I have some suspicions about this book. I have been wanting to break into the world of solo RPG journaling adventures for a minute now. I was gifted this one, and I was super excited.

From my understanding, this book was produced by a small studio - and therein I will give grace. However, I want to point out some glaring issues that I encountered.

At first blush, I was immediately suspicious that this book was made with generative AI. The overall construction of the book makes little to no sense. It walks the reader through the initial setup, but then doubles back to go into detail about each of the steps in the inital open. This makes the rules confusing - even after multiple readings. I honestly had to read the book cover to cover twice before I got the general idea of what mechanics were to play in what part.

In addition, the narrative repeated several of the rules over and over again - but with different words. I am still unsure how a “moment” is defined within the confines of the game. It was defined at least four separate times, but within different contexts and with different definitions. Therefore, I was lead to believe that this was created using AI - which is blatantly deplorable if true!

Overall, I enjoyed my playthrough of this solo RPG after I decided to use the guidebook as more of a reference rather than a solid set of rules.

For a complete newbie to this genre, I would not recommend this book. There are other solo RPG journal books that provide more resources like videos and FAQ sites for assistance, and I would recommend you seek one of those out over this book.
