Things are going well for Miyako and Asako until a tabloid gets a snap of Miyako. Determined to settle things once and for all, Miyako steps back onto stage.
A sweet and cozy series tries to shoehorn in a little drama for the finale, and it feels very artificial and easily resolved, but it doesn't hurt anything so I'm willing to roll with it. I do resent that it takes time away from the main characters just being together casually, but there's not really much left to explore there anyway.
Miyako and Asako have cleared all the obstacles in front of them, but that’s not going to stop fresh problems from wrecking their burgeoning romance. An accidental slip with her former idol group suddenly sees Miyako right back in the spotlight.
And that’s where this final volume plays out, with our leads separated as Miyako’s mishap brings her back into the idol world for a proper sendoff that she never gave her old life when she originally left.
It’s intermixed with Asako figuring out how to be there for Miyako and doing things for their future. If I had a complaint with this last volume, it’s that this doesn’t really get the attention it could use to be a big part of things. The idol stuff definitely gets the bulk of the attention.
Still, that side of things is entertaining and is focused on the prep work and the social media circus. It doesn’t go hard on exactly what you’d expect, the concert isn’t really seen, but what it does look at is pretty good.
This volume definitely gets into more symbolism than the series tended to, which was an interesting pivot from its more straightforward nature. It all distracts from a dearth of more physical romance, although the emotional bond is very strong.
I was quite amused at how the final show actually plays out, as there’s one last little twist the mangaka throws in there to gum things up. It really takes things in an interesting direction at the end, but I enjoyed it.
Things are wrapped up in an overall satisfactory fashion, this doesn’t feel especially rushed, and we also get a very nice nebulous wrap-up for the other potential pairing. That’s one biscuit snap you can hear on the page.
Overall, a good series. I think this wasn’t necessarily the best choice for an ending plotline, but it’s by no means bad. Splitting the main couple up for the last volume is a choice and it makes a good case for it, but I would have been okay with something more focused on just Asako and Miyako.
3.5 stars - this volume is less about the romance and more about getting to that part and handling Miyako’s past. Still, it’s a decent little capper for a series that doesn’t knock the socks off, but was a pretty charming little yuri.
Ever since Miyako's past was revealed, I've been holding my breath for a plotline like this. Ultimately, the stakes aren't as high as I thought they would be, but the volume serves as a nice conclusion to her arc.
Despite the strangely translated title I firmly hold this series as one of the best WLW mangas. I started this in highschool and finished it 4 years later when I randomly ran into it in a book store - a very good run in!!
Low stakes and a very slice of life storyline. If you take out the idol plotline you're left with probably fuck all happening but a cast of likeable characters getting on with their day, but it's extremely enjoyable because the author captures the core of slice of life extremely well. I'd compare this series to the morning cup of coffee and a breeze through the window type of book. The main guys evolve alongside each other - trivial matters are handled side by side and their traits are lovely together so you get a satisfying arc till the end. It's one of those stories where nothing insane happens and all parties voice their conflicts with the goal of resolution. There's a whole chunk of one chapter where the main characters are not involved at all. That can be received two ways, but all I want now are spin-offs of the sides because they're just all chill as fuck.
I'm straight up yapping at this point but I highly recommend this for slice of life lovers. I for sure will revisit this series once in a while!
About as good as the other volumes, so do read it if you're already done with the fourth. I had expected that we might get some follow-through on a certain pair we all ship heavily but instead the focus remains very heavily on our main couple. I can read infinite volumes of them, so it is not a bad thing, but I tend to prefer a lack of dramatic plot twists that force separation and maybe conflicts in romances. Thankfully it is not nearly what other romance manga plot lines can tend to be, so the usual lighthearted tone of the series is mostly maintained.
Also, at an undisclosed location in this volume we do finally get a smooch. It was always going to happen but was mysteriously absent in previous volumes.
It’s a cute, sweet sapphic story about a lonely ex-idol in hiding and an office worker “civilian” that loves far too hard and gives too much to people that don’t deserve — the combination works, and like I said, it was sweet.
But for once, I would love a Yuri that is both cute/sweet with a good story AND HAS MORE THAN A KISS AT THE LAST PAGE OF FIVE FREAKIN VOLUMES. Please I am begging for non-toxic Yuri that isn’t just aged up shoujo ai, I am an adult and I want adult Yuri that isn’t abusive or toxic. 😩 LET THE PRETTY LADIES DO MORE THAN SMOOCH AT THE END.
This is definitely a cozy, slice of life girl love with nearly no angst at all. All the characters are ridiculously cute ranging to adorable. I loved the main couple and enjoyed them as a pair. I feel like there’s even a second relationship that manifests that’s along the line of ace? Good read. Only giving an 8/10 because there’s still some things left to be like… figured out. I don’t feel like the end really felt finished. Still definitely cute read.
this volume lost itself and got off track with the whole idol backstory that could have been dealt with in a way that wasn’t this nonsensical. unfortunately the second relationship got buried because of that but the last panel is a cute end to the story & i really loved following the MCs!!
I’d love the series to carry on and see more of their life together (a wedding 🥺), as well as more of the other girls and perhaps some romance for Hato and Ruri, but this felt like a nice stopping point and I can just imagine all that future loveliness.
