Eargasm presents a unique concept centered around music, intimacy, and emotional exploration, offering an original premise that sets it apart from typical contemporary romance. Hanneke Mijnster's writing is vivid and expressive, with clear attention to sensory detail, especially in scenes involving sound and emotion. The narrative voice is confident, and the story takes creative risks that may appeal to readers looking for something unconventional.
However, the pacing is inconsistent, with moments that feel either overly drawn out or abruptly resolved. Character development, while promising, occasionally lacks depth, leaving certain emotional arcs underexplored. Dialogue can feel unnatural at times, affecting the authenticity of the interactions. The plot, although engaging in concept, struggles to maintain momentum in the second half.
Overall, Eargasm is an ambitious and imaginative read with standout moments, but uneven execution. Readers seeking a bold, sensory-driven narrative may appreciate its originality despite its flaws.
