He is the kind of man I would sell my soul to serve.

Isn’t weird that when you love a book it’s harder to write a review, but if you didn’t like it you have so much to say? Yeah, I didn’t like this and I have a lot to say.
Get in loser, we’re going on a rant.

A submissive bear meets a silver fox Dom, lots of kinky sex follows.
And no, this isn’t a shifter romance, even though it felt like Grey might’ve been a shifter at times, but I’ll get to that.

As always, why not start with the positives, because even though I think this really needs some work, it still had some redeeming qualities to it.
I liked that the couple were both men over 40, which isn’t a trope I’ve encountered often in MM romances. And the smut was pretty decent, an unexpected mix of BDSM scenes and vanilla sex. I wasn’t a fan of the heavy degradation, but the rest wasn’t half bad. I think this would’ve worked out better as a short BDSM erotica, rather than a 350 page romance. The romance was a bit too instalove for me, but it was still somewhat sweet.
Buckle up buttercup, ‘cause now we’re gonna get into the negatives.

B is for Boredom
As I said, this would’ve worked better as a short erotica, because it was wayyy too long.
Too many inner monologues and interactions and lengthy descriptions that add absolutely nothing to the romance or the plot.
We don’t need to know what Oliver’s work to-do list is IN DETAIL (two entire pages) especially since we never see him actually do anything work related, or a side character’s entire life story, or for Grey to take 5+ chapters to read 3 letters from his grandparents.

When I wake early, Grey is still asleep. I slip out of bed and find my way into the kitchen in need of coffee. I pick out one of the coffee pods and stick it into the fancy coffee maker. Shoving two ice cubes from the fridge’s ice maker into the cup the coffee is soon cool enough and I gulp it down.

HE MADE COFFEE. TWICE. Did we really need all of that?

D is for Dom…and Grey and Oliver and Olivia?
Apparently, this has turned into a foursome between Grey & Oliver and their kinky alter egos. They do this weird thing where they pretend/believe that Grey and Sir, his Dom side, are two different people. They actually talk about them in the third person, like the ‘alter ego’ isn’t in the room with them.

“Wait for Grey to come back. You two have a lot to talk about.”

One steps forwards and the other steps back seamlessly and vice versa. It happens automatically and there is hardly ever a fight between them. They are working as a good team.

The Dom in me has retreated so I can rejoin Oliver as Grey.

Like a fucking wolf shifter, his animal side retreats into the background.
This was legit funny AF, Grey talking about Sir like they aren’t the same person.

I think the four of us will be very happy together.

Just to be clear, this isn’t a poly. They just feel like their normal selves and their kinky persona are two distinct people.

S is for Shit, shit, shit!
I also found this quite funny as well. Oliver starts almost every chapter (14 times, I counted) with ‘Shit, shit, shit!’, which brings me to my next point — the repetitiveness. The writing was excruciatingly repetitive.
They have entire conversations, only to do a recap of that same conversation in the next chapter. I don’t have a great memory, I’ll grant you that, but I’m not fucking Dory, I remember what I read two minutes ago.

Oliver tried to get out of me where I was going and I put a stop to it. Told him that sharing works both ways and he is holding back, which hurts. But then I couldn’t help myself and told him whether he shares with me or not, his Sir will help him whether he wants it or not because he agreed to that in their contract.

This just happened. I read that exact conversation. I don’t need you to repeat it to me again.
Around the 60% mark you can really see a decline in the writing from bad to worse. I don’t usually notice spelling mistakes ‘cause hey, we’re all human, but if there are 20 typos per page? Yeah, something’s up with that.

M is for Miscommunication
I talked about the writing a lot, but the plot was equally as bad. The entire plot circles around two things: Oliver’s financial angst and Grey’s dead grandparents. I was boring myself trying to explain this bland plot, but I’ll spare everyone and just say it was boring. They don’t talk to each other about their problems and they go on way too long about the same two things. They were being very dramatic for something they solved in two seconds once they started communicating normally.

God, this review has been going on forever (just like this book), is anyone still here?
TL;DR — A smutty BDSM romance, with a boring plot line and poor writing.
Just maybe cut a couple pages next time, yeah?

ALSO I’m so disappointed that the many kinky songs they use throughout don’t actually exist?? I was so excited, I was gonna get a sexy playlist out of this at least, BUT NO. Most upsetting thing about this, to be honest.

I received a copy of this book from Gay Romance Reviews, and this is my honest review.

I really thought I’d like this book, because the blurb seemed interesting, but I absolutely didn’t. The writing was very weird. At first I thought it was because parts of the book was in past tense and part in present, but in other books that never annoys me so much. Here it didn’t help though.

The story itself was really really bad and unrealistic as well. And don’t get me started on the incredibly disturbing split personalities both MC’s’ developed. Both yes 🙄 I have a soft spot for kinky novels and by now have read literally hundreds. This however was the first one where the mc’s both made a difference between having a kink relationship and having a boyfriend. In these books the relationship always develops very fast, but in this book it was warp speed. They got together, had a huge relationship development, sort of broke up, got back together and were forever in days. Why not give them some more time?

Then the relationship with Greys grandparents. Yes they were horrible to him and I understand he left. Then the grandparents came around and developed this whole elaborate plan for him to find happiness and a job and everything, with letters he should (and did) read days apart from each other, and everything counting on the fact he’d break up with his boyfriend, come back to Australia, take over for his brother who coincidentally just found a sub in the US, right after the grandparents died (around the same time)??? How did they know they were going to die after he broke up and before he came home? And gift hem not only a house but also a sex dungeon? Ok, they probably didn’t know about that last part but still. And above that, count on it he wouldn’t read a contract before signing? What if he had found someone else in the UK before coming home? Or if he would have read it? Or literally anything else realistic had happened (like not knowing when you’ll die…)

And then the whole Peter story and how angry Sir was with Olivia (because of course degrading a man is giving him a female name 🙄) for not properly reading a contract, while he signed a contract himself without reading! (Ok, that was his alter ego Grey, because split personalities…)

The degradation talk was the cherry on top of this book. It was so bad! It might have been Oliver’s kink, and Sir/Grey found out in seconds after meeting him, but it was so off putting.

Why didn’t you just DNF this book? I don’t know. I do know this is off my kindle after I’m done ranting here. And it will never ever be on my reread stack.

I received an ARC for this book. And I really wish I didn’t.

This book blew my mind a bit, to be honest.

The sum of my knowledge of BDSM comes from 50 Shades, and I’ve been told that’s a load of rubbish. So, when the book first starts, it goes straight into loads of jargon that I have no idea what it means, and there is no explanation either. I think it is assumed we will just know, but those with no experience in this will find it hard to understand without looking it up.

The story itself starts off great. We get the meet-cute, the backstory, and the potential pitfalls that the two MCs will face throughout. It had a good premise and, for me, a unique story as I haven’t read any other BDSM books. The characters’ personalities started off fun and quite solid in their categories, but as time went on, they seemed to both go through a huge shift.

Like I said, I have no idea about that world, so I can’t comment much on that. However, Grey started off as one man with two roles but steadily turned into someone who seemed to be more like a person with multiple personalities. It felt like it wasn’t consistent. It made him feel like two different characters, not just two different roles. I think if he’d been this way from the start, it wouldn’t have been as confusing towards the end.

The book is very heavy on the sex scenes, and the switching of roles, and some of the story surrounding those elements feel very repetitive.

The language used between Grey and his twin brother, Brian, Grey and Eddie, and even sometimes Grey and Oliver is very formal. There’s no familiarity. You can’t feel a bond at all. It just all feels very stiff.

The fight between Grey and Oliver. I’m not sure if we’re supposed to feel empathy or not here, but it just made me laugh. This is a 44 and a 47(?) year old couple, and the petulance and language scream teenagers. Also, the whole subterfuge between Grey/Eddie and Oliver. Come on now, why does Oliver have to tell the truth, but Grey gets to make a fool out of him like that? You can’t make me believe that it’s for his own good. Nope.

I don’t know what I was expecting from this book. It all happens over a 3 week period, until the 2 last chapters where there are time skips, and a LOT happens to such a new couple that it feels a little OTT. I wanted to enjoy Grey and Oliver more but their chemistry and personality switches were a little off putting and not the Dom/Sub, but the fact that Oliver seems to become a child and I feel like you can visualise Grey shivering in and out of his Dom like you watch James McAvoy turn into his different characters on Split.

Maybe it’s my lack of understanding in this topic but I found it hard to focus properly.

I did read the warnings and I thought I’d be ok with the humiliation , I didn’t realise about the degradation…. but it wasn’t my thing. This whole book wasn’t my thing.

Oliver -His dom, his ex left him high and dry. He’s without a Dom and unable to cum.

He also needs to come up with money to buy out his partners share of the mechanic shop they own.

Grey is running a coffee van next door, his twin brothers . Grey is a Dom in need of a sub. He hasn’t even met Oliver yet but likes what he sees.

‘I stand there like a little boy reprimanded and a joy that has become almost unfamiliar washes over me. My cock comes to life hopefully as I feel the kind of dominance I need from a man for the first time in four months. I swallow hard and am sure everyone within three streets can hear it.’

Oliver and Grey establish they are Dom and Sub. Oliver’s kink is humiliation and degradation.

I’m not sure how I’m gonna go with this book 😅😬

There’s a scene I skim past cos I really can’t read it, there’s aftercare , then Oliver leaves.

Greys grandparents had kicked him out at 19, when he came out as gay, and made him homeless. But now they are dead. Apparently they eventually were ok with Grey and his twins sexuality and tried to make amends.

Grey and Oliver seem to some communicating through song Lyrics? BUT I JUST FOUND OUT THESE SONGS AREN’T REAL!!

“I want to have you as my sub and I would like to date you as my boyfriend. Both. Would you like that, too?” “Yes, Sir. And yes, Grey. I’d like that,” he answers and we both laugh.”

Umm what ? Soo Sir and Olivia, Grey and Oliver? One is kinky and one is vanilla?

‘I am not sure whether to think of this man as Sir or as Grey so I try to play it cool and go with Grey at first.’

Whaaat??

I think they sign a contract.

They exchange I love you’s.

They keep secrets from each other which results in misunderstandings.

‘But in one last-ditch act of disobedience, which I might come to regret soon, I raise my eyes again and shout, “Grey cheated and now he is using Sir to get out of it.”

Anyway , they work it out and end happily ever after

Show Respect by Felton Kingsley is an absolute must-read. From the very first page, I was completely captivated. The plot is gripping and resonates deeply, showcasing raw emotions and situations that many can relate to.

Felton Kingsley proves to be an extraordinary author with a remarkable talent for storytelling. The characters are not just well-developed; they resonate with authenticity, and the chemistry between them is electric. The sex scenes? Intense and beautifully crafted—raw, passionate, and emotionally charged, yet never gratuitous.

I was so impressed by this book that I immediately shared it with friends, and they were just as blown away. It sparked dynamic conversations and left us all eagerly anticipating what’s next.

If this is the start of a series, I’m all in. Kingsley has gained a devoted fan for life!

This was an interesting and very explicit foray into the world of domination/submission and the humiliation kink. That would never be my kink, but I found it educational for me to view it from Oliver/Olivia’s point of view to gain a better understanding of what the submissive gets out of it, and the effort the Dom needs to put into planning a scene to be aware of everything to give the sub what is needed, but safely. Loved the aftercare, which was something Oliver had missed with his previous Dom (who was a real jerk).
It was fascinating to me to see the almost two separate personalities switching from Oliver to Olivia and Grey to Sir with nothing more than a word and a shift in body demeanor. Trying to maintain a relationship as Dom/boyfriend and submissive/boyfriend while switching almost at the drop of a hat seems like it would be very challenging, but both came across as achieving it almost seamlessly. Grey’s thoughts on the dual personality within him and how he switched from one to the other, then had both “up front” at the same time, was another interesting facet to his character. Also liked the emphasis with Oliver/Olivia on communication and reading the contract carefully, not just accepting it as what had been discussed but not yet in black and white.
These two characters seemed very “real” to me, with honest reactions within their dual dynamic, even though I have no actual experience with the Dom/sub lifestyle at all. This is an author I will follow, and I’m looking forward to Eddie and Juise’s story next.

MY OPINION: This book walks a fine line between a romance book and erotica. If you are looking for a book filled with lots of spice of the vanilla variety and the Dom/s variety, this is it. Weaved within all the spice is a happily ever after, and it was fun to see it.

I felt like I knew both main characters and could connect with them while they fell for each other instantly. Grey is the Dom but wants both a sub and a boyfriend, and he finds that in Oliver. It was interesting to see Grey slip between Dom and his boyfriend, often using the Dom role to resolve problems overall.

These two men live the lifestyle and are happy in it. They both knew this was what they wanted. They fell for each other instantly, both had been looking for just the right fit, and they happened upon each other. This book gives you a window into this world with a lot of accuracy. There is a lot of spice, and honestly, that is the primary part of the book. There are both scenes and vanilla moments, all of which show love, even with the humiliation Oliver craves.

You watch this relationship bloom and become a love story, which I did enjoy. You need to want a book that is deep into the Dom/s lifestyle that includes a humiliation kink, or you will be uncomfortable. But overall, I liked the story and the men. There are some sub-characters you get to know, and I hope to see how their stories unfold in future books.

ARC Review 💌

Title: Show Respect
Author: Felton Kingsley
Series: Moccachoo series book 1
Genre: LGBTQ+ & BDSM Romance
Release date: 03/04/2025
Spice level: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️✨

I think some of the dialog was wrote in a way that felt unnatural there was an overuse of the word sir whenever they were in scenes together. Also found that the whole sir/grey and Oliver/Olivia thing got too much it felt like they were writing characters with personality disorders at some points. I really enjoyed the way Oliver’s insecurities from his last dom were reflected in the new relationship. I also liked the whole arc of buying the shares of the mechanic shop. However I would have liked for greys issues to be focused on or even shared with Oliver the relationship felt very one sided support wise. I think the humiliation kink was wrote incredibly well the aftercare was perfect it was realistic that lots more aftercare was needed for these scenes compared to others. It was cute how comfortable Oliver was to ask to be humiliated it really showcased how good a dom Grey was and how healthy their bdsm relationship was.

Overall I think the BDSM aspects of the relationship were very well wrote and really developed resulting in other aspects of the book feeling under developed or rushed. I’m looking forward to reading the next instalment as I feel this was a good set up for a series for each van owner.

This is a bdsm/romance story.
Grey comes back home to the country after living in the city for many years. His grandparents were ashamed of him being gay and had kicked him out of his home. The only reason Grey had come back after so long is because his brother has asked for his help. With his grandparents now deceased Grey agrees to come visit his brother.
Grey never expected to meet such a willing male as Oliver. Small sparks of interest ignite in both men and both agree to begin to see each other to see if they can further their relationship.
There are hot scenes along with romance and at times the words will touch your heart.
Received this book from a friend. It is worth the read but there are triggers so please read them first from the author to make sure this story is for you.

Show Respect by Felton Kingsley is a BDSM romance centered on Oliver, a sub craving care, and Grey, a Dom returning to his rural roots after years away. Their connection is instant, built on intense scenes of consensual humiliation, tender aftercare, and surprising emotional depth.

Though the story delivers steam and heart, some parts feel rushed—everything unfolds in just three weeks, with sudden time skips near the end. The Dom/sub dynamics and name-switching (Grey/Sir) can be jarring, and character consistency sometimes wavers. Still, the story touches on healing, acceptance, and connection.

Check trigger warnings—this one isn’t for everyone, but it’s worth a read for those who enjoy emotionally layered BDSM romance.

Not the typical kind of book I read, but after reading this I will be seeking out similar books. Grey, a Dom needs and Sub, and Oliver, a Sub needs a Dom and thus is the beginning of a wonderful book and relationship. I love how that the book presents kink as mainstream, not something to shy from. It is steamy but also such a wonderfully tender storyline. These men both have had past issues, but make a wonderful couple. Grey's background broke my heart and was so happy to find him find love and support. I cannot wait for the next book in this series. I did receive an ARC and leave this honest review.

D/s and Vanilla swirl
#MiddleLifeRomance
Toys. Toys. Toys.

Not really for me.
Basic editing errors. As this was an ARC they may be fixed in the published version.

Both characters had the same “voice" in my brain. Which felt a little wrong as the personalities of the MC’s differed so much.

I wasn’t thrilled by the overt communication issues and the last couple chapters were a little jumpy for me. Personally I would have preferred an epilogue.

Ultimately it was an okay read. It just missed the mark for me.

The balance between humiliation/degradation and aftercare was perfect. I find that a lot of books skip over aftercare, and I love that we got to see both aspects as well as how kink showed up in their everyday life. This book featured several of my favorite kinks and had a good balance of D/s, steam, and plot. There were parts that I think the author could have cut out as they didn't lend much to the overall story but for the most part the story was cohesive and flowed well.

Oliver is a sub in desperate need for a Dom to care for him. Grey, newly returned to Australia immediately sees Oliver is for him. As a Dom, he wants him but also as a boyfriend. This book is weighty with humiliation and degradation mutually agreed on and is very steamy with tenderness and understanding in the aftercare and in their daily life, a balance hard to create. There are some repetitive parts and the Sir/Grey switch can seem strange but I did enjoy the story. I received a copy of this book through Gay Romance Reviews and this is my voluntary opinion.
