than he originally displayed. The world was a little less explained than fantasies usually are (at least from what I’ve read), but it wasn’t too offputting for me. I didn’t even notice until a friend (Someone Exists) told me. Even a couple of the plot twists in the first few chapters were unseen. I didn’t foresee the cliff fall or Hamelin’s betrayal, even though I probably should have (I’m too trusting, help…). If you like alternate versions of fairytales, like Jen Calonita’s Fairy Tale Reform School, this may be a good book to put on your shelf or in your library bag! I personally would, and definitely will, go out of my way to either pick up the next book version or start reading the Webtoon right now!!

This volume collects episodes 1 to 17 of the enchanting WEBTOON comic Raven Saga.
Wen lives in a cottage in a forest with her grandmother, She's never been outside the property line. Never met anyone in the near by village. Wen likes to read books her grandmother brings back to the cottage after she goes to the village. She dreams of far off places she reads in her books, and to finally hear the ocean.
One day, a unknown prince falls just outside the barrier and Wen crosses over to help him. This breaks the barrier of magic keeping her safe. In the confusion a flock of ravens and their commander a mysterious boy, capture Wens grandmother. Wen and her new friend decide to travel together to unlock the mystery of the forest, her past and what her future has to hold.
On their journey the Price and Wen don't yet know, is they are both more connected than they could have ever thought.
This story already has me invested. It spends some time giving you background info and introductions on the main characters as well as a bit of info on where the plot may be going. Even though its the first volume it still drew me in. The art is lovely and the color pallets works fabulously.
You can definitely see that the main characters are going to have a deep connection and that their own stories are tied together. This very much has an old school fairytale feel. Magic, Curses, Far off castles, and adventures to be had. I'm super excited for volume two.
Volume one is family friendly and appropriate for middle grade readers and above.
Thank you NetGalley and Wattpad WEBTOON Book Group | WEBTOON Unscrolled.
Wen lives in a little cottage deep in the forest with her grandmother Monde. For Wen though it's also a prison, her grandmother refuses to allow her to leave and has even put up a magical barrier to keep her their. Wen knows its for her safety but since her grandmother won't tell her why Wen is less and less willing to follow the rules. One afternoon a bright light envelopes her and while she doesn't understand why she knows she has to follow it, without even thinking she crosses the magical barrier where the light leads her to a young man sleeping half naked in the forest! Fearing he's injured she brings him back to the cottage not knowing she's taken the first step in her own grand adventure!
I love stories like this! Wen, Corliss, and Theo (Corliss's friend who is a talking bird) get to meet up with all sorts of easily recognizable fairy tale characters who so far are not as endearing as we remember them to be. The Pied Piper sells them out to Jack the Giant Killer who may or may not traffic in humans. I think what I liked about these existing characters being a little twisted is it really allows Wen and Corliss to stand out as the true MCs of their story. Well-known characters may be galavanting across the pages but their stories, at least so far aren't overpowering Wen and Corliss's.
This was honestly just an adorable fairy tale and I am definitely going to be continuing this series!
As always thanks the NetGalley and Webtoon Book Group for the eArc!
A nice introduction to a new fantasy graphic novel series! Since this was the first volume, we mostly spent our time being introduced to the world and characters. The art style is very charming. You can definitely tell that the adventure is just getting started, as most of the action happens at the end of the book. I’m curious to learn more about the other world and Wen’s grandma. There are hints at her grandma having a mysterious past. However, we as the reader are both in the dark as much as our main character. I’m also interested in learning more about the back story of the other characters. I really enjoyed that most of the characters are ones found in fairytales! If you love fairytales and their tropes I think you’ll enjoy this! I wish more went on plot wise in this book, but it is the beginning of a series. I found the ending rather abrupt. At least with my digital ARC it just ends on a final panel, leading me to wonder if there was more in the book and my copy was cut short. Typically there is an “about the author” or some sort of end pages, but this edition did not have that. I assume the page it ended on is the ending of the first volume though! I look forward to reading more!
*Thank you to Netgalley & the publisher for an ARC in exchange for my honest review!*
Read in one sitting, Raven Saga, Vol. 1 offers a beautifully illustrated graphic novel. A good, evenly paced narrative flow and a cast of wonderful and interesting characters.
I thought the artwork combining fresh art and colour was stunning. The story board was easy to follow and included a lot of movement. I never felt lost trying to work out who was speaking or the order of the panels which worked well reading on a tablet.
Character cutaways were thoughtful; using expressive colour to show change.
The expressions of the characters were delightful in more relaxed/ comical of the scenes and brought tension relief. I often caught myself chuckling at them.
The story was left on a cliffhanger and I just wanted to know more. There feels like there could be a lot of depth, legend and background to this story.
Overall, it was a feel good story and a great way to kick off my new year's reading.
My thanks goes to NetGalley and Webtoon for providing an eARC in exchange for an honest review. It was an absolute pleasure to read and I would love to read more in the future.
I received an advanced copy from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. In a world of fairy tales and whimsical creatures, one young girl named Wen lives with her grandmother within a magical barrier. She’s been told all her life to never cross the barrier outside her farmstead. However, when an unknown prince collapses just outside, Wen accidentally saves him, triggering the barrier to collapse. At the same time, another mysterious boy with ravens kidnaps Wen’s grandmother, which pushes her and the prince to journey across lands far and wide to save her only family. While Wen is naive about the world outside her farm, she still sees people through innocent eyes, despite some who may take advantage of her. This delightful graphic novel draws upon unanswered wishes and talking animals, and one teen girl who’s determined to save her grandmother. Bright colors of pale blues and straw yellows paint a picture of majestic mountains, large castles, and the sights and sounds of a bustling market. Wen might have her hands full on her long journey, but with friends by her side, she can hopefully find the answers to her past.
Disclaimer: I have read an early copy of the book via edelweiss, thank you!
A promising beginning to a graphic novel fantasy series with a very fairytale feel to it.
Our main character Wen lives with her grandma in the forest, forbidden from ever leaving the area protected by the barrier her grandma put up. At least until they come across a mysterious boy in the forest and everything goes to hell. Now Wen and her new friend Corliss along with his bird companion Theo must set out on a journey to save Wen's grandma and find the truth about her origin.
This is a very solid beginning to a fantasy series. We are introduced to plot threads that will most likely resolve later, we have an extremely charming cast of characters, a possible budding romance, everything you could possibly want from a story like this. Additionaly, the art is adorable and it's not overtly complicated, bringing to mind fantasy manga.
All in all, I had a lot of fun with Raven Saga and I'd love to check out the rest of the series.
Thank you to NetGalley and WEBTOON Unscrolled for the advanced readers copy! My review is voluntary and my honest opinion. ♡
Since reading this graphic novel last week, I have refreshed NetGalley everyday in search of volume two. I will definitely be continuing the series and buying copies for myself once they are out.
This graphic novel is beautiful. The art has such a cute and cozy feel and the color scheme is light on the eyes. The characters are all so fun! Honestly I was reminded of a lot of my favorite things while reading this. Our main character, Wen, is kept from the world for her protection and therefore is a little naive to things. This reminded me of Rapunzel, though her grandmother who is keeping her there is caring and sweet. And then we have our cursed prince who must help anyone who asks. This reminded me of Ella Enchanted.
Despite reminding me of other works, this felt super original. I loved the magic system so far and the connections to animals with it. I'm excited to see more of that system develop along with the world-building. I honestly really loved this one and it was exactly the type of read I needed. I wish I had books like this when I was a kid but I am so glad kids today can read books like this! I would definitely recommend this read! Such a cute and fun read!
I received a digital arc from the publisher via Netgalley though all thoughts are my own.
I really enjoyed this story which starts off with a young woman named Wen reading a book about the ocean while sitting in a tree and I soon realized that this young woman was confined to an area in the woods with her Grandma, their little farm and a protection bubble.
It's soon apparent that the Grandma has her own reasons for confining her grand daughter and hints are given in the beginning of the story.
After her Grandma is carried off by a mysterious figure who can control a flock of Ravens and she's told to find a special star, Wen finds herself on an adventure with a young man who has his own reasons for going and his bird friend who may not really be a bird at all.
This book ends on a cliffhanger and I'm excited to continue this series soon!
The artwork is very well done and the story really kept my attention. Full of adventure, the power of friendship, mystery and magic, I highly recommend this book.
My first graphic novel read of the year, RAVEN SAGA by Chihiro Howe, was a fun time!
Thanks, Wattpad Books and Webtoon Unscrolled, for the gorgeous book!
RAVEN SAGA volume one contains episodes 1 to 17 of Chihiro Howe’s gorgeous art and fantastical story about the quest to save happily ever after. Howe draws the most amazing eyes. You get a perfect example of this with the gorgeous cover art of Wen, the MC, and I just want to fall into them. All the art is gorgeous and whimsical, and it really makes the story a fun read.
I love how Wen learns about the real world and goes on this quest, learning that life is not what she thought. I’m also a big fan of the animals throughout the story - special shout-out to the attack guard geese! 🪿🪿🪿
RAVEN SAGA is fun, whimsy, and fantastical with gorgeous art. Plus, it distracted me from my HEATED RIVALRY obsession, which is on a loop in my mind, so that is worth mentioning. Definitely recommend!

This was a cute story, it gives off tangled vibes at first. I love all the Animals that were included. There’s a big mysterious aspect to the story which lead me a 27 year old to keep reading. The ending was pretty great which makes me want to come back and keep on reading.

This felt Rapunzel inspired right way, with Wen living in the forest never going beyond the magical barrier. The art is lovely and captures the fantasy world very well. I also liked our cast of characters. Talking animals always have a special place in my heart and Theo definitely found his place there. There were the beginnings of a found family dynamic which I love in fantasy.
I enjoyed the read but my feelings aren't particularly too strong. The worldbuilding felt thin, but that's also partly to Wen being so unfamiliar with everything. There was the reference to Jack and the Beanstalk, and I'd be curious enough to see what other might appear, but I am not necessarily wanting another sequel.
Overall, I enjoyed my time with this adventure, I am just not sure if I want to continue.

If you really enjoy fairytales and graphic novels this is the read for you.
Wen is a girl who has been kept away from the real world by her grandmother in order to keep her safe. One day she ventures out to save a boy and it results in her grandmother being captured. Her and the boy, Prince Corliss, go on a journey to find the “morning star” that her grandmother promised would bring answers.
The dynamic between Wen and Corliss is immediately absolutely adorable and I can’t get enough. They are both so sweet and complement each other really well.
I am very interested in seeing what they get up to in further volumes. This volume introduces a lot of issues that need resolved, so I’m sure there will be a lot to uncover.
