A kingless world--that is the outcome Dokja chose as the price for refusing to rule as a godlike monarch. But even the omniscient reader could not have foreseen the depths of depravity human society can sink to when there is no force imposing order. And within the dark, lawless streets of what was once Seoul, Dokja encounters a person he knew from another lifetime, a trauma-inducing figure from beyond the fourth wall who shakes him to the core like no giant monster or shadowy demon ever could...
I don't know why, but in this volume specifically the changes between the original novel and this really bothered me a lot. I had to take a few days' break to be able to read the rest.
They are little and subtle changes, but they pile up, and eventually, you are reading a completely different story.
This story tells me not to stop being attached to something just only bc it’s such an unpopular idea. we can like and be obsessed with anything as long as it comforts us or gives us somewhat we like to feel. and the outcomes of adoring it be so big as the affections can go wide. do I sound like exaggerating? that’s what I got from this manhwa at the starting point.
And the plot is amazingly clever and funny at the same time! So many theories and histories there are too (couldn’t even follow them sometimes)
Let’s talk about my favorite characters! Smartass Dokja is such a adorable funny guy and handsome at same time? I rarely like mcs but he’s one of my exceptions. And Han Sooyoung I love her brain as well. I didn’t figure out how much I liked her until she’s been apart from Dokja in like vol 7 ig? Huiwon I like this woman too :)) loved her energy since the beginning. What a strong tall girl who has a short temper?! I’m in love. And JIHYEEEE she shares the same energy as Huiwon imo. Ngl, yes, I have a thing for every character who’s dark-haired and battle-skilled ;-;
Not going to read the web novel, though! I will just wait for the manhwa to be released for the next episodes. Finished this during my sick days and rlly enjoyed it!
Loved how chill this volume was. Well maybe not chill… but it was less filled with information and lore. It was more backstory and angst😭. I HATED HOW EVERYONE GOT SEPARATED. THAT STUPID INTERMEDIATE DOEKKAEBI. That coin farm💀 I am glad Dokja destroyed it and I’m glad Dokja and Sooyoung joined forces even if it just for the sub-scenario. That stupid wolf bully was actually so gross. I felt so bad for Dokja, having to face his trauma of facing that creature who was from his past😭😭. And on top of that meeting another person, who I assume is his mom, that also elicited trauma on him😭😭😭. Wtf😭😭😭. That Imyuntar, Lycaon looks cool. Hopefully they survive the fifth scenario 😭
an entire volume of kim dokja and han sooyoung together 😭❤️ i love them so much. best frenemies. also a lot of wolf people in this one love that for me. most of what happens in this I don't remember at all from the novel so that's fun. we still have so much to go i can't wait to read these until im 80
Kim Dokja has completely stepped away from the plot of the original story by destroying the ruler's throne, thereby changing the nature of the game too. The dokkaebi in charge takes immediate revenge and makes Dokja relive memories from his past. They're not nice.
Dokja stumbles on a coin-farm, where people in cages are made to kill each other for coin they can use in the game. He runs into the plagiarist, Suyeong Han, there too, and together they put an end to it.
They form a temporary alliance, but it has a rocky start when Dokja runs into his school bully. As a consequence, he finally realises what the fourth wall skill he has does. They find a meteorite and Dokja decides to hatch it. He knows it's not another catastrophe, but a guide against them in the fifth scenario. But turns out, Dokja isn't exactly a stellar student.
Dokja isn't the only power-player out there, and he runs into one of them. Someone from his past he knows better than anyone. And who has traumatised him even worse than the school bully. Luckily for him, there's no confrontation, this time. Having read the webtoon, I know the identity--and so does Dokja, even if it isn't revealed to the reader at this point.
This was an eventful volume. Dokja spent it with the plagiarist after the dokkaebi sent his team to relive their own pasts. She's not my favourite character, but together the two got a lot done. The story is about a quarter way in, so basically at the beginning.
We saw soo many about Dojka past life 💔 The TRAUMA ARC was great and really emotional💘 I don't know how she does it, but Singshong can give us a lot of fights+action and at the same time an emotional development of the character.
Do you like movies action? You'll like it. Apocalyptic world + big monsters + fights with swords and challenges all the time.
Do not like action movies because you feel they are flat without emotions, just actions? Maybe you'll like too because has the emotional element, and Dojka as a character is soo complex.
Assuming this is Peace Land arc volume. First arc where I felt the momentum and quality lag since Scenario 3. Wish the translation was a bit tighter, especially since abstract discussions were in high concentration. SO reminded of dubious star trek tos episodes. This is that stretched out. To me.
The combination of KDJ and HSY will never not be the best thing that happened in this series for me personally, firstly because it shows how ambiguous yet complementary both characters’ moral compasses are, and secondly because they’re funny as hell when they’re together
